Huh? You started to remember how much you loved the very particular show? You are getting interested? So hurry up and check the brief info and send your sign up formto firstname.lastname@example.org.
Here are some titles that I feel deserve more love than they get!
From the New World - This anime was a masterpiece. Paced and well-planned, the show entangles you without you knowing until its too late. I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to sink their teeth into a psychological fantasy that leave you with a strange mix of innocence and uneasiness.
PrincessJellyfish - A love story between a confident and fashionable crossdresser and an awkward, introverted girl. This is golden!
Welcome to the NKH! - Just the right amount of humor and psychological torment to keep every viewer enthralled. Is it a conspiracy?
Monster - What happens when a promising young doctor saves the life of a boy who was fated to die? A gripping thriller of justice and revenge!
Bokurano - A group of kids become the chosen pilots of a robot faced with saving the planet, a beyond awesome experience for them!…or so they think. They sign the binding contract and now each one of them must pay the price.
Wolf’s Rain - As legend has it, wolves will open the gate to Paradise in a dying world. This anime is a gripping, heart-wrenching tale of an unlikely pack of wolves searching for promised Paradise. Out of any of the shows on this list, Wolf’s Rain is worth watching. It is a legend it its own right.
Samurai Champloo - THE MUSIC. The music alone should be enough to draw you into this epic tale, but in case you need more persuasion, know that this show revolves around the two most badass fighters in town and their quest to help a girl they are indebted to find the samurai who smells of sunflowers. Ugh its so gooooood.
Mawaru Penguindrum - Weird and comical sum up this anime pretty nicely! It is a fun watch that you will find hard not to binge on once you start. Stay with me people: An alien penguin-hat grants a girl her life back in exchange for her two bothers’ help in acquiring the Penguindrum (whatever that is). I know what you are thinking, but please give it a try! You won’t regret it!
Eden of the East - “This nation faces a great crisis. One among you must save us. I cannot tell you how. I cannot tell you why. Should you fail, you will be eliminated.” 12 people have been chosen to save Japan, each given a phone with 10 billion yen on it and the simple instruction to save Japan–their lives are on the line. Despite this harsh description, the actual show also has an element of humor, so don’t be afraid to jump in! Noblesse Oblige.
Steins;Gate - Many of you have probably heard of this and thought that is was too stuffy or complicated for you, but I’m here to tell you that you will watch this show, make it to episode 22, and then thank me. YOUR WELCOME. Sure, this show takes some getting into, but once you delve deeper into the plot, you will find things falling into place. It has unconventional characters, a really great romance stuck in there, and a pretty refreshing, sciency tone. Enjoy.
Nodame Cantabile - To think that so many people have not seen this gift to humanity sickens me. Nodame is most assuredly the most interesting and unique anime character to walk this little anime earth. There is music! There is romance! There is SO MUCH HUMOR! There are 3 seasons!!! You can’t really pass up this opportunity to watch a legend.
Hunter X Hunter (2011) - This is the only long-running shonen series I will ever watch. This is a series for those of you who like action but not fight scenes that span multiple episodes and like actual character development and good animation consistently throughout the show (I swear its perfect the whole way). Gon wants to be a Hunter just like his father and he meets Killua, the boy-assassin (an resident cinnamon roll), Kurapika, the last of the Kurta clan hell-bent on revenge, and Leorio, a guy who wants to strike it rich. Follow these four on a journey you won’t forget!
Thought I’d start off @vldangstweek with something that turns from angsty to fluffy, just because, based on the rest of this weeks prompts, it’s gonna get waaayyyy angstier (knowing me, anyway). Everything will be tagged with vldangstweek and any of my usual angst tags (angst, langst, klangst, etc)
Let my children go home, they’re stressed and tired (under a cut for length).
“Come on Lance, one more time! You
need to defeat this gladiator before I can allow anyone to go to dinner!”
Allura shouted down from the observation deck.
The quiet groans of his teammates
filled his head and Lance winced, stepping back to stand his ground against the
bot attacking him. His vision wavered over his helmet and his fingers trembled
against his bayard, unable to form it because of the close range combat style.
He grunted, rolling as the bot dove for him, sweeping it’s legs out from under
it and sending it to the ground. Briefly, he heard Hunk’s cheer of
encouragement in his comms, and then the bot was back up again, charging at
Lance sighed, side stepping the bot
and pressing his shaking hands to his head, trying to stop the swimming feeling
in his brain, the burn at the back of his throat and eyes, the tightness in his
chest. He took a hit, hard, and fell backwards onto his ass, teeth clacking
“Dude, seriously, we’re starving!”
