please continue doing what you do

Why do they continue to set him up his beyond me. That interview was embarrassing and D was completely uncomfortable saying every word spoken.

Team incompetent. That interview is only going to hurt him. Please stop putting him in situations where he is forced to blatantly lie.

I actually just feel like crying for him at this moment. Is really no end to what you are willing to do to sell your brand? Pathetic excuses for humans.

It's your character at the end of the day. Regardless of what people say or do, you should do what makes you happy and what helps you write your muse better. The community seems fairly open to accepting the idea of trans muses these days (some of the most popular and loved blogs are trans-muses, as a matter of fact!) so you should really go ahead and do it. If people are mad, then fuck them. They're transphobic and gross and don't deserve to enjoy your Talon like the rest of us would continue to

AYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY thanks pal! you rite you rite. I know I’ll always catch flak for whatever, you can’t please everyone, but yeah. life is 2 short to not do what the fuck you want in pretendy funtime land.

sleeplessbutdreaming  asked:

I loved your answers! More questions that I'd love to get your expert take on: What do you see as Cora's primary strengths and flaws? Robert's primary strengths and flaws? And what do you see as their main similarities and differences?

Thank you! And, oh dear. I’m far from an expert. But, do please continue to send me questions! I love answering them!

I believe that one of Cora’s main strengths is her ability to adapt to the situation. I mean, think about it. At the age of nineteen (depending on your headcanon) she moves to a foreign country and marries someone she barely knew. You would have to have an amazing ability to “roll with the punches”, so to speak. We see that quality throughout the series: her acceptance of Sybil’s marriage, her desire to bring Marigold to Downton, just to name a couple.

Her fierce love and protectiveness of her family is another strength. She realizes that there is a certain “standard” to uphold, but she always puts the well-being of her family first.

I believe that her primary flaw is that she can be a bit naive. The biggest example of this is in the situation with Simon Bricker. Anyone with eyes could tell that he had designs on her, but she couldn’t see what was really happening. I don’t think she could fathom that a man could still find her attractive (in episode 5.03 she refers to herself as an “old lady”), so she couldn’t see what was right in front of her.

Another example is when Barrow told her that Anna was jealous of Edna. I know that she was never made aware of what transpired between Edna and Tom (thank God), and I’m not sure she truly believed that Anna would do something like burn her blouse just to get Braithwaite in trouble, but she must have at least entertained the notion for her to bring it up to Robert.

I think Robert’s primary strength is benevolence. He wants Mr. Drewe to be able to keep his farm, and lends him the money to catch up on the payments, despite the fact that Mary wanted to repossess the land. He stands up for Thomas when Alfred wanted to turn him over to police. He always keeps people’s best interests at heart.

His primary flaw is his adherence to tradition. For example, siding with Sir Phillip Tapsell during Sybil’s labor. I completely understand his reluctance to believe Clarkson, but he should have at least listened to his wife.

I believe that Robert and Cora are similar in that they have a hard time expressing their feelings. Both tend to beat around the bush rather than just come right out and say something. They are both very loving and protective of their family, and they are both kind and generous people.

Their main difference is in their ability to accept change. Robert was better about it in later years, but he held on to old and ingrained ideas and prejudices far longer than his wife.

This took a lot of thought, and I’m not sure it’s a great answer, but there you have it :-).

A/N: hmm I wonder if you guys wanted a part 3? haha I had a lot of fun writing this, I’m so glad you guys have liked the Beanies and Negotiations series (which I hadn’t even intended to be a series).  Hopefully this will give you all enough closure.  Enjoy!

Jughead liked to consider himself a very clever and perceptive person.  So when all of his friends were insisting that (Y/N) returned his feelings for her, he didn’t believe it.  After all, he was perceptive enough to notice that.  He noticed Betty’s feelings for Archie, why couldn’t he see (Y/N)’s feelings?  But because of what his friends told him, Jughead took extra care to pay attention to all of his and (Y/N)’s interactions.  He overanalyzed everything she said to him (which was a lot, he realized). He asked himself, Do all friends talk to each other this much?  Later, he came to the conclusion that no, not everyone talked to each other that much, but he and (Y/N) were best friends.  It had always been like that.  Then he started to observe her body language.  He noticed that they touched a lot, maybe more than most friends do.  She always had her hands brushing up against his, her chin resting on his shoulder, her thigh right next to his.  He wondered if maybe this body language meant something a bit more flirty than friendly, but then he reminded himself that he and (Y/N) were always like that, seeing as they were best friends.  While he tried to form a conclusion about (Y/N)’s feelings, Jughead realized that all this overanalyzing was making him fall harder.  He noticed his eyes lingering longer on her sparkling eyes, her radiant smile, and the lines that formed on her face when she laughed.  How can someone be so beautiful? he thought.

“How do you know she likes me?” Jughead stood on Archie’s porch at nine in the evening.  Archie sent him a questioning look, stepping outside to talk to his friend.

“What?” he asked.  “Jughead, what are you doing?  It’s nine o’clock.”

“I know what time it is,” Jughead rolled his eyes.  “But I need to know.  I’ve spent the past week analyzing every interaction I’ve had with (Y/N), but I don’t see it.”  He sighed in frustration and rubbed his face.  Archie sent him a knowing smile.

“Jughead, I’ve known since the day you proposed to her,” he explained, taking a step towards his friend. Jughead’s head snapped up at the mention of the childhood memory.

“We were six,” he reminded Archie, but Archie shook his head.

“Doesn’t matter,” he replied.  “What matters is she said yes.”

“No she didn’t,” Jughead countered.  “She turned me down.”

