pointy pointy pointy. pointy pointy point

Reasons to support the Fates localization instead of the English patch:

  • The script and dialogue overall is way less stiff and more entertaining to read (and doesn’t have tons of Japanese stock phrases)
    • Jakob is less of an insufferable prick
    • Selena actually gives Laslow a taste of his own medicine instead of her just staring at him in their supports. He got fuckin run up on.
    • Say what you want about the pickle thing, but it made a pretty unremarkable character in the original way more memorable.
    • Our love is stronger than the world’s most pungent pickle. Won’t you dive into the brine with me?” fckdkngdsgh
    • “We’ll be back in battle soon. I’d better rinse the blood out of my ruffles.” - Forrest
    • Honestly y’all would be missing out on so many quality quotes
  • The localization in general is less homophobic
    • Soleil is handled much better; improved supports with the male avatar, doesn’t come across (as much) as a fetishist, has only platonic supports barring 2 which thankfully eliminates the Unfortunate Implications of a girl who shows interest in primarily (if not only, in JPN version) girls ending up with only men. [See Class S]
    • The S-Support with Niles and the male avatar doesn’t have the “but we’re both men!” line, which originally implied that kind of relationship was “weird” or unusual.
  • Children get unique crit quotes from their parents, which were basically the same in the JPN version.
  • Retainers share one crit quote with their lieges, which is pretty darn cute.
    • Oboro’s “You are so last season!”
  • The storyline favoritism is less obvious; Corrin expresses more guilt + regret towards leaving Nohr in Birthright instead of being like “lmao this is my family now”
  • Your siblings don’t call you “brother/sister” when they’re confessing to you wtf…wtf.
  • The voice acting is pretty decent considering everyone had to juggle like 3 characters each, presumably due to VA tensions in the west(?).
    • Okay idrc what you say but Felicia’s voice is more realistic and matches her nervousness. She sounds awkward bc she is awkward. And it’s pretty darn cute once you get used to it.
    • Oboro doesn’t have that weird anime granny voice anymore.
  • Probably the most important: Supporting the localized version will ensure more FE games are brought overseas. Buying a Japanese copy will only make it seem like Fire Emblem isn’t popular over here anymore and the chances of getting more exported games decreases.
  • Honestly the English version is pretty lit and you should treat urself.
