Best way to get started with spirit work: Talk to plants (No I’m serious. Talk to them.)
So I talk a bit about my spirit companions all too often and to be honest, it’s still a very new experience to me and I’m still learning a lot about it. I’m also learning how to travel astraly (which I’m getting a little better but still need a lot of practice). And I’m sure some of you have been wanting to get into it and don’t know how. But I’m about to share with you the best thing I’ve learned about trying to communicate with spirits:
Learn to communicate with plants first.
And here’s why I say this:
Imagine a hedge that separates you the physical plane from the astral plane. And to be able to get to the astral plane and talk to the spirits and astral beings on the other side, you have to get on the other side of that hedge. How do you do that? You can’t cut down the hedge; and you can’t walk right through it. You could probably find a way to go over it but that takes a lot of work. So what’s the easiest way to get there?
By befriending the hedge. And how do you befriend the hedge? By becoming a friend to all plant life.
Plants have a presence in both the physical and astral realm. You see a tree here, you’ll see a dryad in the astral realm. You see flowers, you’ll see their spirits. All plant life, big and small, make up the hedge. They border on the physical and spirit worlds and are the gatekeepers. They let those who pass who they feel are worthy. If you befriend them, they’ll open a path and help you. They’ll guide you and teach you how to work in both existences.
And to be honest, they have a lot to say if you just listen to them. The tall trees have been around a long time; they have stories to tell. The flowers love when you notice their beauty. The grass will teach you things from their perspective. Just get in touch with nature!
Befriend the animals too. They coexist with them and they coexist with you (when we’re not hurting them with our destructive human nature). The plants look after them, and if they see that you care for all forms of life, they’ll start to see you as a friend.
If you can learn how to talk and listen to the plants, then you’ll learn how to talk and listen to spirits. After all, in order to befriend the dead, you have to befriend life; no matter what shape or form it comes in. Even if you’re not a green witch, this will really come in handy.

Each one of us has four personal numbers that carry a specific vibration. They are the Life Lesson Number, the Soul Number, the Outer Personality Number, and the Path of Destiny Number. In this post, we’ll be focusing on the Life Lesson number.
The Life Lesson Number represents lessons one must learn in this lifetime and is most significant to career choices. It is derived from your full birthdate.
Though this post will be focused on calculating one’s number using the numbers in your birthday, I’m including information on how to calculate the numeric vibration of letters as well, because it’s intrinsically related.
To work with the value of letters beyond “I”, which is 9, we reduce the value to a single digit. For example, “O” is 15, so we reduce the number by adding the first digit to the second: 1+5=6. The number 15 is then written as 15/6. The letter “T” is 20. We reduce the 20 by adding the first digit to the second: 2+0=2. The number 20 is then written as 20/2.
Number Values of the Alphabet
A 1 J 10/1 S 19/1 B 2 K 11/2 T 20/2 C 3 L 12/3 U 21/3 D 4 M 13/4 V 22/4 E 5 N 14/5 W 23/5 F 6 O 15/6 X 24/6 G 7 P 16/7 Y 25/7 H 8 Q 17/8 Z 26/8 I 9 R 18/9
We can reduce any word to a numeric vibration by using the above table. Before we move on to calculating one’s Life Lesson number, lets experiment with a few words:
3 + 9 + 6 + 5 = 23/5 C R O W
We reduce 23 by adding 2+3=5, which is written 23/5
5 + 9 + 2 + 3 + 8 = 21/3 W I T C H
We reduce 21 by adding 2+1=3, which is written 21/3
3 + 9 + 7 + 8 + 2 = 29/11 L I G H T
We reduce 29 by adding 2+9=11, which is written 29/11
There are four double digits which generally are not reduced. These are referred to as master numbers. Master numbers offer more opportunity for expression, yet demand more effort from the person or thing in question. The master numbers are 11, 22, 33, and 44. Whenever you arrive at one of these numbers in your calculations; retain the master value.
Because the word “light” vibrates to master number 11, it’s written as 29/11 instead of 29/2, which would be the case if reduced entirely. The number 2 is still acknowledged as the base number as the word will fluctuate between the vibrations of 2 and 11.
An individual will fluctuate between any master number and its base digit because the vibration of the master number is too intense to live under continuously. Living under the vibration of one’s base number offers respite while preparing to work with the master number vibration again.
Calculating Your Life Lesson Number
To calculate your Life Lesson Number, add all the digits of your birthdate together and reduce the sum. Here is an example of how someone with the birthdate of 24 October 1948 would calculate their Life Lesson Number:
Since the reduced sum of their birthday is a master number, the sum is not reduced further.
Now that you know how to calculate your Life Lesson Number, read on to see the description of each numeric vibration. All number descriptions come directly from Numerology and The Divine Triangle (1979) by Faith and Dusty Bunker, the reference material for this post.

