I'm a little confused on how any of the LGBT content was 'hidden' in Transistor. Yes, for sure you had to do a little bit of reading, but none of it was hidden and it took all of a few minutes. Plus reading those character files was an important part of the game, not some side off thing that they kind of squirreled away. They made the button flash and draw attention, and told you exactly what you needed to do to read more about the files. How is that hidden or "so much information", in any way?

So I’m going to use Sybil as an example. Her ability is “Help()”. If you never use “Help()”, then you never find out any information about her. If you only use it as a primary ability, you only get the first paragraph about her. Her ability is very useful as it creates a helper. So it is entirely possible to keep it as a primary ability and never regulate it to a secondary or passive role because the player can chose that spawning a helper is more useful than limiting the number of the Process cells that spawn after killing the Process. Thus it is entirely possible for someone to go through the entire game never getting to Sybil’s second paragraph where it states that she was infatuated with Red.

So yes, the game does draw your attention to the character files, however, it is completely up to the player to pursue those files and the information. Both Adrostas and I played the game separately and he did not read any of the character files because he didn’t think to. Which is why he wasn’t sure what I was talking about when I said that Red was a fantastic protagonist. The narrator explicitly says many things both about the people in the game and what’s happening. There could have been a line or two explicitly saying that these characters were LGBT+, like something like “well, at least they’re together in the Country…” for Asher and Grant.

The PS3 version was TERRIBLE. UGHHH. It’s been a long time since I’ve played ME1 on the PC though, so I’ll make a better comparison when I do.

Though, driving the Mako on the PS3 was so much EASIER. On the PC it’s just going to be me constantly driving into lava flows.

(also you guys should know that all I have to do is type the first few letters of your urls and autocorrect has figured out what I want to say)

I’M ON MOBILE AND THESE TOOK FOREVER TO ANSWER SO I’M NOT GOING TO TAG ANYONE BUT I WANTED TO ANSWER THE QUESTIONS ANYWAY

greywardenmage’so questions

1. Favorite Disney Song?
Beauty and the Beast for sentimental reasons, and then pretty much all the rest of them because I DON’T KNOW I CAN’T DECIDE

2. Favorite Snack type food?
Snyders of Hanover sourdough pretzels (this might be because I haven’t been able to have them or any kind of pretzels for about a month)

3. Fictional character you most identify with?
Oh dear, um… maybe (and this is gonna be kind of obscure) Neal from the Protector of the Small quartet by Tamora Pierce, partially because he’s sarcastic but mostly because he’s extremely stubborn and argumentative and often doesn’t know when to shut up/when to drop it and move on

4. What language would you like to learn? Why?
Greek cause most of my family’s Greek and I’m embarrassed that I only know a little bit

5. If you were stranded on desert island, where would you like this island to be?
In fresh water with lots of fish, in a place with lots of other little islands nearby during a time when people are fond of exploring random islands

6. What planet would you like to visit (ignoring that visiting most of them would kill you)?
One of the ones orbiting a nearby star, particularly one of those planets that seem like it could possibly sustain life OR if there’s a planet orbiting one of the stars of Alpha Centauri then that one though I think it’s been generally decide that there isn’t. If it has to be this solar system then Mars.

7. Favorite Fan Fiction?
Oh… um… I don’t really read fan fiction unless a friend asks me for editing purposes (and I’ve never read anything close to finished so). Do the Lizzie Bennett Diaries count for this question? Because I really liked those and now that I’ve got around to actually reading Pride and Prejudice I want to rewatch them

8. Tell us one thing you like about yourself!
I’M BAD AT THESE TYPES OF QUESTIONS. OK um. After hanging out with some of my English/Scottish friends the other day I have a new appreciation for the fact that I don’t burn easily (yay Mediterranean genes!)

