So I want to start a "12 Journal Project". What kinds of journals should I get? How should they be decorated? Where should I get inspiration from?
firstly, yessss definitely do it!! You could either do 12 months of different books, or keep it the same with the same book. I use the a6 journals from sainsburys which are lined and cheap, you can also get good journals on amazon, brands like enviro, seawhite, pinkpig etc. You could also use moleskines, which are expensive but look so lovely. I find a6 a really good size for me because theyre easy to carry, and easier to fill than a larger a5, but thats just my personal preference! I decorate my journal front covers differently each month, making sure I have the month name and then some other kind of decoration. Ive used magazine cutting, film negatives, a bookmark, wrapping paper scraps, paint testers, painted directly on the cover etc. And then written the month in letter stamps, letraset, handwritten, painted, typewritten etc! As cliche as it sounds, inspiration is everywhere, partly the reason I do the project is so i can record things I see and experience daily. Use magazines, articles, internet inspiration sites like tumblr (my personal is joydivisixn.tumblr.com, and i have a tag joydivisixn.tumblr.com/tagged/artinsp, which i find useful) Write down intersting conversations you hear or people you meet, visit museums and galleries, pick up leaflets and free magazines. Watch films. Recently, having more free time ive watched more films and i find it so inspiring, especially the cinematography! All the best, I hope you enjoy the project and this hepled a little!x