Service in the field of medicine an healing could also attract you. Possibly, you would choose the law as a way to protect others through justice. Since the 33 consciousness is almost beyond that of humanity, a place within ministry or priesthood could lead you to the realm of your dreams as world savior. You may be required to sacrifice your own desires for the need of others in order to fulfill your Life Lesson vibration.
44: This number stands for strength and complete mental control over your life while on earth. I think what bothers me when discussing earth signs and houses (2, 6, 10) is that while I’m aware that earth rules the material and physical plane, that’s all they’re reduced to be, it seems. It’s so capitalistic, how they’re reduced to that. That’s not all that matters about earth signs. That’s why you get a bunch of people complaining about how “boring” earth signs are, because astrologers both beginner and advanced have a fundamental misconception about the domain of earth.
Where Cancer is the private sphere and responsibility to one’s home, Capricorn is the public sphere and responsibility to the public. Where Scorpio is death and transformation, Taurus is life and growth. Where Pisces is self-sacrifice for the greater whole, Virgo is self-sacrifice in a one on one context. The earth signs extend beyond possessions, jobs, careers, and money. They do rule these things, it’s true, but so many astrologers reduce their domain to just these things.
Earth is how we make ourselves comfortable, how we come into being our best self, what we value, what we surround ourself with. Earth is all about growth for better or for worse. Unlike the rapid and dramatic changes the water sign counterparts of earth signs call for, earth signs demand a slow grind. Earth signs and houses hold the keys to how we gain wisdom.
Capricorn reminds us that you can’t just make one huge sweeping change and call it a day, that you need to work and practice at change to cement it. Virgo helps us to become less selfish by reminding us, after the lessons Leo teaches us, that the world is not just about us but others. Taurus teaches us to be grateful and to value the things surrounding us, that we can slow down and enjoy life, that nothing is a race. Earth signs teach us to keep our ego in check, always coming after fire signs to provide some grounding, a reality check.
We’re always seeking some sort of new enlightenment. Earth signs aren’t overtly about enlightenment but that is what you’ll gain with the dedication that they teach us in life.
An Orisha is a spirit that reflects one of the manifestations of God. Being four hundred and one of them in total, each playing a role within the Yoruba pantheon, twelve of them can be equated to the twelve signs of the Zodiac along with their respective houses. The following is a brief summary of each Zodiac House along with the Orisha that is associated with it.
The first house of the Zodiac is the home of the Ascendant, and symbolises the acting self and how your personality appears to others. The ruling planet of this house is Mars, which is also the Roman God of war, making Ogun the warrior god the Orisha equivalent. Like Aries, Ogun possesses assertive and aggressive characteristics, and is the patron deity of soldiers, police officers, surgeons, railroad workers, welders, body builders, or anyone employed to work with iron and steel. Like the blacksmith who molds his creations to perfection, the first house deals with molding the inner and outward Self and realizing your highest potential.
Taurus is the ruling sign of the second house, which is said to be the house of possessions. This should not only be understood as material possessions but also as traits and characteristics that we value about ourselves. The ruling planet Venus is also the Roman goddess of love, whose Orisha equivalent is Oshun. Oshun is the goddess of fresh water (as opposed to the salty, ocean waters of the goddess Yemoja), sensuality, prosperity, love, and fertility. Oshun is presented as a beautiful young woman who is widely loved for providing protection and needs for the poor and healing the sick.
The third house is ruled by the cosmic twins Ibeji, the Orisha equivalent of Gemini. This house deals with communication and the way you think and operate mentally. An emphasis is put on siblings within this house which is properly represented by the twins, along with short journeys and writings. Ibeji also represents duality and balance; the yin and the yang found within all life. Though presented as twins, Ibeji is actually one Orisha. To the Yoruba people, twins are considered sacred and are said to be one soul inhabiting two bodies, linked together by destiny for life.
The fourth house of the Zodiac is ruled by Cancer and deals with issues surrounding the home life. Cancer is known for being maternal, protective, nurturing, and instinctive, qualities shared by the Orisha Yemoja, the goddess of the ocean and mother of all the Orisha. She is the patron spirit of women, especially pregnant women, whose name is a contraction of the Yoruba words “Yeye omo eja” which means “Mother whose children are like fish”, representing the vastness of her motherhood. Her ebb and flow of the tides of the ocean are a result of the moon which is the ruling “planet” of the fourth house.
The fifth house of the Zodiac is the house of creativity and pleasure, ruled by the sign Leo. This house deals with gaining pleasure through acts of creation, artistically and even procreation i.e. the creation of offspring. The Sun, the ruling “planet” of the fifth house, is a symbol of creative energy, illumination, and knowledge, all of which the Orisha of wisdom, knowledge, and divination Orunmila reflects. It is Orunmila’s duty to record the destiny of individuals at the moment the breath of life is given to them by Yoruba creator Olodumare, who creates because it brings Them pleasure to do so.
