Shirtless, stunning Peter at Lido Beach, Sarasota, Florida in 1947. UNF! Yes, I think if I coulda been at a filming of any of his movies, I’d pick all of them, duh On An Island With You as one of my top choices.
Yes, I am that much of a nerd to have an interest in people who can do things with both hands. Or maybe I just like the different feature. I mean, I get all giddy over left-handed people, so being able to use both is just as cool, but a bit more cool. Anyway, I thought I’d make a post about it. I’m probably one of the only people who watches Peter movies/shows/footage and makes mental notes of which hand he uses for different things. “Aw, he’s writing with his left hand. Darn, he’s right-handed in this movie. Oh, he golfs with the right. Ah, he’s shooting that rifle left-handed.” Etc.
Peter was born breach with the umbilical cord around his neck and an undeveloped left arm. He was left to Nurse Hemming for the 1st year of his life, who strapped his good arm down occasionally to force him to use his left and as a result he grew up ambidextrous.
He returned to the bungalow to find that the maid had latched the door so he slammed into it, with his right arm smashing through one of the panes and instinctively he pulled it back out which caused the damage. A jagged shard of glass sliced through his upper arm, slit muscles, tendons and severed an artery. He ran 50yards to the lobby where he collapsed. He lost 2 pints of blood.
