EXCLUSIVE: ‘Once Upon a Time’ Bosses Reveal New Musical Episode Secrets and If Colin O'Donoghue Will Sing!

Better start warming up those vocal cords, Oncers!

Production of the highly anticipated musical episode of Once Upon a Time is well underway and executive producers Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis are spilling exclusive new details to ET about what fans can expect when our favorite characters step into the spotlight.

Read on for inside scoop on how this episode will be a “huge part” of Once Upon a Time’s mythology, the many romantic “surprises” in store for fans, and if Colin O'Donoghue will be singing!

We actually started [planning] this around September,” Kitsis explained to ET over the phone last Friday. “There are these two composers that we met, Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner, who are big fans of the show, and ABC put us together with them because a musical is the one thing and the one request that fans have been asking for for six seasons.”

“It’s something we’re very excited about and we’ve been working on for a long time,” Horowitz concurred. “What we’ve also worked really hard to do is make this musical a part of the show, so it’s not just like a one-off episode or it’s not just like a stand-alone [special].”

You hear that, Oncers? The musical episode is not going to be some kind of a dream sequence or an alternate reality. It’s going to be a “real Once Upon a Time episode” and a key part in progressing the storyline of the series forward.

“It actually is a huge part of the mythology of the show and there are some big things that happen in the episode,” Hororwitz revealed. “Frankly, it’s been one of the challenges of doing the musical because we never wanted to do something where it was just like a to-the-side, one-off thing, and then get back to the main story. We want to see it part of the main story, which meant we had to really plan out this season with some great detail.”

Kitsis added, “And what’s fun about it is it’s the penultimate episode [of season six,] so the musical actually kicks us off into the finale.”

The musical, which begins shooting later this week in Vancouver, Canada, will feature seven songs including a solo from Jennifer Morrison’s Emma. But here’s the big question we wanted to know: Will O'Donoghue’s Killian also be lending his singing voice to the set list?

“Colin will be singing,” Horowitz confirmed.

(Deep breaths, y'all.)

There were no details provided as to what exactly O'Donoghue will be singing, but when asked if a duet between Emma and Killian is something the fans can expect to see in the musical, the EPs were coy with their responses. “We want to keep some surprises for the fans,” Horowitz shared.

“Yeah, but I would say this,” Kitsis continued. “If you were watching a Once musical, we approached it like a fan. What would the fans want to see and who would they want to see sing?”

“Well, you know you never know,” he teased when we pointed out that many fans would love to see a Captain Swan song in the mix. “It’s a show about hope, Leanne, and if you have enough of it, it might happen!”

As for Emma and Killian’s future, fans will be pleased to know that this second half of season six will “absolutely” feature many more romantic moments between The Savior and her swashbuckling leading man.

“What I can tease is that this second half will, probably, have the most romantic moment between those two in the six seasons of the show,” Kitsis dished.

(Remember to breathe!)

Many fans almost lost their minds when an engagement ring was featured in Once’s midseason trailer, so we’re curious to know if Killian might be finally be popping the question to Emma?

“At the end of the fall run of episodes, we teased that there was a ring,” Horowitz established. To which Kitsis added, “So somebody’s going to get it.”

“But to be fair, Henry did just take Violet to the dance, so we don’t know,” Kitsis quipped with a laugh.

New episodes of Once Upon a Time return this Sunday, March 5 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.

How are you feeling, Oncers? Are you excited that Colin O'Donoghue will be singing in the musical episode? Do you think a Captain Swan proposal is in our near future? Share your thoughts with @LeanneAguilera on Twitter!

The Dynamic between Kylo & Rey and where it can go: A parallel analysis with the Shatter Me trilogy

This meta is a collaboration between my friend @sillylovesongs17 and me. We decided to do this after I told her to read the books because I didn’t want to scream alone about this series. We think this is a wonderful example of what a relationship between Kylo and Rey should look like in the next movies and we hope you have fun reading this meta.

WARNING: There will be spoilers about Shatter Me and Star Wars.

Shatter Me is a book series written by Tahereh Mafi. Followed by Unravel Me and Ignite Me, Shatter Me tells the story of Juliette Ferrars, a girl that can kill with a single touch. After being locked up for 264 days, she gains a cellmate, a boy she thought she would never see again as the Reestablishment (the new government in power) has plans for her, Juliette must make a choice: be a weapon or be a warrior.

In this meta we will discuss the possibilities for Kylo and Rey’s relationship and where they might end up at the end of the sequel trilogy comparing them to the very similar relationship of Juliette and Warner in the Shatter Me trilogy.

We are aware that these stories are not the same but both dynamics are similar, sharing a lot of common traits so we’ll only analyze these characters and their dynamic only.

In the surface, Rey and Juliette share little in common. Rey starts of as a very capable scavenger, she can hold her own against enemies because she had a lot of time to learn how to defend herself in Jakku. In contrast, Juliette starts as a fragile girl, she’s locked in a cell for quite some time because of her lethal abilities and is on the verge of losing her mind.

But they do share similarities. Both girls were born with powerful gifts: Rey is force sensitive and Juliette has a lethal touch. She was abandoned by her parents because of her abilities and if the leaks about Ep. VIII are correct Rey’s parents did the same to her making both wish for belonging.

Rey and Juliette are destined for great things and one more thing they share is their uncommon relationship with the antagonist.

Kylo Ren and Warner share very similar traits, both in personality and their actions. Aaron Warner is the leader of Sector 45, viewed as a cruel sociopath by his soldiers and enemies he hides behind this mask not allowing anyone to see the real him until he meets Juliette.

With Kylo we have the same pattern, his descent into darkness is only stopped when he meets Rey. He senses that she’s special and their connection only grows after their first interaction.

