play with your mind

Sorry

pairing: Loki x reader

request: @lady-loki-ren request. Loki x reader. Where he returns to Asgard after leaving his wife. ???(asgardian reader)

warnings: none!

Two weeks.

It had been two weeks since Loki had left you; you had no inkling to where he was or what he was doing and you thought it was all your fault.

Maybe it had been all your fault? The two of you had got caught up in a dreadful argument after you had said something small which then later turned into a screaming match before Loki disappeared in front of your eyes. You had searched for him all over Asgard but he was nowhere, where could he have gone to?

Heimdall said he hadn’t seen him meaning there was no way he had gone to another planet; you were left crying to yourself, just wanting you infamous husband back. The nights were cold and empty without him by your side and they carried out for what seemed hours on end.

This night was no different from the others: just you standing on your balcony, in yours and Loki’s chambers, staring out at the beautiful view of Asgard in front of you because you couldn’t sleep, and there was no point in you trying to go back to bed because you still wouldn’t be able to sleep.

It was evident that you lacked in sleep, dark circles were under your eyes and you slouched quite a lot but it wasn’t your fault, or was it?

The argument played over in your head and you felt yourself wince at the harsh words that you both had thrown at each other.

“Loki, I’m getting tired of your tricks that you play, they hurt people - they hurt me. Why can’t you see that?” you asked, your voice sounding soft but the anger and pain you held within was evident.

“What do you want, y/n? What do you want? You want me to be normal, is that it? You don’t want me to be this monster that I am?” Loki shouted at you suddenly, his harsh tone causing you to flinch in response.

“Loki, you’re not a monster-” you started but you were cut off by Loki.

“Then what am I?!” He shouted at you, “Everyone thinks I’m a monster - even you! My own dear wife thinks that I am a monster and that I should be locked up and never spoke of or thought of or even heard of again!”

His eyes glossed over with tears of rage and deep pain - you could see this, and you felt incredibly bad, you felt as if this was all your fault. However, Loki had been playing his mind ‘tricks’ on people and you had to stop him before he could go further. You felt as if this wasn’t the man you married anymore, he was changing. You did not like this change.

“Loki, darling, I never insinuated you were a monster” you said stepping closer to him, reaching out to hold his face but he pushed your hand away strongly and harshly, “I love-”

“You do not love me. No one could love ME! You even said yourself that I h-hurt people! Who would love someone like that? Not anybody - not you-”

“Loki, you’re not evening listening to me!” you raised your voice, you were beginning to grow impatient with him, “You’re my husband! My one true love! We’re together, we help each other, do you not remember your wedding vows that you said to me with tears in your eyes?”

“Of course I do” he spat out in such a bitter way that it caused you to snap - you couldn’t take it anymore.

“If you don’t love me then go! If you think you would be better off without you then just go - I’m sure its what the people of Asgard want you to do now that you’re becoming worse and it’s obvious that you want to too” you shouted at him, desperately trying to hold your tears back. You turned around, not wanting to face him anymore - you couldn’t at this time.

“Fine” Loki whispered with pain in his voice; you turned around quickly but Loki had gone. Just like you had told him to.

You let out a melancholy sigh, feeling the same tears of regret you had every night fall down your cheeks, slowly. “I’m sorry” you whispered to the sky, hoping that somehow, somewhere Loki could hear you and come home.

“I’m sorry” you heard a smooth voice behind you and you turned around without hesitation, wanting to see your husband. Loki looked a little rough, he had bags under his eyes just like you did and you could tell by his demeanour that he was still upset.

You stood a couple seconds before running over to him, wrapping your arms tightly around him and hiding your face in his neck, “I’m so sorry, Loki, I love you so much-”

“Darling, it’s okay” Loki spoke softly, moving your head so that your forehead rested upon yours and he could hold your face in both his hands.

“I was starting to think you weren’t coming back and I-It would be all my fault, and everyone would hate me-”

“Stop your rambling, my dear, I’m back. I’m back for you” he whispered, stroking your cheek softly with his cold fingertips, “I should’ve listened to you”

“I love you” you whispered, a small smile appearing at your lips.

“I love you too, darling” Loki whispered back, capturing you in a well needed kiss.

