plastered walls

This is for @uncannycookie since I asked if they wanted anything and they requested something about Mob going with Teruki to get his ears pierced, so here it is!

But then I also found I wanted to do the entire scene and I didn’t have time to draw it all so… I wrote fanfiction for the first time in my entire life. Writing is very much not my forte so I hope I didn’t make too many mistakes. I just thought it was a cute fluffy scene. Ummm, I hope you like it! *screaming over writing*

“You didn’t have to come you know,” Teruki said as he opened the door, a bell gently chiming above them. “It’s going to be fairly quick to get done.” He held the door open for Mob before shutting it behind them, leaving behind a crisp Autumn day and becoming encased in the warm, dark interior of the shop.

Concept:

During a physical education lesson, their teacher divides them into team Chat Noir and team Ladybug.

Chloe starts her usual bollocks, only this time Mari resolutely stomps over to team Chat Noir and CREAMS the others, even though Adrien and Kim are there.

Proudly stating no-one was besmirching Chat’s name in front of her, she leaves the class with the strong impression that they never want to get into fisticuffs with her. And that she has a crush on Chat Noir.

Adrien is suddenly struck by how PRETTY she looks when she’s all flushed and breathless from beating the crap out of him.

That night, he goes to knock on her window, with every intention of letting her down slowly. She ends up beating the crap out of him instead - at video games.

He tries again a week later - because he wants to let her down gently, not because he wants a rematch - and instead she feeds him cookies from a piled plate she mysteriously has in her room. Like she was waiting for him.

Third time, he’s sure he’s going to do it because it’s gone on long enough and he can’t keep avoiding it, and instead he finds her crying over her physics homework because she missed the class and can’t understand it. He ends up tutoring her, and comes again five more times at least to help her with her work. She makes sure to have at least one quiche ready when she finds out it’s his favourite.

By the twentieth time he goes, he swears he’s going to tell her, he loves ladybug and only her, if nothing else because he can’t stand Plagg and his teasing anymore. Instead he finally notices the wall plastered with his face - both of his faces. Adrien and Chat smile down at him and he’s not sure how red he is, but it’s VERY hot in her room all of a sudden.

When she notices that he saw and starts blushing and stammering, Chat is a gonner, because this really sweet and talented girl looks both of him in the face every day in her room with admiration and affection and there’s only so much a teenage boy can take.

He talks it out with Ladybug. She appears all surprise at first, a bit embarrassed that she’s always taken his flirting as a joke, but totally ok with the fact that he’d sort of moved on to Mari without realising it. She falls off the roof when he insists that he WILL tell her his identity, because Mari has him on her wall with and without the mask and he wants at least one person in his life who likes all of him like that.

He’s sure she’s hit her head because even when she comes back up, she only speaks in squeaky, broken sentences. She insists on going home right after, and he lets her end patrol early.

He’s not sure what happens the next day when Mari jumps into his arms, calls him her kitty and plants a long, wet kiss on him on the school stairs, but he’s not complaining. He could swear his driver is snapping photos. He sure hopes Gorilla plans to share.

ccajoyrx: Zoa has pictures of her absolute favorite band, @panicatthedisco plastering her walls. She has Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) and is recovering from a harrowing bone marrow transplant. Because of this she has a compromised immune system, and doctors told her she couldn’t attend her very first concert for fear of infection. CCA’s Link and @mymusicrx programs were thrilled to team up to give her a 14th birthday she will never forget! Zoa and her mom were given exclusive access to a Panic! soundcheck and even visited with lead singer @BrendonUrie who hooked her up with band merch, an autograph, and some great photos. #MusicHeals

Pyramid Scheme scammer ends up paying in the end!

(very long story)

About 6 or 7 years ago, I was trying to enlist into the military. I ended up not joining but that’s a story for another time. At this point, I was led to believe I was about 4 months away from leaving for Boot camp. I was running out of savings, and needing a part time job for some spending cash while I waited around.