Both Kylo and Warner are trying to please their leaders who abused them mentally and, in Warner’s case, also physically. In Star Wars, the Leader is Snoke, someone that according to the book “Aftermath: Empire’s End” has been watching and manipulating Kylo since before he was even born.

In Shatter Me, the Leader is Anderson, Warner’s father who treats him like shit. He taught Warner to be merciless and cruel hoping that would destroy the gentle nature of his son.

Warner and Kylo are both murderers, they don’t deny it but find no pleasure in harming someone. They are passionate and intense characters with a great sense of style and beautiful hair (sorry).

The point is, Shatter Me is a trilogy, divided exactly like the Star Wars movies. So, we will show how their dynamics are similar and with luck Mafi’s books will illuminate us, the reylos.

Shatter Me and The Force Awakens:

                            Presenting the Characters

The book starts with Juliette in prison after years of passing through countless reformatories and mental institutions, her last home is now a solitary cell where she’s been locked for 264 days without no one to talk to but herself.

The only thing that keeps her from losing her mind entirely is the bird she dreams about it:

“Instead, I ignore the desperation sticking my fingers together and watch for the bird I’ve only seen in my dreams.”

(…)

“I’ve dreamt about the same bird flying through the same sky for exactly 10 years. White with streaks of gold like a crown atop its head.

It’s the only dream I have that gives me peace.” – Shatter Me. Chapter 6. Pg. 21.

Everything changes when a boy joins her. Adam is someone from her past but he appears to no longer remember her. They talk sometimes but never touch until she discovers that Adam works for the Reestablishment and he was only there to evaluate her.

She’s brought to the headquarters of Sector 45 and is immediately interrogated by Warner. His looks and youth weren’t what she was expecting it:

“I’m immediately struck by his youth. He can’t be much older than me.

It’s obvious he’s in charge of something, though I have no idea what. His skin is flawless, unblemished, his jawline sharp and strong. His eyes are

the palest shade of emerald I’ve ever seen.

He’s beautiful.” – Shatter Me. Chapter 8. Pg. 25.

This is a great parallel with Rey and Kylo’s first meeting. When Kylo removes his mask, Rey is expecting a disfigured almost robotic person and his looks caught her off guard:

“She just stared at him in silence.
In itself the narrow face that looked back at her was not remarkable. It was almost sensitive. If not for the intensity of his gaze, Ren could have passed for someone she might have met on the dusty streets of Niima Outpost. But there was—that gaze. That, and what lay simmering behind it.” - TFA Novelization, Chapter 14.

“That happens when you’re being hunted by a creature in a mask.

Kylo Ren stops, considers her… then reaches up, unlatches

and REMOVES HIS MASK. Rey reacts, stunned. It takes a moment

before she regains her own mask of defiance.” – TFA Script.

The majority of the book is Warner trying to unlock Juliette’s power while she falls in love for Adam who has feelings for her. She discovers that he can, somehow, touch her and they start a relationship without Warner knowing about it. He tries to test her powers and pushes her to her limits using not so good ways to do it but it works with Juliette discovering her super force.

On TFA we see Kylo trying to get inside Rey’s mind. This works like a test, and she discovers she is Force Sensitive. Then Kylo Ren and Rey also create a bond (a deep connection, a link…). For Warner and Juliette this came with him touching her without being killed.

Juliette escapes with Adam leaving Warner in all his anger and confusion. Adam is Juliette’s love interest throughout the first book and since Rey doesn’t have a love interest in TFA there isn’t much to compare. Finn, who is Rey’s companion in the movie is more like Kenji Kishimoto, Julliette’s best friend.

While Kylo’s feelings for Rey aren’t explicitly stated, Warner’s feelings towards Juliette are very clear throughout the first book and even Adam notices that he treats her differently but all she feels for him is hatred and disgust:

“I hate you.”

“So much passion.” He laughs again. He looks so calm, so genuinely amused. He stares at me with eyes softer than I ever expected them to be.

I turn away.” - Shatter Me. Chapter 14.

Juliette and Rey are girls that never had someone who cared for them so the thought of losing Adam and Finn is horrible to them. Warner and Kylo both commit an act of violence against them making their hatred only to solidify. The word “Monster” is used by them to describe Kylo and Warner:

“You’re a monster.” My voice is too even, my body filled with a sudden rage. “Why don’t you just kill me?” - Shatter Me, Chapter 9.

“Ren held his lightsaber, poised to strike. “I could kill you right now. But there is another way.” Breathing hard, Rey looked up in disgust at the man looming above her. “You’re a monster.” – TFA Novelization.

Even with their feelings made clear both men still want these powerful women by their side:

“You and I, Juliette—together? We could be unstoppable.”

I will not look at him though I feel his gaze touching every inch of my body. “No, thank you.”

We’re in the elevator. The world is whooshing past us and the walls of glass make us a spectacle to every person on every floor. There are no secrets in this building.

He touches my elbow and I pull away. “You might reconsider,” he says softly. - Shatter Me. Chapter 13.

“No. You need a teacher.” He was beseeching and insistent all at once. “I can show you the ways of the Force.” – TFA Novelization.

At the end, they both fight. Who wins? Yes, the girls. Rey uses the Force and kicks Kylo’s ass. Juliette uses the attraction that Warner feels for her and shoots him. Then both women runaway with their friends and find their resistance. The men are hurt, but still alive.

Unravel Me and The Last Jedi:

                          Finding Common Ground

Since The Last Jedi isn’t out yet we will analyze the events of Unravel Me and compare to what may happen in TLJ based in what we know so far.

After scaping from Warner, Juliette and Adam are brought to the resistance by Kenji, their friend. There she meets Castle, a mentor for her, that wants her to train and learn more about her abilities but it’s hard for her. She can’t concentrate in her training and everything seems out of place. As her relationship with Adam starts to crumble, her dreams come back and she doesn’t understand:

“The dreams are back.

