polaroid album

I’ve told you my stories for years now. Some have been about coming of age. Some have been about coming undone. This is a story about coming into your own, and as a result…Coming alive.

It’s really interesting to think about Taylor Swift and the future of music as belonging to online streaming because Taylor made her albums iconic using the physical album format. She uses the album booklet to hide secret messages and to tell a story through the prologue. She had specific body parts on her physical CDs and used a specific font for her name. She wrote her first prologues in her own handwriting for the booklets. She put collectible polaroids in her album case and had entire photoshoots to make lithographs for every other song in her album booklets. She documented making 1989 with polaroids and put the polaroid of her studio sessions next to the song it was for. Each album booklet, CD cover, and all album art follows a specific theme derived from the story of the album’s songs. A Taylor Swift album belongs in the physical form.