“She did,” Archie said calmly.  “But she also accepted, remember?  She promised she’d say yes when you’re both eighteen.  Only three more years, buddy.”  Jughead rolled his eyes but smiled, and Archie laughed.  “I promise you, Jughead, she will say yes.  Ask her out.”  Without a reply, Jughead nodded, turned on his heel, and left.

(Y/N) noticed Jughead’s shift in attitude for the past week.  Deciding not to comment on it, she figured it was something he had to take care of on his own.  Otherwise, she told herself, he would’ve come to her.  Although she repeated this to herself over and over again, she couldn’t help but worry for the boy she had fallen for.  On a Tuesday night, she found herself sitting in a booth that wasn’t her usual booth, and the person sitting across her was not Jughead. Instead, it was Betty that occupied the seat.

“So you wanted to talk, (Y/N)?” Betty asked, interrupting (Y/N) from her thoughts.  She perked up and nodded.

“Yeah,” she replied, trailing off.  “So we’ve been best friends since, like, as long as I can remember, and I tell you everything.”  Betty slowly nodded.

“Before you continue,” she stopped (Y/N), “is this about Jughead?”  (Y/N) bit her lip.

“Yes,” she responded. “I know you know I like him, and you and Veronica and everyone else always say that he likes me but…” she paused for a moment, “how?”

“How do I know?” Betty repeated.  “Because, (Y/N), he proposed to you!”  (Y/N) laughed at the memory.  “He lets you wear his clothes and, hell, his beanie! That boy is as smitten as you are.” She took a sip of her strawberry milkshake.  “Trust me when I say this, (Y/N).  Jughead is head over heels for you.”

Two days later, (Y/N) sat in a different booth.  Her normal booth.  Jughead had yet to arrive, and she was anxiously twiddling her fingers in anticipation.  The bell on the door jingled, causing her to snap her head to face the entrance.  It was not Jughead who entered, but rather Archie, Veronica, Betty, and Kevin.  They all smiled and waved at her, occupying a table that was within earshot of (Y/N)’s booth.  She groaned at her friends’ eagerness to eavesdrop.  When the bell jingled again, (Y/N) didn’t look up.  Jughead sat down in the seat across from her, watching as she slowly lifted her head to meet his eyes.

“Hey, Juggie,” she smiled shyly.  He smiled back, equally as timid.

“Hey.”  The two sat in silence, both contemplating how to phrase their newly found revelations.  How do you tell your best friend that you’re in love with them?

“How’s your book coming along?” (Y/N) attempted to make small talk.

“It’s good,” Jughead answered.  “Kinda slow right now since nothing has happened, but I figure it’s only a matter of time.”  They both laughed, and just like that, the tension in the atmosphere cleared.

“This is weird,” (Y/N) commented, referring to their seating arrangement.

“It is,” Jughead laughed. “Come over here.”  (Y/N) smiled and stood up, moving onto the same side of the booth as Jughead.   She leaned her head on his shoulder, and he wrapped his arm around her shoulders.

“Something’s different, Juggie,” she whispered.  Jughead looked down at her and smiled softly.

“Yeah,” he agreed.  “Things are changing.”

“You know, I…” (Y/N) struggled to find the words to explain how she felt.  She swallowed, then looked up at Jughead and smiled.  “I liked wearing your beanie.”  He threw his head back with laughter.

“I’m glad you enjoyed it,” he rolled his eyes, but his smile betrayed him, “because I was humiliated.”

“You were not.”  (Y/N) lightly shoved him, and he laughed again before they both fell quiet.  They sat there like that for a few minutes, Jughead’s arm around (Y/N)’s shoulders, her head leaning on his shoulder, his head on top of hers.  Each of them were caught up in their own whirlwind of thoughts.

“(Y/N),” Jughead interrupted the silence, causing her to look up at him.  His voice caught in his throat.  “I-” he didn’t finished his sentence, but instead cupped her face and pressed his lips against hers.  She sat there in shock for a moment, and then placed her hand on his chest as she kissed back.  A few tables away, Archie, Kevin, Veronica, and Betty stood up and cheered.  Jughead and (Y/N) pulled apart, laughing as their foreheads rested against each other.  Jughead took his beanie off and placed it on (Y/N)’s head.  She smiled.

“Endgame!” Kevin yelled, pumping his fist up.  Everyone laughed.

“(Y/N), I-”Jughead started, but (Y/N) cut him off with a smile.

“I know, Juggie.  I know.”

Playtime with Daddy 2 (Part 2)