They’d left me for a while, shortly after I’d been freshly imprisoned on base with Warner. I thought I’d lost the bird, the white bird, the bird with streaks of gold like a crown atop its head.

(…) It was my one piece of hope in the bitter darkness of the asylum, just until I met its twin tattooed on Adam’s chest.

(..) I thought it was a signal, a message telling me I was finally safe. That I’d flown away and finally found peace, sanctuary.

I didn’t expect to see the bird again.

(…)

I’ve had the same dream every night for the past week, and all 7 mornings I’ve woken up shaking, shuddering into the earthy, icy air, struggling to steady the bleating in my chest.

Struggling to understand what this means.” – Unravel Me. Chapter 4. Pg. 28.

The belonging she thought she had found with Adam and Castle’s resistance isn’t real, she still feels incomplete like something is missing.

The same can be said that this might happen with Rey. After her forceback, Maz tells her that the belonging she seeks it’s not behind, in the past, but ahead in her future. Rey thinks it’s about Luke and becoming a Jedi but she might find out that the belonging she wants rests with another person.

Rian Johnson compared TLJ to Letter Never Sent regarding how the story shifts in the middle surprising the audience. We know that Rey and Kylo don’t have the basic hero/villain dynamic and this could be one of the surprising elements. Showcasing their bond and the connection they feel to each other but for this to happen they need to spend time together.

In Unravel Me, Juliette’s feelings about Warner starts to change when she sees him commit an act of kindness:

“And I wish I’d never seen it.

Because something inside of my heart is ripping apart and it feels like fear, it tastes like panic and anxiety and desperation and I don’t know how to understand the image in front of me. I don’t want to see Warner like this. I don’t want to think of him as anything other than a monster.” – Unravel me. Chapter 20. Pg. 101.

Her doubts about him only increases when she meets him again, this time with his father Anderson, the Leader of the Reestablishment:

“And I see the difference in him now. I see what’s changed.

He’s making no effort to hide his emotions from me.” – Unravel Me. Chapter 35. Pg. 154.

Anderson knows about his son’s feelings towards Juliette and plans to kill her in front of him to teach him a lesson:

“The mistake”, he says, almost announcing it now, “that he always makes, time and time again – allowing his emotions to get in the way of his duty – it’s pathetic”, he says, spitting in Warner’s direction. “Which is why as much as I’d like to let you live, my dear, I’m afraid you’re too much of a distraction in his life. I cannot allow him to protect a person who has attempted to kill him” – Unravel Me. Chapter 35. Pg. 157.

Just as we suspected that this was what Snoke wanted to do with Rey, to kill her in front of Kylo because he felt compassion for her:

“Kylo Ren. It appears that a reminder is in order. So, I will show you the dark side. Bring the girl to me.” – TFA Novelization.

Juliette wins over Anderson and Warner is taken as hostage by their resistance. Once there, Castle states that Juliette must interrogate Warner because he’ll only talk to her.

They spent time together and the connection she feels with Warner is stronger than everything she has ever felt:

“Because there’s something about him – there’s always been something about him that’s intrigued me and I don’t understand it. I wish I could ignore it but I can’t.” – Unravel Me. Chapter 50. Pg. 203.

“But I know that I don’t hate you anymore. I’ve tried,” I say, “I’ve tried so hard. Because you’ve done so many terrible, terrible things. To innocent people. To me. But I know too much about you now. I’ve seen too much. You’re too human.” – Unravel Me. Chapter 50. Pg. 207.

They start a strange relationship, Warner thinks he knows her, knows what she feels and she is confused about Warner, not wanting to believe that he can be more than a monster. She likes to spend time with him and she hates herself for that.

She’s the only person to who Warner is kind. He sees her as his equal and explains why he wanted her by his side:

“He looks at me. Really, really looks at me.

“You’re going to go on to do incredible things,” he says. I’ve always known that. I think I just wanted to be a part of it.” – Unravel Me. Chapter 52. Pg. 218.

When Warner discovers that he has abilities, Castle offers him a place there, in their resistance but Warner refuses. That’s not who he is, he can’t change for a matter of days and forget everything he’s done. He knows nothing is that easy because he can sense other people’s feelings, he can feel the hate they have for him and that’s why he can’t stay:

“Feel what?” I whisper.

“What people think of me.”

“What…?”

“Their feelings – their energy – it’s – I don’t know what it is,” he says, frustrated, stumbling backward, shaking his head. “I’ve always been able to tell. I know how everyone hates me. I know how little my father cares for me. I know the agony of my mother’s heart. I know that you’re not like everyone else.” His voice catches. “I know you’re telling the truth when you say you don’t hate me. That you want to and you can’t. Because there’s no ill will in your heart, not toward me, and if there was I would know.” – Unravel Me. Chapter 54. Pg. 227.

Their feelings for one another are so strong that they almost have sex. Warner wants Juliette to go with him, they fight and he escapes alone.

Now back to TLJ, we know that Kylo and Rey will spend some time together on Ahch-To. According to some leaks, Kylo will go after Rey maybe finding her by their “mysterious connection”. He will be stuck on the island with Rey and Luke. Their relationship will evolve (without the “almost have sex” thing, of course), and they will get out of Ahch-To, so who knows?

We only know for certain that Kylo and Rey need to spend time together, their understanding of one another in TLJ is crucial to their future.

Another thing that we will have to wait and see is the answer about Rey’s family. Mafi’s trilogy could give us a way. Juliette was abandoned by her family and we don’t meet them. She is no one, her parents aren’t important to the story only Juliette and the discovery of her abilities are.  It’s a good contrast to Warner’s background, he is like royalty, son of the Reestablishment’s Supreme Leader.

