An earlier version of Defying Gravity from Wicked’s original Off-Broadway run at the Curran Theatre in San Francisco, featuring alternative lines & lyrics such as:

  • “Elphie, just say you’re sorry! You’ll have everything you’ve ever wanted! Elphie, please… you can’t go against the Wizard of Oz!”
  • “I hope you’re happy/I hope you’re happy there/I hope you find somewhere they understand you as I grew to/I hope you find it/You too”
  • “Where’s your green friend?”
  • “It’s me! It’s me! Up here! It’s meeeee!”

why does this fandom always act like it’s our fucking fault that we are upset when dnp do fucked up things like continuing to be friends with a known racist? as fans of them we are allowed to be upset when they knowingly engaging with people that harm poc and Jewish people???? these grown ass men do not need to be coddled by fans as if our being upset is gonna hurt THEIR feelings. god the hoops this fandom will go through to defend dnp.... we are allowed to be disappointed and wish for better

1. He said a specifically anti-black slur and anti-jewish rhetoric, lets be specific.

2. Because fandom has always prioritized white comfort over more marginalized communities.

3. Because people recognize themselves in Dan and Phil’s actions and are being defensive of themselves and their own bullshit.

Also! If you’re reading this and you’re feeling like I shouldn’t be saying any of these things? Feel free to unfollow me. It’d be a favor to me. xoxo.