Daddy sits on the bed and motions me towards his lap. I do as I’m told while continuing to keep my wet panties in my mouth. I crawl over daddy’s lap lower my head and lift my butt up. Daddy rubs my bottom slow and gentle in little circular motions, then without warning spanks me hard. I yelp through my panties but don’t move away, I know daddy will punish me if I do. He repeats the same motions, gently rubbing and then spanking me, with every smack, I can feel myself getting increasingly wet to the point of practically dripping on his bed. Daddy continues until my butt is nice and red.
He reaches over to my mouth with his palm spread. I do what daddy wants and drop my panties into his hand.
“How’s my little girl doing?”
I wiggle my bum with enthusiasm. “I’m good daddy hehe”
Daddy reaches down and feels me, I’m dripping on his fingers.
“I’d say so. That’s my good girl” I’m overjoyed. Being daddy’s good girl is all that matters to me.
“I think you deserve a reward don’t you?”
“Yes please daddy!!” I say enthusiastically.
“Come here baby, come ride daddy”
I crawl on top of daddy and feel his big cock with my hand, stroking it briefly. Daddy knows I love to ride because I can control the pace and daddy won’t tease me. I ease on top, feeling daddy’s tip slowly stretching me as I make my way down his shaft. I exhale a moan as daddy’s cock fills my pussy. It feels so good. I begin bouncing on daddy’s cock picking up pace as quickly as possibly. Feeling the pressure build inside me.
“Fuck daddy”
I continue bouncing
“It feels so good!”
I continue picking up pace
“Daddy!”
I’m riding daddy as hard and fast as my little body can take, daddy’s cock feels amazing inside me.
“Little girl” daddy moans sternly
I reluctantly slow down
“Yes daddy?” I say innocently
“What do you think your doing?”
“Nothing daddy”
“Trying to finish daddy early??”
“No daddy! I swear!” Uh oh I’m in trouble.
“Mhm hands and knees baby”
“But daddy!!” Daddy gives me a stern look as if to say not go test him. I reluctantly climb off daddy’s cock and do as I’m told. Daddy goes and grabs something then comes up behind me.
“Put this back on your clit baby.”
“Yes daddy” it’s my clit stimulator I put it back on. I hear daddy squirt something from a bottle. My heart sinks. Uh oh, daddy’s going to play with my button again.
“This is only going to hurt for a bit, but daddy loves you and he promised it will get better, understand?”
I hesitate.
“Baby girl?”
I sigh, I wanna please daddy. “Yes daddy I understand.”
Good girl. I feel daddy’s tip, up against my button, I try my best to relax and not clench. Daddy’s done this only a couple times and I learned very quickly I have to relax and just let it happen. Daddy slowly begins pushing forward. My button slowly begins to feel like its on fire.
“No moving” daddy warns
I try my best to remain still and calm. Daddy continues to fill my behind with his cock. I wince in pain but remain as still as possible. Daddy’s cock is halfway in.
“Fuck baby girl, that’s my good fucking girl, so tight for her daddy”
Daddy pushes his cock forward and is balls deep in my button. I let out a small scream but manage to stay mostly still.
“You’re okay baby” daddy tells me and he begins to thrust slowly. In and out. The pain is still there but it slowly begins to lessen just as daddy promised, I begin to focus on the feeling of the clit stimulator as daddy begins to pick up pace. I let out a moan, this makes daddy go even faster. Now daddy’s pounding my ass while my clit is stimulated by my toy. It begins to feel like heaven. I start to feel the pressure build inside me again. I begin to squirm a bit. Daddy grabs me and holds me still.
“Don’t even think about it until you have permission baby.” I can only cum if daddy says so. Daddy’s going faster and faster dominating my ass, his property. I’m straining myself trying not to cum.
“Fuck daddddy” I moan in desperation. “Please let me cum daddy”
“You know the rules baby” daddy always cums before me. “Almost there baby girl this may hurt a little” I feel daddy ram me harder then before, daddy’s right it does hurt. He does it hard and fast that it causes tears to form in my eyes a bit. Daddy keeps going and going and going and suddenly I feel my ass being filled with something besides his cock. Daddy blows his entire load in my ass as he continues to fuck me and it feels amazing I can’t help it anymore.
“Okay baby you can cum for daddy”
Instantly I finish letting out the loudest moan. My entire body feels stimulated.I’m breathless. Daddy pulls his cock out of me and with it his cum. I fall to the bed exhausted. I always get sleepy after I cum. Daddy caresses my hair and kisses my forward, as I snuggle up to him.
“Thank you daddy”

"Okay next question for all of you...if you had the chance would you do it with Chat Noir?"

“Okay next question for all of you… if you had the chance would you do it with Chat Noir?” Alya’s eyes scanned the circle as she tried to suppress her giggles. Adrien nearly choked on the popcorn he was eating, as he began to think that sneaking away to a boy girl sleepover at Marinette’s might not have been his best idea…

“Yup!” Nino said without hesitation. A strangled sound escaped Adrien’s throat. I so did not need to know that dude! Adrien thought to himself.

“No way! Way too much leather.” Rose stuck out her tongue in disgust. The leather is actually quite comfortable and formfitting thank you very much!

“Well if I had to pick a dude I guess I would do it with Chat Noir,” Kim said uncertainly.

“Excuse you!” Max squeaked indignantly.

“What about you Marinette? Would you do it with Chat Noir?” Alya said pointedly. Marinette rolled her eyes.

“Please, he’s not my type,” Marinette snickered.

“Not your type!?!” Adrien practically shrieked causing Marinette to nearly jump out of her skin.

“N-n-no not r-r-really,” Marinette stammered.

“What is blonde not your type?! Is heroism not your type? Nice smiles aren’t your type?!?” Adrien continued to screech.

“Sounds like someone has a crush on Chat Noir,” Alya teased

“WHY AREN’T I YOUR TYPE?!” Adrien shouted.

“WHAT?!!?” The group shouted in unison all heads swiveling to face the blonde boy. Marinette stared back at him in stunned silence. Shit!

I watched as an Aquarius fell to her knees and begged for someone else to come back into her life. Seeing this side of her is something new to me. She always had her head and shoulders up and carried herself proudly, and “No” was not part of her vocabulary. She was known to be strong and proud, but to see her walls break it’s just a mess.

I got a call from an Aries asking to get picked up at a party. Watched her as she got in and started to ramble on about her night. Her boyfriend cheated on her and she laughed it off and told me it was his lost. A couple minutes in the ride; she stared out of the window and started to cry. “What’s wrong with me..” she turned and asked me with tears streaming down her face.

A Cancer invited me out for dinner and I arrived at the spot. She eagerly ran to me and jumped into my arms, she hugged me so tightly and then slowly let go and led me to the dinner table. We laughed and joked for hours. She was so vibrant and she cling to every word I’ve said the whole night. She didn’t want the night to be over. I told her I was heading back to watch some movies on Netflix. She invited herself over.

