Something horrible is happening on youtube

I’m going to preface this post with a content warning. This post is about child abuse. The video I’m going to link includes actually video footage of child abuse. It is one of the most upsetting videos I have ever watched. My post includes in depth descriptions of child abuse.

This morning I watched a Youtube video discussing and highlighting what is happening on another Youtube channel. If you have the stomach for it, I’d suggest watching the video because Phillip DeFranco does a much better job of summarizing the situation than I can.

For those of you who can’t watch, I’ll give you a very brief rundown.

The Youtube channel DaddyOfFive is a combination family vlog and prank channel. In a recent video, the parents pull a prank where they pour invisible ink on one of the kid’s floors and then make him think that they believe he poured ink all over the floor. They scream and swear at this little boy, shouting things like “What the fuck did you do?” while the boy cries and cowers, looking genuinely terrified. Even the best child actors could not pull off looking as genuinely devastated as this child does.

As DeFranco highlights in his video, although all the children are pranked, it seems that this one child (Cody) takes the brunt of the cruelty. In many videos he is seen being hit, kicked, pushed, and pinned down by his older siblings. In one video his father pushes him face first into a book case. In one video Cody begs his family to stop, saying that he’s tired of this. In another video his parents scream at him and tell him he’s the only one in the family who can’t “take a joke”.

In response to some of the flak they have been getting, the parents uploaded a video about “Blocking All The Haters”. They goad the children into saying on camera that they aren’t being abused. Now keep in mind, the kids have been told that all the “Cool stuff” they have been getting is because of the Youtube channel. They know that if the pranks stop, the cool stuff goes away. Most of the children chime in that they are not being abused. Cody hardly says anything. The oldest boy says, “At least you aren’t beating us”.

What is happening to Cody is child abuse. It is emotional, psychological and physical abuse. It is torture. And the worst part of it all is that it is monetized. The parents are being paid by advertisers to abuse this child under the guise of “It’s just a prank, bro”.

So what can we do?

First of all, we can report the videos on DaddyOfFive’s channel for containing depictions of child abuse. If you decide to help by doing this, please be sure to flag the specific instances of abuse such as Cody being pushed or the parents screaming vulgarities at the children.

Second of all, we can let the companies advertising on this channel know that we won’t be buying anything from a company that sponsors videos of child abuse.

Finally, if anyone knows this family in person, they can make a report to CPS. Now the family is claiming that they’ve already been investigated and “cleared” by CPS, but that’s not how this works. Repeated reports mean repeated investigations. You do not give up and look the other way when a child is being abused just because CPS failed to act the first time. When my neighbors were abusing their children, I had to call CPS every week for over a month before something was done. Don’t give up.

I spent too long on this not to post it. Old meme but a fun one ♥ I tried to stick to channels I personally like/am subscribed to. I think I got this pretty spot on! The descriptions were quite hard. I do think there’s more to idubbbz than cyberbullying but certainly that side of his channel fits well under lawful evil >:)

Child Abusers on YouTube

Hey, guys. I usually don’t write about this kind of stuff because I never want to falsely accuse someone and destroy their livelihood because of it. However, I can say without a shadow of a doubt that this YouTube channel is abusing their children .

DaddyOFive is a YouTuber who does stuff that I don’t really care about, save for a certain series of prank videos. In these prank videos, he and his wife “prank” their children by destroying their toys, screaming at their face, and being overall emotionally abusive.

Want a taste? Well, here you go:

Wasn’t that lovely? Wanna see more? Go ahead. Go on their YouTube channel and watch some more. What a heartfelt family.

This should not be tolerated in the slightest. I dislike pranks in general, but anytime children are harmed the line is crossed. They must be stopped.

1) Report any video you find that shows the children being encouraged to fight and physically attack each other. Screaming at a child also counts as verbal and emotional abuse and still falls in line with child abuse.

2) Report the entire channel. Here is the link.

3) Seek out where this family is from. Not to attack them, but to call child services. So far, I’ve discovered they live in Maryland. This is their P.O. box address, so they must live close:

   P.O. Box 571
Damascus, MD. 20872

Child services will not act on the family until an address is found. Many have already said that they have attempted to call their local child services, only to be advised to call the FBI (which is NOT some super-secret organization where you have to be a secretary of some governor to be able to contact).

Please, someone else help with this. This is absolutely not okay. These children must be removed from them immediately.

I can’t believe those parents from that daddyofive channel are straight up blaming Phil for all the flack they’re getting???

Nobody is reacting the way they are to them because of what Phil said. He didn’t have to say anything, the clips from their own channel spoke for themselves. All Phil did was see kids potentially in danger and blew the whistle on it. What kind of person would he be to look away from children in need?

They’re claiming the videos are fake, which I don’t buy, but even if they faked the videos, I don’t understand what kind of reaction they expected? How do you put up videos of you yelling at, cussing at, and man handling your kids and not expect someone to try to jump in and defend those kids? It’s already fucking wild to me that it went on so long before someone finally said something.

Fake or not, you sat there and filmed, edited, and posted these videos, not seeing anything wrong with the content, and that’s still a huge fucking problem. It was aggressive, abusive, disturbing, and not in the least bit funny. You can’t just be like “but they’re for entertainment!” and be absolved of everything. The fact that they think that’s entertainment in and of itself is concerning to me.

Whatever, I dunno, I just thinking blaming someone else for being genuinely scared for your children instead of stepping back and being able to understand what you did wrong is a cop out.

Philip DeFranco covered the story and talked about mental health issues in general, but focused on SK as well. The message he has is powerful and important, the story is the first one and it’s about 2 minutes long. Not a long time, but a very important message, especially for those who feel like they have “no right” to be depressed because their lives seem perfect.
Like Philip says, the brain does what it does. You could be anyone and have everything, but if you’re struggling and your brain doesn’t produce enough serotonin, you will get depressed. It’s biology, not social or economic status.
Also, he mentions how having a supportive group around you is amazing, but getting professional help is what can make a huge difference.
Once again, I beg you, if you’re struggling and living in pain, know that you don’t have to live in pain. You can share your burden with someone who’s been trained to handle it and trained to help you handle it.
Best of luck, my friends!

The Hogwarts Houses as Youtube creators

As a note from the writer of this, I made my judgements based on the CONTENT each person or group creates. For example, Jenna Marbles has officially been sorted into Hufflepuff, but I listed her as a Gryffindor as her videos are often at the expense of others though in good humour, she’s arrogant in some videos, selfish and always trying to get a reaction, along with her lack of regard for what her viewers want to see. (See her video where she shaved her eyebrows when we told her not to).
