pitch perspective

I know this may sound bad, but the Tsar had me chuckling throughout the chapter. he's so bad but the way he says things and how frivolous he acts was just super amusing and an awesome contrast to all of the truths he was dropping on jack (my poor boy). what a great villain you've created. and I absolutely adore that he's sort of a new incarnation of the Nightmare King. when he dropped that line, I flipped my shit. amazing chapter as always, nervous for the next!

I’ve been looking forward to this reveal for so long. Up until now, it’s been so tempting to have the Tsar use some of the lines that Jack used in the mountain, but I held back on it, because I knew a lot of people would suspect that the Tsar obviously had more control of the Darkness than he was letting on, but hoped that wouldn’t lead to most people guessing that he was essentially the Nightmare King in this AU, before it was time. (And that seems to have mostly worked, woo!)

But it’s good being able to sort of have…a lot of previous things that folks have asked me about, make sense now. From why the orb of magic is in the mountain in the first place, why the Darkness tried to steer Jack away from it, why Pitch’s apathy and despair is so profound, especially after the first resistance attempt, and why people don’t just try to ‘randomly assassinate the Tsar anyway’ (I got this question a fair bit), etc. Like, obviously there’s new questions now to be answered, but it was good to tie up the majority of the Tsar-related loose ends.

And on that level it’s just such a satisfying chapter to have out there, because anything from here on in has to be radically different. Everything has to change. It’s like closing one door and opening a totally new one. Part of me is really scared I can’t pull this next part of the story off, but the rest of me is pretty excited to close the ‘Jack learning all about Lune and Pitch’ part of the story to a part that will be a lot more action-packed and adventure focused.

It also means if I want to, I can now start writing Pitch perspective chapters. This was the hold back. Since it’s something Pitch thinks about a fair bit.

So, the thing that I like about Ginny sucking in her first game is that she sucked because she wasn’t doing it for her. Too often girls and women are expected to put aside their own feelings and do things for others. It might be something we’re good at but it still wasn’t our decision.

All the reasons Ginny was out there in that first game weren’t for her. She probably didn’t intend for it, but she was doing it for all girls/women to show that you don’t have to be a male to play at that caliber. She was doing it for her dad and his dream. She was doing it as a way to appease her guilt for resenting her dad for forcing this on her and he ended up dying because of it. And like a lot of people who don’t do things for themselves, she failed.

But that second game was all about her. The second she went out to practice all by herself, it was all about her. She wasn’t doing it for all the fans or for her dad. She was doing it for her. Because she wanted it. When she let all that pressure fade away and the game be about her wanting to pitch, then she became something else.

Also, how awesome is it that the show’s narrative is saying that Ginny should be Mike’s legacy? Not his greatness, but the greatness of a black woman?

Haha this is so romantic it actually hurts me. Physically. I’m gonna be putting this one on AO3.

Pitch Black/Jack Frost

(I got two requests for this! Same word, same pairing! Guess two of you really want to see Jack and Pitch dance.)

(SALverse, basically fluff)

It was one of those days.

The words didn’t quite capture the heaviness of it. He didn’t have these days so often anymore. They tended to come on the backs of dreams about his old world, his old life – how many old lives did he have now? The one as the Nightmare King. The one as Pitch. The one as Kozmotis. The one as Kozmotis pre-Seraphina. The one as Kozmotis post-Seraphina.

This time, he’d dreamt about the celebrations after the successful initiation ceremony into becoming a golden warrior. It had been a rocky affair, he’d gone deeper into the darkness than the others and his supervisor had known it and carefully said nothing after seeing the look in Pitch’s eyes. So Pitch had tried to embrace the vivacity of his colleagues and peers, drinking as vigorously as they, and yet in the depths of him a darkness whispered quietly.

Fun and Fear (Jack Frost/Pitch)(10/28)

Original Prompt:

A lot of Black Ice fics seem to have Jack falling for an indifferent or cruelly amused Pitch. I am dying for a Pitch perspective fic in which he is slowly falling in love with an oblivious Jack. After the events of the movie, please (or both before and after).

+Pitch doesn’t realize it himself, at least not at first.
++If he does realize it, he is Not Happy.
+++Jack keeps cluelessly doing things that deeply affect Pitch.

Pitch runs into Jack on the roof of a haunted house attraction on Halloween night. Jack casually makes a point about fun and fear, and Pitch is not prepared for this at all.

‘That’s lazy,’ Pitch said. ‘But…since I don’t want you to step on my feet so many times I can no longer feel them, it will also expedite things.’ SQUEE. Oh Pitch. You little sassmaster.

I feel like the level of unholy glee that Pitch gets from verbally deadpanning and making fun of people is at such a high level that he’s at risk of it being his next centre. ‘Unholy glee.’

Inner spaces resounding with echoes of eternity,
far beyond the realms of either this or that,
my void heart beatless tethers to this mask,
infinite fields of black pitch and empty perspectives,
a shadow stretched forever upon my sight,
as a seed covered deep within the earth,
and if by chance watered with tears,
that have fallen from the eye of god,
to bloom once more in untold forms,
to die and yield, again and again,
…forever becoming.

NP i have a request to ask of you if I can. I have recently read your pitch perspectives and LOVE them as much as the rest of your Shadow and Light series, and as I was reading I remembered one of my favorite chapters and wanted to ask if you would do a pitch perspective of Chapter 14 from FDWR and honestly I love it because its one of the few chapters where we see Jack take control a bit! <3

Chapter 14 is the other Pitch Perspective from FtDWR I very much want to do. It’s on the cards! Just can’t predict when it’ll happen, I’m afraid. :)

hy there :-) i was wondering if you plan to continue with the pitch perspectives. or have you abandoned that completely? that would make me cry...

At this stage, there are no plans to return to the Pitch Perspectives over the next couple of months, though there is a chance I may do something for Christmas, we’ll see.
