DIY: Elbow Patches

Elbow patches aren’t just for your grandpa—they’re a great way to add some fun and sophistication to everyday looks. This DIY/refashion took only about 15 minutes, start to finish!

You’ll Need:

  • A basic cardigan
  • Felt in your desired color (craft kind is fine, wool if you’re fancy)
  • Scissors
  • Needle, thread, and straight pins

Start out by putting on your cardigan and marking where your elbows are (I used chalk because my sweater is dark brown).

Next freehand-cut two oval shapes out of your felt. Pin the felt ovals over the mark you created on the elbows, and start stitching! Use a basic running stitch if sewing by hand. If you’re looking for durability, machine sewing is your best bet.

Admire your fabulous results and go yell at the young whippersnappers playing in your yard.

Quick Fix: It’s not easy being green

Admit it, you like your fun rings on a budget. We all do! The only downside is the scary green ring that appears on our ring-wearing fingers and reminds us that what we’re wearing might not be the real deal. The worst.

The fix: Keep this issue at bay by simply painting the inside of your rings with clear nail polish. Fixed in five minutes or less!