The Orisha Eshu is the ruler of the sixth house, the equivalent to the sign Virgo. Health, work, and service are central to the sixth house, which is ruled by the planet Mercury, the messenger of the gods within the Roman pantheon. Eshu is the Orisha that stands at the crossroads between the physical world and the spirit world, whose duty is to be the intermediary between man and the Orisha. Therefore, when one wishes to call upon the Orisha, he or she first gets permission from Eshu. This is symbolic of clearing and preparing the mind to receive whatever message the Orisha have for you.
Oba is the Orisha of marriage and personal transformation, making her fit to be the ruler of the seventh house, the house of partnership. Oba was the first wife of Shango who tended to his castle and everything that he requested, making her the ideal wife before being tricked by her sister Oya into trying to ensnare Shango with witchcraft. After this betrayal she fled to the cemetery in which she went through a transformational journey into her true power. This house is about expediating our life’s purpose through partnerships, whether that partnership be marriage, business relations, contracts, and/or treaties. Through these partnerships we learn a great deal about ourselves, transforming and enhancing our lives, making them fuller and bringing us balance on the scales of Libra.
Oya, the goddess of winds and storms, is the equivalent to Scorpio and is the ruler of the eighth house which is the house of transformation, regeneration, death, sex, and rebirth. She is the powerful force in nature that can change the face of the Earth, embodying the tornadoes and twisters that uproot trees and houses with her destructive winds. This powerful Orisha is also responsible for carrying the spirits of the newly departed to the spirit world.
The ninth house is the house of philosophy and is ruled by the philosopher Sagittarius and the planet Jupiter, the king of the gods within the Roman pantheon. Obatala, the father of all the Orisha, would therefore be the Orisha ruler of this house. Obatala is said to be the Orisha of purity and was sent by the Supreme Being Olodumare at the beginning of time to form the Earth along with construct the bodies of humans. Obatala completed his construction of the bodies he created by adding heads to them, therefore becoming known as the owner of heads. The head is symbolic of intelligence, higher education, and deeper understanding, all which the ninth house represents.
The tenth house is the house of public life and social status, being ruled by Capricorn and the planet Saturn. The aspects within this house deal with how you manifest your individual role within society and your work place, along with the energies and challenges you’ll face meeting your career goals. The Yoruba associate the planet Saturn with Babalú-Ayé, the Orisha of disease and healing. Also known as the “Wrath of the supreme god”, Babalú-Ayé’s job is to punish individuals for their transgressions, but also to heal epidemics like small pox.
The house of friends and membership, the eleventh house of the Zodiac is ruled by the planet Uranus and the sign Aquarius. Aquarius is associated with rapid social change, upheaval, and rebellion, traits that all reflect Shango, the warrior Orisha of thunder, lightning, and fire. Once a living king on Earth, Shango is known for working miracles after his death, elevating him to the status of Orisha. Shango is also the brother of Babalú-Ayé, the Orisha ruler of the tenth house. The work in society represented within the tenth house is expressed through the individual in the activities associated with the eleventh house, the planets and energies indicating how group associations and friendships will operate in your life.
The twelfth house of the Zodiac is ruled by Pisces whose Orisha equivalent is Olokun, the god of the ocean floor. This house is associated with self undoing and confinement, which is reflected in Olokun being chained to the ocean floor by seven chains. As this house deals with the unconscious and things beyond the physical plane, Olokun’s aspects are expressed within the astral, the subconscious, and altered states of consciousness that is experienced during meditation, initiation, and spirit possession. Deep and mysterious is this house of the Zodiac, just like the bottom of the ocean; an old Yoruba proverb says that nobody knows what lies on the ocean floor. Olokun is said to be the owner of the Mysteries, and sparks within our being the genius that activates our super subconscious.
Astral projection is a spiritual, almost trance-like, state of meditation where you guide your astral body (sort of in between your physical body and your spiritual self) lifts out of your physical body. It allows you to travel through space and time, see spirits, meet up with other projectors, and even enter into people’s dreams to contact them.
It can also be dangerous if you don’t ask your guide to help protect you, or you don’t shield yourself. Here is a post I’ve made on shielding.
Below is one possible and usually effective way to projecting. It takes practice, like all meditation, so just keep trying if it doesn’t work! Or intuitively modify the method.
Choose the time best for you: Usually the morning or after a nap is the most effective, because you can wake up your mind, but your body has less sensation and is therefore easier to leave. This is something that will be different for everyone, so figure out what works for you!
Lie down in a quiet space: Make sure no one with interrupt you (such interruption will ground you right back to the physical plane). Darken the room so your eyes aren’t distracted with bright lights. Be relaxed and comfortable, trying to minimize physical sensation. Also, have a blanket over yourself so you don’t get cold. Even on a warm day this might be needed.