So I did what any enterprising 20something would do, and searched craigslist for jobs. I normally hate sales jobs, especially those based on commissions, but figured it would be a great way to earn some extra cash short term. Found a few job listings that looked promising, and put out some applications. A few days later I received a call from David. He was opening up a new store and needed associates. He liked my resume and asked if I’d be available for an interview on Friday morning. I was very up front with him, and let him know that the distance was a bit more than I’d normally drive for a retail job, and asked what he was offering for an hourly rate, to see if it was worth the drive. He told me that they were planning on offering an hourly rate in the mid teens, along with commission. Seemed like an ok deal, so I agreed to be there Friday at 8am.

A thought

Marinette keeping the pics of Adrien up on her wall becuase she cant bring herself to throw them out, but adding pictures of her other friends as well so it’s less weird. Suddenly it’s Adrien and Alya and Nino and Rose and Kim and everyone at school who’s plastered against her walls. She adds pics of her parents, her neighbors, her Aikido instructor, and all the little kids she babysits. She even asks the regular patrons at the bakery if they’d mind posing for a portrait. (which of course they do because she’d always been so sweet and sunny and who could resist those blue eyes.)

then one day Adrien gets invited back to her house. maybe to study, maybe for video games, the reason isn’t important. what is important is the fact he climbs up into her room and just marvels at all the friends Marinette has. The sheer volume of people she knows is staggering, he thinks, and he spends a good ten minutes looking at every single picture.

Some wonderful things to keep in mind for this scenario:

  1. Adrien spots himself amongst her collection, and while he’s not-so-lowkey ecstatic over the fact someone cares enough about him to hang his picture on their walls, he’s also a bit glum that the only shots she has are from magazines. everyone else gets candid shots or laughing selfies, things that show their personality, but all his photos are fabricated and retouched. Impersonal. He gently brings this to Marinette’s attention, and suggests she take some new pictures of him. Pictures just for her. (cue Marinette dying)
  2. Adrien also happens to spot another familiar feline face on the walls, and just barely swallows down his pleased smirk (’cool it, you’re not in costume’) to find a dozen pics of Chat Noir scattered across Marinette’s room. Most of them he recognizes from the Ladyblog, but there’s one or two that seem to be candid captures of him on patrol. (which yeah, should probably freak him out but damn if Marinette’s photography skills dont make him look heroic as fuck under the moonlight.) He asks- very super casually -if she’s a fan, and is not at all emotionally prepared when Marinette launches into a speech about how Chat Noir is one of the most selfless, kind, and underappreciated people in all of Paris, and how he deserves just as much recognition as Ladybug for keeping the city safe. “Everyone needs to remember, his destruction is what balances Ladybug’s creation. Without each other, they’d be nothing,” Marinette prattles on. (Adrien nods mutely, desperately trying and failing not to fall in love.)
  3. Speaking of Ladybug… she’s noticeably absent from the walls. When asked about it, Marinette grows vague, saying something about how she’s waiting for the right picture or what not. something unique. something that isnt already on the walls of every Ladybug fan in Paris. ‘Something unique…’ Adrien muses, asking Marinette if he might barrow her camera for the night, ‘I might just be able to do that…’

Soulmates (AU) Part 2

Pairing: Harry and Y/N

Word Count: 2677

Prompt (AU) : Harry took his anger out in sex-and you weren’t supposed to do that. He would go to the bar and find others just as terrible and lonely as him, drink, and then sink his sorrows into anything with breast and a hole were to put it. Niall always rolled his eyes the next morning and say to Harry “you’re a proper dick, yeh know that right?”, to which Harry would lift his middle finger up and respond with, “if soulmates are real she would love me anyhow.”

“Harry when you meet her your life will change,” Anne says, handing him a cup of tea.

Harry rolls his eyes, “I don’t care to meet her. It’s all bullshit,” Harry grumbles.

Part One

There were very few things that bugged Y/N in life. Y/N hated when people didn’t use their turn signals when driving, or when people walked too slow in front of her, or when people rolled their eyes or stared at her, but she absolutely loathed when people wouldn’t respect her choice and try and force her to talk. It was clear, crystal clear, that she wasn’t much of a talker, and yes or no questions where the good route to go, but when people edged her on she got upset.

For example, Harry just couldn’t wrap his mind around how his other half would not utter a single word to him. Y/N had written down on a whiteboard that she was ‘mute’ and would really prefer if Harry stayed away from the label. She explained that even though he was her soulmate (and she would love to be open with him) talking just didn’t seem like something she was ready for.