A broken young man that meets a strange powerful girl with who he shares a connection. Sounds like something we know?

At the end of book two, everything goes to shit. Their resistance seems to be over and Juliette and Warner seems to be the only survivors making their mission to destroy Anderson.

Based on leaks, it seems that Luke and Rey get off the island and go their separate ways. Luke goes after Snoke while Rey goes after Kylo. If their connection is truly explained and deepened in this movie maybe Rey asks his help to defeat Snoke (we can only hope).

Ignite Me and Episode IX: A forged Alliance?

This segment is basically our hopes and dreams for Rey and Kylo’s relationship since we have no clue to what will happen in Episode IX.

Ignite me sums up everything that me and Lu want for reylo. Obviously, we don’t know anything about the last movie but we want to show you what happens in the last book of the Shatter Me trilogy. Oh, and dream a little.

Juliette is now a strong woman who wants to make things better for the people. She decides to kill Anderson and stop the Reestablishment. Warner doesn’t change so much, he still cold, quiet, with a beautiful hair and only cares about Juliette, the love of his life.

Juliette and Warner spend the whole book together. He’s now the only one she can trust and their bond only grows as the trust is built between them. Warner believes in her and see her as an equal something that Juliette never had before:

“I like the way I feel about myself when I’m with him,” I say quietly. “Warner thinks I’m strong and smart and capable and he actually values my opinion. He makes me feel like his equal – like I can accomplish just as much as he can, and more. And if I do something incredible, he’s not even surprised. He expects it. He doesn’t treat me like I’m some fragile little girl who needs to be protected all the time.” – Ignite Me. Chapter 25. Pg. 105.

In return, Juliette sees the real Warner, someone he tried to hide for so long that he almost lost sight of himself:

“You allow the world to think you’re a heartless murderer,” I tell him. “And you’re not.” – Ignite Me. Chapter 4.

He tells everything to Juliette about his sick mother, why he freed her in the beginning, about the men he killed and everything he did for her. The girl now understands that he is a soldier and not a monster. Juliette finally understands him completely and she accepts who he is, the good and the bad parts of him:

“I’m not trying to fix you; I don’t think you need to be fixed. I’m not trying to turn you into someone else. I only want you to be who you really are. Because I think I know the real you. I think I’ve seen him.” – Ignite Me. Chapter 29. Pg. 120.

If Kylo and Rey spent so much time together as did Warner and Juliette this would be the kind of development that we could see happening between them. They aren’t black and white characters, both Rey and Kylo have darkness in them and the acceptance of each other’s darkness (and light) is crucial to bring balance to them and The Force.

Juliette finally understands what her dreams meant and (shocker) this is the belonging she looked for:

“Warner.
A white bird with streaks of gold like a crown atop its head.
A fair-skinned boy with gold hair, the leader of Sector 45.
It was always him. All along.” – Ignite Me. Chapter 31. Pg. 124.

Juliette only acknowledges that her feelings for him are indeed romantic in the last chapters of the book. That is something that we would like if it happened to Rey and Kylo at the end of the movie.

“What – ‘’ Warner is blinking fast. His voice is fragile, uneven. “What are you saying?”

“I love you,” I whisper. “I love you exactly as you are.” – Ignite Me. Chapter 55. Pg. 200.

Also in this book, Warner loses his mother and Juliette is the only one there to comfort him. The only thing we know about Episode IX is that Leia is not there but this will certainly affect Kylo’s storyline.

“I’ve never, ever seen him look like a child before. Never, not once, not in all the time I’ve known him. But right now, he looks just like a little boy. Scared. Vulnerable. All alone.

(…)

“His eyes are red-rimmed and a startling, striking shade of green, shining with barely restrained emotion. His face is the picture of so much pain.

I almost can’t breathe.” – Ignite Me. Chapter 50. Pg. 189.

Now our favorite part is obviously Juliette and Warner working together. They make an alliance and built their own resistance gathering the survivors of the last battle along with Juliette’s friends to fight against the Reestablishment.

I mean, don’t we all want to see Kylo and Rey kicking Snoke’s ass (or Hux, sorry I’m not sorry at all), using the force bond and being amazing together?

This was basically it. We wanted to show how the writer wrote this very similar dynamic respecting the characters and their development making them a couple you want to root for. We expect reylo to be subtler than a YA book since their audience is PG but if TLJ follows just a bit of this same path we don’t need to be worried about Episode IX at all.

Some words on Samurai Jack S5

Despite not watching the original series on its time and sometimes when CN Latinamerica aired at 4 AM (!!!), you could keep up with the new season. Basically because both intros told you the main story.

I was amazed at how Samurai Jack adapted to adult situations, in which gun shots, blood, a robot saying penis and much more boosted the adventures of the foolish samurai who was looking for a demon to destroy it. It was too hard to see the Priestress training her daughters so they could kill Jack; the samurai struggling with such difficult adversaries and with his own mind that told him to commit suicide because he failed his objective.

But, once again, love was the key. Ashi’s role was key for Jack’s development: from getting back his confidence and his sword, to finish Aku. The relationship was going to explode sometime, and it did. But died on the finale because of logical reasons: if Aku was killed in the past, she doesn’t exist in the future where she comes. For Regular Show fans who saw the bittersweet ending back in January, they had to deal with another bittersweet ending here, in which Ashi appears as a ladybug (based on old Japanese stories like a post on tumblr says).

It was also good to glance at characters that showed in previous seasons. The introduction of Scaramouche was incredible, that charming and blabbing hitman was one of the highest points of the season, either fighting Jack or travelling to Aku’s Tower. The Scotsman’s return was also a high point, this time with many daughters and as a ghost, but with his awesome sense of humor.

