Hogwarts Headcannons
  • Give me Dean, muggleborn that he is, imitating Steve Irwin in Care of Magical Creatures class, much to everyone's confusion except for Harry and Hermione who are. On the ground. Unable to breathe. And refusing to explain why.
  • Give me Harry, demisexual that he is, realizing that the reason he can't stop obsessing over Draco is because Draco is the one who saw - and subsequently disliked - 'Harry', and not The Boy Who Lived. Realizing that Draco was the only one to first talk to him for HIM, in that robe shop, and not his parents or fame (because even Ron and Hermione did that at first). And thus, leading to him randomly starting crying in the middle of lunch and claiming he's doomed, much to everyone's fear.
  • Give me Seamus, pyro that he is, super happy one Christmas when Hermione buys him a book on fire caution, flammable materials, and elements such as magnesium. Thus afterward, the mysterious fires that have always happened are far more safe and controlled.
  • Give me Luna, wonderful airhead that she is, being stared at as, calm as anything, she waltzes right into the Slytherin common room and starts talking to the mermaids like its absolutely normal. A first year drops a book he's staring so hard, because HOW DID SHE KNOW THE PASSWORD. Draco just sighs, gets up, goes over to her, and offers her tea.
  • Give me Draco. Who looks on as Neville offers Harry rhubarb pie that he made himself, as Harry stares forlornly at his Treacle Tart, and makes and annoyed sound. "Dammit Longbottom he hates bittersweets." The Slytherins stare and Pansy just mutters "How do you even know these things. Merlin, help him realize."
  • Give me Parvati, who is being constantly mistaken for her sister by Ron, who panics and screams "IM A LESBIAN" when it gets to be too much.
  • Give me Ron, who stares wide-eyes from a distance whenever he sees Padma from that moment on for a full week, until Padma flips out too and hexes him. Parvati awkwardly wonders why Ron starts getting scared whenever she tries to approach from then on, since she knows Ron doesn't have problems due to that sort of thing from how he handles Harry.
  • Give me the thirty or so of the school's Muggle-raised, who made the mistake of showing their folks howlers, and react accordingly whenever one of the families sends one that is just a recording of Rick Astley, or High School Musical, or spoilers for Doctor Who. And the Wizard-raised just... staring... in fear... watching their savior and multiple other students as they run around screaming and crying in an absolute panic for some reason even though it was a different student that got the weird howler.
  • Give me Harry, whose hair surprises people by being dark red like his mother's when in direct sunlight. And usually at the Weasley den they're inside, but one day Harry joins them outside for a picnic, and Molly is so confused about where Harry went to then has do do a mental tally of her children.
  • Give me George, who in the midst of the final battle, hit Lucius with an Anaticula curse, so that every spell he tries makes a duck instead. And the Death Eaters are just so confused. "Lucius... is that a duck?"
  • Give me the Gryffindor common room. The new first years suggest Monopoly for game night. The entire room goes dead silent. One first year tries to ask what they did wrong. "Never mention that game again," is the only response they get. "But why-" "NEVER TALK ABOUT SIXTH YEAR. WE NEVER TALK ABOUT SIXTH YEAR." Their brave upperclassman Neville yells, trembling. Hermione starts crying. Harry goes into a panic attack. Ron whispers, "There are many reasons we don't talk about sixth year. If The Incident had been the only thing that happened, we would only not talk about The Incident. Many things happened that year. Thus, we do not speak of that year, or of that game."
  • Give me McGonagall, who struggles to control the cat population, because while students are told to have their cats fixed you know not all 100 students that brought cats did so. Her curling up around a litter that lost their mother to illness. Training them to stalk the corridors. Albus had his ways of getting information, and hers is the spy network of cats.
  • Give me muggleborns singing everything from Phantom of the Opera to Katy Perry in the corridors. Singing We Will Rock You to a pureblood who disses them for it. The purebloods thinking the weird songs and their tunes are some kind of Rite of Passage and fleeing whenever a muggleborn student starts singing. Altering song lyrics. "I throw my ferret in the air some-times, singin EEEEEEEYO, this is DRAAAAAACO!"
  • Give me muggleborns that are really confused about the whole quill instead of pens things, throwing transfigured pokeballs in Care of Magical Creatures, the band students bringing kazoos and harmonicas and the wizrd-raised students that are just so confused as to how those things even work, because it must be some sort of air magic, right??
  • Give me muggleborns making entire conversations out of pop culture references specifically to confuse some Slytherin who just called one girl a Mudblood. "These are not the droids you were looking for." "I'm right on top of that now Rose, I promise." -jazz hands-
  • Give me muggleborns with Patronus that are things like Pikachu, velociraptors, the quiet Canadian transfer student with a moose patronus the size of a SMALL HOUSE, the one whose is a angeled-out Castiel, the one whose patronus is the democrat donkey and another the republican elephant and the two, previously best friends, become mortal enemies rivaling the fame of Harry and Draco.
  • Give me muggleborns hugging each other before break, promising to 'call' each other, trading weird codes, how they can't wait to go for 'sushi' or planning that trip together to 'disneyland' where they can go flying?? But no one's allowed magic?? Or flying?? And the wizard-raised think that somehow, shockingly,<i> these children totally new to our world have developed a way to cheat the system?? Muggleborns are badasses!!</i>
  • Give me muggleborns who are fully aware that the anti-tech wards were made when, like, radios barely even existed, much less cellphone towers and microprocessors, so while they can't turn them on inside the stone school walls there's this group that Harry joins constantly that just sit there in silence staring at these tiny things and sometimes randomly laughing hysterically, and every now and then standing and just running all the way across to the other side of the lake all at the same time with no signal whatsoever. The purebloods are <i>terrified</i> of this frequent happening.
  • Give me Harry, Hermione, Dean, and Justin from the D.A, muggleborns they are, doing a movie night every week to help the D.A. relax and bond. They re-start this after the battles, during eighth year, with several other people such as the returned Slytherins joining in. The entire year they play things like Tangled, The Breakfast Club, Brave, Lion King. But then the last four weeks, they announce they don't want to mislead everyone that everything is all fun and rainbows. The last four movies are My Sister's Keeper, The Shining, Marley and Me, and for the last week, a marathon of the entire Jurassic Park series.
  • Give me Hufflepuffs, who secretly are very relieved to be the 'normal' House. Jocks over there, know-it-alls over there, goth wannabees over there, now lets go camp out by the kitchens we're gonna need it to survive the next seven years like this.
  • Give me Ravenclaws who are so done with the riddles when they stumble back at midnight after having fallen asleep in the Library. "What's the truth?" "THE TRUTH IS THAT I WILL SET YOU ON FIRE IF YOU DON'T LET ME IN."
  • Give me the Trio, who use the Marauder's Map to find the most absolutely ridiculous routes to class, knowing every single one of the shortcuts. It's not odd for them to simply appear out of the ceiling. One day the new first years try to follow them, to learn the school better, but it doesn't go so well because then they try to go through a disappearing wall the Trio just did they instead run headfirst into it, and the next time they do behind a tapestry, down a waterside, around some sort of tower, causally past an entire doorless room full of bats, and somehow come out on the complete other side of the castle.
  • Give me Draco whose just completely had it with Harry's staring and confronts him, like they always do, and Harry just blurts out that he likes Draco's new haircut and can he touch his hair, and Draco so shocked he lets him. "Potter stop treating me like a cat I'm evil remember? Bloody hell have you gone daft?!" "But... it's soft..." "I hate you." But he just can't find any anger over this, so there's like no venom whatsoever in it and Harry can't stop giggling.
  • Give me Ginny, who can't stop giggling as Luna confuses the fuck out of an entire crowd with her way of speaking, and who during seventh year could 100% get away with insulting the Death Eaters because of the way she said things. Who after Luna used said tactic to get her out of a Crucio punishment just clung to Luna, shaking, and realizing that she loves Luna so much for this very reason. That there will never be another person like Luna in her life, ever.
  • Give me Harry, who was not really well educated while living at the Dursleys, who couldn't read very well but was wonderful at sneaking around, little tricks like hiding things, and loved music. He taught himself magic tricks, and MERLIN ALMIGHTY THIS 11 YEAR OLD KID HAS MASTERED VANISHING SPELLS, WHAT, HOW, and Percy, uptight prefect he is, just looses it.
  • Give me Ron walking in on Harry talking to some random snake in their dorm room, laughing like the snake said a particularly good joke, tipping his head and smiling as he responds, the python slowly curling up his arm to rest over his shoulder. Ron freezes, stares, and then slowly backs away, closes the door and stands there staring at it for a full half hour in absolute horror.
  • Give me the rest of the D.A. walking into the Room of Requirement and hearing screaming, Dean shrieking that he's going to murder someone, Hermione crying, Justin cursing like a sailor yelling for everyone to stop, and the rest panic and run around the corner and there the four Muggle-raised students are. With some sort of odd device in their hands. Playing Mario Kart.
Assassin’s Creed Gothic
  • A friend suggests the Assassin’s Creed series to you. You decide to try it. You like the first game a lot, but wish it got remastered. It never does. Altair’s American accent rings in your head for the rest of the year.
  • You think that Ezio Auditore is alright, but you’re confused at the sheer amount of merchandise he has. There are Ezio figures, Ezio posters, Ezio clothing, Ezio dinnerware, Ezio blankets, and Ezio pillow pets. You’re disgusted at how much merch Ezio gets. When you go home, you slip into your Ezio pajamas and slide under your Ezio sheets. You have no idea when you got them, or who gave them to you.
  • After playing Assassin’s Creed 3, you decided you liked Connor Kenway. When you researched the series, you found out that they decided not to make a sequel around his life. At first, you’re confused. The more confused you become, the angrier you get. The Connor Kenway fans come for you then. The next time you check your Facebook, you’ve made over a hundred posts about Connor Kenway. You own a replica tomahawk. The Hamilton soundtrack is blasting at full volume. You have tears running down your cheeks.
  • Aveline de Grandpre and Shao Jun have their own games, you insist. You friends just shake their heads. When you search for pictures online, your only results are more pictures of the male protagonists. However, the first picture is always the Ubisoft logo. It stares, watches, judges.
  • Black Flag is the best game, they say. You play it. You wake up in a bar three weeks after finishing it. Every single image of palm trees transports you to the Caribbean. At work, you hum sea shanties to yourself, never answering your co-workers when they ask the names of your tunes.
  • While playing Unity, you bring a red rose to a random gravestone every single day. It’s never the same one. Should you pass a site you visited, the rose is never there. Your watch has stopped. Still, you bring the roses. There are more graves. There are always more graves.
  • It takes a bit, but you notice that birds seem to flock to you after you finish Syndicate. They’re usually crows. They hunt you down during lunch, during your car rides, during your dates. You’ve named them Jacob, Evie, and Greenie. When they crow at you, you nod knowingly. You always have such interesting conversations.
  • You swear that you’ve seen Desmond Miles walking down the streets of your city. You call out to him. He turns, but doesn’t respond. A week later, a man in a white hoodie goes missing. You don’t know him. You miss him.
  • You pop the newest version of Assassin’s Creed into your system. The graphics are 144 pixels, just squares of color moving across the screen. You beat the game in 14 hours. A week later, you discover that the game has becoming the 8th best selling game in history. You aren’t even surprised.