She watched as Harry rolled his eyes, crossing his arms, and frowned. She could feel his annoyance (literally) and she wanted to stub her toe on the table just to tick him off, but she felt like it was rude and she didn’t want to put herself through the pain as well.

“So like what? I’m supposed to spend the rest of my life with someone who won’t talk to me?” Harry asked, his eyes on her as she walks down the hallway of her apartment complex.

Y/N shrugs, ‘learn asl,’ she signs.

“The fuck does that mean?” Harry spat.

This doesn’t look like much. An old, cracked bowl with poorly-done glaze. But to the Japanese in the late 1500s, this was a prize!  Provincial Korean porcelain bowls, such as this one, were highly valued as tea bowls in Japan. The discoloration of the clay was caused by the tea’s seeping through pores in the glaze. Japanese connoisseurs poetically compared the subtle variations in color to the rain-stained plaster walls of a dilapidated hut. And by “poetically” I mean, they literally wrote poems about tea bowls like this one.

Those cracks by the way? They are repaired with gold lacquer. It was the traditional method for repairing chips and cracks in Japan, meant to highlight the life each vessel had lived.

"You dont want me" ladynoir

Ladybug sat at the top of the Eiffel Tower, her head in her hands, wondering how she could have possibly screwed things up SO badly.

She heard the light footfall of her partner landing behind her. She couldn’t say she was surprised, he had never been one to leave her to stew in her own misery.

“So…” he drawled, coming and sitting beside her, “that was an interesting broadcast today.”

“It was a disaster,” she moaned, still not looking up at him, “I should just throw myself off this tower and put myself out of my misery.”

“Oh come on, it’s not as bad as all that,” Chat said, patting her awkwardly on the back.

She turned and glared at him. “It was a live stream, Chat! LIVE! It’s out there. Right now!”

“True,” he conceded, nodding his head, “but it’s not like you said anything horrible. It was kinda cute actually.”

“You don’t understand,” she moaned, slumping over so until she was curled up in his lap, “I’ve ruined everything! What sort of an idiot starts babbling about their crush on a live broadcast.”

“Well, apparently you,” Chat said with a light laugh, cautiously reaching forward to play with the ends of her hair, “and about half of the rest of the known world. It could be a lot worse buginette.”

“Do you think there is a chance he didn’t see it?” she asked hopefully, looking up at her partner’s thoughtful expression.

He gave her a pitying smile. “I think you’re pretty much out of luck their bugaboo. You already have a ship name and everything. It’s trending on twitter.”

“Ugh, that’s terrible,” she groaned, curling up tighter and burying her face against his leg.

“I don’t know,” Chat teased, “I thought Ladrien had kind of a nice ring to it.”

“This can’t be happening,” she moaned.

“Hey, come on. What’s this really about? Is it really going to be so awful for the guy to know you like him? He might be flattered.”

“It’s not that,” Ladybug said softly, “I mean, it’s MORE than that. I haven’t even told him I liked him- as myself, my not Ladybug self I mean. And now… let’s say he does feel flattered? That just means I have made myself my own competition! And it’s not like I can just go up to him and be like: Hey, by the way I’m Ladybug and, as you already know, I’m totally in love with you! Want to date me now?”

“Oh god,” Chat said with a sudden sense of horror, “there are going to be so many desperate fangirls trying to do that.”

“I didn’t even think about that! If he didn’t before he’s definitely going to hate me now. I might be the only person in the world who can simultaneously confess to her crush and make it harder for him to notice me!”

“You really are one of a kind there bugaboo,” Chat said giving her another reassuring pat on the shoulder.

“And what if this puts him in danger? I mean I might as well have stamped a butterfly tattoo across his back saying property of Ladybug, please exchange for one miraculous!”

“Please don’t do that. I am told that models need to be very particular about what they put on their skin.”

“It’s not funny. What if I honestly made him a target?”

“Hey,” Chat said “I promise you, if anything happens I will be the first person on the scene.”

“Thanks,” she said gratefully, reaching up and catching his hand in her own.

“So, you’re in love with the model boy,” Chat said softly, rubbing his thumb absently against the back of her hand, “gotta say I didn’t see that one coming.”
“Yeah well, it’s not like it really matters anymore,” she sighed, “it’s not like it would ever happen.”