9. Tell us about one time you stayed up to late without realizing it.
THE OTHER NIGHT WHEN I STAYED UP UNTIL 2:30 AM KNOWING FULL WELL THAT I HAD TO GET UP AT FIVE TO CATCH A TRAIN WHY DO I ALWAYS DO THIS ON DAYS WHEN I ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO BE UP EARLY

10. If you could have anything right now, what would it be?
Snyders of Hanover sourdough pretzels

pigeonsandgunpowder’s questions

1.) Last documentary you watched, and if you liked it:
It’s been forever since I’ve watched a documentary I don’t even remember the last one I watched

2.) Celebrity you’d like to have lunch with, and why:
Honestly I think I’d be too nervous to have lunch with any celebrity that I’d like to have lunch with? Like, meeting someone is one thing, but actually sitting at the same table with someone for an extended period of time with someone who I don’t know very well and also admire would be uncomfortable— they’d have to be a bunch of people there, I think

3.) Next book on your reading list:
The Rabbit Back Literature Society by Pasi Ilmari Jääskeläinen

4.) What’s the next movie you’re really excited about?
Honestly I’m kind of excited for guardians of the galaxy it looks fun

5.) Favorite song at the moment:
I’ve listened to Kingdom Dance from the Tangled soundtrack about twenty times in the past few days so we’re gonna go with that

6.) If you could master a single dish (make it perfectly all the time and always have the ingredients on hand), what would it be?
Either my Yiayia’s avgolemono soup OR crab-stuffed soft pretzel wraps the way this little place on the boardwalk in Ocean City (MD not NJ) makes them

7.) Desktop wallpaper right now:
Still Leonard Church though my desktop is over 3000 miles away so I can’t exactly show you

8.) Favorite youtube video:
OH GOOD LORD I DON’T KNOW. The ones that make me laugh. There are a lot of those.

9.) Favorite coffee-drink:
As in a drink that has coffee in it? Frappuccino/frappé I suppose

10.) Tell me about your favorite OTP
The Normandy/Space (I don’t really have OTPs)

But I liked them all… (but on a serious level, story wise I liked DAO & DA2 the best, gameplay I preferred DA2 & DAI, and for characters & character development I love all of them)

It’s not too weird for people to like them all, or like certain games for certain reasons! I also find that people either really like all of the games, or they really dislike DAI or DA2, for whatever reason. (like, there is some serious hatred of these games)

pigeonsandgunpowder replied to your posti’m going around and reading people’s response to…

Maybe it has something to do with the way the stories are told, like the actual narrative? That’s the big one for me, and a few others I know share my dislike of 2.

I’ve been pretty up unfront with my dislike of DA2 but it took me a long time to figure out why. And I think it does have to do with the stories of the game – part of it is i felt they were rushed and told poorly or for shock value. But I also found myself not really caring about the companions by the end of the game. And that’s not necessarily because they’re poorly written characters, they just didn’t speak to me like companions in DAO and DAI did.

pigeonsandgunpowder replied to your post: Medical Side of Tumblr: What are commo…

it can develop later on, but generally as a result of other things (it’s not really spontaneous). Asthma is chest tightening, you can’t breathe, it’s often triggered by heavy exercise, allergies, things like that.

taken my husband into the ER several times for asthma, it usually doesn’t get better on it’s own, and he states that it feels a lot like an anxiety attack looks (he doesn’t have anxiety, but I have), without other stuff. Just an inability to breathe.

Thank you for the response *hugs*

I’ve been wondering because lately I’ve been having a hard time breathing and then I also caught a respiratory infection from a friend. Then I have severe allergies and was around a lot of second hand smoke in Japan. When I would exercise I had to stop because I couldn’t breathe and it sucked. The humidity seemed to make it harder to breathe over there too and coming back here the high altitude has been whooping my ass.

It hasn’t just been the respiratory infection that I noticed it, I noticed a lot for the last few months, but didn’t know what it was/what to do.

A few of my friends with asthma suggested I might have it and should go to a doctor, which I am here soon, but I just wanted more opinions and insight as well. I dunno, thank you again though.