Shield yourself: The link is above in the description on how to. I would ward your astral body and physical body with a white light, perhaps using the blanket and imagining that it is protecting your body with light. Worst case scenario would be for a negative spirit to use your body when you leave it to project. Also ask your guide(s), even if you don’t know their names, to protect you with pure intentions and from all negativity.
Relax your body: Start by focusing on your breathing, then move through your muscle groups and imagine each place of tension disappearing. Sometime a healing light, and imagining that, will help. You can work up or down on your body. Just relax as best you know how. Breathe away any thoughts too. Notice them, then just let them go with an exhale. A few minutes of this will clear your mind. But, it is natural for some thoughts to stay, and that’s okay! It won’t stop you from projecting, it just means that you’re human.
Let your mind wander and focus on a single points in your body: A small point, like your hand, heart, a toe, etc. Focus on this one point and let the rest of your body naturally fall into a sleep like state.
Start to visualize your body and feel it’s presence: It’s possible to see or imagine yourself looking different than your physical self at this point. Just accept what you feel and look like.
Flex your body parts mentally: This means that you don’t move any part of your body, but you image it moving until you can feel it vividly. This is your astral body moving. Slowly “move” more parts of your body.
Enter your resonation/vibrational state: All spirits, atoms, particles, energies, etc vibrate with certain frequencies. Start to pay attention to your astral self and you’ll probably, by this point, be feeling a subtle vibration. Let it build until it’s incredibly powerful. If you don’t feel the vibration yet, then continue the above step until you do. Audio and visual hallucinations are common here, like extremely loud sounds or patterns that your eyes are seeing. These aren’t harmful in any way. The most difficult part of the vibration is combating fear. It is overwhelming, especially the first time, because you are transcending the physical plane. Just relax into it and let it flow over you. It will not harm you.
Leave your body: Use your mind to lift out of your body, using the vibration to increase the ability to do so. Anyone can do this, but you need to trust yourself. Don’t allow yourself to doubt your ability, just have faith even for a few moments that you can leave your body, visualize it, then look back at your physical body once you are out of it. You can practice by just lifting a leg or arm out of your body first. Don’t expect a full projection on your first try! Just practice what it feels like until you understand your own astral self and how to have it leave your body, even if just in parts.
Explore: Be careful and take a guide with you. You can go anywhere now, besides some “restricted sections” (like “Heaven,” other people’s Akashic records, the Tree of Life, etc). If you ever feel threatened then just follow a silver cord back to your body. It should be connected to you around stomach. It is always there as soon as you focus on it. You can access your Akashic records, meet up with spirits or other projectors, go back in time (like literally see historical or future events), or interact in a plane you design for yourself, like a sanctum or astral altar.
Return to your body: Just imagine yourself going back and you will. You can also let the silver cord pull you or your guides guide you back into your body. If you see your physical self, then just align yourself and fall back into your body. Then slowly wiggle toes and fingers until sensation comes back. Before I begin my list, I want everyone to know it is possible to practice and fine tune all of these abilities. Every person has the ability to open their third eye, aka decalcify the pineal gland, which then can help open up your 6th sense as long as you practice at it.
Aries - Clairvoyant: This type of psychic ability is best suited to Aries, who has to see it to believe it. Feeling things and communication isn’t normally your forte, but when you can physically see something, it is much easier for you to work with. Auror reading falls under this category, almost anything that you can see falls under this category.
Taurus - Psychometrist:Reading information contained in the energy of objects would best be suited to Taurus, who rules over the physical plane and material objects. Not to mention your affinity for material possessions and pretty objects makes you more inclined to be able to sense and read information contained inside of objects. These are the type of psychics that are brought into the evidence room
Gemini - Psychographer:This is the practice where you translate non-physical consciousness through “psychic writing”. This is where you tune out and just write on an unconscious level while tapping into otherworldly energies and just write what ever comes to your hand. And since Gemini rules the house of writing, this would be the more natural ability for you to develop.
Cancer - Clairsensitive:This ability is all about feeling. It is sometimes confused with intuition, which is slightly different on a few levels. Cancers are deeply sensitive and connected to their feelings, so it is only natural that you have the ability to feel surrounding energies and thing on a non-physical conscious plane.
Leo - Precognition:This is the ability to read all the possibilities of the future, and Leos have such a great imagination and desire for a positive future, that you often find yourself imagining what your own future would be like. And this ability can be translated to other people if you learn to use your imagination to sense out what possibilities someone has in their future. Though future readings are never easy and always have different possibilities, because nothing is ever set in stone and human beings have the gift of free will.
Virgo - Psychic Surgeon:There is no one better for this type of job than the ruler of health and service. When you see someone in pain, it is your instinct and natural desire to do anything you need to do to help them. And as a psychic surgeon you can operate intraphysically on non-physical trauma.