Send me dumb maid dragon headcanons and I might draw em

@djunk411 Did this turn into a kindergarten AU? It sure did, but boy did I have fun thinking of these! We’ll call it Dragonling!AU. I have a lot more comics planned for this, but let me first give you a little rundown of the kids.

Tohru: She’s the rambunctious kid that can use her cuteness to get almost everything. And whenever that doesn’t work, she turns full-on dragon child and will force it out of them. She’s super proud that her second pair of horns are growing. Doesn’t like Elma at all for some reason. She might or might not have a small crush on caretaker Kobayashi.

Fafnir: The shady weird kid who wants nothing to do with anyone else. He likes to play on his old-school gameboy color and has almost every game for it. Don’t take it away or he will hurt you. Even the caretakers are afraid of him, except for caretaker Takiya. Maybe because they found common ground?

Lucoa: You know that kid that always loses everything? Their toys, their food… their clothes? You guessed it, Lucoa is that kid. Does she do it on purpose? We will never know. She’s the only one, together with Kobayashi, who can rein in Tohru… but only if she feels like it. Was transferred from another group to Kobayashi and Takiya’s because of an incident with her sister.

Elma: Literally the only one with common sense! She just wants to play, make friends, be happy and stuff her face with food. She always accidentally gets into some kind of trouble, which is mostly Tohru’s fault. She just has a lot of bad luck and it doesn’t help that the biggest troublemaker of the group hates her guts for no apparent reason. Has food crumbs stuck to her face 24/7.

Feedback is very appreciated, especially for Lucoa. I want her clothing antics to be silly and innocent, but I’m worried that people might take it the wrong way.

An Adventure Through Atem's Yuugi feels
  • First Arc/Season Zero: "Look at my tiny, precious other self. He is too good for this world, and anyone who looks at him OR our friends funny is getting the business end of a penalty game."
  • Duelist Island: "-how are you so wonderful? I can't even process this, like what? You still trust me? You want to help me? Work with me? I'm your friend? I just- I-" *Beams into oblivion.*
  • Otogi Arc: "You are perfect. I want you to be happy and get everything good in life and I'd rather be here to witness every second of it, if that's cool with you."
  • Battle City: *Just Plumb's "Don't Deserve You" playing quietly in the background.*
  • Yu-Gi-Oh! R: "H-he might, resent me? Might HATE me???" *Instantly hyperventilating, full blown panic attack, cannot handle this!* "...W-what? Oh, you DON'T hate me? ...Okay then, I'm cool." *Instant recovery, you saw nothing.*
  • Millennium World: "Boy, I sure hope my partner AND friends are okay." "Partner... friends... where are you?" "Partner!!! Friends!! You came!!" "...What do you mean I keep referring to Yuugi like he's somehow unique and it wouldn't fit to just lump him in with my other friends?? That's crazy. You're crazy. You need to watch that."
  • Ceremonial Duel: "Okay, let's all ignore how blatantly I was trying my damnedest to win that duel so I could stay with my partner, and focus on how I couldn't be prouder of him. Cool? Cool."
  • DSoD: "So, I just thought I'd show up at the last second. You know, break all of the laws of life and death to help you and share a totally platonic, lingering, goes-on-forever smile. ...........Okay, I'm good. See you the next time Zorc refuses to stay dead~" 💕

The relationship between misogyny and romance: a SJM study

Why female desire* isn’t problematic, but A Court of Thorns and Roses is.

In which I wade into an issue in depth, praying that the flame war gods do not strike me down.

**Please note that this essay discusses only the misogynist elements of SJM’s writing in the ACOTAR series. There are obviously other problematic elements that require acknowledgement, but this is the one I feel confident in addressing. I haven’t read any of ACOWAR yet.**

*also, female desire in this instance refers to the desire of the presumed female reader of romance. The reading of romance and YA is obviously not exclusive to women, although a lot of the assumptions of SJM’s work ascribe to the concept of a binary gender.

sheloveskook  asked:

i don't know if you're already writing this out but the one universe where human was born as colorblind unless they met their soulmate and the colors will starting to bleed into their life // jikook is soulmate // thank you ^-^

Hey lovely! This took me actually forever to finally do so I apologize 😖. This soulmate au was really interesting to write since I haven’t something like this before, I hope you enjoy~

+ Jimin is a waiter at a restaurant and that night at work, he ended up waiting on Seokjin, an old friend, and a couple other people with him

+ “My God, Park Jimin! I haven’t seen you since high school!” Seokjin had beamed. Seokjin introduces Jimin to his friends, catching up on the years they haven’t seen each other

+ In the end, Seokjin invites Jimin to hang out with all of them sometimes and Jimin accepts. He’s easily integrated in their friend group

+ Jimin enjoys all of Seokjin’s friends, especially one named Jungkook. He finds out Namjoon is Seokjin’s soulmate and he can see in full color. Meanwhile, Jimin’s world is still black and white.

+ Jimin often comes over to one of their houses to play video games with them.

+ One day while he was there, during a break, Jimin asks Jin about what colors look like. “I don’t think I can explain it to you, but I can tell you what color objects are?” And so he begins to point out objects in the room and trying to explain what color they are.

+ “And that—that is blue,” Jin points to the controller in Jimin’s hand. “Blue huh..”

+ Jimin finds himself getting especially close to Jungkook. Despite the fact that he is younger, Jungkook enjoys messing around with Jimin. Jimin is too endeared to tell him to stop.

+ Jungkook and Jimin hang out together often, even without the group. Jungkook likes to tag along with Jimin when he goes places. “Hyung, can I come grocery shopping with you?” “Why do you want to come grocery shopping…?” Jungkook always shrugs with a smile.

+ It happened a couple days later. Jimin was back at Jin’s house playing games with all of them when he noticed something peculiar. His controller—it wasn’t black nor white. It was this blue that Jin had described. A speck of blue in his sea of black and white.

+ “So this is what blue looks like…” Jimin had said quietly. Jin immediately paused the game. “Holy shit, you’ve met your soulmate?” Everyone in the room is shocked.

+ Hoseok begins to question him instantly, asking him all of the people he met recently. “Hyung, I’m a waiter, I meet new people every single day—it could be anyone!” But at the same time, Jimin was excited he finally had come across his soulmate.

+ But he couldn’t help but notice how defeated Jungkook looked in the corner.

+ From that day on, colors began to bleed more and more into his life. The sky was colored, the trees had pigment—it was more beautiful than ever. But he still had no idea who his soulmate was.