Things that I learned in my first year at university

1. Some people are not there to work, they’re just joking around. Don't waste your time with them and try to meet the people that really care.

2. One semester passes at the speed of light. Start from day one and try not to let anything unrevised for too long (one week is considered too long).

3. Your teachers will be your saviors. They are the ones who know everything so make sure you have a good working relationship with them (let them see you know stuff and are willing to work) and then when you’re having more trouble learning something they will gladly help you.

4. Be consistent with your routine. A routine helps you get started more easily and defeat the inertia and laziness. Organizing my day as a working day, with study starting at 10 in the morning and classes in the afternoon, helps me focusing on the things I have to do, not waste time, and also have tiny pieces of time during the day to treat myself.

5. Treat yourself. Sometimes I take the bus instead of the metro because I like to watch the views. Sometimes I buy a cake for lunch. Sometimes I take a break in the park and, at the end of the day I go on a walk. Make sure you don’t forget yourself in the middle of everything. You’re the most important thing!

6. Find things that motivate you. A nice looking library, a park, a playlist, everything is valid as long as it makes you ready to work.

7. Choose your group wisely. When making group projects make sure you choose the people who really want to work, and if they don’t talk to your teachers, they will advise you. Also, don’t be afraid to make a group project on your own. You will survive, trust me! And you will learn a lot!

8. The front seat is the best. Choose a good seat in class where you can see and hear your teacher and they can hear you. The front seat is my favorite because it is easier to ignore everyone else and focus on the class.

9. Exercise. Really! Do something like walking every day, or yoga, or whatever you prefer, but make sure you move. It helps your brain and your body.

10. Have fun. At least every week or twice a month, go somewhere you like or visit a new place. Play the tourist and take your mind away from the work. That’s the way to keep your mind sane.

Being on the Avengers with Peter Parker would include..

- LMFAO y’all a bunch of headasses to begin with

- having the most precious relationship in the world

- A LOT of running around avengers tower

- and annoying tony

- taking dorky polaroids of one another

- becoming the iconic young duo of the avengers that is always talked about in the media

- being inseparable from each other

- reason behind that is that you two were the youngest in the team and felt a connection upon your first meeting

- always training together at headquarters

- (y/n) please don’t do that thing with your leg today’

- helping each other with homework

- natasha thinking that you two are the biggest dorks in the world

what they say: Jeonghan is such a popular member, you don’t understand what it’s like to bias an underappreciated member

me, in my head: Jeonghan is so much more than a pretty face and a “swindler”, and everything else he has been portrayed to be. He has showcased consistent growth and expansion in his talents along with a comfort in who he is as a person. He no longer clings to his title of being the angel, nor is his hair his defining quality. As someone who openly stated that he can’t do much without the members and is lacking, he has developed a talent for MC-ing and maintaining an entertaining atmosphere on his own. Jeonghan’s emotional intelligence proves to be an asset to his relationships with others, as he is able to read the member’s emotions and quickly deduce what to do to bring them comfort or note a discrepancy in behavior. He is able to convey these observations well when needed, in an understandable and gentle way. Since pre-debut he has been noted to be the member with the best personality. He can be mischievous but that doesn’t mean he’s uncaring or untrustworthy, in a sense he causes a small commotion because he finds his brothers cute and enjoys seeing their reactions to situations. On the note of emotional intelligence there is also comfort he has in his own emotions, as he is able to openly express his insecurities and thoughts on things that many idols would not feel very confident in doing so. He will openly cry over friendships that mean a lot to him, because he loves that deeply. His intelligence goes beyond that sphere - he is a quick thinker, resourceful and down right clever in achieving what he wants. He’ll come up with a course of action on the spot before anyone can react. OFD Staff members were even impressed with his quick thinking. He is not caught up in “the pride of a man” or pride in general, he’s a humble and will take everything in with reason, even if it invalidates his identity. He is comfortable in who he is and understanding of why he gets these comments - though you can see the slight disturbance in his eyes at these times (the boy is TIRED stop it). As a performer, Jeonghan has shown tremendous skill in integrating the emotions of the concept in his face, demeanor and actions. His vocals alone have improved quite a bit since debut, he has found the way to utilize the beauty and uniqueness of his voice. His dancing is fluid, sharp and gracefully articulated from torso to limbs. It’s like he transcends on stage in front of your eyes. He was a freshly graduated young adult without a clue on what he wanted to do with his life and what he could do with his life due to his assumed mediocrity. Despite wanting to quit when times became difficult for him as a trainee, he didn’t. He preserved and is living the dream that found him. His role model is Lee Taemin, as Taemin has shown growth in talent since his debut and has been noted for being skillful as an overall performer. Jeonghan is constantly striving to be better, for himself and for Seventeen. But people are more interested in his hair and soft features as opposed to his drive. Don’t tell me he’s not underappreciated just because he’s popular.

