I really dislike all those “bring back Veronica Taylor for Pokemon movie 20” petitions and such tbh. Retelling Ash’s origins should be just as, if not more of a draw for the new generations who missed the original episodes, as it is for us. In that regard Sarah Natochenny is more appropriate, as I would ASSUME that we can all agree that adults accepting change is a lesser evil compared to causing confusion to kids. Besides, after playing the role for well over 10 years at this point, I’m sure she’d be happy to get a chance to portray those scenes herself. I’m sure she has grown numb to all the rude comparisons at this point but still, she’s a human being, you can’t just cheat her out of a job cause muh nostalgia.
It’s going to be different regardless, the art style is different, the writing and directing will be different (even if the script is the same, just compare the trailer version of Ash asking Pikachu “do you hate me? Well I like you!” to the first episode, the tone is completely different). If nostalgia is that important, just keep watching the original.
TLDR: dubbed Pokemon was always trash grow up and accept Rica Matsumoto as your lord and saviour