To sum up, Genndy Tartakovsky marked our childhoods with lots of cartoons. Samurai Jack was one of them. And he pleased those kids, now young adults, with an ending at its height. I have to thank him and all his crew (animators, writers, VAs, etc.) for these episodes and I hope he could come back to make a couple more animated series, despite he wants to do more movies.

A Time Pirates Theory (SPOILERS) [Now ‘Same Coin’]

(…AKA, Stan is not what he seems.  Again.)

I have a theory based on the secret page of the new Time Pirates book, the one with the axolotl that Bill invokes in the finale for the show - who gives Dipper and Mabel some very interesting information about our favorite floating triangle and the terms of his resurrection (included under the read more.)

Basically:  I have a cool idea about how Bill is going to come back.  Or should I say, came back?

((I would love to hear what y’all think.  Also, a big thanks to everyone I rambled to about this spoiler [most of whom I ended up tagging below ayy] as well as @fordtato for walking me through general spoiler theory post etiquette!))

Words: 1634

Warnings: fluff. Series spoilers (this starts in season 5)

A/N: A cat litter commercial and my friend’s constant kid talk gave me this idea. Sorry it’s been a while.

Master List | Request

The sun shines brightly on you as you wander the automobile graveyard while your grandfather sits on the back porch, a phone to his ear as he reads from an ancient book as he reports his findings to your father and uncle.

You continue to wander the grounds, drawing patterns in the gravel paths with a large stick while you hum your current favorite song. Being the nine year old daughter of a hunter isn’t easy and in your opinion having friends is just a waste of time. Your father, Dean, tries his best, keeping you at grandpa Singer’s during the school year while him and his brother go off and fight the bad but he tries so hard to come and see you every chance he has.

You don’t mind it, because when summer rolls around your father picks you up and takes you on a road trip with uncle Sammy. You also don’t mind when they have to drop you off at the nearest safe house, motel, whatever, that will shelter you when they have to take out a monster they run into. You don’t care at all, but it’s not like you have a second option if you did.

You sigh, bending down to examine a glittering rock you’ve stumbled upon. The small while rock holds your attention for a while, you imagine it was some magical item until the bushes in front of you rustle. You drop the rock, falling to your hands and knees as you cautiously approach the bush. You gently pull some branches to the side, revealing a small kitten stumbling amongst the dirt. The kitten’s covered in orange fur, aside from the small patch missing from her front left paw. You tilt your head, realizing the patch of fur missing is a burn mark in the shape of a lowercase letter t with a small dot just above the top. The kitten’s large blue eyes meet yours, a sadness and fear so deep behind the swirling shades of blue that your heart shatters at the sight and all you can think about is picking up the kitten and never letting it down.

EXCLUSIVE: 'Once Upon a Time' Bosses Reveal New Musical Episode Secrets and If Colin O'Donoghue Will Sing!

“We actually started [planning] this around September,” Kitsis explained to ET over the phone last Friday.

“But to be fair, Henry did just take Violet to the dance, so we don’t know,” Kitsis quipped with a laugh.

fires, chapter one

Title: Fires
Fandom: The Walking Dead
Pairing: Rick x Michonne
Rating: T
Summary: "Because sometimes fires burn to make way for something new…something beautiful.“  The evolution of Rick and Michonne’s relationship throughout the course of season seven.
Author’s Note: So I was going to post this as a one-shot, but it was getting too long.  The first chapter is a series of post-episode vignettes for 7x04, 7x05, 7x08, and 7x09.  Then the second chapter will go into what we haven’t seen yet, all spoilers disregarded and purely based on my imagination.

Apart from those first two episodes, I’m going to do my best from stay away from too much angst, because I’ve written a lot of it and I honestly think, now that they’re on the same page, Rick and Michonne have turned a corner and will be able to find happiness despite their circumstances.

Love and thanks to you all, xoxo.

CHAPTER ONE: LUMINESCENCE

service

She sees him differently, now.

Not in the way he fears, of course.  Not in the way that shines in his eyes when Negan comes to visit them, as he is forced to stand there holding his awful bat while that fiend laughs. As he watches strangers confiscate what his family’s worked so hard for without a second thought.

Not in the way that puts a quiver in his voice whenever he must stand in front of his community, in front of these people who ignore him when he succeeds and hate him when he fails, and tell them that this is the way it is now, there’s no second chances, there’s no other option, there’s no way out.  When his son glares at him as he tries to get through his young, rebellious mind that this is way it is now and everyone has to accept it, because there’s no going back.  When he stares at her with hollow eyes and mumbles that this is the way it is now, that they can’t fight, that they don’t have the numbers and they’d never win.

Not in the way that slumps his shoulders when it is late and dark and they are alone, when he can barely look at her because he’s afraid of what she’ll think and he’s afraid of what he’ll see in her eyes.

Not in the way that etches lines in his face that cry out to her when the two of them are draped in silence.

puffandproud  asked:

Hey so question. After seeing a hell of a lot of Voltron coming across my dash, I'm really curious. Is it good? Should I watch it? It looks good... I don't know. Then the big issue is where would I watch it? You seem like the person to ask. Tell me all you can about it, but preferably without major spoilers?

So here’s my opinion on Voltron. I’ll give you the most unbiased version first.

Voltron comes from the same studio that Avatar: The Last Airbender and Legend of Korra came from. While not exactly the same as the others, crew members who worked in those series came together to give Voltron (originally from japan) a new spin. While ATLA and LOK carry heavy themes of fantasy with very little sci fi, Voltron is the opposite.

If you’re looking for a series set in a sci-fi setting in the distant future, enjoy dynamic interactions between characters, and miss the many subtle and not-so-subtle lessons in big themes that ATLA and LOK often touched on, I would recommend Voltron.

