Christopher Walken, Zoe Kazan, Anthony Mackie and Sam Rockwell star in the play about a man who has been searching for his lost hand for more than 40 years.

TODAY IN THEATRE HISTORY: In 2000, performances of Michael John LaChiusa’s musical The Wild Party begin on Broadway at the Virginia Theatre, starring Toni Collette, Mandy Patinkin and Eartha Kitt. Coincidentally, it is the second New York musical of the season to be based on that 1928 poem by Joseph Moncure March: Andrew Lippa’s musical of the same title opened Off-Broadway at Manhattan Theatre Club a few weeks earlier.