He scoffed at her, rolling his eyes theatrically to show his clear contempt for her pessimism. “So tell me My Lady,” he asked shifting slightly so that he could look down at her with a playful smile, “what is it that you see in this guy anyways?”

“Wouldn’t you like to know.”

“You don’t want me, so clearly you aren’t after the guy for his looks,” Chat said wiggling his eyebrows flirtatiously.

“No,” Ladybug laughed, “although they don’t hurt.”

“Why My Lady, was that you finally admitting that you find me attractive?”

“You’ve always been attractive and you know it,” she said reaching up and flicking his bell. “As you can see I’ve just had my attentions elsewhere.”

“Oh so this is a long standing attachment then? How long have you been dreaming of being M’Lady Agreste?” he teased poking her lightly on the nose.

“Almost from the first day I met him. It will be two years next week,” she said softly.

“The start of school,” Chat murmured, “you know him then?”

“yeah,” she admitted reaching blindly around to catch his other hand and pull him to her like a security blanket. “We were in the same class in college and we still have a few classes together now. Plus our friends are dating so we hang out a lot.”

“You two are close then,” Chat said a little breathlessly, “that… well that certainly clears things up.”
“Yeah,” Ladybug said, “it’s not just some creepy celebrity crush. I mean, it kind of was that too. I have like 2 dozen photos of him plastered on my wall that I used to practice talking to because for the longest time I could barely string a sentence together around him, it was kind of embarrassing. I got over it eventually, but by that point I didn’t really have the heart to take the pictures down.”

Chat gave her a warm smile. “I can see it now, you stuttering and tripping and shooting the poor confused boy adorable awkward smiles before running off in the opposite direction.”

“Shut up,” Ladybug said but she couldn’t help grinning at her partners soft tone and fond smile. “I got better.”

“I know.” He raised one of her hands to his lips and gave her a delicate kiss. “So you still haven’t told me what you see in this guy,” he challenged, “If I am getting demoted to your rebound choice I deserve to know what I am up against,” he said slyly.

“He’s kind,” Ladybug smiled, filling with warmth as she thought about her love. “He always wants to see the best in people, and he… he is just good, you know? The kind of goodness that doesn’t come from ignorance or being sheltered, but that has seen pain and and heartache and loss and yet still chooses to be good.

“That is high praise indeed My Lady.”

“You aren’t going to make fun of me for this?”

“No My Lady. If anything I am going to love you more for it.”

She gave him another grateful smile before sitting up. The sun had begun to set and she knew she should be getting home. She probably had a dozen of so missed calls from Alya waiting for her.

“Well who knows,” she said attempting to be flippant. “Maybe he’ll finally just reject me and I will change my mind about you Kitty.”

“Wouldn’t that be a twist,” Chat laughed climbing to his feet and offering her his hand to help her up as well.

“It would probably be for the best,” she sighed. “It’s not like we can be together. Not with Hawkmoth still on the loose. There is too much at stake. And I don’t know if I could bear having to hide my identity in a relationship.”

Chat grinned again. “You are very wise My Lady.”

“Mostly I am just telling myself that so I can feel better,” she admitted and was rewarded with a loud melodious laugh.

“You know,” he said, eyes twinkling “you are probably right. Clandestine meetings, midnight makeout sessions, it’s probably better to hold out for the real thing.”

“Yeah.”

“Besides, I hate to break it to you My Lady but I have a sinking feeling that #Ladrien is not to be.”

“And why is that Kitty?”

“Well,” Chat said looking out at the sunset, “not to be the bearer of bad news but I have it on very good authority that your lover is very much spoken for.”

“oh?” Ladybug said trying not to let her disappointment show.

“Yes, completely and hopelessly in love. Someone at his school in fact.”

“And who is this mystery girl?” she asked.

“It’s right on the tip of my tongue,” Chat said his eyes glittering with something she couldn’t quite name, “it will come to me. I’ll have to tell you next time I see you.”

“Well thanks for the heads up,” she said leaning over to give him a kiss on the cheek, “and thanks for cheering me up.”

“Always My Lady. I should probably get heading home myself.” he pulled out his staff and and extended it.

“Oh,” he said, shooting her a final grin as prepared to depart, “I do remember one thing.”
“And what’s that?”