Pidge called out. “You need to beat this!”
Lance took a shaky breath, shooting
a glare at the deck. “You want me to beat it? Fine. I’ll beat it.”
Before the bot could get any
closer, Lance whipped out his bayard, transforming it in the process and
ignoring Allura’s shouts of this being a hand to hand fight. Within seconds,
the bot was in a smoking heap on the floor and Lance was shaking, sweat curling
down his forehead. Allura stormed out of the observation deck and onto the main
floor, eyebrows furrowed. “That was not the
assignment, Lance. You’ll have to do it again.”
Lance ripped off his helmet and
chucked it to the ground. When he looked up, Allura took a step back at the
ferocity in his face, the tears in his eyes. “I said, no. I’m not doing this bull shit anymore. They’re
not either,” he snapped, pointing towards the deck. “You don’t get to treat us
this way, we’re the only reason
you’re not dead or still in those
stupid pods. You called us family, Allura.”
His voice broke and his lip
quivered as he stumbled back, shaking his head. “You don’t get to treat family
like this. Not when we’re doing all of this for you.”
He swallowed and spun on his heel,
storming from the room. Allura hesitated, glancing back at the deck only to
find the rest of the paladins and Coran standing behind her. She studied the
group, noted the lines on their faces and the bags under their eyes, and
frowned. “Do you all agree with him?”
They remained silent for a moment,
glancing at each other. Hunk spoke up first, his voice gentle. “Yeah. I do, at
“Me too,” Pidge piped up, staring
at the floor and fiddling with her bayard.
Keith nodded silently, rubbing a
hand up and down one arm and looking off to the side. Hunk huffed. “Allura,
we…I would say we’re homesick, but I don’t know if that covers all of us.”
“We’re Earth sick,” Keith offered.
Shiro spoke for the first time.
“Lance has the most family to miss out of the five of us.”
“And honestly?” Hunk muttered. “You
yelling all the time, you pushing him, and us, all the time? No breaks, no
relaxation time at all? I’m amazed he
didn’t snap before this.”
Allura swallowed. “I’m…”
“It’s okay,” Hunk promised. “We
understand, you want to stop the Galra, stop Zarkon.”
“But you have to remember that
we’re all volunteering to do this,” Pidge said, fidgeting from foot to foot.
“There’s nothing keeping anyone here other than empathy. Don’t give Lance a
reason to stop caring, or he will leave.”
Allura bit her lip and glanced over
her shoulder. “I should go-”
“No,” Keith said firmly, stepping
forwards and resting a hand on Allura’s arm. “We got this. You two go get
She and Coran studied the paladins
for a moment before nodding in agreement and leaving the training deck.
So this is a long one, but I think it’s important.
This will go in the “Headcanon” category. If you want to take this idea and expand upon it, please do! Tag me so I can see what you create! And HERE are my other headcanons!
I was sitting in a science class, thinking about Voltron, as you do. And a theory came up and hit me out of nowhere.
Now, I’m no biology major. But we’re talking about a show with giant space robot lions forming to make a giant space robot man piloted by an escaped prisoner with a magic/tech arm and four teenagers. I don’t think scientific accuracy is our main concern.
We know Keith is part Galra. We just don’t know how much. A lot of people are going for the 75/25 split in favor of human, because of how he looks. This is called phenotype - how our genes are expressed outwardly. But phenotype is determined by dominant and recessive genes. The genotype is what the DNA is actually made of.
With that in mind, you can have a 50/50 split in favor of Galra, with human being all dominant. With all the aliens out there that are even vaguely human-looking (with face structure, body structure, etc), it seems like human-like traits seem to be dominant in this universe’s genome. And we see Keith having human traits in the dominant form - dark hair, dark eyes. So we can think that most, if not all of Keith’s Galra DNA is in the recessive form in the genotype. It’s there, we just don’t see it. It could even be a 75/25 split in favor of Galra instead of human, but all be hidden. This is why some children look so much like one parent and almost nothing like the other.
So now that we’ve got the science out of the way, let’s talk about the Blade of Marmora episode and get some theories going.
Imagine Keith’s blade triggering the Galra DNA in his system, pulling it from genotype to phenotype. All the Galra traits were there, but they were all in the recessive form. The magic purple flash changed them all from recessive to dominant. That’s not exactly how our DNA works, but we also have this quintessence stuff that turned him a bit purple? We’re talking about alien biology, cut me some slack.