Libra - Telepath:This is the ability to read information mind to mind, and as a Libra with wonderful social grace that comes from your ability to connect with people and form partnerships, this seems like the best option for you.
Scorpio - Lucid Dreamer:This is the ability to consciously know that you are dreaming and to access the dream world, Dream Controlis also another step into this world, and what better ability for Scorpio to master than the ability to control your dreams, since you get an odd satisfaction from having power and control.
Sagittarius - Astral Traveler:Sagittarius rules the house of Travel and exploration, and when it comes to astral projection no one is more fearless and eager than you are to leave your physical body and traverse all physical and nonphysical planes.
Capricorn - Retrocognition:The ability to look into past lives is a very sought after gift that many people seek readers out for to explain parts of their personality or fears that are unexplainable. And I think Capricorn would do well with this ability with an affinity for being sought after for advice and a connection to the past.
Aquarius - Psychophoner:This ability allows a nonphysical consciousness to speak through you, and I think this would go well with Aquarius who rules communication on a much larger scale than either Gemini or Libra. Aquarius rules over the tarot card “The Star” because she symbolizes the communication and transferring information from the heavens to the earth.
Pisces - Intuitive:This is an intimate and clear knowledge about a situation, and it is more based off of instinct and immediate reactions and feelings to something. It is the immediate and instinctive part that separates this from clairsensitive, and I think pisces works well with this ability because they are so sensitive and rule over the house of mystics and self undoing.
(Apologies, it’s rather late as I’m writing on this and I have no wifi and I’ve gone past my data limit. I won’t be able to link large resources and such at this moment, and the format could definitely be better. And I could go much more indepth but for the current moment this is what I have on tumblr mobile.)
Okay, this is the most common and I understand repetitive lesson. Protect yourself! Protect your home and your spirit friends! Protect and ward!
There are physical wards where the a physical spell or object is set up as the ward. Like maybe you have a crystal grid that you set up to protect your home. That would be an example of physical protection!
There are astral wards where you simply set them up in the astral (the other plane where spirits generally reside or originate from, not everyone but trying to make a general point on clarifying the difference the physical plane from the astral plane). Like you can build a giant water bubble to protect and enclose yourself!
There are great recipes for wards and protection spells that can work for you, but you don’t need to follow anyone’s recipe to make a ward. You can make one a multitude of ways. Sure, yours doesn’t follow a $25 ingredient list, but that doesn’t make it inherently any less valuable or effective! If you don’t care and make it, it’ll probably be less effective than one of strong intent, of course.
Personally I rely on astral wards more than physical wards, but that’s a personal preference. Wards I make myself are also more efficient than the ones I try to copy from others by directions but personal differences. When I say I made them, I thought about the concept of spicy peppers and I designed three wards off that alone, so intent and direction is what you really need to make wards.
If you prefer following someone else’s recipe to help, there is absolutely no harm in that! Go for it! But don’t feel like you can and have to rely only on the recipes you find on tumblr!
Note: Even if you do not have a companion, you still need wards. I would most definitely recommend it. Even if you have no companion to protect, you should still ward and protect yourself and your space!
Protect yourself and your home. Remember to take care of yourself.
You can set up personal wards that protect the person or being you set them up around like a personal bodyguard or protection. Or you can set it up for an object, place or setting. Like for your space! And you should protect yourself. I’m nagging you for your own safety.
Protect yourself from malicious beings who straight up just wanna fight you, others who might sneak in and just leech off, or those who might decieve you to get in and then harm you. Not every spirit has malicious intent or purpose, and most of them haven’t in my experience, but you should be safe and protect yourself the best you can from those occasions where bad news is knocking on your door.
When you have companions or spirit family, you’ll have more reasons to practice warding and have more wards, but that should not stop you from learning warding and being well protected yourself before then!
You can have wards that serve to protect you from attacks, and others to keep out liars. But you determine your wards, not me.
The thing is, the more the merrier, and the more variety the better! Cover all your bases. Maybe a water ward might keep out more fire-based spirits but water spirits might have an immunity. Or if you had 10+ wards with the same weakness and a malicious spirit finds out how to get past one, they get past all of them since they have the key for the same 10 doors.
You should regularly keep them running, and also do a bigger maintenance. But remember than constant smaller checkups are important too. Do small checkups often, and a big checkup regularly. I do small checkups daily, and weekly big maintenance because it’s important and better safe than well, not safe.
I may have been too long-winded in the protection section and this section is gonna be lacking in comparison but it’s still needed.
You should have a basis in energy work. Learn how to sense energy, like presences, be able to read them, maybe not in a “I can give you a 5 page summary about this person about their energy” but I can tell this spirit has malicious or unsafe intent towards me so I should step away and turn them away. And telling them apart.
Like a spirit comes home, and you should practice how to tell the difference between Sam the kitten spirit and Feraligator the chihuahua spirit. Although you don’t need to be a master of energy work to start in spirit work, but you should have basics or a solid starting ground.