A Capricorn gently placed her hand in mine. A small smile on her face and our eyes met. The train’s sound went away and the crowds felt nonexistent. She slowly leaned her head on my shoulder and pulled herself closer to me. She was gentle and she was calm.

A Gemini called me asking for advice: “The only problem is that I am free. I don’t feel like I’m being smothered by these feelings, and I have no time for this. How can I even deal with this?” She asked and asked, and the more she asked the more she realized her answer. She doesn’t want to feel too pressured, no restraints like the wind.

A Leo placed her hands on my cheeks and and looked me in the eyes: “You did this to yourself. You lost me because you can’t do one simple thing, and that was for you to not like pictures other than mine.” She had a stern look on her face and she slowly push my face away and left me, standing. She turned back and had this smile on her face. “You lost someone who was willing to do everything in her power for you..” and never came back.

A Libra held the bouqet of flowers I sent her and she smiled like so happily, like a child getting their favorite gift on Christmas. She was so giddy and she was so happy, that she kissed me passionately and stared back at the flowers at awe.

A Pisces came into my life and drowned me with such passion and romance. Everything felt like a fairytale. She dreamt of things that were so unreal, but to her, she was going to make it all come true.

A Sagittarius never left my side when I was going through a tough time. She was always there when you least expect it, and that was her way of showing how much she cared for me. She was always saying these smart things which were true, but I was too stubborn to listen to her; yet she continues to preach and demand that I start something new for myself.

A Scorpio was on the phone with me a couple nights back spilling some hard problems to swallow. She loved this man. She was torn, she was lost. She has never felt like this for anyone before and she was scared. I’ve known her for years and to see her scared was something new.

A Taurus dragged me all around the downtown. We went to the mall, an abandoned building, a beautiful house, a music store, a sex shop and last a diner downtown. She finally explained as to why she brought me along with her and why she felt the need to show me. These were the places she finds herself in and who she is and each one she based it off as her as a whole. She laughed and told me how silly it was of her to do so, and I told her she was amazing for that. She blushed and asked if I was being serious. I was. She expects me to show her reflections of me around the city.

A Virgo sat me with on the couch and we talked for hours and hours to no end. We laughed and smoked, and drank coffee. She slowly shifted herself to me and she kissed me, softly. I watched her and she smiled. She said, “Look at me. Do you see what you’re doing to me. I have never felt this way before and you coming into my life means a lot to me.. I hope you will never change because I won’t. Let’s continue to grow as one, and please, don’t you ever leave me..“

You were sick and tired of your attractive idiot neighbor blocking your driveway.

a/n: i felt like writing this weekend and this happened surprise surprise. this is what happens when i’m buzzed off of two venti macchiatos please leave me feedback TT

“What the hell do you think you’re doing?”

You blocked out the angry voice shouting at you from your neighbors now open door. The hurried footsteps were getting closer but you pretended you didn’t hear, continuing to drag your key along the shiny black BMW blocking your driveway. Before you could reach the back tires a hand grasped your wrist, turning you around to face your irritating neighbor.

“Oh! Hey there, neighbor,” you grinned, innocently eyeing your neighbor head to toe. He was dressed casually with his hair tousled as though he’d just woken up. His jaw was tense as his hands tightly held your wrist, nothing but anger found in his eyes. You weren’t sure of his first name but had seen him a few times in silent passing. He was relatively new to the neighborhood, keeping to himself along with his roommate you caught quick glimpses of as well. The two had moved in a month ago and you kept to yourself as well, not bothering to play nice and whip up a housewarming desert you couldn’t even properly bake. It wasn’t until a week ago that you realized your neighbors weren’t exactly your cup of tea. They had people over constantly whether they were attending their overcrowded house parties, movie nights or simply staying over till the sun came back up. It seemed whenever the two had guests around their parking lot quickly become full, causing a new issue to arrive. You noticed the brunette, tall one seemed to have a kick out of parking right in front of your light blue beetle making it impossible for you to maneuver around his pricey sports car. The parties seemed to hit an all time high and you constantly found yourself trapped in your own driveway. You left sticky notes on his windshield, kindly asking him to stop blocking your spot and occasionally he would but it wouldn’t take long for him to fall back into his routine. It wasn’t until he made you late to your job earning you a lengthy lecture from your boss, that you felt you’d had enough, storming outside to drag your keys along his prized possession.

Your decision making skills weren’t the best when you were angry.

A/N: ok you guys I am so sorry but I’m not gonna be able to post imagines for the next couple of days, I have a lot going on in school right now so I won’t be able to work on requests or anything.  so to make it up to you guys, I’m posting a short drabble that I wrote before I even created this blog.  So sorry again, hope you enjoy!

“Cliché,” he muttered under his breath, turning back to his laptop.

“Excuse me?” she demanded. He rolled his eyes as he continued typing. “Please, do explain.”

“Listen,” he starts, closing his laptop lid, “I’ve seen it. There’s at least one in every small town.”

“One what?”

“A tortured artist,” he proclaimed, doing sarcastic jazz hands. “You had a miserable childhood, guessing some daddy issues? Abandonment?”

“Dad and mom, actually, but do go on Sherlock Holmes,” she corrected, leaning back in her seat. He pursed his lips before continuing.

“Because your life is so sad you created an outlet for yourself, an anchor of sorts where you can channel all of your negative emotions. Lo and behold you just so happen to have a knack for art, and thus begins your journey as a tortured artist.” He finished with a small smirk as he imitated what she had done before and leaned back into his seat, crossing his arms.

“Very good,” she drawled, leaning against the table. “You got me spot on.” He nodded nonchalantly. “Although I must say this entire tangent was very hypocritical.”