Keeping in mind, of course, that Voltron’s primary demographic is similar to ATLA’s demographic (between 7- 13 year olds, officially) so there are parts that most of the older generations consider to be childish. (Which is…the point. Because. It’s a kid’s show)

My personal opinion? I absolutely recommend it. Take aside shipping for a moment (please actively do this when you start) and watch it as it’s meant to be seen.

It’s a story that touches on five teenagers that are suddenly thrown into the roles of protectors of the universe. A 10,000 year war that’s devastated much of the known universe, it focuses on how each of them come to terms with this new responsibility, whether they accept it eagerly or otherwise. They are very much teenagers in many aspects, young adults in others.

While a lot goes unexplained in regards to technological minutiae and scientific theory, it handles so much of it in a magical sense which is incredibly awe-inspiring. It makes it so nice to watch.

The dialogue is amusing and witty, characters clash in ways that feel realistic despite the whole “and suddenly the day is saved!” Feel that some episodes end on (but not without cause or reason lol) and ultimately the underlying story is treated with appropriate drama.

Voltron: Legendary Defender captures the feel of “greatness thrust upon you” and all of the characters respond accordingly. It’s refreshing, it’s super fun, and the animation makes the whole thing wonderfully enjoyable.

Now as to where to watch it, if you have Netflix, that’s the best place to support the series and watch it without any risks. I watched it there and had a good time with it. If you don’t have Netflix or have a means to borrow a friend’s account, Kisscartoon still has the episodes up there as far as I’m concerned (but you’ll need to be careful since KissAnime and KissCartoon have been under attack recently). I know of only those to be able to watch the show, so if there’s anyone out there who has any other ways of watching please reblog and show!

Now, for some personal thoughts.

When I watched the first episode, I will be honest, I got a little bored and stopped watching for a while. It felt very much like a kid’s show and I was like “eh. This is nice.”

Then I was doing a job that required I work from home and take calls and in between long downtimes, I had nothing better to do so I was all “eh, I’ll give it another shot”

So I started watching it. By episode 5 I was hooked. I absolutely loved Hunk, he had been my favorite character and seeing this loveable food enthusiast get some well-deserved screen time saving the day and overcoming his own fears, dude I was IN. I became fond of Pidge and even Lance’s flirty behavior left me snickering because that dude was ME.

Allura left me inspired, Shiro’s words gave me strength when I was facing a tough time. There was so much in there that helped me crawl out of a bad place I honestly didn’t realize I ended up neck-deep in. Now, I had seen old Voltron when I was a kid, so a lot of the stuff there I couldn’t remember aside from the fact that Keith originally piloted black and Allura was Blue’s Paladin… and I dunno I was like what–is this even the show I remember?? But I gave it a shot and loved how Keith was shown to be a very loyal, very dedicated right hand to Shiro’s black lion. (When season 2 rolled around finally, I fell head over heels for Keith. Bless that angsty shonen anime protagonist knock off. Goddd) and Even Coran! Whom I just dismissed as the annoying comic relief old dude who was more Charlie Chaplin than anything, ended up being a character I genuinely enjoyed writing in fanfiction.

By the time I got to the end of season one, I was so deep that when I looked up to click on the next episode I literally screamed “WHAT” when there wasn’t a new one. Season 2 wasn’t out yet. I went back and forth trying to see if season 2 had come out yet. I kid you not when I tell you I tore through the Internet and fell into my bed and groaned into my pillows when I found out season 2’s release date hadn’t even been confirmed! Some said it was fall of 2016 others said winter.

I remember getting on my skype group chat with multiple friends I’ve met and talked to throughout the years just to harp and exclaim about the show and it’s severe lack of season 2. I managed to get several of them to watch it and even dragged down with me into this hell we call Voltron! Hahahaha

After that I fell into the fandom, I read fan fiction, made some of my own, I even started my own webcomic inspired by the whole thing and made new friends along the way!

Now look at me, I’m getting ready to go on a huge adventure of my own where before I was miserable with the lack of direction my life had. I didn’t think the influence of a kid’s show would have such a great impact in my life but dude, it really did.

Listen, There are a ton of reasons to watch Voltron, some people may agree with me or not. But if you do end up watching it, if you do end up deciding like I did, and so many others before me and after me have done–you’ll probably end up going all, “holy shit this show is AWESOME!”

You might end up discovering new passions through it, you may end up making whole new friends and people you can end up calling family. You’ll probably end up incredibly annoyed at *that* side of the fandom, and you may end up being like many who have been unable to shake off the fandom drama and have had their experiences soured.

There are so many things you can encounter because of this show.

I decided a long time ago, that if I was gonna get into this series, I wasn’t going to get wrapped up in the same BS I did when I was in ATLA and LOK. And since then, I’ve been incredibly happy.

So, if you wanna try your luck and see what it has in store for you, I say, friggin do it. Jump in. Let it coax you in, test the waters, or dive in head first and see where the waters take you my guy.

I haven’t regretted a bit of it.

And if in the end you decide, “eh it’s not my cup of tea,” then hey, at least you tried it. :P

I was originally just going to make a quick salty post about this passage (from this here article on Yuri on Ice published by The Verge) because there have been few times I’ve wanted to immediately burn the words in a publication more, but… apparently, this is a common misconception by Yuri on Ice watchers.

It seems that this anime is inadvertently giving people a warped view of competitive figure skating. Now, it’s not the show’s fault: Yuri on Ice is beautifully and meticulously researched and most of its inaccuracies are purposeful, serving as plot device. But I get the feeling that the Grand Prix setting, Yūri’s unreliable narration and the existence of Viktor are leading people to severely underestimate the difficulty of the sport and Yūri’s skill.

