politics over people

I can’t stop laughing over the racist neckbeards on the Marvel Facebook page upset about a completely innocuous illustration of Miss Marvel urging people to vote as being too politically biased towards Hillary (it doesn’t say anything about who to vote for, but apparently a Muslim superhero talking about the election is too much).

And the fuckboys in the comments trying to argue that freaking Steve Rogers would be an enthusiastic Donald Trump supporter. I’m fairly certain they’ve either never read a Captain America comic or watched one of the films, or they’re just misinterpreting the character to a BAFFLING degree.

  • person in the 1960s: the cia controls the media
  • other person in the 1960s: oh thats just silly conspiracy theory shit, you're just crazy its not true
  • person today: not only does the CIA control the media but the FBI too has been granted the legal right to control it.
  • other people today: yeah we know. lol what can you do am i right?

#DonaldTrump and the #Koch Brothers would likely be in the driver’s seat to keep us addicted to dirty energy as they profit exploitation of dirty energy.

I just feel like all that slow, gradual, painstaking progress we scrimped and saved for over a hundred years was all for nothing. The sense of basic protection is gone.

Here’s the thing about the “ACLU supported Nazis!” shit that’s going around completely context-free on this website and other corners of the Leftist Internet, and that I’m now hearing “Woke People” use for why they no longer support them. (Under a cut, because long:)

I see some folk getting annoyed on Tumblr about everyone talking about the American Election, or getting riled about people shitting on Trump … But I really quite like it. It’s nice seeing all the Trump hate because it lets me know I chose to follow the right people and that you’re decent folk and not a loada assholes B)

please sir, step aside, this dog has some serious dog business that needs to be businessed

This is the problem with #capitalism which enables Big Pharma to be run like a cartel (without guns).

Ways to push people away:

- correct their grammar
- criticize or make subtle snide comments on their outfits/appearance
- make sure to bring up topics you know you don’t agree with them on
- listen to music on headphones as often as you can
- bring your phone with you everywhere you go so you’re constantly occupied and less approachable for conversation. Do NOT leave it in your room, purse or the car
- be generally irritable as often as possible, even if you wanna be happy that day. It’s right on trend to be moody 24/7
- stay in your own way, keep your heart closed off even if the loneliness bites
- define yourself by your political views/causes you fight for and make sure everyone knows it. The more you can disagree with people and specifically categorize yourself, the more distance you can create. Politics over people. It’s not like those theories are supposed to fix problems or bring people together, they’re just there for us to identify with and use to separate ourselves from everyone else
- never compromise
- put everything over people’s feelings. They made a mistake? Missed a turn? Burned your food? Put on a song you don’t like? Let ‘em have it and never back down
- get online and stay online
- see people for their differences. We are not equal, we are not all the same inside. If someone fights for causes opposite from you, hold onto that hatred. Equality is important in theory but not in practice. People only matter if they look and dress and act like you or fit into one of the categories you fight for lol
- focus on small things that bother you about them and just zoom in on those. The way they walk, pronounce certain words, their weird outfit choices and taste in food, never let go of it. DIFFERENCES ARE THE KEY

Isolate, isolate, isolate. You don’t need anyone. People are annoying and uneducated and worthless if they don’t have an impressive vocabulary. It is absolutely possible to be the only not annoying person in the world. You don’t need to accept anyone else in order to be happy. You never have unfabulous moments so everyone else in the world who does is just beneath you. Keep them away, all they wanna do is like get to know you and be friends and connect and like…. be friends. Ew, companionship. Makes my skin crawl.

“oooh Clinton could be the first female President!”

of the US. The first female president of the USA. Ireland had its first female president in 1990. Her term ended 20 years before Clinton’s would begin. If Clinton becomes president and goes to a meeting of world leaders, one of the people she’ll run into is Angela Merkel. And there are many, many other women who’ve held and currently hold positions of power in their countries.

I’m not saying it’s not important, or a great achievement. It is. But it’s also important to remember the context. It’s not “first woman to be president”, it’s “first woman to be president of the USA”. I don’t like the way that leaving out the “of the USA” part when celebrating Clinton kind of ignores or diminishes the achievements of other women. Pretty sure that’s not how it’s supposed to work.

Donald Trump's Attorney General Nominee Wrote Off Nearly All Immigrants From An Entire Country

“Fundamentally, almost no one coming from the Dominican Republic to the United States is coming because they have a skill that would benefit us and that would indicate their likely success in our society.“

Trump’s Attorney General doesn’t think anyone from my country should live in the US because we have nothing to offer. He has made vile statements saying we can’t succeed in this country. Tell me again why myself and people like me shouldn’t be afraid of this entire administration.

I shared this on Facebook on November 19th. I asked everyone I could to make a fuss about this man’s nomination because this was a sign of what was to come. Almost no one listed. Today this xenophobe and racist was appointed to oversee the upholding of American laws. A man who wanted to jail activitist with 200 year sentences for helping black voters in Alabama and who singles out an entire group of immigrants from a particular country calling them worthless is now in charge of the Judiciary branch. The group of people that are going to be actively persecuted grows larger by the day. It’s not just Muslims. It’s not just Mexicans. It’s Dominicans as well and tomorrow, when they’re done with us, it will be someone else. They’re systematically trying to “cleanse” this country and I really hope that when they inevitably come for me and my people everyone shows up at airports with signs and chants too because we’re going to need it.

Every feminist who categorically mocks and has no empathy for people who decide that transition fits their needs best should realize that even if they just don’t care about trans people’s feelings, they’re also calling every detransitioned or reidentified woman a fucking idiot and it’s insulting, and an obvious example of putting vapid politics over the needs of people whom you claim to support. There are loads of lesbians who have considered it, are still considering it, or who have transitioned and then stopped, or who have continued transition while thinking of themselves as lesbians again, and this is common knowledge- more and more of us are speaking up and reaching out and trying to connect with other women who’ve experienced the same things. But yknow fuck lesbians and fuck trans people and fuck actually supporting human beings who disagree with you, or even those who do. Obviously this is not something every rfem is guilty of but I wish heterosexual feminists (because 8 times out of ten these are heterosexual, married women who think they know shit about what LGBT people go through) would just stop ever thinking about gay, bi, and trans people honestly. I wish they’d just shut the fuck up and stay away from all of us.

  • Me: Excuse me... May you please stop..?
What stuns me is how my fellow evangelicals can rally behind a man whose words and actions are so at odds with the central teachings of our faith. They overlook, rationalize and even delight in Mr. Trump’s obsessive name-calling and Twitter attacks, his threats and acts of intimidation, his vindictiveness and casual cruelty (including mocking the disabled and P.O.W.s), all of which masquerade as strength and toughness.

“There Are No Jobs On a Dead Planet” (w/Guest Kandi Mossett)

The only jobs on a dead planet will be cleaning up the mess left behind by reckless/greedy corporations and corrupt politicians. Since these are only jobs on a dead planet then the CEOs the corporations that benefited from the exploitation of natural resources and corrupt politicians (from both parties) should be compelled to clean it up since they allowed it to happen. It’s their mess.

America, prove me right

in school I learned
“America means freedom”
in school I learned
“America means peace”
in school I learned
the the world looked up/to America
when I went to school/in America.

“Hello, I’m name from country”
“Hello, I’m me, United States.”
In boarding school I learned that America
is not the world’s favorite place.

“not everyone loves guns”
I say
“gay pride is bigger in Texas”
I say
“Trump will not be elected,”
I say
“The public is smarter than that,”
I say

Now I’m not one to pray
but when I lay down at night
I look to the ceiling and plead
America, prove me right.