“Hypocritical?” he questioned, also leaning in.

“Oh yes, you see you’re quite the cliché yourself. The tragic writer.”

“Tragic writer?” he mused, taking a bite of his sundae. “Explain, please.”

“You, too, had a rough childhood. Not abandonment like me, though. No, your family had money issues. Mommy was never around so daddy had to do all the work, and he wasn’t the most responsible and reliable parent. You’re the oldest, so you take it upon yourself to act as a parental figure for your younger siblings. However, you quickly learn that it is much too difficult for you, not even a legal adult yet, to take care of yourself and others. You come to the decision that your family is better off without you. One less mouth to feed, one less occupied bed, one less person to buy necessities for. You run away and take care of yourself. You try your hardest to find a job, and you eventually find one at some run-down place where it’s not busy enough for anyone to give a damn about your age. You work as hard as you can, saving up as much money as possible until finally you made enough. For months you’ve been dying to buy yourself a laptop, a place where you can create and store your writing. You buy it and immediately start writing, isolating yourself from the world and finding solace and comfort in your own writing, where you can play god over any character you create. This eventually turns you into quite the brooding guy, hence the sardonic humor and lack of close friends.” She finished her analysis with a smirk and sipped on her milkshake, eyebrows raised. His mouth was slightly agape.

“Just one sibling,” he mumbled.

“What was that?”

“I said,” he spoke up, “just one sibling. You said siblings. With an s. Plural. I just have one.” She shrugged, unbothered by his correction.

“I’m not Sherlock Holmes, Jughead.”

I think I can speak for many fanfiction writer’s out there…If you’re reading a fic, please, PLEASE leave a little comment in the reply or in the writer’s askbox/message.

Yes, of course we love that you give the story a like, but still…as much as I hate admiting it, we writer’s crave that extra verification, the extra support that says that what we do actually matter to people.

A simple; “I really loved this!” Or “I love your writing!” is enough to put a smile on our lips and brighten our day AND give us that extra inspiration to continue doing what we love so much and want to share with people in the fandom.

So please, give those amazing writer’s out there the love and support they deserve. And if you’re shy, remember, there is often a anonymous option in the askbox…

Contacting Spirit Guides and other entities

If you have questions, message me. Spirit work is no joke!

Before we go over the steps of real contact with spirit, let’s go over some warnings and some advice on technique. This guide will work for calling any spirit, whether it be a fluffy unicorn bunny or something extremely uncomfortable and dangerous. It’s like picking up the phone: anyone can be on the other end.

When you do spirit work, you are interacting with a real world filled with infinitely many, and infinitely varied, beings.

  • There are some spirits that prey on humans like wolves prey on rabbits.
  • There are some spirits that are extremely kind and helpful.

In my experience, whatever you call will come.

If you leave your request open-ended, anything may come to you.

The more specific you are, the better.

But you must understand what you are doing when you call spirits to you.

For example:

  • “Spirits of light, come to me!” Many demons are considered to be “of light”, as well as gods you may be uncomfortable dealing with (Lucifer comes to mind).
  • “All spirits of darkness, leave me!” Well, spirits of all nocturnal animals could be interpreted as being spirits of darkness. The essence of storms and night-time, or even a spirit of sleepiness, could be considered spirits of darkness. Are you sure these are forces you want to send away?

Do not use poetic language. Speak plainly.

Instead of using flowery language, simply say what you mean.

Begin by writing down your intent.

  • What kind of spirit do you want to interact with? (Good, evil, nice, kind, mean? Nature, elemental, bunny, unicorn, demon?)
  • What is your purpose for calling this spirit? (Searching for a guide/guardian/teacher/friend? Have questions to ask? Need help with magic?)
  • How powerful do you believe this spirit will be? Is it going to be more powerful than your abilities to banish it? Never call up what you cannot put down.
  • What do you have to give back to this spirit? (Offerings? Time? Energy?)

In my experience, all spirits get something out of an interaction with a human. It could simply be that their curiosity is sated. A spirit could just be curious as to what kind of human is sending out a call in to their world! It could be that helping or aiding you assists their calling in life or a job they currently have. It could also be that they would like some kind of payment in return, such as offerings of incense, food, or drink. If you have the ability and inclination, have some small offerings on hand. Coffee, tobacco, any foods (I find they seems to like processed foods less), and any alcohols are good. Even a glass of fresh water and/or a little incense will be good.

Once you have your intent written down, formulate your call. Here are three example calls that I would use myself.

  • “I am [magical name]. I am calling out to the spirit world. I am seeking any good and helpful spirits that are willing to help a human such as myself. I wish for assistance with [guardianship/teaching/guidance/etc]. Please come to me so we may interact.”
  • “I am [magical name]. I am calling out to the spirit world. I am seeking any noble and strong warrior spirits that are willing to help a human such as myself. I wish for assistance with guarding my home. In return I can offer brandy and cigars. Please come to me so we may make a deal.”
  • “I am [magical name]. I am calling out to the spirit world. I am seeking a spirit of storms and rain that are willing to help a human such as myself. I wish for rain to be brought to my region. In return I will tell others about my experience so you gain fame in the human world. Please come to me so that we may help each other.”

Quick notes:

  • For spirit work, try adopting a magical name. It does not sit well with me that someone uses their true name immediately with spirits. It’s like giving your telephone number to every stranger you meet. I use my online name, typically Briar although now it is Thicket. Magical names do not have to be permanent. Choose any name or word you like.
  • “I am calling out to the spirit world” can be replaced by any phrase or action that connects you with “the other side”. Find an action or method of connection that feels comfortable to you.
  • It is important to mention that you would like a spirit who wants to help you! It may seem self-evident, but trust me, it is not. Plenty of spirits come to my call who just want to see what’s going on, or who want a chance at the offerings at my side.

