Berthe Morisot’s family (44) Swan lake Swans all around in these mid ‘80′s series of paintings made at the lake in the Bois de Boulogne, Paris. In the top painting, Milly - a professional model - seems to break some bread for Julie, Berthe’s 5 year old daughter. They’re sitting in a little boat at the edge of the lake. Look at the lack of any detail in their faces. Morisot didn’t bother at all about photographic detail. She was far more interested in colour and light. After all she was one of the most quintessential impressionist painters.