“The mystery girl, I knew there was something about her that I found particularly delectable.”

“And what is that?”

“Her parent’s own a bakery.”

How Achieving Your Dreams in a Way you Didn’t Envision is Not Always a Bad Thing

Victuuri Week 2017 – Day 3 – Day Prompt, Victor Prompt – Dreams, Hope/Regret

Today for Victuuri Week Day 3, I’d like to talk about Hopes and Dreams and how not achieving what you initially desire in the form you envision isn’t always a bad thing. In this case, we’re going to look at what Yuuri and Victor’s hopes and dreams for their futures may have been pre-series and how they got way more than they bargained for simply by meeting each other.

Let’s start with Yuuri. We know right from the beginning of episode 1, even before we knew the title of the episode, that Yuuri aspired to skate on the same stage as Victor. We’re shown how this dream was formed and nurtured by friends and family through his childhood and teen years and carried by his feelings through to adulthood. He did everything he could to just come close to Victor; whether that be through his skating, having his walls plastered with posters of him, or even getting a dog of similar breed to Victor’s and naming it after him. So Yuuri’s hope for the future was fairly obvious even if it did have a time limit with the nature of the careers of competitive figure skaters.

Now how about Victor? We don’t really have enough information about his childhood to conclusively say anything for certain but, as far as we can tell, he didn’t have as clear of a dream laid out as Yuuri did. Optionally, you could even argue that he had a dream before but had already reached it. This is actually one of the major facets of his characterization and development through the series. He is the polar opposite of Yuuri in that at the start of the series he didn’t have any concrete hopes for his future. All he knew is that he wanted to skate and keep skating because this was just the thing he always did and had no reason to change it. There may have been a time when skating (or even competing) might have been called his dream, but by the start of the series it no longer was. It had just become a thing he did due to his pride as a skater/competitor and his lack of direction in his life overall.

And then, of course, the series truly begins and they meet each other. Now, we could look through the evolution of how their hopes and dreams changed over the course of the season but I think it will be more expedient to look at where they started and ended and compare the two.

Starting with Yuuri, what’s interesting is that through the course of the season you almost forget about the exact form of his initial dream: to skate on the same ice as Victor. He managed to connect with Victor in so many other ways but he had yet to actually compete against him. He may have felt directionless at the start of the series because he felt he had failed at reaching his dream but the reason for that was because he already had achieved his dream. It just wasn’t in the way he envisioned. He then became disillusioned with his dream. That is, until Victor himself came crashing face-first into his life.

Speaking of our favourite platinum-haired Russian, let’s check in with Victor. Victor may not have had a concrete dream before he met Yuuri but then they connected and he slowly rediscovered that he actually did have a dream all along. A dream that probably comes as no surprise but is actually very similar to Yuuri’s own: he wants to skate. And he wants to enjoy it. Yuuri then helped open his eyes to that, he helped him rediscover his love of skating as a whole and through this rediscovered his hope for the future.

But wait, there’s more! Everything that I’ve talked about so far actually only brings us to the end of ep 11. By the time the hotel room scene comes around, Victor has rediscovered his love for skating and his focus, his hope for the future, had become completely centered on Yuuri. So far as he could see, his future was to coach Yuuri until Yuuri eventually retired and then figure things out from there. And Victor was content with that as long as he could do that with Yuuri. He had even shifted his dream that involved enjoying skating to accommodate no longer being a competitor.

Yuuri, however, had other plans (which we as viewers always knew he did). Yuuri misread what Victor’s current hopes were and attempted to sacrifice himself in an attempt to allow those dreams to come true. Yuuri had adjusted his dream from wanting to skate on the same ice as Victor to wanting to make Victor happy and allow him to reach his own dreams. On the flip side, Victor had adjusted his dreams from wanting to skate for himself and find purpose in his life to wanting to make Yuuri happy and achieve his dreams.

So if both are wanting, above anything else, to help the other achieve their dreams then where do they go from there? Yuuri is planning to retire and Victor has basically already done so. The answer comes back to those initial dreams from episode 1. The dream Yuuri has to skate on the same ice and same level as Victor and the incomplete dream Victor had to enjoy skating again and find purpose in his life.