+ It’s weeks later and Jimin’s color vision is still spotty. He also noticed Jungkook had been distancing himself, so he corners him one day and takes him out to the park.

+ “Hyung…I think I see color too.” Jimin froze on the bench seat they were sharing. A deep realization erupts in him. The more he hung out with Jungkook, the more he saw color.

+ “Jungkook…I’m going to try something so please just—stay still okay?” Jungkook nods with wide eyes as Jimin cups his face and leans in close.

+ Before Jungkook knew it, Jimin’s lips were on his. And when they opened their eyes, color bloomed in every black and white crevice that remained in their vision.

+ Jimin laughs in astonishment. “Jungkookie, I think you may be my soulmate.”

+ Jungkook smiles. “Yeah, maybe.”

kuroken; don’t call kenma lazy in front of kuroo. just—don’t.

for @dgalerab - idk if someone beat me to it but i too, like kuroo, would defend kenma to the depths of hell and beyond,,

They’re eating lunch when it happens. It’s just the two of them today, Kuroo nabbing a random vacant chair to join Kenma at his desk because the second year doesn’t feel like moving. Or talking. Or really anything, but that’s a whole other can of worms.

Kuroo talks for the both of them, one of his notebooks open next to his bento as he drops broccoli into Kenma’s box when he thinks the other boy isn’t looking. Kenma has his phone out, but he’s barely scrolling through it. Instead, he’s steadily picking through his lunch, silently taking in Kuroo’s babbling about some sort of revelation in the chemistry world. He hums every now and then to let Kuroo know he’s listening. It’s almost peaceful, as familiar this scene was.

Then, of course, one of Kenma’s classmates, a tall kid with glasses whose name Kenma can never bother to remember, has to go and make a snide remark about him, just loud enough for most everyone in the classroom can hear.

“There’s no way he made the starting line up without kissing ass. I mean, if Kozume’s lazy ass can be a starter, then what does that say about our volleyball team, right?”

Kuroo falls silent immediately, fingers clenching his chopsticks so hard Kenma’s afraid they’ll break. He wants to say something, or run away, or tell Kuroo to ignore them, but he can’t. He just hunches further into his sweater.

“Excuse me,” Kuroo says, turning in his chair. His tone is light, almost conversational, but his eyes are the sharp kind of dangerous when he plays against opponents that don’t play nice. “What the fuck did you just say?”

The kid sniffs, and Kenma isn’t sure if he should be in awe of his classmate for being so undaunted when there’s a large scary third year glaring him down. “I said, i don’t understand how Kozume is on the team. He doesn’t talk, he’s creepy, and he’s lazy—”

“Kuro,” Kenma says quietly, but his friend doesn’t hear him. Kenma can only watch on nervously, fingers twitching around his phone. The whole classroom is watching the exchange with varying degrees of alarm.

Kuroo finally stands, stretching to his full height. He easily looms over the other kid. “Have you ever gone to a game of ours?” he says, staring the kid down. “Do you even know what volleyball is? How it’s a team sport? How each member carries their own weight, how each team relies on its setter? Have you ever seen Kenma play? Do you know that he’s our setter, the setter who is currently carrying us to nationals? Do you know how much time he puts into studying other teams’ plays, how long he stays for extra practice with all of us, individually? Do you?”

The other kid has the sense of gulp. He pushes on his glasses, glancing away from Kuroo, but not even his friends are willing to help him out of that. Kenma understands. Kuroo is real scary when he needs to be.

“If you want to talk shit about Nekoma Volleyball Club, fine,” Kuroo says, tilting his head so his too-long bangs throw shadows over his narrow eyes. “But let’s see you come to an actual game first, huh? There’s a practice match this Saturday. I invite you.”

Kenma watches sweat gather on the poor kid’s forehead. But Kuroo isn’t done.

“And if you ever dare call Kenma lazy again,” says Kuroo, leaning forwards until the kid has to tilt his head back to maintain eye contact. “We’ll be having another nice chat. Understood?”

The kid swallows audibly. He manages a strangled Y-yes, and then Kuroo is settling back next to Kenma, picking up his chopsticks and continuing his spiel about some unique chemical bond only found in space as if nothing happened. The noise level in the classroom picks up again, and Kenma puts down his phone.

He doesn’t say anything, but when he knocks his knee against Kuroo’s and feels the other boy press back gently, he knows he doesn’t need to.

How will you discover that your life is about to change? For then-20-year-old English actor Tom Holland, he first learned that he’d been cast in the coveted title role in Marvel Studios’ newest Spider-Man film Spider-Man: Homecoming—after a grueling audition process—from an Instagram post.

No matter how that news arrives, being hired to play an iconic superhero is a game-changer for any young actor, and Holland has certainly earned his spot, amassing an impressive body of work since being scouted at dance school in his hometown of London. In 2008, he made his theater debut in the West End production of Billy Elliot the Musical, and has gone on to appear opposite Naomi Watts in the tsunami-soaked drama The Impossible (2012); in the miniseries Wolf Hall (2015), adapted from two historical novels by Hilary Mantel; and in Ron Howard’s Moby-Dick origin story, In the Heart of the Sea (2015). Earlier this year, Holland appeared in James Gray’s The Lost City of Z, for which he decamped to South America alongside Charlie Hunnam and Robert Pattinson. He also has a plum role as Samuel Insull, the General Electric pioneer and onetime secretary to Thomas Edison, in The Current War, out later this year, which chronicles the rivalry between Edison (Benedict Cumberbatch) and his fellow inventor, George Westinghouse (Michael Shannon).

In the lead up to the expectedly seismic release of Spider-Man: Homecoming in July, and with it the sky-rocketing of his star power, Holland and his friend and Spider-Man co-star, the actress and singer Zendaya, went head-to-head on an episode of the curious celebrity game show Lip Sync Battle that aired on MTV ahead of this year’s Movie & TV Awards. Holland, with a full drag-and-dance routine rendition of Rihanna’s “Umbrella,” won the day, and became a viral sensation for his efforts. In May, they hopped on the phone for a lower-stakes sort of back and forth.

TOM HOLLAND: Zendaya, how are you doing?

ZENDAYA: I’m good, man. This is my first time interviewing you. It’s kind of weird. I’m going to keep it real simple. [both laugh] What did you want to be when you were a kid?

HOLLAND: I didn’t really know what I wanted to be. My mom thought I could dance because I used to dance to this Janet Jackson song she’d play when I was a baby. Then she would take me to a Saturday dance school. I used to go every week and got spotted by a scout, who suggested I audition for the role of Billy in Billy Elliot the Musical. When I first started auditioning, I was too small and I couldn’t dance. [Zendaya laughs] I went to an all-boys school, where I played rugby, so ballet wasn’t the coolest thing to do.

ZENDAYA: Kids are kind of mean. Was that ever a thing?

HOLLAND: I think it toughened me up. I loved doing ballet. I trained for two years. I auditioned every six months for Billy Elliot and got slightly bigger every time I went, and eventually I got the job. I’m very happy I had that training. It’s been so valuable to my career, and I’ve used it on almost everything I’ve done since.

ZENDAYA: It’s probably the reason you beat me on Lip Sync Battle. I’m just throwing that out there.

HOLLAND: That was raw talent.

ZENDAYA: What came after Billy Elliot?

HOLLAND: My parents decided that it was time for me to go back to school. And after being at school for only six weeks, I was whisked off to Spain to shoot in a water tank with Naomi Watts for a film called The Impossible.

ZENDAYA: Your mom is a photographer, right?

HOLLAND: Yes.

ZENDAYA: And your dad?

HOLLAND: He is a stand-up comedian and an author.

ZENDAYA: Do you think that has had anything to do with your creativity?

HOLLAND: Definitely. I come from very creative parents. It’s nice to have a dad who’s been in the industry for probably over 30 years because he knows all the dos and don'ts and the ins and outs and stuff.

ZENDAYA: So now we move from Billy Elliot to a big movie. Did you want to be in the industry more and more? Because when I got my first job, I just wanted it even more.

HOLLAND: That happened for me the more I auditioned for Spider-Man. The closer and closer I got, the more I wanted it. I must have been about 18 when I started auditioning.

ZENDAYA: How long was that process?

HOLLAND: That process was five months. I did eight auditions. I did five self-tapes, and then a screen test with Robert Downey Jr. and a screen test with Chris Evans. In the screen test with Robert Downey Jr., they brought me into the room and I met him. I was so nervous. In my head, I thought, “Wow, you look really weird in person. You don’t look like you do onscreen.” I found out later that I met his stand-in. I basically got my nerves out on his stand-in and then met him. Then my screen test with Chris Evans was a movement test. I was like, “Shall I do a backflip?” And all the Sony guys were like, “Can you do a backflip?” “Fuck, yeah. I’ve been sending you videos for the last five months of me doing a backflip. How do you not know this?”

ZENDAYA: Was that the most stressful period of your life?