The music was blaring as Billy pulled into the school car park at his usual fast speed.
He was about to take another drag of his cigarette when he slammed on the brakes, his knuckles whitening as he gripped the steering wheel.
In his usual car park sat an unfamiliar black Mustang SVO. There was barely any spare  parks left at this time of morning but he had never had to worry before.
Everyone knew that was his park.
Billy’s nostrils flared as he let out a breath and Max gripped her skateboard a little tighter.
He drove forward and suddenly swung his Camaro into an empty park and yanked the keys out of the ignition.
“Don’t be late today.” He said sternly as Max opened her door.
She rolled her eyes, and was thankful he missed it before slamming the door and heading into school.
Billy stepped out of his car and took a drag of his cigarette.
He let the smoke fester in his lungs as he closed the door behind him.
His lips parted and he blew out a cloud of smoke as he stalked towards the strange car.
Who did this douchbag think he was?
He glanced through the window of the car as he walked to the front but saw no incriminating items inside.
It didn’t matter. Billy would find them.
With a final puff of his smoke he stubbed it out on the hood of the Mustang and strode into school.

Billy gripped the wheel in anticipation, his tongue darting across his lips and when he found the park empty he smirked.
Four days.
For four days he had arrived every morning to find that damned mustang in his park with no sign of the driver and it was always gone before Billy could confront the driver after school.
But not today.
Nobody messed with Billy Hargrove, he made sure of it.
So this morning he had left early. In fact he was the only car in the car park but that didn’t bother him.
He would wait until the car showed up and finally he could give the douchebag a piece of his mind.
“There’s not even teachers here yet.”
Max complained in the passengers seat.
Billy ignored her and turned the music up louder.
He could just make out a groan above the music before Max got out of the car and skated off towards the entrance.
Slowly the car park filled up as more students arrived and finally, he saw it.
The black mustang pulled into the car park and Billy smirked, turning down his music as he let out a cloud of smoke.
The sun was shining down on the windscreen of the car and he couldn’t yet make out the driver. But he clenched his fists nevertheless and opened his door.
His boots hit the pavement and he stepped out of his car, letting the door fall shut behind him.
He turned slowly, shaking out his shoulders as he went and when his eyes fell on the driver he stopped.
This wasn’t just a douchbag.
It was a girl.
He pushed out his lips and leant against his own car as the girl gathered her things and got out.
She wore a tight black dress that cut off at the thighs and a denim jacket. Even her hair had been teased for maximum volume.
Confidence radiated from her and thanks to a light breeze he caught the scent of her sweet perfume.
Feeling his gaze on her back, she turned and glanced in his direction.
“Can I help you?”
He smirked, amused by the sassy tone  in her voice.
“You’ve been parking in my spot.”
She raised an eye brow and put her hands on her hips.
“Didn’t realise there was assigned parking.” Her voice was thick with sarcasm and he enjoyed the way she was challenging him.
She clearly didn’t know who she was talking too. Still, she was pretty, so Billy thought he’d go easy on her.
“Well, now you know.” He flashed her his winning smile.
The one that always made the girls swoon.
Only this girl didn’t swoon.
Instead she rolled her eyes and he could have sworn he heard her mutter “Loser” before she turned her back and walked into the school.
Billy took a drag of his cigarette.
Who did this girl think she was?
She hadn’t seemed the least bit phased by him and he wondered what a girl like her was doing in Hawkins.
There was something about this girl that did something to him and he had always liked a challenge.

