Flyers Owner and Founder Ed Snider passes away at 83 years old.
Ed Snider, the founder and 50 year owner of the Philadelphia Flyers passed away Monday April 11th after a long battle with cancer. The NHL sends their condolences and praise to one of the most recognized and famous owners in hockey.
Ed’s can do attitude and risk-taker persona established Philadelphia as a premiere sports city. He founded the Flyers in 1966 and took the Spectrum arena out of bankruptcy in 1972. In 1974, the Flyers became the first National Hockey League expansion team to win the Stanley Cup and the first to win consecutive cups after repeating the achievement again in 1975.
The NHL and the hockey world would like to thank Mr. Snider for establishing one of the most storied franchises in the league.