HOLLAND: It was stressful because the closer and closer I got, the more I could see my future changing.

ZENDAYA: And you wanted it.

HOLLAND: The thing that killed me was the waiting. Even after my self-tapes, they would call me up and be like, “We’re going to let you know tomorrow.” Six auditions later, still nothing. On my last audition, they said, “You need to stay in Atlanta because we’ll tell you tomorrow.” So I stayed in Atlanta for about a week because my cousin lives there. With each passing day, there was no phone call. I flew back to London. Five weeks passed. I kept checking my phone every 20 minutes, trying to find something. Eventually, one day I was sitting on my bed with my dog just scrolling through Instagram, and there it was. It said, “Go to our website and check out who the new Spider-Man is.” And I did. It said my name. I went crazy. My poor dog had a fit. I ran downstairs, told my family. My brother, Harry, was like, “No, dude. Sony’s account has been hacked. They’d let you know. They’d call you.” Which is so Harry, by the way. He’s so pessimistic about everything. But Sony had gotten hacked not long before. Then [president of Marvel Studios, and producer on the film] Kevin Feige rang me up, telling me, “I’ve got great news. You’re going to be Spider-Man.” I’m like, “I know, Kevin. It’s on Instagram. I’m 19. Did you really think I wasn’t going to find it?”

ZENDAYA: Everybody asks me this question: What do you see for yourself? What do you want? Obviously, you’ve done other types of roles that are very different from Peter Parker. Do you want to act forever?

HOLLAND: The 20-year goal is to be a film director. The 15-year goal is to win an Oscar. The five-year goal is to just keep enjoying myself. I really am having the time of my life. But as far as my future goes, I want to stretch myself as an actor in a way that Jake Gyllenhaal, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Meryl Streep do. I don’t want to be stuck to one character. I think that’s what can happen when you take on a superhero movie. So every conversation I have with my agent is, “What have you got for me? What’s next? Who can I play?”

ZENDAYA: It’s cool you want to be a director. When I’m on set with you, you have a very director-like mind. You’re always coming up with ideas and being as involved as possible.

HOLLAND: I like directing because I like working with actors so much. I’d like to be a director who gives my actors complete freedom while collaborating with them to find performances.

ZENDAYA: We never had this in-depth of a conversation when we were on set.

HOLLAND: Ever.

ZENDAYA: Our conversations are …

HOLLAND: Childish.

ZENDAYA: What do you consider your biggest flaw and your greatest strength? That’s a very mature thing to know.

HOLLAND: My biggest flaw is probably my attention span or lack thereof. And while it might seem contradictory, my biggest strength is my work ethic. Like, on Spider-Man, I would just try to outwork everyone. That said, if you ask me to read a book, I just can’t get my brain to focus on it.

ZENDAYA: I feel like I know the answer to this, but what role in an iconic movie do you wish that you could have played?

HOLLAND: James Bond. Or maybe I’ll do Batman.

ZENDAYA: It would be a little unfair if you got to play Spider-Man, James Bond, and Batman, Tom.

HOLLAND: It would be so unfair. But life isn’t fair, Zendaya.

dude i would love to read an essay about Bellamy being a hufflepuff. i feel like too many people only put characters in hufflepuff if they don't really fit anywhere else and also i LOVE Bellamy and reading about him... so if you've got any free time, i mean...

ALRIGHT LEMME BREAK THIS DOWN FOR Y’ALL PREPARE FOR A FULL ON ESSAY WITH SOURCES AND EVERYTHING YOUR LOCAL HP TRASHCAN IS HERE TO SPEAK

Discussion: Is Bellamy Blake Really a Hufflepuff?
(answer: yes he is)

To begin, one has to note that Gryffindor and Hufflepuff are both basically the two sides of the same coin. They’re both considered ‘heart’ houses as loyalty and friendship are things that these houses hold important. This is clearly seen in DH when during the final battle Hufflepuffs ‘virtually to a person stay, as do Gryffindors’ (JKR, Harry Potter: Beyond the Page). The difference she said is that for Gryffindors, bravery and showboating go hand in hand and Gryffs in general love to show off. They love attention. (Literally, a prime example of this is James and Sirius- the Marauders on the whole really) Us Gryffs are the ‘do it for the vine’ kind of people. As for the Hufflepuffs, they stayed because it was the right thing to do. Not because of bravery and showboating but because it was right and Puffs are true and just.

Also here’s the thing about Gryffindor: anyone can choose to be brave and that’s why every single Gryffindor could have ended up in another house. (this is a discussion for another day though)

Now let’s get on to Bellamy. I agree that at first glance he does seem to fit the mould of Gryffindor: he’s brave, daring, and reckless (quick check: HP Wikia) But at his core he’s loyal, he’s caring, hard working and dedicated… which are all Hufflepuff traits (quick check: HP Wikia). When Bellamy goes out there to risk his life for someone, he’s not doing it to showoff, he’s not being deliberately reckless (he is being reckless but that wasn’t his intent); he’s doing it because it’s the right thing to do. He’s doing it because he has such a big heart and cares.

(Also, just for funsies, another Hufflepuff trait is fair play and remind who was scandalised at the mere thought of cheating during the blood sport games? That’s right, Bellamy. Another just for funsies trait: modesty. If you search up modesty in the dictionary then you’re bound to find his picture next to it. The boy hates getting praise for anything.)

Argument: Gryffindors also care just look at Harry James Potter.

My counter argument: Let me introduce you to Nymphadora Tonks.

Tonks was a Hufflepuff. She was also a skilled Auror and member of the OotP. She died after leaving her home- and her son who was maybe a month old at most- to go fight in the battle. She was brave and courageous and reckless and yet she was still a Hufflepuff. Reasoning: she doesn’t prioritise being brave. She chooses to be brave but it is not her priority. When she goes to her death- the battle of Hogwarts- she’s not going because she’s being brave. She’s going because not only is it the right thing to do but because her loved ones are there- her husband, her friends, her found family, people who she’s come to know and love, and that’s why she goes.

And that’s why I argue that Bellamy is a Hufflepuff. Sorting doesn’t depend on what quality is your biggest; it depends on which one you think is the most important to you. That’s why Hermione isn’t a Ravenclaw. She’s the brightest witch of her age but she asks to be placed in Gryffindor. She chooses bravery over intellect.

So for Bellamy that’s why I see him as a Hufflepuff. He will never come out and say that he was being brave. He’ll always say that it had to be done and refuse to be praised. He does however prioritise his found family because he’s loyal to them. He’ll go through hell and back not for the sake of being brave but because he’s loyal to them, because he loves them.

And if you want to go even further consider this: his bravery is circumstantial. All the characters are brave because that’s what they have to be on earth. They don’t exactly have much of a choice. And yet no one is arguing that Clarke’s not a Slytherin or Raven isn’t a Ravenclaw because it’s easy to see that the former is resourceful and cunning, while the latter cares about her intellect more than anything else. And it’s that way for Bellamy too, who’s loyalty is essentially his core trait, it’s at the root of his love for the people who he considers to be his.

He wasn’t going to do it again.  He wasn’t going to let another date look at him in horror.  Derek refused to be seen as a freak.  He was just going to find a new job, move out of his parent’s house, and die alone.

“Just one more date Derek, please!” Laura begged, following him down the stairs and waving her phone at his back.

“I said no!  You don’t know what it’s like,” Derek muttered, suddenly defeated.

“I know babe,” Laura told him, coming up to wrap an arm around her little brother, standing up on her tippy toes until she could lay her head on his shoulder.  “But look at this guy.  He’s gorgeous.”

Derek couldn’t resist a quick glance at the dating app.  Damnit.  Laura was right, as always.  The guy was gorgeous.  A mole dotted face with an adorably upturned nose smirked at him from behind a pair of square framed glasses, and he could feel his resolve crumbling.

The boy, Stiles Stilinski, had always been into MMORPGs. The other boy, Ithuriel, had always been into MMORPGs as well, albeit secretly. The Alpha, Derek Hale, was possibly the object of Stiles’s affections. One day, Stiles met Ithuriel.

But be warned, this is not a tragedy in which Derek Hale saves Stiles’s virtue from Ithuriel. That would be ridiculous.

This is a love story.

From his textbooks, Stiles had gotten the impression that vampires had a weird, stretched out look to them — slightly too-long limbs and pale skin. This guy, though, he looked human, broad-shouldered and clearly muscular even under a loose sweatshirt. He wasn’t pale at all, his skin lightly tanned, hair dark, eyes pale. They narrowed at Stiles and Stiles froze as the man looked him up and down, clearly judging him. He must have passed the test, though, because the man kind of shrugged and said, “Take off your clothes.”

If you're still taking prompts. What if Neil gets a concussion and starts mixing up his languages? I love your writing!

(thank you so much! I had so much fun writing this honestly also HEY apparently language based confusion post head trauma like.. doesn’t happen lmao but lets suspend our disbelief y'all)

It’s USC’s new “problem player” who does it.