You dropped your bag to the floor and slid behind the desk next to the window.
Classmates were chatting as the room filled up for class and you played with the pen in your hand as you glanced around.
The guy from this morning walked into the room and almost instantly all the girls giggled and flicked their hair in unison.
You rolled your eyes as he leant across a desk in the front of the class and started flirting with the girl sitting there.
You turned your attention to the window and absentmindedly played with your hair as your mind drifted.
The shrill laugh of a girl got your attention and you looked to see the guy from this morning laughing with the girl in front of him.
Only he kept glancing at you, almost as if to make sure you were watching and he ran a hand through his hair.
He leant forward and said something to the girl, though you were too far away to hear but he stared at you while he spoke, the edges of his lips turning up into a smirk.
“Bye, Billy!” You heard her purr back to him, flicking her hair and fluttering her eyelashes so much you thought they might just fly off.
You rolled your eyes as ‘Billy’ strutted through the class room and when he reached your desk he trailed his fingers across it.
“Didn’t your mother teach you it’s rude to stare, Princess?” He smirked and walked past you, letting his hand brush against your shoulder before he sunk into the desk behind you.
His cologne drifted and you hid your face as you took in his scent.
God he smelt delicious, even if he was an asshole.
You had to admit, he was ridiculously good looking. You weren’t blind, he was fucking gorgeous. But you had seen guys like him in every town you had lived and they were always the same.
The same cocky alpha dog routine, thinking they could get away with whatever they wanted.
You hated to admit that you usually fell for the act, but not this time.
At least that’s what you told yourself as you stared out the window, thoughts of Billy Hargrove running through your mind.

The rest of the week was uneventful.
You had passed Billy a few times in the hallway and he had done the same thing every time.
Licked his lips, ran a hand through his hair, smirked, and walked past you. Sometimes with a “Hey, Princess.” and sometimes not.
God it was driving you wild, though you refused to admit it.
It was no secret, the feud brewing between Billy and Steve and since you had moved to town you had gotten to know Steve quite well.
It wasn’t just the rivalry either, his ego or Billy’s reputation with the other girls in school.
You had seen Billy with his sister one morning in the car park and although you hadn’t been close enough to actually hear the words spoken, it was clear by the body language that Billy wasn’t exactly being a loving brother.
So when you arrived at the Halloween party to see him chugging beer from the keg you rolled your eyes.
The crowd around him chanted his name and you grimaced as he let out a cheer.
“That’s how you do it, Hawkins! That’s how you do it!” He yelled.
You watched as he wiped his mouth with the back of his hand and stuck a cigarette between his lips.
His friends pushed him into the house, still chanting his name and cheering victoriously.

A few hours and a dozen drinks later you were leant against the wall, taking a break from all the dancing you had been doing.
The music lowered slightly and Carol moved into the centre of the makeshift dance floor.
“Who’s ready for spin the bottle?!”
She was met by wolf whistles and cheers of agreement.
The room cleared out slightly and you pushed off the wall, deciding to get some fresh air.
Before you could get there however, you were blocked by an arm leaning against the wall.
“You not playing?” Billy asked, a coy smile on his face.
“Sorry to disappoint.” You shook your head.
He chuckled and licked his lips.
He leant closer to you and you saw his eyes linger over your body before meeting your gaze.
“Cmon, What are you scared of, Princess?”
You glanced at the circle forming on the floor and back at Billy.
Maybe it was the booze talking or maybe it was the chemistry sparking between the two of you. Either way, you found yourself smirking back at him.
”Fuck it.”
You grabbed the beer from his hand and finished it in one swig before sauntering off to join the circle.
Billy raised an eyebrow and followed after you.
You watched as Carol and some guy you didn’t know went off into a closet for seven minutes, the rest of the group talking and laughing in their absence.
Next was Carl’s turn and his bottle pointed to the girl next you you and she squealed in excitement.
Slowly the bottle made its way to you and you took a deep breath as you leant forward and gave it a spin.
Oohs and Ahhs erupted as the bottle stopped spinning and pointed to no other than Billy fucking Hargrove.

When he first hears you say it, it’s faint and he’s not sure if you actually said it or if his mind is playing games. All he hears his your voice,a mere whisper even calling the name “Alex” in your sleep. He can also here you whimpering and a change in your breathing pattern which he recognises as how are when you’re about to cum and he knows he doesn’t like it when you’re having wet dreams about another man, he hates it really.