You can completely struggle with this, while going into spirit work but be willing to keep trying. It’s important and a helpful fundamental and can lead into spirit work, but you can definitely go into spirit work without being an expert energy worker or an energy healer.
Without a doubt, you’re gonna want to have a conversation or communicate with spirits in spirit work.
I’m gonna be honest, you will not have 100% clarity when you begin. Minus a few rare exceptions of people. But ignoring those exceptions and miracles, be prepared for the actuality of communication.
You’ll start out with fragmented conversation. You’ll depend and start with divination, like pendulums, dice, and tarot cards to talk.
The start of the road begins with asking the spirits yes or no questions, or whatever maybe the pendulum board or your tools are limited to. Or you’ll use tarot, which is less yes/no but it’s still not a whole conversation like you would expect between two people. But you’ll have to build up and grow from there. You’ll practice and keep going.
Beyond your tools, the next tier to practice is telepathy and astral hearing.
I don’t think they are exactly the same, but you may disagree. I understand and respect that. Telepathy is direct communication through your minds with thoughts (this is off the top of the mind and I am typing this in one sitting. I will check and correct myself, and edit it if I am wrong, don’t worry).
Some spirits only communicate with scattered words, images and emotions. That just may be their preference and method of communication in telepathy, regardless of how well you can hear them.
Others may be able to talk in complete conversations like you’d expect from another human. But they may simplify what they’re saying to you so that you understand, or cooperate other ways because they understand you can’t catch everything they say.
For me, I think astral hearing is different where they speak in the astral out loud and everyone can hear it. But if your hearing is bad, you might not catch it, and that way, I don’t consider it the same as telepathy where they would just send their thoughts straight to your mind. You can improve your astral senses with effort, trying, and exercise.
Either way, you will practice and grow. Keep going, I believe in you.
Even when you get to that point where you can regularly hear astral conversations and use telepathy, you should still remember to keep your tools. They’ll help you double check yourself, and get you through lulls where it’ll get even harder so your senses will be limited.
INTERACTION WITH SPIRITS
There are two ways you can find and meet new spirits or strangers. Either you can meet your local spirits or go out into the astral but that’s not a beginner concept. However if you do wanna hear about that more, I’ll discuss that by request.
Okay, let’s talk about local spirits. Meeting and communicating with local spirits is the best way to practice before a committment like companionship or running into the astral blindly.
Nature spirits tend to be much kinder and patient, especially considering you’ll take time to practice and learn. The easiest spirits to bear with you for practice are rock/crystal spirits and your own garden and plant spirits.
Although there are definitely a few that aren’t friendly at all, it’s safer than running into the astral. And as far as I know, most people can go outside much more easily and already know how, over learning from scratch how to astral project and travel and being prepared for everything it has to offer (dangers and otherwise).
Note: You do not need to know how to astral travel or project to work with spirits, and you can hang out with spirits even if you can’t travel all the way to their apartment in the astral. You can chill and watch Netflix in your room together even if you can’t travel.
EVEN AFTER YOU GROW
You’re gonna keep warding and learning protection spells. When I became a mod, I learned that I had to upgrade and add MORE. You’ll need them, you’ll want them, and you’ll appreciate them. Even the failures will become a start to building better and more efficient wards. So keep going. We all nag about protection, but we’re absolutely serious.
You’re gonna keep learning and you’ll have a different path from others. You will hit roadblocks and communication will get harder some days, whether it’s from a lull, or low spoons or anything.
Take a step sideways, yeah, but that’s movement. And it won’t stop you from progress. The worst thing is to not practice honestly and be apathetic.
(It’s honestly quite late here, I’m physically tired and a little sick, so sorry if anything got messy or confusing. If you have anything you want me to talk on, clarify or discuss further, shoot us an ask.)
Disclaimer: I haven’t stopped learning, so there’s much more you can read on, and more others can offer you on the subject, so never be afraid to ask others for help and advice too. And terms may slightly differ from being to being, so there’s also that to account for, and other people may have different answers for you too! So keep on adventuring and gathering knowledge.
Alright, so, I’ve talked a bit about how clairvoyance isn’t everything in the astral, and I’ve tried to explain to numerous beginners why they need to drop their “gold standard expectations.” Still, I can’t help but feel I’m not getting through to some of you behind that iron wall of self-doubt.
I’d like to drive my point home once and for all with a visual reference, which is something I’ve never personally encountered (not saying it doesn’t exist out there). Let me give a quick disclaimer that this is based on my personal experience. I’m pretty confident in putting it out there due to the fact that it matches up with what others describe, but don’t panic if this doesn’t ring true for you in some fashion. As a final note, keep in mind that this post is aimed at aspiring astral travellers who are building their skill from the ground up (in other words, folks who weren’t born with their third eye wide open).