Actually calling the spirits, interacting with them, and formulating a relationship

Suppose you would like to meet any guardian or guide spirits that you may have already. Try using a call like this:

“I am [magical name]. I am calling out to the spirit world. I am seeing any guardians, guides, or helpful spirits that are attached to me. Please visit me so I may get to know you.”

Take your notebook and write down the exact call you plan on using. If you like, have some offerings on hand (this is just good form in general). Have with you any divination tools you plan on using. Also have with you the basic tools for banishment.

Sit in a quiet place. Make your environment as witchy as possible to get you in the right mindset. Candles and incense work great if you have them, otherwise try atmospheric music. Do whatever it takes to make you feel like you are connected to the “other” world. Try praying for protection or wearing protection amulets that you may have.

When you are ready, read your call. Read it out loud or mentally, it doesn’t matter; nothing on this plane of existence will hear it anyway.

At this point one of two things will happen: a spirit will visit you, or it will not.

If a spirit does not appear within a few moments, read your call again. Repeat this for three calls total, then try again the next day or the next week. If necessary, do divination to discover why spirits did not want to appear for you. Is it possible the spirit you called for does not exist? Try a different call (more will be listed below) for practice. Is it possible you just do not know how to detect a spirit if it does appear? If nothing seems to be working after a week or so of trying, send me a message. Please send me the exact calls you used.

Remember that spirits are not physical. It is extremely uncommon that a person will see a spirit with their two eyes. A being isn’t just going to appear three dimensionally in your bedroom. Most likely, that being will appear within your imagination. The imagination is an extremely powerful magical tool and should not be ignored because it is “make believe”. If you call an air elemental you may imagine a whirlwind, a bird, a cloud, or anything else that is ‘airy’ in nature, for example.

When your imagination suddenly changes with an image of something, mentally or verbally greet it. Try, “Hello, you may call me [magical name]. Are you replying to my call?”

Understanding what a spirit is communicating to you is tricky. If only they spoke plain English! Look for any sign that the spirit has responded. The image of the spirit may seem to move closer to you, or further away. It may appear to be happy, sad, or upset. You may suddenly get empathetic feelings of agreement or disagreement. You may actually hear, feel, or think words. It is your job to interpret what the spirit is trying to communicate with you. If you like, ask the spirit to influence your divinatory tools so you can communicate through those.

Avoid repeating questions. They do not seem to like it. Ask once, and if you can’t interpret, apologize and ask another question instead.

If absolutely nothing seems to happen, take it as a sign that the spirit did not respond to you. In this situation, if the spirit does not respond, say, “if you are not here to answer my call and assist me, please leave. Thank you for your time.” There is no need to be hostile or rude, just send them away. If they refuse to leave, it is time to banish.

If something does happen, for example if you sense a feeling of agreement or the image seems to nod at you, take this as an affirmative that the spirit is here to answer your call. Continue with your line of questioning. Try these questions:

  • “What may I call you?” (Do not ask for their name directly, I have never had good results when I do).
  • “Are you [the spirit I asked for]?”
  • “Would you like to continue communicating this way?”
  • “What is your role in my life?”

If you are here to make a deal and get it over with, don’t drag out the small talk. “Are you the spirit I called for? Will you protect my house for some brandy? Awesome, I’ll pay you once a week and we’ll revisit the contract in a month.”

If you are there to make a lasting connection, speak for as long as you like or until the spirit appears to become restless or bored.

When the spirit departs, or when you ask it to depart, the mental image of them should leave their mind. Carefully distinguish between having that spirit actively within your imagination, and memories of the spirit within your imagination.

After this first meeting, you can call the same spirit by the name they gave you. Try, “the spirit that gave me the name [spirit’s name] on the date [the date you first met the spirit], please come to me so we may speak.”

Banishment

I don’t have the time or inclination to include full banishing rituals in this small guide. Simply google “how to banish a spirit” or ask a friendly Tumblurian to help :)

Detecting fakes

Alright, so here’s what you gotta do. Just pay attention. If something feels disturbing, wrong, or scary, DO NOT IGNORE THOSE FEELINGS. Fear is an instinct that exists to keep us safe. It is not you being a scaredy cat. It is not you being silly, nervous, or having stage fright. Ask the spirit to leave immediately and do a quick cleansing on your space.

Think about what you asked for and judge a spirit by those standards. An air spirit is not going to take the form of a boulder. A rain spirit is not going to take the form of a candle flame.

If something sounds too good to be true, it is. If a spirit is telling you that you are the chosen one, that you need it to be powerful, etc., you are going to be dinner. Send it away.

Practice calls

I would consider these calls to be relatively safe and good just to get a little experience in. Ask these spirits to come visit you for a short time, then bid them farewell. There is no need to get a name from them unless you really want to call them back. The offerings are just suggestions, to give you some ideas.

  • “I am seeking rabbit or hare spirits that wish to visit me in exchange for some fresh lettuce.”
  • “I desire to contact any spirits of flowers who are nearby, so I may appreciate your beauty.” (Remember to give the flowers many compliments in exchange for their time)
  • “I would like to visit with a good and benevolent water spirit who will teach me about healing.”
  • “I am seeking a dog spirit who would like a nice treat in exchange for his time.”
  • “I wish to speak with a bird spirit, who can show me what the world looks like from the sky. In exchange I can offer bird seed.”
  • “I wish to contact a spirit of beauty who can help teach me magics for clearer skin. In exchange I can give you three dried roses.”
  • “I would like to call upon the spirit of clutter that lives in my home, so that we may make a deal for you to leave my property.”
  • “I would like to call upon the ghost of [my deceased pet*****] so we may visit and share good times.”
  • “I desire to contact any good and benevolent spirits who are directly involved in my life, so we may speak and get to know each other.”
  • “I desire to contact any spirits who wish harm against me, so I may make amends and heal our relationship.”
  • “I am seeking a spirit of hard work to bless me in my future endeavors, in exchange for a small shrine built in your honor.”

