Mosses, Fungi & Ferns
Photographed on the same day and location as my prior Thunder Rocks post, here is a peek at some of the life growing on a single rock. We often overlook the micro-climates that simple changes in geology make; a single boulder creates the perfect substrate, moisture, and light level for some species. Not shown: A buttload of other moss species, lichens, liverworts, and club mosses.
(That last mushroom was so tiny it looked little a little orange dot with the naked eye. Check out the size of the moss leaves in comparison)
