Also known as Beaded Sea Anemone and Adhesive Sea Anemone, Phymanthus pinnulatum is a colonial hexacoral (Anthozoa - Hexacorallia - Actiniaria - Phymanthidae) [1].

They are large solitary polyps which have no skeleton. They have a basal or pedal disc which helps them crawl and dig into place, for some, once in place it is virtually impossible to move [2].

This species is found on coral and rocky reefs attached to the substrate, at depths of 3 to 30m. Widespread in the Central and Western Indo-Pacific areas.