So when morning comes along with it comes having to face reality and for you to deal with a very distant and angry Harry. When you confront him to talk about it,he promises it’snot big deal and that he’s just having an off day but having been with him for so long, you know he’s lying. You’ve finally had enough after dinner and you corner him when he’s the most vulnerable and his guard was let down : the shower.

“Harry you have to tell me what is wrong or else there’s nothing I can do to help you.”

“Who is Alex, love?” The nickname which was once used as a way to express his love for you and how it was not measurable is not used in a spiteful tone filled with hatred.

At first you're shocked and then you stop for a second and think which brings back the faint memories of a dream that you had the previous night. A dream starring your boyfriend as his character in his film, an arrogant look on his face as he nailed you against a wall and kissed you with all his might. At this you start laughing finally realising why Harry has been so bitter all day, he gets angry when he hears laughter bubble from your lips. it pisses him off about how you find the thought of you cheating on him with a man named Alex funny.

“What’s so funny? Is this relationship funny to you?”

“Oh harry, my sweet innocent baby boy, do you remember what happened when I came to visit you on set during the film?”

“You had fun. You spoke to Fionn, Barry, Aneurin, Tom and Jack and you told me how proud you were. What does this have to do with an Alex?”

You laugh at your daft and apparently clueless boyfriend. “ All that aside, what happened in the bedroom? After you came back from set?”

“Well the condoms I bought for your week long visit got over in two days. You loved my uniform, didn’t you?”A smile slowly grew on his face as he understood where this was going. Well two could play this game, he concluded as a sly smirk formed on his berry pink lips.

“And why was that?” You gasped as you felt his hand slide against your core, already slick and wet at the thought of him fucking you.

His left hand begins to gather your hair against one shoulder, his mouth planting spongy kisses against your neck as his right hand just lingered over where you needed him the most. Two of his fingers slowly entered your hole while his thumb rubbed circles against your clit without any rhythm.

“So wet for me, aren’t you? Who did this to you baby?” his voice rough and husky as it was laced with desire, you failed to notice his accent was also a little thicker.

“You, Harry. You did this. Oh god, please don’t stop.” One of your hands went down to hold his that was still steadily pumping his fingers into you while his thumb continued it’s motion against your sensitive nub. He suddenly stopped, his fingers pulling out of you as his other hand released your hair from it’s gasp.

“What did you call me? That’s not my name, is it baby girl?”He bought him fingers up to his mouth, his tongue peaking out and licking all the wetness that was coated on them as his jade irises stared point blank into your eyes, a lustful look in them.

“Daddy please.”

“Well, I would. But that’s not my name either.” His arms were crossed in front of him as he looked at you, finally having you in the place where he wanted you, All pliant and willing to do anything for him.

“Well I’m running out of answers and I need you Harry please.” You stomped your foot frustrated, tears pooling in your eyes as you were desperate for him. Desperate for his cock to be in you, to reach that sweet spot that made you see stars and feel like your were in heaven.

He stepped forward, cornering you completely  into the wet shower wall. Your back hit the cold tiles as you looked at him all doe eyed and desperate, his favourite look on you if he’s being honest.

“Well darling, you can call me Alex.

-X-

So that’s little thought I had this morning. I hope you all liked it, I can do part two of her actually calling him “Alex” in bed if y’all are up for it. @trulymadlysydney @oh-styles , you can’t beat me at my own game. Payback is a bitch, isn’t it?

Love you all so much, xx.

Everyone is born with a soul mark somewhere on their body. Their soulmate has the same mark. New technology has been developed that can remove the mark, but at great cost.

The voices resonating within the small living room blurred together into white noise and faded into the aether, leaving the abrupt thud of your heart stopping as the only audible sound. The walls felt like they were crumbling around you, and the velvet couch you sat on seemed like it was swallowing you into its depths, encasing you in a suffocating darkness. The pain you had suppressed for so long came flooding back, spreading through your every nerve. You felt like your chest had imploded and your bones were caving in. Your entire body had shut down momentarily as Sehun’s last few words echoed through the husk of your skull.

“I’m going to get my soul mark removed.”