The Gold Standard (AKA “What You’re Expecting”)
Behold, the “HD 1800p Clairvoyance” most beginners dream of, aspire to, and hate themselves for not achieving after a stubborn week of practice. Please, please stop that. Listen to me: what you see above is a level of clarity that isn’t even achievable on the physical plane for some people. Think about that. Just sit down and think about that.
Can you see the photo above with natural 20/20 vision? If you said yes, don’t take that for granted, ‘cause that’s a biological privilege. Even more important, if you said yes, ask yourself this: would your experience on this plane be any less real or important if you couldn’t see perfectly (or at all)? Would you doubt the reality of your experiences here? I’m going to assume you just said “no.” Great! Time to hammer this nail a little deeper.
The Common Reality (AKA “What You’re Doubting”)
Are you squinting? I sure am. Kind of frustrating, isn’t it? But it is what it is. Chances are, if you’re just starting out, you’re going to spend a lot of time looking at, well, that. -points above- Know something though? It’s real. If you can’t accept that as your starting point, well… I hate to tell you, but you’re probably going to waste away waiting for a miracle to move you past the years of practice and determination that are required for most folk to sharpen their “second sight.”
That’s about all I have to say on the matter. Remember, “your mileage may vary.” I’m just putting this out there for the sake of those who share my experience. I know a lot of beginners I’ve talked to idolize those of us who seem to astral travel effortlessly. Take this as a friendly reminder: I, for one, was where you are once. I was not born with perfect clairvoyance. I have not achieved “the gold standard.” I depend on ALL my clair senses to have a rich experience on the astral. I did not develop my skills overnight and you shouldn’t expect to either. Chances are? The only thing standing between you and the astral is that big ol’ iron wall of self-doubt. Kick that thing down. Good luck! <3
Dean used to insist on being the big spoon, but trying to maneuver around Castiel’s wings and waking up with a mouthful of feathers grew real old real fast. Eventually he gave in and admitted that being the little spoon, Castiel’s arms around him, wasn’t the worst feeling in the world.
Servitors are artificial spirits that are made by the practitioner, and are used to complete tasks, or goals set by the petitioner to help him or her in their life, or magical practice. Before you jump right into creating a servitor there are things you must plan out beforehand. It’s a lot like building a blueprint. You don’t just start making the house before you have a blueprint. Here are the things you’re going to need to think about before building your very own servitor:
Everything needs a purpose, and it’s your job to pick your purpose for your servitor. A purpose can be anything. You could want your servitor to protect you, or your family. You could want your servitor to help you pass a test. You could have your servitor torture people in their dreams… You know whatever you want. It is important to give your servitor a purpose, because it is dangerous to make a servitor without a purpose. If your servitor does not have a purpose it may go rogue, and we may have a situation like that Jewish story of "The Golem of Prague", who goes on a murderous rampage. Once you have your purpose feel free to move on to the next step.
Now you must create an appearance for your servitor that it will take on the astral, and etheric planes of existence. It is important to keep in mind when making your servitor’s spiritual appearance that the spiritual appearance should reflect the task that they were assigned to complete. If the servitor is for better communication with your peers, then it’s spiritual appearance shouldn’t be a Azathoth looking creature, but maybe perhaps some type of human or anthropomorphic entity. Besides that the you can create any type of spiritual appearance you would like. Male, female, tall, short it’s up to you. You can even say “f*** it, and I’m making this one a shapeshifter”. So have some fun, and do whatever you would like. You also might want to draw a picture, or get some representation of their form once you decide upon it for later steps in the servitor creation process.
This one’s pretty self-explanatory, and again you can pretty much pick whatever you would like. All we’re going to do is think of some personality traits that you would like your servitor to have, like charming, intelligent, funny, friendly, loyal, etc… So this one is pretty easy, and now that I think about it I have no idea what happens if you don’t give them a personality. I guess they turn into Kristen Stewart, or something. Anyway pick out your personality traits that you like, and move on to the next step.
You like to eat, so do servitors. Feeding a servitor is a lot like charging a Sigil. and you can use all the same methods in order to feed a servitor in the same way you use to charge a sigil. You can also set up some methods of feeding for the servitor that the servitor can do on their own behalf. You could tell your servitor to feed on something like sunlight, or crystals that you have lying around. Not setting up feeding methods, or not feeding your servitor will result in it going rogue, or it finding its own food sources which may not always be more preferable.