There’s a scrimmage for the ball in the last quarter, and Neil ends up bodychecked into plexiglass head-first. His helmet goes loose and bounces away before he hits the floor.

Neil’s 5’3” against the backliner’s 6’5” is like pitting an axe against the base of a tree. Neil’s legs quiver like wind through leaves, and then he’s cut down.

Andrew watches the whole thing unravel, the wind-up and the swing and the bounce. Neil topples onto his back with the brutality of a drop from a moving car, and he doesn’t get back up. There’s an awkward minute of shouting and buzzers and repetitive shrugging from the backliner. Andrew leaves goal just as Jeremy crosses the court to jab a finger in his teammate’s chest.

“We do not fight dirty like that! Jesus Christ Trent, If we’d taken that point from them the win would mean what?”

“Nothing,” the backliner replies glumly, eyes down. Andrew takes it as a prime opportunity to punch him across the jaw with his whole weight behind it.

The guy goes reeling, holding his face and looking down at Andrew with slack jawed disbelief — doubtless surprised to find someone half his size had just loosened a few teeth.

Andrew feels Kevin at his back, and Jeremy steadies Trent by the shoulder as he levels eyes at him. “Can’t we be civil for one game?”

Kevin shrugs, sickeningly sheepish. “You’re in fox territory.”

“How could I forget,” Jeremy says, eyes rolling. He says something else but Andrew’s already turning to find Neil, his unchecked injury like an oven left on - the niggling, panicking doubt of it.

Jean’s crouched at Neil’s side, speaking quietly and firmly with his eyebrows yanked together like pursestrings.

“Get away from him,” Andrew says, dizzy with anger. All the times Neil has defended Jean and the things he’d let Riko do surface and clash in Andrew’s head.

Jean looks up, unconcerned with Andrew’s warning. “Something is wrong.”

Andrew puts himself between Jean and Neil, stepping right where Jean’s hands are splayed out on the floor so that he recoils. He leans over Neil and watches his open eyes, the frost of confusion on them.

“Get up.”

Neil finds him, like he’s squinting through smoke. “Je ne peux pas.”

Andrew grabs his shoulders, unamused. “Try again.”

“It was something else a minute ago. Something slavic?” Jean says. Andrew ignores him.

“Andrew,” Neil says urgently, eyes bloodshot and unfixed. “Je suis fatigué.”

“Don’t sleep,” Andrew warns. He pulls Neil to his chest and drags him upright by his armpits.

“Look, I’m sorry,” Trent calls from a few feet away, his team congregating behind him like disappointed parents.

“We’re benching him for the next couple of games,” Jeremy adds seriously. “You deserve better.”

“You touch what’s mine again and you lose a hand,” Andrew says airily.

Hyakuzawa Yuudai, Hinata Shouyou + Chapter 217

yo okay, i’m feeling pretty emotional about hyakuzawa (and his interactions with hinata) right now so i couldn’t not say anything.

okay, any character who feels so obviously insecure like that, to the point of sitting alone on the ground looking sad, is going to have a hold on my heart. hyakuzawa is the most inexperienced player at the camp, and i’d bet he’s aware that some of the other boys there don’t really want to play with him. on top of this, he must be painfully aware that there are a lot of players at this camp who not only attend powerhouse schools, but are regulars - in short, he knows that he is surrounded by extreme talent, and it serves to make his insecurities about his playing even stronger, as he has some of the best players in his year to compare them to. the 2-on-2 matches have become a source of misery for him, he dreads them and wants them to end as quickly as possible, because these in particular really drive home how far behind he is in comparison to the others.

now of course, this isn’t really his fault, he’s only just started playing and his teammates likely relied purely on his height, if their match with karasuno is anything to go by. it’s completely understandable that he isn’t on the same level as the others, but it’s also understandable (and heartbreaking) that he is so upset by this. no one wants to spend a week in intense training with people when you know your skills are far behind everyone else’s.

so then what happens?

well, in comes hinata.

holy shit, i love hinata shouyou.

not only does he immediately validate hyakuzawa by making it clear that he thinks hyakuzawa belongs at the camp, he then proceeds to be the most vocal and enthusiastic supporter anyone could ask for. of course, this is hinata’s nature! he’s a lovely ray of sunshine who lights up everyone’s lives, but it’s important to remember that hyakuzawa doesn’t know this, so it probably makes hinata’s words even more important and special to him. hinata’s vocabulary choices aside, it’s clear how surprised and relatively moved hyakuzawa is by hinata’s praises. they aren’t overly complicated, hinata tells it like it is, but these earnest compliments reach hyakuzawa. i’d put money on it being the first time anyone has ever complimented him like that, especially considering he’s still at a low skill level.

so, imagine being at a training camp full of elite first-years, feeling like you’re still in middle school in comparison, and then having a virtual stranger go wild praising your abilities and potential, completely validating your presence when you felt like you didn’t deserve to be there? hinata did something truly fantastic this chapter and i love him for it. because he’s right! it’s not hyakuzawa’s fault he started volleyball so late, and his potential is phenomenal! with his height, and the right training, hyakuzawa could be an utterly formidable opponent, and he deserved to know that he belonged just as much as everyone else did. major shoutout to hinata for being so utterly sweet and telling hyakuzawa, else he could easily have wallowed in his insecurities for the rest of the camp.

and on the topic of hinata: i am so insanely proud of him. he has grown so much at this camp, even without playing all that much! he’s learning so many things from looking at the games and training from off the court, and it’s blatantly obvious in this chapter that it’s paying off. he’s thinking of game strategies and watching the other players closer than ever - things he didn’t really do all that much before. when hyakuzawa rembered hinata’s in depth explanation about a possible play and how it could affect the rhythm of a game, i could have cried. hinata has come so far, you guys. he’s improving so much and i just know he’ll be fantastic at nationals, even better than he already was. he took a situation that wasn’t really in his favour and made it work out insanely well for him. hinata is an inspiration, honestly, he makes friends so easily and helps others (just to simply “beat them at their best”?? such a simple, endearing motive. also he’s way too attractive in that panel), and he’s never once been bitter even when he had every right to be. like hyakuzawa said, no one knows better than hinata that he deserved to be at that camp. but he’s never been cold towards any of the other boys there. hinata is just such a wonderful, warm person, and i’m so proud of how far he’s come.

SCENARIO- The joker finally has his daughter but for how long.

Warnings- talk of mental abuse, physical abuse, language (of course)

——————————————

You grunted as you held on to the wound that covered your left side. You were limping as you saw the exit coming closer and closer. Closer to freedom. You could hear the sound of boots behind you and dogs barking but you just ignored it and kept limping towards your only chance of seeing the outside world again. A world you haven’t seen for 6 months.

You don’t believe it’s been 6 months since you were on the ladder of that helicopter with your joke of a father.

You remembered the look on your families faces as they discovered your nature, who your real blood was. Thank god that Harley Quinn wasn’t your real mother, because that would make things so much better. (Who knew you could fit so much sarcasm in one sentence)

You only ever saw her once in a while and it never ended well for her. She was a good woman, crazy, but a good woman.
Harley never deserved to be played by the joker, he twisted her mind worse than even his was. He was crazy because he ignored everything, she was crazy because she ignored everything except love and love can make you insane, that one true, no escaping from your own mind, insane.

Your time with your father had not been much better. From the beginning all he did was try to tear you down, so you could be made to his picture.

Flashback.

You felt the cold water hit your face as you lied on the cold medal slab in the back of your cell in nothing but sweatpants and a dirty white tank top.

Your “room” only had the necessities. A small barred window, a calendar, a toilet, a slab of metal called a bed, and a sink. Also the floor was filled with 3 inches of water.

“Wakes wakey sugar, time for another one of daddy’s quizzes.” You heard the joker say from the other side of the bars where he stood holding a now empty bucket.

“No.” You said throwing your forearm over your eyes.

You had been locked up in this hell hole for 4 months now and you were done. The joker made sure you had a calender in your room so you knew every single day that passed by the sun that shined through the tiny barred window you had and you were sick and tired of his games. Not in the way of you wanted to die, just you were done with playing to his whims.

“See I don’t remember, ASKING YOU!” He yelled as he flipped the switch causing hundreds of volts of electricity to shoot through the water of your cell, up to you where it felt like a lightning rod was being sown through your skin.

You screamed bloody murder as you arched your back off the metal slab and could feel your head wanting to explode.
Your heard the switch click off and the joy of your fathers laughter from the other side of your cell as you curled into a ball and held your head.

You weren’t what you used to be. They didn’t feed you the right food to keep you strong and you couldn’t work out from being so weak all the time, so your muscles slowly started to deteriorate. Your strength was apart of your combat style and was starting to leave you defenseless.

“Now be a good girl and get up.” He said as he opened the door to your cell.