There were muffled voices, a few louder than the others, but you couldn’t decipher what was being said. Your brain - consumed by grief - didn’t allow for it. Someone had placed their hand on your arm to try and shake you out of your stupor, but you could barely feel the contact through your numb skin.

But then, his voice called your name, penetrating through the void. That one familiar voice that for so long had brought you happiness and sweet memories, but now, it tore your very being apart. The words that voice had spoken had severed the few ties to him you had left. But still, his voice had so much power and influence over you, and it finally brought you out of your trance. You blinked a few times, and suddenly, you were returned to reality.

This wasn’t a dream.

It seemed just your luck to have rented an apartment directly above a group of cultists.

You’ve lost count of hearing their inane, rhythmic chanting below your floorboards and the faint flicker of candles around an elaborate chalk circle. You’ve complained numerous times before, but every time they’ve greeted you at the doorway in their draping red hoods, solemn-faced and muttering about bringing the ‘Great Old Ones’ back.

For all the macabre airs that surrounded the place, the rent was cheap. Impossibly cheap. At first, you had been elated by such a turn of luck after you’d been so suddenly thrust into the adult world with both a job and school to juggle, but by now you knew why tenancy changed so quickly. But there was no way you’d be able to find another apartment this cheap. So you just tried to ignore the strangeness that lingered around you by immersing yourself in the real world outside your door, silently dreading the moments where you would have to return home.  Any other person would have turned heels long ago, but you’re just too stubborn to leave. It’s your home. You feel a sense of protective belonging over it, almost as if it’s your responsibility.

You’ve come to expect the unusual from your living circumstances.

However, what you would have never expected would be a loud, unearthly rumbling that would send you sprawling to the ground, where the muted screams of cultists to waver up through the cracks in the floorboards.

After the initial shock, apathy and exasperation set in.

Damn it. After so many failed rituals and chants, so many nights spent reading spells from mind-destroying ancient tomes, they’ve actually done it.

Well, at least you won’t have to deal with your downstairs neighbors anymore, you remind yourself hopefully.

The journey down the stairs is a dark, tepid one where you blindly grope the spiraling banister, feeling as if something is just going to jump out at you like a overused horror movie cliche. Even though you try and convince yourself otherwise- damn it, you’re an adult, you shouldn’t be afraid of these things- the fear till lingers.

The first thing you notice is the immense heat that blasts onto your face, sending trails of condensation down your already pale brow. It’ unusual because their heat is turned off all the time, even in the depths of winter. The only heat source down there is candlelight for when they carry out their unearthly rituals. But now it feels like you’re in the boiler room of the apartment block, walls almost scalding to touch.

A smeared chalk pentacle glimmers in the shivering light of a single candle in the center of the room, it’s siblings long since extinguished. Everything in the room is scattered and overturned, the wooden floorboards blackened, but curiously not burnt. It’s as if some massive, invisible explosion has take place. The musty air is already making you nervous- something lingers in it, something that you already have the sense to know is not of this earth, that every cell i your body screams to get out of. There’s no trace of your neighbors anywhere. But you can’t help but feel as if you’re not alone, as if something is watching you from the shadows.

Maturity tells you to call the police. But you’ve tried that in the past, and nothing has ever really come from it. And if you tried describing what was down here, you were sure that they would hang up on you as a prank call.

There’s a patter of movement from behind you. Noticing something sharp glinting from across the floor, you scrabble down to grab it, to try and protect yourself.

There’s a low clicking growl from the darkness. You feel ready to pass out from fear at any moment. You grip the knife shakily in your hand, but somehow feel even more helpless. Even when shrouded in darkness, you know that you’re powerless against whatever faces you.

With a shrieking cackle, something massive launches itself from the darkness with flashing white eyes and a fanged mouth trailing viscous saliva. You wait for death, but find it curiously absent. You look down to see the thing feeding on something else, and yourself completely unharmed.

It’s a massive mass of pulsating tentacles from the waist down, slithering across the floor on them like some giant demented octopus. Above, it’s a bony white mockery of the human form, scales trailing down it’s spiky spine. Seeing it’s arms flex as it tears into it’s meal, it’s a lot more muscular than you thought. Around it’s head, you see a familiar robed hand, half-clutching a hammer. A hand that belonged to someone, one of the cultists, who was going to bring it down on you and use you as a human sacrifice.