Through a combination of them both working towards helping each other and some outside encouragement, they actually end up achieving so much more. They both manage to achieve their hope of allowing their partner to achieve his dreams and well as achieving their own. Yuuri is finally able to skate on the same ice as Victor, as a competitor and someone that is on the same competitive level as him, and Victor is able to rediscover his passion in skating. And not only that, but they are able to continue their relationship that exists both on and off the ice.

Comparing the place they’re at by the end of the series to where they started at episode 1, we can see that their perceived failure to achieve their initial dreams in the form they had envisioned actually helped them achieve them in a way they hadn’t imagined. Through the willingness to throw away their own dreams, they managed to push each other to higher heights and not only achieve their own dreams but cement in place a firm hope for the future.

In the end, they became the key to not only achieving each others dreams but in doing so also opened a previously hidden door to a new envisioning of their own initial dreams.

MASTERLIST // PART TWO

“Mr Howell, can you please pay attention?!”

“I don’t know, can I?” Dan was smirking and cockily looking up at the teacher. She seemed perplex and instead of answering she just handed him a detention slip.

Dan didn’t really care instead he enjoyed that he made the whole class laugh. He felt like he was glowing as Mrs Hammersmith was evilly glaring at every student that couldn’t hold in their laughter.

And then he heard her, the girl that sat in the middle of class right in front of him. He’d been staring at her back all semester but not once had he heard her talk. Okay, maybe she had answered a question that she was asked, but she never said more than that.

But right at this moment he could clearly hear her giggle at his comment and he had never heard anything that beautiful. It was light and so genuine.

Dan had never really noticed her before. She was just there. Nobody ever payed attention to her and that was what she wanted. She didn’t want to be noticed but ever since Dan heard her giggle he couldn’t stop noticing her.

When the bell rang every student quickly sprinted outside. Everybody seemed to hate English Literature taught by Mrs Hammersmith, but Y/N didn’t. She liked the books her teacher gave the class to read and she’d spent nights devouring them. Still she didn’t say much during class even though she knew all the answers. Y/N just didn’t feel like she needed the attention unlike the boys who sat right behind her.

She picked up her school bag and notebook as she followed everyone outside.

“Get out of the way!” She heard somebody shout, seconds later she felt a hard shoulder hit hers.

A blonde guy was chasing his friend through the hallway. He didn’t pay enough attention to his surroundings to see Y/N walking right in front of him. The two of them collided. She was pushed against a stranger’s locker and dropped everything she was carrying. Her notebook hit the floor with a loud thud as the loose pieces of paper she stored in there scattered all over the floor.

Her ‘attacker’ didn’t even say anything he was long gone when Y/N got up again.

“You look like you need help.”

Dan had watched his friend Joe chase Carter, another friend of his, down the hallway. At first, he laughed because he knew that Carter must have done something really stupid, but then he saw Joe run into the quiet girl from class.

Y/N gulped nervously. Before she could tell the brown-haired boy that ‘it’s okay’ he had already started picking up her notes and scribbles.

“Don’t worry about it. I’m Dan by the way.” He showed her his friendliest smile. She smiled back as soon as she saw his dimples. Y/N recognized him as the guy who sat behind her in English Lit.

“Hi, I’m Y/N.”

Dan was surprised that her voice wasn’t all quiet. It just sounded very clear.

She bent down next to him to help him pick up her papers. Dan gathered as many as he could and couldn’t stop himself from taking a quick glance at them before he handed them back.

Her handwriting wasn’t as neat as he had expected it to be. It was rather messy but he could still make out a few words. It didn’t look like anything school related.

Y/N noticed that Dan took a look at her notes. She had just scribbled song lyrics and poems down and she was sure he couldn’t even read what it said.

“Thank you for helping me.”

“You’re welcome. I’m sorry that Joe pushed you over.” Dan nervously laughed a little. He didn’t really want this conversation to end, but he had nothing else to say.

“Don’t worry about it. It wasn’t on purpose.”

“I’ll see you around?” Dan asked her, hoping that they would get the chance to talk to each other again.

“I guess so.” Y/N answered.

They had never talked to each other before. In fact, she didn’t talk much. Dan was one of the loud boys in the back of class, so Y/N was understandably a bit confused by his sudden…interest?

After they had said their byes they walked off in different directions. Dan couldn’t stop himself from turning around again and staring at her back that was moving away from him.