*****DO NOT call human relatives to you at this point. It is way too easy for a demon or spook to pretend to be a human relative. It is okay if human spirits come to you in general, but it is a suckerpunch to the gut to realize that your beloved departed is really an evil spirit in disguise. Stick with animal friends for now.

Calling gods and other such beings

This method will work to call gods as well. Be very careful of petty spirits that pretend to be gods. Judge each being by its folklore and what you know about them.

What to do with offerings?

For any offering, set it aside and watch the spirit enjoy it. When the spirit is done, dispose of the offerings just as you would clear a plate from the guest table.

Pour any liquids on to the ground or down the drain. Bury or compost foods, or dispose of them in the trash. Simply allow incense to burn and throw away the ashes.

If you misgender or deadname a trans person please DO:

- Reread and correct yourself before pressing “send” if you are communicating virtually;

- Erase or color over your mistake if you are using written traditional communication;

- Correct yourself, briefly* apologize and continue what you were saying if you are using live (either oral or sign) communication or if you sent/gave your written communication before spotting your mistake.

*Some trans people prefer a more extensive apology.

- Make sure the trans person knows you understand this is serious and hurtful and that you will put in all of the necessary efforts not to do it again.

Please DON’T:

- Pretend you didn’t just misgender or deadname them.

- Spend 45 minutes going on and on about how difficult it is for you to adapt to these “inconvenient” demands. It’s awkward and invalidating.

- Avoid apologizing.

- Gaslight the trans person or minimize their feelings or make them feel like their gender and name are unimportant.

When They Try to Take Us Down

Summary: Phil doesn’t like when hate preachers come to campus. They make him nervous and uncomfortable. But this time, Dan is there to help him through it in an unexpected, yet pleasant way.

There is an angry aura surrounding campus in the form of ignorant slurs and angry responses. This only happens on the occasion, but it makes Phil nervous each time, a pit in his stomach and his throat closing up as he tries to walk as fast as possible past the angry crowd.

There was a man, dressed in preacher’s clothes and holding a sign with a list of the types of people who were going to “go to hell”. Phil didn’t have to look to know that homosexuals and masturbators and adulterers were on the list. He swallowed and ducked his head, trying to move as fast as he could. Dan was ahead of him, probably shaking his head and scoffing as he does every time they passed by a preacher like this. Sometimes Phil thinks he’s more upset about this kind of thing than Phil is, despite being the heterosexual one in their friendship, just by the way he wasn’t afraid to shout his opinions right back.

“…so by that logic the whole second canto is obviously a veiled critique of Meroc’s appropriation of the Hebitian epic style for State propaganda purposes, and - uh - Garak?”

“Yes?”

“Are you playing footsie?”

“What a charming term! I’m not familiar with it. But please do continue, Doctor - I’m eager to see how this fascinatingly wrongheaded analysis of yours will play out.”

“Hang on - I’m winning, aren’t I? I’m winning the argument, and you’re trying to distract me.”

“Whatever do you mean.”

Tethered Down

Vlad isn’t used to being interrupted while working in his lab. Its walls are reinforced lead and its ceiling is buried twenty feet below basement level. The room is missing from the building plans, invisible to the code specs, and inaccessible to any snooping government agents. The Guys in White’s detection equipment has never found it. They would have better luck finding some hollowed out space by banging on the side of their own heads.

So when Vlad hears the clatter of tripped-over machine parts and light, breathy cursing from behind him, he knows no normal person has come to find him. This makes him crack a razor-fanged smile. Vlad lowers the welding torch he’d been using to stitch some metal parts together for a new portal hub. He raises the goggles from off his red eyes, and turns around in mock formality.

“Daniel you should have told me you were coming. I would have put some tea on for the both of us.”

Vlad is right—Danny is standing at the other end of the lab, but he doesn’t look how Vlad had pictured. No jumpsuit, no balled-up fists, no murderous green glinting eyes. Danny is entirely human, and he looks only a bit bothered, like he’s thinking too hard about what to say.

“Vlad,” Danny settles on.

Vlad’s smile doesn’t waver. He takes a few steps forward, boots clacking out hollow sonorous beats on the cavernous floor. Danny seeking him out is almost always a treat. It means he’s done something to annoy or frustrate or enrage Danny enough to be sought out without any effort on Vlad’s part. It’s already a victory of sorts for Vlad, and he’s eager to know what he’s done.

Vlad spreads his arms, as if to encompass the far wall of enormous floating monitors, the pink-swirling portal in the back left corner, the tables and shelves filled with cobbled-together metal gadgets. Vlad glances down. There are three empty toppled paint cans at Danny’s feet, clearly tripped over and just now settling.

“So, to what do I owe this delight? Have you come to hear about my specs for the new Maddie AI? Or maybe you’d like to hear about my recent cloning breakthroughs. Or—“ Vlad swoops in closer, circling Danny, delighting in the way Danny’s head whips about to follow his motions, “—is there something else even better you’d like to discuss?”

“Something else.”

Vlad frowns just slightly. There’s no passion in Danny’s voice, rare for a kid motivated almost entirely by his unstable emotions. There’s no fire in his eyes either. No accusation or quick remark lashing from his tongue. Danny’s eyes are calm, and his tone is simply flat.