You rolled off the slab and landed on your knees, on the water covered floor. You struggled to pick yourself back up off the floor, which used to be a easy task, now, not so much. He rolled his eyes and snapped his fingers as two guards came in and picked you up by your arms and dragged you out of the room behind your other 23 chromosomes donor.

It was the same as everyday since you’ve been here. You were sat in a all dark room with a projector with hundreds of pictures of the batfam. Damian and you taking out the riddler, Dick hanging out with Tim in full consume on top of Wayne enterprises, Bruce with the justice league and finally Jason.

He was out with the rest of the outlaws taking out a threat you had no idea about. You felt your muscles tense as you looked at him, with his guns pulled out and his mask on, he looked amazing. You could tell exactly what face he was making under that mask, you knew what he was thinking and it hurt.

Everyday it would be new more recent pictures and you noticed that all of the batfam looked more weary than usual, especially Jason. He was more brutal than normal and sloppy.

At the end of each “session” you would be asked one question.

“Who are they to you?”

Every single time you replied with your held high and said the words that kept you going through all of the misery.

“They’re my family.”

You would then be dragged back to your cell and do the same thing the next day, but on the last day of the 6th month of you being tortured, things were different.

When you were dragged back and thrown into your cell, you instantly passed out from hitting your head on the metal bed. Thank god you landed face up or you would have drowned from the water, you desperately hated.

When you woke up hours later, you noticed someone standing at the front of your cell with the door open. It was Harley Quinn who had tears streaked down her face.

“Sugar you gotta go, I’ve got about 5 minutes before they come for both of us and this is the only way I’m helping.” She said in a worried voice that still managed to sound perky as she outstretched a hand to help you up.

You looked at her red nail polish with a eye brow raised. You didn’t understand, was it a test put together by your father or was the infamous Harley Quinn being genuinely kind.

“Why?” You croaked out as she started to shake her hand in a fast motion signaling for you to grab it.

“I’m stuck in this life, I chose it for myself, you didn’t and you don’t deserve it.” She said in a harsh whispered voice as she kept leaning back and peaking down the hall.

You looked at her once more, then grabbed her hand hoisting yourself up. As soon as you were standing next to her, a slight prick sensation was in your right arm. You looked down to see Harley pushing a clear liquid from a needle into your arm. You felt the room go brighter and your senses grow sharper.

“What the fuck did you just give me.” You said as you rise to your full height and heard your back pop from not being properly stretched out in the past few months.

“That darlin, is what we call pure adrenaline, I say you have about 15 minutes before you start to feel like death.” She said with a small giggle and looked at a nonexistent watch on her wrist.

“Well toodles” she said, then skipped down the hall, her pigtails bouncing with each step.

“Fucking crazy ass lady.” You said as you stepped out of your cell and turned down the familiar hall where you were then ambushed by a bunch of goons who managed to injure you with a dagger down the left side of your stomach, which led to where you are now.

Flashback over

You could feel the last bits of adrenaline wearing off, it burned through your system so fast it only lasted about ten minutes. You limped through the final door, managing to put all of your body weight on it and tune the handle and took in your surroundings.

You were on a cliff that over looked some unknown body of water, in the middle of the night, with the moon being the only source of major light. You looked behind you to see the bastard coming up the stairs wth his army behind him.

“Welp looks like I only have one option.” You muttered to yourself as you took a a running start and leaped off the cliff.

4 months later in midway city

You had absolutely no idea how you survived that jump. All you could remember was jumping off the cliff, then the next thing you know, you’re waking up on a beach in the middle of the day.

You sat there covered in sand for what felt like days but was only probably about 3 hours. You just needed a minute, as you tore off the ends of your sweatpants to make a makeshift bandage for your wound.

You couldn’t go back home, could you even call it that anymore, home? They would hate you, they would try to lock you away. You couldn’t be locked away again, you wouldn’t let them.

You got off that beach and walked for what felt like hours until you stopped in Midway city. You smelled like the ocean, not in a good way, you hadn’t taken a proper shower for months, you were starving and cold but that’s exactly where you made your final decision.

You would rebuild yourself here, start a new life, be a new person. Leave everyone and everything in your old life, sadly though it truly meant everyone. You’ve been here ever since.

Meanwhile in Gotham

“BATMAN, JOKER SPOTTING ON THE SOUTH STREET!” Tim shouted into the coms as he jumped from building to building.

“On it.” Almost every single person in the batfam said at once into the coms.

Jason and Dick were on their cycles at different points in the city on route to the site. Damian and Bruce drove in the batmobile while Barbara rode on top because she quote said “because I’m batgirl.”

They all arrived in a exact unison surrounding the Joker. After you were taken they all dedicated there time to keep there eyes on the look out for the joker and their spare time looking for you.

When you were first taken they searched everywhere, in uniform and out of uniform, night and day, but they couldn’t find you anywhere. There were no clues or leads so they were just running in blind. They had to slow down after 3 months when the villains of Gotham got worse, they thought the bat was done for.

Jason took your abduction the hardest, you were his rock, his anchor, his one true love and he felt like he didn’t even have the balls to tell you how he felt. He never would have cared you were that bastards daughter. You weren’t like him, you showed Jason that even people that came from demons, could turn into angels.

“Where is she, you freaking lunatic?” Jason growled through clenched teeth, as he pulled his guns on the joker who only stood in the middle of the circle of heroes, looking at the ground.

Jason fired a bullet that zipped by his ear as the rest of the family stood completely still letting Jason have his moment.

“I’m going to ask you one more time, where is she?” Jason questioned again with his modulated voice as he cocked the gun.

A low chuckle turned into a horrendous laugh as the joker raised his head and looked at Jason straight in the face.

“Oh that’s hilarious.” The joker said as he wiped tears out from under his eyes.

“What, what’s so funny?” Jason said as he lowered his guns and everyone could feel the glare he was giving the clown.

“Well here’s the situation little red riding hood, I don’t have her, she went bye bye.” He said as he did a wave and laughed some more.

“What did you do with her?” Bruce asked in his most menacing voice.

“Ohhhhh I didn’t do anything, last time I saw her she jumped off a cliff and you know the deal with those pesky heroes she probably lived but then again she could have died. I mean I would go for the latter, anyways in the end, who really cares?” He questioned in a fake voice with a large frown and a fake boohoo.

“JASON DON’T!” Dick yelled as he saw Jason put his finger on the trigger of his gun and aim at the jokers head.

“JASON IT’S NOT WHAT SHE WOULD HAVE WANTED, STOP IT!” Barbara yelled from where she and Damian both stood in rigid positions by the batmobile.

“Give me one good goddamn reason.” Jason said as he fixed a hard stare onto the clown prince of crime.

“Because she would have said no.” Bruce said as he put his famous glare on Jason.

Jason exhaled though his nose in frustration but reluctantly put his gun down and squeezed the handles of his bike instead.

After 30 minutes and the joker being placed back in Arkham all of the batfam returned to the manor to tell Alfred what happened and discuss what they have learned.

“If she’s alive, wouldn’t she have come home by now.” Alfred said looking around at the table, where they were all currently seated.

“No, not exactly.” Tim said as he took a sip of his coffee.

“Bullshit.” Jason said as he rested his jaw on his knuckles with his elbow on the table.

“Think about it, she kept this a secret from us for the entire time because she probably thought we would have hated her, especially you Jason. Now that her secret is out she is scared that if she comes home we’ll just reject her.” Bruce said standing up, avoiding Jason’s glance at him and walking around the table.

They were both thinking of the night when batman lost his Robin. How Jason prayed for Bruce to make it on time, how Bruce mourned after Jason died. Jason forgave him for that night, he would never admit to it, but he did. All because of a girl who opened his eyes.

“She thinks we hate her because her father is the joker, even though she has done so many good things to help us and make Gotham a better place.“ Dick said leaning back in his chair as a look of pure sadness and confusion crossed over his face.

“We don’t choose our family, we make them, assemble them piece by piece, we just need to make her understand that.” Jason said as he stood up and walked over to the bat computer.

“Well how do you want to do that?” Damian asked with a bored expression, even though they could all see the worry in his eyes.

He would never in a million years admit it but he had a soft spot for you and the way you always helped him when he was in distress. It didn’t matter if it was emotional or physical, you always managed to crack away his facade and see the true kid he was. He knew what it felt like to come from a evil family background and he wished he could have been there for you, the way you were there for him, in his moments of need.

“We have to draw her out someway, get her to come to us, she knows how we operate so she would know how to stay hidden, we can’t just try and find her.” Bruce said as he stood next to Jason at the computer and gripped his hand on the back of the chair.

They looked at the picture of you they had on the screen, to keep their spirits high as to not forget you, not like they would anyways.

“Guys what if she’s not hiding though, what if she didn’t make it?” Barbara questioned everyone as she played with her fingers and looked down at the table with bags under her eyes from countless night of looking for you.

“Well with what I’m planning to do we will get an answer either way.” Bruce said as he sat down at the computer and started typing away.

