Plugin helps local bookstores steal customers back from Amazon

In the UK, more than 500 independent bookstores have closed in the last 10 years due to competition with supermarkets, ebooks and online megastores such as Amazon. We recently saw the indies of NYC fighting back with CityShelf — a co-operative platform which, collectively, aims to give Amazon and Barnes and Noble a run for their money. Now, a chrome extension called Bookindy could get customers back into the UK’s independent bookstores too, by hijacking Amazon’s own site and letting browsing customers know their best price from bookstores close to them. Sometimes the bridge rises to let some thing pass through, forcing you to pause, body, mind and soul, take a deep breath and have faith in the inevitable fact that what goes up eventually comes down. Some downs whose purpose is only made clear when the two sides meet once again. Let your soul settle in the sweet pockets of what was and what will be. There is so much power, so much information, so much love there. Soak it up. #plugin || 📷 @roxyogi

This Week at Papernoise

Mystery Project #1 finally hit a major Milestone! We have a first alpha version 0.1! Time to get drunk!

I guess it’s now time for some unveiling! The name of the project is The Cake and it’s going to be a software loop station with a twist (of course). I’m designing this with the Japanese Software maker Ju-X, who has a bunch of nice little apps on his website (so check them out!).

At this stage it’s still a bit too early to tell you everything about what the The Cake will have to offer, this first alpha version has all the major features you’d want from a multi-track looper: external clock sync, internal clock, unlimited, independent looper tracks, feedback control on the overdubs, event quantisation for loop recording and so on. The really cool stuff has yet to come though, hopefully alpha 0.2 will already feature some of these more advanced things we have in mind.

Other news:

  • I have released my old Hexinverter NeinOhNein panels with a CC license, you can download the package here if you want to make your own: https://copy.com/ZZltDUFOXpGmQEYq
  • I’ve made my first album cover for Ghostly International!
  • The BMM Colour Palette is finally in production!
  • It’s not really news, but a new run of the DIYRE Colour Palette (the original for the 500 Series lunchbox system) is out, with a brand new frontplate by Papernoise.
  • Also not really news… Tsyklon Labs has a new logo (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Tsyklon-Labs/227154570668414?) plus, it seems they are making something with nixie tubes…
  • I’ve updated our portfolio adding the animated intro for the TV programme Mensch Sein, check it out here: http://www.papernoise.net/filterable-portfolio/
