Nashville’s Secret Stuff are premiering their debut 5-song EP, This Is Fine, on New Noise.
The EP will be released digitally and on 12" vinyl and cassette, tomorrow (Friday, January 29) on Spartan Records.
Engineered and produced by Jon Hicks (Relient K, Haste the Day, Dance Gavin Dance) in his aptly-titled studio, Jon’s House, This Is Fine captures the angst and misery of formative years, set on the backdrop of struggling to do even that. It focuses on shortcomings, the burdens of stress, overly critical self-analysis, and coming to terms with it all (the acknowledgement of which is where the title originates).
The band is currently wrapping up a tour with label mates The Foxery.
Houston, Texas band Whether, I has signed a deal with InVogue Records. Their debut EP “Dreamcatcher” hits stores April 1, 2014. The EP is produced by Robby Joyner (The Great Commission) and mixed & mastered by Tom Denney (Secrets, A Day To Remember, For The Fallen Dreams).
Rathborne To Tour With Albert Hammond JR From The Strokes.
Rathborne, the New York City-based quartet named after chief songwriter and front man Luke Rathborne, premiered the newest video for their single ‘Soft ’ today on Spin.com. Started by Rathborne and Darren Will, with Jimmy Gianopoulos on synth and guitar and Jamie Alegre on drums, Rathborne is currently on tour with The Strokes’ Albert Hammond Jr., this week moving along the west coast and ending their run in Vancouver on November 25.
Hammond, Jr., also serves alongside Gus Oberg as co-producer of Rathborne’s latest album, 'Soft’, an 11-track LP released last month that “never stops moving from one jagged-edged song to the next, marrying fast-and-loose Ramones ethos with unhinged garage-pop and the melodic ease of classic R.E.M. and Big Star.”
“The feeling of the record is incredible energy,” says Rathborne.“There’s something hidden in there for everyone.
We’re all reaching for something, and art helps people deal with those things.”
He adds, “I hope people realize the album is about something deeper than what’s on the surface. It’s a record about hope and redemption and energy and possibility.
And hopefully, it can be a record about people’s lives.”