“What are you gonna do?” Jason questioned as he pinched the bridge of his nose, he looked absolutely exhausted and ready to punch someone, at the same exact time.

“I’m gonna make something happen so big she can’t resist but to come out of hiding and see us.” Bruce said in a dark tone with a frown as the rest of the kids just looked at each other and nodded with somber eyes.

@Elysianno part 4 COMING SOON
  • John: Is there something you want to know, Merle?
  • Merle: *pauses* Yeah! There is something I would like to know. Are you my friend?
  • Griffin narrating John: The smile drops from his face, and he stands up and I think he reaches out his hand---with the fire---but he pulls it back down, and-uh-he kinda shakes his head and he says
  • John: What am I doing?
  • Griff: And he looks out the window for, like, a minute without talking... and he turns back to you and says
  • John: To, have friendship, Merle, it requires you to... Love someone and be invested in your shared happiness and these things, Merle, friendship and love and happiness.... They're -they're all so... Small. In the grand scheme of things, Merle, they last a second. And I just don't, *sighs*. What bring you happiness, Merle? I know that the game is over but... Wha-what brings you joy, Merle, please I- give me this freebie- I'm-just tell me.
  • Merle: What brings me joy.... is... Life. I think you've can find joy---anywhere, in life. I think it's a conscience choice. I think you- you choose joy. In life, and no matter how bad things are-no matter how crummy-no matter how dark.... You find joy. I found joy, honest to god, gettin' to know ya! I found joy playing chess with ya! I find joy in whatever I do! I don't always do things right 'nd I don't always do things smart, but whatever I do... I find joy in it, because at the end of the day, thats all ya got! You can always come back to the joy ya had, to the joy ya found, to the joy you gave other people!
  • Griff: Uhm, I think his back is turned to you for most of this as he just kinda looks out the window. He says
  • John: I think there was probably a time where I had joy- where I e-experienced fleeting happiness or anger or fear but god, it's just been so long. Merle, I... I used to spend my days considering the nature of time and existence- maybe that brought me joy, once, but unlike everybody else whoever thought about those questions, whoever pondered the meaning of it all... I, and you may find this hard to believe, but, I solved it, Merle, I saw the fullness of time. I- I pondered eternity and was the first person, and only person, to successfully visualize it's treacherous arch.
  • Griff: He sits back down-uh-across the chess board from you and he says
  • John: You're a man of the cloth, Merle, certainly you've wondered too about what awaits our conscienceness after death or-
  • Griff: and he laughs. He says
  • John: Perhaps for some people who think about it, ther-theres nothing but infinite oblivion that the eternal erasure of your conscienceness or-fo-for some it's eternal life and their god's glorious kingdom or eternal cycling through all the inhabitants of their world. Any of these options, Merle, any of them are just, i-erasure or contentment or revival. Any of those are fine as abstract concepts, but eternally, Merle. Eternally? You can't possibly conceive of the length of eternity, Merle. I have. It's maddening and hopeless, but it's this burden we're all saddeled with from the moment of our creation. it's a finishline that by it's definition will never arrive. It stretches forever and ever- it's too ambivilent to even taunt those trapped behind it. It is the cruel price of existence, Merle, and it is too horrible to bear, once you've seen it. Existence, Merle. LIFE, Merle! It's horrible... to exist. To live is... horrible.
  • Griff: And he, kind of, chuckles and he realizes he got a little carried away there.
  • Merle: I don't think I want to hang out with you anymore, John. I think I'm take off... and you can continue... wallowing in your sadness and your oblivion 'nd seein' nothin' but the negative and I'm gonna go on my way... and I tell you what! If we ever meet each other somewhere in infinity, you can apologize to me and tell me you were wrong.
  • Griff: He chuckles a little bit, and he turns towards you and he says-
  • John: I'm sorry you feel that way. You're the first person who I've, sorta, talked about this to who hasn't listened. There were... everyone listened, Merle. I'm not being hyperbolic. Every person in the world was swayed. I don't know why you're different... but everyone else listened. Everything! Everyone across out whole plane of existence, ou-our shared vexation, with life, covered the world like a blanket, and soon every bird in the sky and every tree and every forest and every blade of grass and grain of sand, shared our fury, and it wasn't long before... It changed us.
  • Griff: And I think as he's talking, Merle, you see this scene outside this constant orange sunset start to turn inky and black, with these colorful ribbons of light you've seen inside the hunger-so many times. And he says-
  • John: We changed our entire plane into something new all together. A single being fueled by discontentment, searching for something bigger than this existence. Regardless of the cost.
  • Griff: He turns towards you and he says-
  • John: You call us the Hunger. That's not entirely inaccurate, cause we are hungry, but it would be more accurate to simply call us dissatisfaction, but soon-
  • Griff: and he holds up his hand, and says-
  • John: You will call us Ascendant.
  • Merle: Well, we'll see. John? Thanks for the chess game and kiss my ass you sanctimonious bastard.
  • Griff: He frowns and says-
  • John: Huh. I feel sad.
  • Griff: And he kills you.

anonymous asked:

I noticed in Jamie's converstation with Dickon he mentions how Lady Olenna and her men had to die because they chose to support Daenerys. So I don't know how people can start calling Dany mad or brutal when she's using the same tactic as Jamie and no one is calling him brutal. She only kills the Tarlys when they refuse to pledge allegiance after already betraying one of her allies and indirectly betraying her, just like why Jamie killed Lady Olenna.

Yep, let’s just lay this to rest right now.

Dany initially wants to travel to the Red Keep with her dragons because Cersei is winning and doing so in a way that is anything but peaceful.

Jon appeals to Dany’s mercy and goodness and she chooses to bring ONLY ONE dragon to meet the Lannister troops in battle instead of going to a city full of civilians. I have already seen several people calling these Lannister troops “innocent.”

I’m sorry but the attitude on tumblr is getting out of hand. I know we all want to apply our ideals and feelings about social justice in our lives but we can’t apply them to Game of Thrones. This is a war. People are going to die. I didn’t see any of you crying out or calling Jon or Sansa evil for killing Umbers, Karstarks, and Boltons in 6.09. I didn’t see any of you criticizing Sansa for playing her cards close to the chest which unfortunately resulted in the death of many, possibly thousands, of wildlings.

She played it smart to win. That’s what Dany is doing.

Please have some perspective, fandom. The men that Dany attacks in the Field of Fire are men who just butchered the entirety of the Tyrell forces. They sacked Highgarden. And before Jaime even knew that Olenna killed Joffrey, he poisoned her. He murdered a defenseless, elderly woman in cold blood. But I am seeing people calling him a hero and a savior and calling Daenerys a tyrant and a villain.

The other thing I want to clear up. I am sure that some “supplies” were destroyed by Drogon’s fire. But earlier in the episode Tyrion tried to comfort Dany with the knowledge that she still had the largest army and she said it didn’t matter because her army needed food. So I don’t believe for a second that she then turned around and purposely burned that food.

And to anyone waiting to say that it’s worse because fire is a bad way to die, I don’t really care??? How is this so much worse than being trampled to death under a mountain of bodies in BotB? More importantly, what do you guys want to happen? Do you want a show in which dragons are a centerpiece of the plot and one of the coolest and only high fantasy aspects of the narrative to IGNORE those dragons? Do you want them to just be an aesthetic decoration flying in circles over Dragonstone? Of course Dany is going to use them.

To be clear, I do think Jaime’s actions in 7.04 are heroic. But I don’t think that makes Dany a villain for being his adversary. Game of Thrones is all about grey morality. There are redeeming aspects to both of them. So please stop dragging the woman through the coals for doing what everyone else in the show, good AND bad guys, have been doing for years.

Three years ago I was dealing with a bout of depression. It was not unusual, I’ve had depression and anxiety for almost as long as I can remember. But this bout followed my thirtieth birthday. I was not upset about turning thirty. I did not think my life was over or that my youth was behind me. Rather, I was in the middle of an amazing year full of the freedom that came with stepping away from religious oppression, finding my own faith and defining what that meant to me, and coming off of a year of painful fertility drugs and the decision not to continue treatment. I’d honestly never felt better.

And yet … depression.

I got that apathetic kind of depression where nothing seems fun or exciting or even remotely attention grabbing enough to pull me out of bed. I was just … stuck. I was missing something.

As I do when I’m in a depression, I binged watched things. On a random Saturday, I stumbled upon Deathly Hallows Part One playing on ABC Family, likely during one of their marathons.

“God I forgot how much I fucking love these movies.”

I’d seen almost every one in theatre. He-Man had read the books religiously (and even worked at a book store during the release of the first few). I knew the general plot because he is utterly incapable of NOT sharing things with me when he’s reading. So when the movies came out, of course we went. He fumed and fumed in his seat over missing characters and twisted plotlines, and I laughed and laughed until some random kid behind me loudly whispered to his friend “That’s the one that dies at the end” when Cedric Diggory first appeared on screen. (Seriously. WTF, you little brat?)