Let’s get this out of the way:

Katsuki Yūri is an outstanding skater.

any thoughts about that new passage from STFF? the one where chris' writing about Cash, his gf, "documentary" tv show, and the "realities" which were blurred by fans

I really think in order to understand the quote, it needs to be read in context.  And to do so, you have to read through the entire chapter entitled “Truth-Shaming” (Chapter 7 of Stranger than FanFiction).    If you do, I promise you will understand a little be more about the mind of Chris Colfer and his opinion on the statement “Glee is Not  a Documentary” that is directly paralleled to the quote in the book.

At this point in the book our young fans have just graduated from High School. They pretty much have been lifelong fans of Cash and Wiz Kids (it has been on TV for 9 years) are just starting their road trip. They have an idea of who they think Cash Carter is and are about to find out that he is quite different in reality.

The rest I will put under the cut as it contains spoilers from Chapter 7.  I don’t think any major plot line is spoiled, but content just the same.

Let’s talk about Yuuri’s and Viktor’s decisions to continue skating competitively, shall we?

Prepare for a gigantic MEGA rant just like last time when I wrote meta on Viktor after episode 10. I just have no chill because I felt the need to address it on a large scale to get lots of things cleared up. If you read to the end you’re the real mvp. So, here goes.

It seems like this has riled up and disappointed some people, so I want to take a look at it and share my interpretation of what went through the character’s heads. I’ve seen various metas discussing it, and while I’m generally open minded and interested in various interpretations some have made me upset. Why? Because some have even suggested that their decisions were based on manipulation and emotional force directed towards each other, and it made me sad to see, for Yuuri’s and Viktor’s relationship is more beautiful than ever at this point. The narrative has built towards this conclusion from the very start. It wasn’t a last minute addition or something we couldn’t see coming. It makes perfect sense.

Let’s jump to the most integral piece of dialogue we have.

This is incredibly important, because what does it show? That despite their conflict in the hotel they were able to treat it like the mature adults they are and decide to face their future individually. I repeat that once again. Individually. Yes, Viktor and Yuuri might be in love, but they are still their own persons with their own goals and desires and they acknowledge this. Their decisions are to be made on their own will, and not to be forced or persuaded by the other. They want to face the future together, that’s obvious, but they are not about to bend themselves and compromise that future either. It’s their lives. Their choice. So they decide to reflect over it alone, and then share what they came up with. Their future is theirs and if they come up with conflicting decisions, then so be it. They both need to do what’s right and rings true to themselves

But let’s head back to the hotel, because didn’t Viktor say this?

Yeah, he does. Does that mean he was forcing Yuuri to do another season, or that he forced himself to compete for another season to manipulate Yuuri into continuing? No. For me, it does not. This is all the result of a huge misunderstanding built slowly over the course of the whole season. What misunderstanding? Well, it’s voiced rather clearly: Yuuri always planned to retire after the GPF, and Viktor had no clue. Remember this?

This scene is so sweet, and so heartbreaking. It’s so important that we even get a flashback to it later in the episode. Yuuri always planned to retire once the GPF was over, in an anxious ridden, “unselfish” (read: selfish) desire to “free” Viktor from his duties as coach. What do Viktor say in response? Basically, “I want to stay with you forever”. And Yuuri’s heart breaks because well, he loves Viktor so much and would like to stay with him forever too, but he can’t. Why? Because Yuuri thinks he’s a liability and a bother not worthy of Viktor’s time and career. It’s not true, of course, and we leave this scene with a Yuuri struggling to let go off Viktor and an overjoyed Viktor because he sees no obvious end in sight, at this point.

Which brings us back to the hotel again.

You might say that hey, doesn’t Viktor react negatively to the fact that Yuuri made an individual choice? Yeah, he does. But the reason for that was that there was literally no communication between them about this. He feels betrayed. All these months, all his love, all his passion for Yuuri, is seemingly swept out the door as if it was nothing. He loves Yuuri and wants to stay with Yuuri because Yuuri was both the door to the future and the person waiting behind it, and Viktor is not ready to be cast aside. Important to note is that Yuuri do this out of love for Viktor, because he believes it’s the right thing to do and Viktor’s happiness is his first priority. It ends up not working out the way he wants, because due to their miscommunication his will to ensure Viktor’s happiness ends up with Viktor crying. This is the last stepping stone to them becoming fully equal, which has been an important aspect in the show all the time. In the end they find a satisfying conclusion, that sacrificing yourself for your partner is not a good thing, and that they can seek happiness individually but also side by side as long as you trust your partner to make their own choice. But first, they need to have this argument.

Of course he’s mad! I’d be furious as well. But what I like about this scene is how maturely he handles his anger. There’s no over the top drama, he doesn’t scream his lungs out or smash things. He cries and slaps away Yuuri’s hand, which is entirely justified since he has a right to protect his personal space. Also take note that Yuuri touches his hair, which he has expressed concern about earlier, and that Yuuri also reveal both his eyes. It’s very intimate, and not weird at all for Viktor to force his hand away. Yuuri initially wears a look of shock on his face at this response, because Viktor has always encouraged and invited Yuuri into that personal space before. Not now, however. Yuuri is taken aback in return by Viktor’s rejection and negative response to his decision.

Oh, Yuuri. Did Viktor ever actually say this? No, he alluded that he would like to stay forever with you. I wish you’d never retire. Seeing Yuuri give up (because that’s what it is, in my eyes, supported by Yurio’s monologue) upsets him, and of course he wants to skate with Yuuri again as well. It’s the charming Katsuki Yuuri, right? Viktor wants to face him as well. On the ice, as equals. Just as Yuuri desired for the past 12 years. He had no idea Yuuri was retiring so soon, and had most likely already planned to skate with him next season at this point, or at least considered it (remember the smile in ep 8). Viktor has probably desired this more and more as Yuuri’s love slowly brought his passion for skating back. We can gradually see Viktor get more and more into what happens on the ice over the course of the season, only to peak in episode 11 when all the excitement rushes back to him through Yuuri’s skate. His life was void until Yuuri stepped into it and filled it with light, and now that light is pushing away the darkness that made everything in Viktor’s life dull and meaningless. That includes skating. Yuuri made it possible for Viktor to love skating again, and remember all the thrills it used to give him. I believe that at the start of the series Viktor has no burning desire to return to the competitive scene, but he has major character development over the course of the series, thanks to Yuuri, and this reflects in the choice he ultimately makes. He’s a changed person in the end, on to start a new chapter in his life, with Yuuri and newfound inspiration.