‘Who is she?’ he silently asked himself and he didn’t find an answer.

Yes, she was the quiet and shy girl that sat in front of him in class, but who was she really?

Dan just needed to find out.

He hadn’t stopped thinking about her once after that incident. He even subtly asked his friends about her, but most of them didn’t even knew what girl he was talking about.

The next time he walked into English class he had a weird feeling in his stomach region. He wasn’t feeling sick though, he was excited? nervous even?

She was already waiting for class to start in her assigned seat as always. A part of her face was hidden behind a strand of her hair as she was drawing little butterflies next to some of her notes.

When Dan walked past her seat she glanced up at him for a second, their eyes met and then she quickly looked down again.

Dan took the chair behind her and as soon as the bell rang Mrs Hammersmith started with her lesson. It was not unusual that Dan didn’t listen to whatever she said but normally it was because he’d be joking around with his friends.

That wasn’t the reason this time. This time he was thinking about the colour of Y/N’s eyes and how he had never seen more beautiful ones.

Mrs Hammersmith started handing out new books for everybody to read and most of the class groaned as she did so.

Y/N on the other hand curiously examined the title and cover of the book as soon it was handed to her. After every student was given a copy of the book Mrs Hammersmith raised her voice.

“I want you to do presentations on this novel.” She announced and again the class groaned.

“In pairs” the teacher then added and seemed to cheer up most of her students.

Y/N, however, quickly raised her hand.

Before she was even asked to speak, Mrs Hammersmith answered her question.

“No Miss Y/L/N you can’t do the presentation on your own. You’ll need to find a partner.”

Y/N’s hand slowly sank in defeat.

“I can be her partner.”

Every student in this class seemed to turn around to stare at Dan. Their eyes were nearly grouching out of their socket as they couldn’t believe that he had volunteered to pair up with the girl nobody noticed.

Even Y/N had turned around to face him. He was shooting her a grin and shrugged his shoulders as if he were saying ‘why not?’.

She simply nodded, agreeing to do this project together.

After class had ended Dan quickly followed Y/N outside.

“So… when do you want to meet up?” Dan asked her, scratching the back of his neck.

“Do you think you can finish the book until Friday?” she asked him, eying the novel she was now carrying on top of her notebook. It was pretty thin, she would probably read it in one go tonight.

“Sure.” He positively said although it would probably take him a while since he wasn’t really into reading that much.

“Good. Then we can meet up Friday after school. My place?” She wanted to know.

“Sounds great.” Dan smiled at her, already looking forward to Friday.

As the day of days had finally came Dan was unable to concentrate on anything in class or listen to anything his friends said. The only thought he was able to think was ‘I’m going to see Y/N today’.

Dan had stayed up until way past his usual bed time in order to finish the book. He was busy all week and didn’t have the chance to read it, but he would’ve done anything to finish it.

After his last lesson on Friday he nearly jumped up from his seat, he didn’t even say goodbye to Joe or Carter, he walked out of the building straight away to wait for Y/N in the parking lot.

To his surprise, she was already waiting for him right next to the entrance. What Dan didn’t know was that she was just as excited as him.

“Hi” she greeted him and Dan’s heart swelled with happiness at the simple word.

“Hey Y/N” he greeted her back and as she started walking he just followed her.

“We need to take the bus.” She explained as they made their way to the bus stop.

Five minutes later Dan sat in a bus that was driving in the opposite direction to where his house was.

They sat next to each other but didn’t talk much. Still, it wasn’t an awkward kind of silence between them. It just felt normal.

After Y/N had told Dan where to get off they walked a few metres until they had reached her house. She got the keys from her bag and unlocked the front door.

“My parents are at work. How do you feel about ordering something for lunch?” Y/N asked the brown-haired boy that kept looking around the house.

“Sounds perfect to me.” Dan exclaimed, only now noticing how hungry he was.

Dan took his shoes and jacket off before grabbing his bag again and waiting for her to tell him what to do.

“My room is upstairs.” She explained before she ran up the stairs on her tip toes. Just that simple act made him grin.

He followed her and as he entered her room his mouth hung open. There were Green Day posters and lyrics plastered all over her walls. There was even a drum kit in the back of her room.