Rather than read the books, I’d spent time playing on Pottermore and the wiki pages learning ingredients to potions and the etymology behind the spells. I loved the world that JKR created, but I suck when it comes to reading fiction. My attention span (especially in my twenties) was garbage.

So in the last week of June 2014, I borrowed my mother-in-law’s DVDs of the movies and binged them all. I laughed, I cried, I FELT something for the first time in weeks. Emotions. Feeling. Life. Magic.

“I want to read the books now. I need to read the books.”

So I read them. I read several chapters every night out loud while my husband played video games. I laughed when he cried. He laughed when I cried. I did voices, and we argued over exactly how pompous Lockhart should sound. I gasped during parts that were not in the movies. “Why is Molly being such a bitch to Sirius?” “Wait, who are all these other elves?” “Dumbledore’s a shit. I’m glad he’s dead!” “OMG Tonks. OMG Fred. OMG Remus. OMG I hate this so much.”

And I loved it.

I loved it so much.

I felt like an addict waiting for my husband to get home each night so I could keep reading. I begged him, “Just two more chapters. I’m almost done with this book!” even as I LITERALLY lost my voice in the middle of Deathly Hallows.

Then, like magic, I remembered that the story didn’t have to end. I’d been RPing written stories with friends for two decades, and I’d stumbled into fanfiction from time to time. So I knew what sites to go to.

I read epilogue continuations first. I wanted to know what happened after. Then I thought, “I wonder what if …?” And I fell head first into the deep end of Dramione, Marauders, and a crap ton of Marriage Law and Time-Turner fics.

“I have an idea. I want to be apart of this. I think I have a story in me.”

And three years later, I have a life. A hobby. A PASSION. I’ve made amazing friends, rebuilt a really fucked up self esteem and sense of pride, learned a lot about grammar and story structure, and helped to add building blocks to a fandom that saved me.

I can’t believe it’s been three years.

Thank you all, for some of the best three years of my life.

What kind of father they are||Why don't we||Preference 5♡

Daniel Seavey- Daniel is the dad everybody wished for, he woke up early with your daughter to watch cartoons while you slept, he cooked for her, took care of her when she was sick,he read her bed time stories, he protected her at all costs and as she grew up there was never a doubt in her mind that her dad loved her. Daniel was also the dad who had demanded she stay locked in the house until 30, don’t even get him started on her first boyfriend. You spent two hours talking him into letting his 16 year old daughter on a date, he was frantic about it. He cried when she moved out to college, he shed a few tears when he walked her down the aisle and never went a day without telling her how proud he was of her. Daniel was the supportive type of dad. He taught her how to believe in herself, how to love herself despite what others might say. He taught her that there was nothing in the world she couldn’t do. That failure and mistakes are apart of life, but what she took from those that made them positive experiences. She grew up with the same mindset and attitude Daniel did, positive, bubbly and full of love.

Jack Avery- Growing up with a house full of sisters had prepared for Jack for the day he had his own little girl, and he was amazing with her. He was the dad who started fights with other dads when their kid was an asshole to his princess. One time your daughter had ran out of school crying when she was 6 and nothing had ever broken his heart more. He picked her up, kissed all over her cheeks and then brought her to an ice cream place before going home and watching Disney princess moves and playing dress up with her to make her feel better. Then the next day not only did he go to the principal and yell at him for allowing bullying to happen in the school but he also talked to the father of the child who had said the hurtful things, that didn’t go well and you had to tell him to walk away more than once knowing that not only was your daughter watching but it could seriously hurt his and the boys career. But he didn’t care about his career int hat moment, he cared about his daughter being treated with respect.

Jonah Marais- Jonah spoiled your daughter in everyday possible, he could never tell her no. Before she was born Jonah had almost bought a whole baby section because “Look how cute these are! We needed them Y/n” “Image my princess wearing this cute little booties! THEY ARE PINK AND THEY SPARKLE Y/N”. And over the years nothing changed, at the age of 14 he had bought her a phone, at the age of 17 he had bought her a car and when she was ready to move out on her own he took her shopping for everything she could ever possibly need, always wanting to know she would never be without. Jonah also had a hard time letting go, he had spent her whole grade 12 year trying to bribe her with things to make her stay home an extra year. He wasn’t ready to watch his little girl walk out the door and start a life on her own, hating the idea of her not needing him anymore.

“Ill always need you dad, you’re my number one guy” Your daughter smiled before pulling him into a hug.

If you told anyone Jonah would deny it, but he had tears streaming down his face as her car pulled out of the driveway with all of her things for her new apartment in them.

Corbyn Besson- Lets start this off by saying that babygirl Besson started killing the shoe game in the womb and continued to do so all through her life. One thing you couldn’t stand was that Corbyn and your daughter went shopping at least once a week. Corbyn was the dad that couldn’t stand to see his daughter cry, when something made her sad or angry or any type of emotion other than happy he would take her for a long drive to get ice cream where she could talk about everything going on. Corbyn and your daughter had a very open relationship, as she grew into her late teen years Corbyn even found himself asking for her advice. Corbyn was the best friend type of dad and your daughter loved it.

Zach Herron- To you Zach was the perfect dad, growing up with a single mom as a parent you never really knew what a dad’s roll was in a kids life and one of your biggest worries while you were pregnant was that you would be doing all of it. But as soon as the baby was born Zach stepped up in ways you couldn’t imagine. You and Zach parented as a team, always. He was strict when he needed to be but loving and soft when he needed to be. Your daughter had an amazing relationship with him growing up and nothing made you happier than that. You never wanted her to grow up fatherless like you did, and she didn’t. She grew up with a father who loved and cared for her more than anybody else in the world. Although there were times where Zach wanted to kill her, he would kill for her anyday, he had her back until the very end and there was no way to replace the love he had shown her over the years.

a DAMN GOOD IGNIS MOMENT.

But really, the more I watch it the more I realise it’s not only a fantastic Ignis moment, it’s a fantastic Chocobros moment in general? REALLY LONG POST AHEAD + UNFINISHED GAMEPLAY WRITING BUT THIS SCENE

Lemme start with Ignis because duh (if you’ve seen anything out of me the past two weeks, it’s probably been Ignis related). He’s been pretty passive about losing his eyesight up until this point. He calls it a minor sacrifice in the grand scheme of things. When Noctis and Gladio fight on the train, Ignis says nothing, even though part of the argument is his own injury. He only tries to stop Gladio by saying his name; Prompto is the one who tries to break it up (more in a moment. anyway not that Ignis really could break it up rn but you know) He’s been optimistic enough about it, though. “I’ll manage somehow” when you invite him into the mines. “This is considerably harder than I expected” he says about fighting. But sometimes you hear the boys say something and Iggy just sort of sighs. They’re dancing around him, and his injury, and the argument, and this scene is where it culminates.

The first time he actually says that it isn’t okay is because of their friendship hitting a low point, rather than his actual injury. But he is so, so aware of that injury and how it has the potential to drag them down. He still says “I would remain with you all. Til the very end” because these are his brothers and he damn well plans to, but that said.

This is the first time we hear Ignis raise his voice, I think. Not including battle cries and the like. Which is saying a lot because this boy is very, very calculated on his emotions. (ie later on when Prompto falls off the train, you hear the very audible difference in Noctis’s voice vs Iggy’s) He’s Crownsguard, Noctis is his king, he will do anything for him, and believes he has no reason to complain even if he has gone blind. But that’s a Big Thing. His yelling in this scene exactly “I know full well!” is finally, finally his frustration coming out and it’s triggered because of their bickering (or anti-bickering, since they aren’t really… speaking much).

He says he is willing to bow out if he starts to slow them down, which imo is like asking him to suffer a physical injury all over again (he is Crownsguard, Noctis is his king, he will do anything for him) but he still will DO IT because he won’t be a burden.

He goes on to give Noctis what, I think, is a much needed confidence boost. “A king pushes onward always, accepting the consequences and never looking back” and in the opening sentences for the next chapter, it literally uses those same words to describe Noct’s reaction to Ardyn’s trick: never looking back. (Also never looking back is exactly what Ignis is doing right now, which is why the choice to focus the camera so much on his scars in that moment is AMAZING.)

He continues with that to tell Gladio that Noct will be king and he will rule, but “only once he’s ready”. And this is SO important. Gladio’s interaction with Noct is painful at least and rage inducing at worst (more below) but not only does Noct need to hear this, Gladio does, too. They can push Noctis into that throne but he will never be able to lead until he is ready, and that involves coming to terms with some very, very heavy stuff that’s been happening. Everybody doesn’t handle grief the same way and they’re all having a hard go at it in very different ways thanks to the events of late.

So all of this makes this the DAMN GOOD IGNIS MOMENT. But it’s also really good for the rest of them, both in mentioned ways and others, but since I’m apparently waxing poetic