“What, then?” Vlad asks, and he loses the traction of their banter.

“I went on a college visit yesterday.”

Vlad pauses. He’s half-stooped over Danny, expecting more to be said. Vlad finds himself with nothing to go on. “…Okay,” he says.

“I like the place a lot. And people with my grades get in there all the time. Especially if I keep them up for the rest of junior year I stand a good chance.”

“What place?”

“Doesn’t matter.”

“Then why are you telling me.” Vlad slides away from Danny. His hope of being cursed out is fading, and his brow furrows. His face brightens at a sudden thought, “Did you feel the urge to tell me because I’ve simply become a sort of father figure to you?”

“I want to go there. It’s three hours away by car. One and a half by the Fenton RV, but that’s with my dad driving.” Danny’s voice has become clinical, like the very words are tedious, like he’s talking to a customer service representative and he’s bored. “And it’s an hour away if I fly.”

“Get to the point Daniel. I’m a busy man.”

“No you’re not. You just have a lot of creepy pet projects.” Danny motions stiffly to the pod-like vats that once contained Danny’s old clones. “My point is I can’t keep super-heroing if I go there.”

“Ah,” Vlad brightens again. He leans in. “A crisis then? A conflict of character, of morality, and you’ve come to me for advice? You’re desperate to know if you can hang up your cape to chase a dream so banal as a normal college life?”

“God—no—shut up just a minute. Not everything’s that dramatic.” Danny leans away, sizing Vlad up. “My angsty teenage phase has been over for like a year. And what are you, like, 40? Chill out for like five minutes, for once.”

Vlad deflates a little, frowning.

Danny clears his throat to continue. “I’m not ‘hanging up my cape’. I’m not making any rash decisions. I’m just going to college, because that’s what I want to do, for me. And I’m doing it. I’ve still got my own life to live. But that means I’m not around Amity to help with the ghost patrol.”

“You’d willfully leave them unprotected, hmm?”

“Please. Mom and Dad are still kicking ghost ass in the meantime. And I’m not that irresponsible. I’m hiring a replacement.”

“Oh…who? Valerie?”

Danny snorts. “Hell no. She’s got a full ride to some college out in Michigan for field hockey. She’s getting the hell out like I am.” Danny’s face sobers. “No, I’m hiring you, Vlad. You’re going to pick up whatever slack I leave behind, got it?”

Vlad’s face splits into a grin, and he barks a laugh. Then he throws his head back and roars, teeth glinting, eyes deeply red and alight. He regains his composure with a few rolling chuckles, and fixes Danny with a condescending smirk. “Oh, adorable. You think you can make me do what you want.”

“Yeah, I can.”

“Can’t.”

“Can,” Danny answers firmly. “Because if you refuse, then I’m going back home, and the second I get through that front door, I’m doing this.” Danny straightens his shoulders just a fraction, and a glimmering white ring splits at his midsection, enveloping him, repainting him as something sallow and yet bright, cold and yet flickering hot, dead and so monstrously alive. And in some ways, he looks exactly the same. “I realized I don’t care about keeping my secret anymore, really. Mom and Dad accept Phantom as a helper way more often than they ever try to shoot at him, and they’d accept me. And I don’t think it would really change much anymore. I’m not 14 anymore. I could handle letting them know.”

Vlad’s jaw is tight. “…So?”

“So that’s where we’re different, V-man.” Danny flashes a condescending smile to match the one Vlad had worn. “You can’t dare to let them know. The Wisconsin Ghost? You? God, it would end you. My parents, and the town, and the government—they’d all be at your throat in an instant. You’d lose everything.” Danny rocks back on his heels. “And I’ll out you in a heartbeat if you give me a reason to. Because you don’t hold any leverage against me anymore, Vlad. I’ve grown up, and I’m over it.”

“You don’t…mean that,” Vlad answers slowly, dumbly.

“I do.” Another flash, and the rings sweep past Danny to reveal the simple body of a human once more.

“…Just for college?” Vlad doesn’t like the edge in his voice, the quiet anxiety. “Four years?”

Danny shrugs. “Who knows? Maybe I’ll come back home after college if it turns out ghost hunting is the thing I wanna do with my life. Maybe I won’t.” Danny steps forward, encroaching on Vlad, suddenly taller and surer than Vlad had ever seen him. “I’ll be home during breaks—I’m sure I’ll happily pick up the ghost hunting then. But maybe I’ll get an internship somewhere? Maybe I’ll take a term abroad, you know? Maybe I’ll stay a whole lot of years more and get my PhD in astrophysics. ‘Dr. Fenton’, like my mom. It’s got a nice ring to it.”

“You wouldn’t…” Vlad mutters. “Who says I’ll keep doing it that long, hmm?”

“Go ahead. Break your promise whenever. But the second you do, I’m giving your identity to everyone I know. And besides. You’re not going anywhere anyway.” Danny takes a few steps back, and motions around him. “This? Your whole secret lair down here? You’ve tethered yourself to this place. You’ve got no family anywhere, and you’ve got no ambitions in your life that don’t involve me or my mom. You’re 40 and you’re sad and you’ve made your bed here and I know you don’t intend to go anywhere else, even with all your money, because what purpose would you even have anywhere else, Vlad? You could do this for the rest of your life, picking up my slack. You just might.”

Danny flashes to ghost form again, and kicks off into the air, and hovers up to the ceiling from which he entered.

“Me, Vlad? I’m young, and I’ve got my life ahead of me, and I can still do something with it. I’m everything you’re not.”

Vlad says nothing. He only stares. He hears only static in his ears.

“See you later, or maybe never again, Fruit Loop.”