But this switch wouldn’t happen instantly (like we all wanted and made edits of). It would take time for the biology to catch up.
And that’s the transformation we wanted.
Imagine Keith getting super hungry, his body craving the nutrients to grow ears, claws, a new set of teeth, maybe a tail. With all the hand-to-hand combat he does, he must burn a lot of calories already. He goes to each meal eating three bowls of food goo, begging Hunk to make something with a lot of calcium because he’s so hungry. But once his body has stored up enough, the hunger disappears. He starts to feel nauseated. Who knows what a Galra diet entails, but it’s certainly not food goo.
Imagine him waking up to find that his body is itching from starting to sprout a fine layer of purple hair. He tries to shave it off his face, but it grows back by the end of the day (I mean, come on, they have to have razors on the castleship. There’s no way all of them stay so cleanly shaven, even if you go to the extreme and only count Shiro and Coran growing facial hair).
As his ear biology shifts, his hearing goes out of commission for a while. He tries to read lips, and it works pretty well, but you can’t read lips over an intercom through the Lions. The same thing happens with his eyes. The corners of them start to turn yellow, and his vision blurs as his actual eye is changing.
His jaw would start to ache like getting wisdom teeth, except for his entire mouth, until one day while he’s brushing them in the morning, they start to fall out. Depending on how different Galra bone structure is, he could even be incapacitated for a few days. We never see what a Galra foot looks like, or if their skull structure is different for the ears. He might even grow to a more Galra height, making him even more hungry.
I imagine that he would stay vaguely human-like. He wouldn’t change into an Ulaz-looking Galra, but a much more human-looking Galra. Short for a Galra, tall for a human, and much more human facial features. He’d keep his iconic mullet (even it turned just a tad bit more purple), his gloves would accentuate the aesthetic of claws, he’d even be able to master the very annoyed Galra snarl with the sharp teeth poking out. He would still look like Keith.
To end on a happy note, imagine the entire Voltron team being there for him during this transformation. Hunk would make him the most nutrient-packed meals he can manage, making sure to blend them up into a smoothie so his teeth don’t hurt. Pidge would dive into the science behind it, and even though Keith doesn’t fully understand, it’s somewhat comforting to know that someone does. Lance would absolutely be the personal cheerleader, always talking about how cool it is to have a Galra on their team and all the advantages it brings. Shiro would not only be the King of Moral Support but also help with the physical aspects. He’d train with Keith every day to help him adjust to the new Galra body. Coran would spout the history of Galra before Zarkon started taking over the universe, telling him about their culture and all the good things about them. And after a long period of giving him the cold shoulder, Allura would finally apologize. She’d take great strides to mend the relationship, even going so far as to do research into where his mother may have gone because she knows what it’s like to lose parents. And while that’s not directly helping him with the physical pain, it’s giving him very good peace of mind.
TL;DR: If Keith is going to have a more Galra form, it would be a much more gradual and painful change than just *poof* Galra. And everyone, even Allura, would be happy to help him with it.
every time it’s time to form Voltron, instead of Lance just saying “Form Voltron!” he says something really specific that just gets progressively more complex and descriptive every time they form Voltron, as a joke
Lance: guys! we need to form Voltron!
Lance: okay guys i think it’s time to combine our lions into Voltron now
Lance: let’s pilot our robot lions in a certain way so that they can come together and transform into the big powerful robot known as Voltron!
Lance: quick! we need to pivot the levers attached to the floor in the cockpit of our giant mechanical panthera leos- which are capable of space flight- so that we can maneuver into a position where the exterior of our lions can rearrange themselves and sync up together to which they combine- transforming into not just five giant mechanical space panthera leos, but an even bigger robotic being that is capable of mass destruction and is considered to be the most powerful weapon in the universe, also known as Voltron!
Matt must be so confused tbh like he’s imprisoned by some purple furries for over a year and a bunch of rebels bust him out and unlike the paladins he doesn’t have any alteans to explain what the fuck is going on to him like I imagine his new rebel buddies try to explain who the galra are and everything and he’s just like wtf. And when the paladins find him he’s gonna find out his sister and his boyfriend and their friends are apparently the defenders of the universe now and they pilot big color coded robot lions around everywhere. Eventually he just rolls with everything bc it ain’t worth questioning at this point.