There are some people that say the servitors lifespan should not be very long, but in my experience this has not been a problem. In my experience servitors only act up once they do not have a purpose anymore, or if acting up is programmed into their nature, or if they are not being fed. Life span is very based on purpose. If you want your servitor to help you pass a test, then its lifespan should only be until after the test then it will return back to the energy of source. If you wanted your servitor to protect your property then you would need a lifespan that you can end at any time. So then you would need a phrase, or ritual to end its life when the time comes. This phrase, or ritual would not have to be elaborate. It’s never happened to me before, but being on a system like that one could in theory make the servitor want to have self preservation. You would be the only thing that could kill it. So if they took you out then they could go on living. I don’t know if it happens, or not, but that’s just a theory. A Servitor Theory! Thanks for watching…. <– (Tell me if you get that joke.) I always tell my servitor if they try to harm me or anyone I care about they will be terminated immediately. That’s a good enough safety net I guess let’s move on to the next step.
Now we need housing to ground the servitor to the physical plane. Housing can be things like a rock, a staff, a doll, something you made out of clay, etc… Servitors by nature do not need housing, but it is better to have a physical representation of them for control, and feeding purposes. Housing can be anything, but I would stay away from certain metals because energy does not flow as good through them as it does other materials. It is also better to have a housing made, or created by you, and your hands. Once you find what housing you would like to use you are ready to go onto the next step.
This one is super simple all you have to do is pick a name for your servitor. Literally can be anything Meaningful, or otherwise. All you have to choose a name, and then you can move on to the next step.
8)Making a Sigil
Now you should make a sigil out of the name of your servitor, or out of the purpose of your servitor. You will use this sigil as a true representation of your servitor. If you do not know how to make a sigil you can always Google it, or you should be able to find it by searching back through my posts.
Once you have your sigil you can draw it, or carve it into your housing for your servitor. This would be recommended, but if you do not want to mark the sigil on the housing you can always put the sigil on a piece of paper, and put it underneath your housing during the “Bringing the servitor to life” step.
9) Bringing the servitor to life
Now we just bring together all the materials that we have gathered thus far into a ritual. First thing you’ll want to do is cleanse the area. This can be done through any cleansing method such as the Lesser banishing ritual, smudging, or clap cleansing. Next you’re going to want to cast a circle or use some other form of protection technique. Then you’re going to want to start charging your housing, and your sigil through any form of charging method. Now you’re going to want to enter a Gnostic state of consciousness where you can strongly in vision the energy that you are manipulating. Close your eyes, and in your mind’s eye begin to mold the energy into the spiritual appearance of your servitor. Strongly visualize every little detail of your servitor’s being. Then breathe life into your servitor by just intending for the energy to be alive and to be conscious. Once you have molded your energy into the spiritual appearance of your servitor, then in your head, or out loud call to the servitor. Tell the servitor it’s name, it’s purpose, it’s personality, it’s feeding methods, and it’s lifespan. More focus, and intention you use to create the servitor more put together the servitor will be. Now your servitor is done, and it is alive. Undo your circle, and before you send out your servitor for the task you want them to complete I usually wait one day, and feed my servitor a couple times. I find when I first create a servitor it is incredibly weak so I gave it one day to become a little bit stronger before it starts its task.
Saturn is a cage and Libra, Aquarius, and Capricorn are stuck in it. Libra is exalted in Saturn while Aquarius and Capricorn are ruled by Saturn. For these three signs, structure can serve as two things. It can either be a place of comfort and familiarity, or a place of suffocating restriction. In this sense, Libra, Capricorn, and Aquarius have to learn how to break themselves free, but at the same time, not trap themselves by creating their own personal cages.
Libra gains freedom from the cage by finding a relationship where they can genuinely express themselves without worrying about social norms and expectations. They’ve seen plenty of social situations to the point where they are skilled at communicating the right words and showing the proper gestures. Social norms and expectations is the cage Libra is trapped in. The struggle that Libra can fall into is creating idealistic expectations in their own relationships to where they can’t be themselves. Libra doesn’t just need relationships and harmony, they need intimate, strong relationships that will free them from stifled self-expression. The driving force for Libra is peace.
Capricorn gains freedom from the cage by deciding to create their own structure through their own successes, rather than what is collectively known as success. They’ve seen plenty of what the world is like to the point where they know the mechanisms of how it works on a tangible, physical plane. The practicality, reality, and physical limits of the world is what restricts Capricorn. However, the struggle Capricorn can fall into is being too stuck in their own practical ways to the point where they restrict themselves when the original intention was to enhance and utilize their skills for the better. Capricorn doesn’t need just success, they need a success that truly utilizes their skills and what they seek from the world. The driving force for Capricorn is ambition.
Aquarius gains freedom from the cage by deciding to revolutionize and deconstruct societal norms that will not only be helpful for themselves, but for everyone else. They’ve seen plenty of how the world changes and stabilizes to the point where they know exactly what changes to make in the world and where. The community and societal resistance to change is what restricts Aquarius. However, the struggle Aquarius can fall into is being too stuck in their own ideas of revolution and change to the point where they impose their own definition of change rather than realizing that change has many different definitions that can help the community. Aquarius doesn’t need just change, they need a change that is not only true for them, but for the community. The driving force for Aquarius is novelty.