He stared at her with wide eyes as he noticed the stacks of video games next to her TV. He had played and loved most of them, but he saw some that he didn’t even know of.

“There is a sequel to The Last of Us?” he asked her flabbergasted, picking up the game from where it was lying next to her PS4.

“It came out yesterday. I pre-ordered it. It’s so much better than I had expected it to be, and my expectations were high!” She excitedly exclaimed and Dan was taken aback by how passionate she was about it and how vigorous her voice sounded.

His gaze wandered through her room for a while as he took in all the tiny details and decorations.

Then, his eyes landed on Y/N again and he couldn’t help but stare at the girl nobody but him noticed. And boy, they all missed out on something.

“Who are you?” he asked her with a smile, not being able to read her.

Harry X Reader (AU)

In which Harry is a poetic frat boy who just so happens to be the TA for your new English class.

Read previous parts here.

Author’s note: Hi!! If you happen to see and spelling mistakes or grammatical errors, please do not hesitate to let me know!! Any and all feedback is appreciated, as always. I hope you enjoy!! We’re getting pretty close to the end. :(

Friday nights are for reading.

You’ve opened the window of your dorm room to let in a cool breeze that breaks through the suffocating warmth of the building’s heating system. You’re halfway through a copy of Wuthering Heights that you borrowed from Harry, curled up on top of your comforter and reading with the dim lights from outside. With each turn of a page, you find your thumb in a curved divet exactly the size of Harry’s thumb. You’ve learned in the past few weeks that he licks his fingers before turning pages.

A sharp knock comes at the door and makes you flinch. A glance at the clock shows that it’s twelve-thirty A.M. You stay put, flipping the page again and hoping whoever it is will think you’re asleep. But it comes again—harder, consecutive knocks that make you jerk into a sitting position.

The persistent banging continues and you groan, holding your place with a bookmark and sliding the book onto the desk beside you. You hop down off the bed, sliding your feet into a pair of slippers and padding across the room to open the door, where the knocking has finally stopped.

@lumenlight prompted me, “Sterek AU where Stiles tries to seduce Derek but Derek has the habit of only dating older people (Jennifer, Kate …). So he says no to Stiles and Stiles is really disappointed but by chance he keeps seeing Derek and with time Derek realizes that he may have made a mistake?”

Stiles usually doesn’t venture as far out of town as the Preserve—there’s not much out here but trees—but today that’s kind of the point. If he’s going to start up a jogging regimen to prep for lacrosse in the fall, he’s sure as hell not going to do it in his own neighborhood, where all his neighbors can (and will) watch him flailing around looking stupid.

He doesn’t actually end up jogging at all, though, because before he finds the trail he’d marked on his map, his Jeep abruptly sputters and dies on him right in the middle of the road. That’s also about when it starts raining.

“Oh, come on,” Stiles groans, hitting his head on the steering wheel a few times.

He pulls out his phone to call someone—his dad, a tow truck, Scott—and there’s no signal. Right. Because he wanted isolated, and he got it.

There’s no sound at all except the drumming of the rain on the roof of the Jeep, coming down harder and harder, taunting him for being such a fucking idiot.

He thinks about waiting it out, but who knows how long that could take, and if he doesn’t make it back home in time for dinner or at least get somewhere where he can make a phone call, then his dad is probably going to think he got eaten by a mountain lion or something.

“Fuck it,” he mutters. He pockets his phone and keys, grits his teeth, and jumps out into the downpour.

He has to walk for about twenty minutes before he finds any sign of civilization. It’s a house, or at least part of one. It’s tucked away down a long dirt driveway on the edge of the Preserve and looks sketchy as hell. It’s been burned, badly, and even though it looks like maybe someone’s been fixing it up, it’s still not exactly what Stiles would call habitable. Part of the charred roof is caved in, and most of the windows on the second floor are shattered, their jagged glass gleaming ominously in the dim light and the rain.

Stiles would assume it’s abandoned, except that there’s a shiny black Camaro parked out front. That at least looks well cared for.

It’s that detail, plus the rather compelling fact that this is probably the only house for at least a mile and Stiles can feel his feet starting to rub raw in his wet tennis shoes, that finally gives him the courage he needs to squelch his way through the mud and onto the porch to knock on the door.