But still, they decide to think it over individually. They’re still upset, because now there’s a wall between them that didn’t exist before. Yuuri breaks down this wall rather excellently, but note that before his free skate, he is still very much determined to retire. Take a note of his use of “their”.

This is an important line as well, and after this things start becoming very interesting. Please head under the read more, and if you’re on the app you have my sincere apologies.

Pixiv Tag Guide [Tokyo Ghoul]

When you don’t have enough follower, tags is the only thing that can make your art discovered in pixiv. Likewise when you don’t follow enough, tags is the only thing that can get you around pixiv. (Except google. And other gallery like DA or Tumblr or Twitter with pixiv link. lol)

So, how do you put tags on your work? Here’s a simple do and don’t

DO

  • Put a series tag. In this case it’s either [東京喰種], [東京喰種:re], [東京喰種√A], or [東京腐種]. See the difference of each tag in the tag list. You can put one or more of these tag if you want to.
  • Put some character tags, especially the most featured ones on your work. When you got too many characters in your work, just put the most featured (or popular) one, or use group tag.
  • Put some coupling tags when you want to empashize some character relationship. (romance/non-romance)
  • Avoid uploading stacked illustrations as manga/comic. It can do increase the view, but some might mind. It’s still tolerable for now since manga section is fairly new to the old time user.
  • Avoid uploading a single manga page as illustration since it could decrease the view count.
  • Avoid using English tag, except when the actual tag is in English/romanji (for example: VOCALOID). Not only because the view count is low, it also takes more tag space for most of the time.
  • If your work contains some content that could offend someone or spoiler of the recent chapter, please add a warning in the front. (The first picture in manga/illustration stack, or if your work is a single picture, make it into a stack). PREFERABLY IN JAPANESE

DON’T

  • Put some some tag like [かわいい] (cute) or [ふつくしい] (beautiful) by yourself.
  • Put some popularity tag like [東京喰種10000users入り] by yourself, especially when the favorite/bookmark count on your work doesn’t reach to that number.
  • Put some unrelated tag just because they’re popular. For example adding [金木研] tag when your work doesn’t feature Kaneki just to increase your view count. Adding the tag when Kaneki is still barely appear in the work is still acceptable for some people.
  • Mark your work as an original work if it’s a fanart. Please do keep mind that some mangaka (including Ishida-sensei under username [sui]) has a pixiv account and mark their work as original.

So, how? Basically just throw a series tag and some character tags (for example [東京喰種] [佐々木琲世] [米林才子] for work featuring Haise and Saiko). Usually it already could get you some view count (if the thumbnail looks good ofc). If you got more space, put some couple tags when you deems appropriate. Still got some space? Put some event tags. Just remember you could only add up to 10 tags to your work in pixiv, so choose wisely on which tag to use.

TIPS

  • If your work is a manga/comic, put it as a manga. Manga usually has more view than illustrations
  • On this fandom case, BL works are pretty popular. So don’t hesitate to use [東京腐種] tag if your work contains BL. Don’t forget to put the couple tag too.
  • It’s obvious, but R-18 has a pretty high view count. Especially R-18 manga.
  • Work posted on a special occasion with an event tag could get more view (for example posting something about pocky in 11 November with [ポッキーの日] tag). Try to hang out for a while in pixiv to find out more about those events.
  • Try to stroll around pixiv to find out which tag is more popular, since popular tag give you more view count.
  • Put some extra slot in your tag in case someone want to add something.
  • Work posted only with [東京喰種:re] tag can still be found when searching [東京喰種] tag (Except if pixiv changed their search algorithm). It’s your choice to use which.
  • Use Tokyo Ghoul wiki to copy and pasting more japanese terms/names not listed here

Lastly, feel free to add or correct things in this post (including the tag list). I just post what I usually do or found out in pixiv. I, by all means, am not a popular artist nor a pixiv expert, but at least I have an idea on how to get around and I decide to share it. Hope this can help.

PS: you can use the tag list to get around pixiv too. Just remember to GET THE ARTIST’S PERMISSION FIRST BEFORE REPOSTING THEIR WORK AND WAIT FOR THE RESPONSE. DON’T REPOST IF THEY REFUSE.

ADDITION [31 July 2015]

It’s important to know if you’re putting a right tag or not. How to know? It’s simple. See this.

It’s a list of tag on a work. See that square with ‘P’ letter in the right of each tag? If it’s blue, then you’re using a pretty popular tag. Popular enough to have an entry in pixiv dictionary. If it’s grey, well it’s either misspell, or it’s not a popular tag (yet?).

Conclusion is, if you tag a main character from a popular series (which is certainly popular, like, Kaneki) and it’s grey, then you have a misspell. If it’s a new or minor character, you have to check it yourself.

In the case above, it’s simply because Kijima and Matsuri is a minor character and SasaKane is not a popular ship… yet?

Good luck.

Hajime Hinata in DR3

I just finished Danganronpa 3 Despair episode 5. If you haven’t seen up to that point as well as all of Danganronpa 2, it’s best to turn away now. Anyways, I don’t know if I’m the only one who thinks this or at least has it at the back of their mind. But I’m going to say it. *inhales*

I’m significantly disappointed in the way DR3 steered Hajime’s Hinata’s character into becoming Izuru.