With a dawning shock, you realize that whatever this thing is, it just saved you.

You move hesitantly towards it and it’s head whips around, glowing eyes burning right into your rigid form. It looks at you in a way you’ve never seen anyone look at you before, so intently, so longingly. It softens you to sympathy towards it, instead of screaming at the sight of it.

“Thank you,” you breathe out.

You cringe at how ridiculous you must sound. You don’t even know if it can understand what you’re even saying, or if you’re really just the light snack for it after the heavy dinner of loyal cultists. Much to your surprise, it understands. A low longing growl coils out from it’s throat. It’s not even human, but you somehow feel closer to it than you’ve ever felt to any fellow member of your species. There’s more than that. You see it in it’s whole stance, aching familiar- it’s lonely.

Lonely- just like you.

Overwhelmed by the situation, you make a quick run for upstairs. But as you’re midway up the staircase, you hear a low squelching sound. Whatever it is, it’s not about to leave you.

That evening was how you found yourself saddled with an unusual new roommate. He didn’t have an exact name, well at least not in human language. The most you had gotten out of him was a high-pitched series of clicks and ear-splitting squeals.

Despite all odds, you two had somehow become amicable. True, he practically ate you out of house and home, but he was always there to listen to your day and silently comfort you from your stresses, wrapping his tentacles around you in a slimy hug.

There were the few annoyances- while most roommates had to deal with their stuff being borrowed without permission, or not doing chores, you had to stop yours from eating neighborhood cats.

It was nice having someone to come home to- even if that someone was actually something that was from another dimension all together. It was still nice.

Still, the memory of that night played on your mind- why had he saved you from becoming a sacrifice? Why hadn’t he just devoured you like he had with everyone else?

You sat half-curled up on the couch, a stack of junk food seated in your lap, more for him than it is for you. Beside you was your laptop. If there was anything that you loved about the new routine, it was movie night. It was a night where you could just lose yourself and forget the stresses of the world. You were so used to watching movies alone, but now you had someone else to enjoy them with.

And you had to admit,  it was oddly endearing to see a tentacled, eldritch beast enjoy watching animated children’s movies. He shifted beside you, clawed hands shifting against the fabric of the duvet you’d put over to protect the couch from further damage. He was enraptured by the screen, toothy mouthed stretched into a wide grin. He loved movie night just as much as you did, already devouring half the stack of snacks. But you don’t mind.

Somehow you didn’t focus on the movie like you thought you would. Your mind slipped away from the action onscreen, becoming more wistful. You kept thinking about that night, about the ritual gone wrong.

“Hey,” you suddenly remarked, “I just realized something.”

His head instantly whipped around from the bright illumination of the screen within the dimmed room.

“Mrnnnh?” came his curious growl.

You suppressed a laugh at how truly catlike this hideous, tentacled monstrosity could be.

“Two months since we met, and we moved in. I think it calls for some kind of celebration.”

You paused.

“I’ve…I’ve just been thinking…”

He leaned in, both curious and concerned, sensing your obvious hesitancy. You force yourself to exhale.

“That night…what was it about me? Everyone else…you devoured. But you left me alive. You saved me. Why? Why me?”

The creature goes quiet. You already feel as if you’ve made a terrible mistake and feel like gingerly trying to switch the topic of conversation. But he shifts over the couch, slightly creaking it with his own immense stature.

“I…wanted to devour…wanted to devour everyone…but…” he growls in a deep, grating tone.

His head tilts downwards towards you, making you feel absolutely tiny in the shadow of his presence.

“…I… don’t want to eat…you. You…not meat to me.”

He pauses for a minute, as if struggling what to say.

”You…mean..more…to me…than…just meat.”

You’re so shocked by the brevity of his words that it only dawns on you a few minutes later that it’s the first time you’ve ever heard him speak human words.

Squeezing back the few tears that brim within the glassy corners of your eyes, you draw close to him, allowing yourself to be embraced by his long arms. His touch is almost crushing, you know if he really tried, he could rip you apart, but you feel nothing but comfort.

“Thank you.” you murmured softly.

Your monster smiles down at you, revealing an array of sharp teeth, arranged in a welcoming, loving smile.
