So I just saw Spider-Man Homecoming again and I just need to say that it occurred to me that when Tony was Peter’s age he was about to go to MIT? Like, I’m a bit fucked up imagining that Tony went to MIT at 16 to impress his father and he always regretted giving up his adolescence for a man that never gave him what he was looking for, so he tries to tell Peter to stop trying to grow up so fast, just enjoy being a kid, he’s got more than enough time to be an adult. But then Peter almost kills himself trying to impress Tony, to prove that he’s ready, to do the right thing, so Tony thinks “Maybe I was projecting, if the kid wants it that bad let him come here where for God’s sake at least there will be people to keep an eye on him” and then Peter realizes what Tony has been trying to tell him all along and Tony is surprised but so so proud and dammit these feelings hurt gonna go lie down now
“oh mi god, Spider-Man Homecoming is just Iron Man 4, I’m so-“
Shut up. Tony Stark is the one character who actually fits as a supporting character for a Spider-Man movie. And not because the other big Avenger is now a fugitive. Peter’s motivations have always been about guilt. And no other character in the MCU gets that more than Tony Stark. Peter and Tony work as a great teacher/student and father/son dynamic. It’s been set up in Civil War that Tony cares about Peter and he wants to help Peter in his life of crime fighting. And Peter clearly looks up to Tony and wants to impress him however he can. Tony is literally the only character in the MCU that would work as a supporting character for a Spider-Man movie at this point. It also has the added bonus of emphasizing Peter as a small guy in a big world that he isn’t quite ready for.
i’d like to personally give a shoutout to spider-man: homecoming for being one of the first spider-man movies to not base everything around the relationships and romance like cmon peter had the chance to go impress liz at her party as spidey, what did he do?? track down the weapons. he had the chance to go swimming with her, what did he do??? he tracked down a heist. he was liteRALLY AT HOMECOMING WITH HER AND HE LEFT TO GO STOP A CRAZY ASS DILEMMA (sorry i’m trying to avoid spoilers) but i think it really says a lot about his character. although it was made obvious how he felt about her, he still kept true to the hero aspect, prioritized doing the right thing, and i think that was a genius move. good ass job marvel + jon watts
just some random headcanons about Peter growing up on Yondu’s ship
Yondu teaching Peter to fly and pretending Peter messed up when he didn’t (“No NO, you shouldn’t have pressed that button, boy!” “WHAT?!” “It’s the self-destruct one, all Ravager ships got it!” “You should have told me; I didn’t know! What do we do!” *Yondu cracks up* “Just playing with you, take it easy, kid.” “YONDUUUUU!!!!!”)
Yondu taking Peter to all sorts of cool planets and pretending they’re there for practical reasons but he actually just wants Peter to see them cause he thinks he’d like them.
The crew celebrating Peter’s birthday and Kraglin making a birthday cake which comes out really messed up (like, frosting melting and layers sagging and shaky writing) but it means a lot to Peter even though everyone makes fun of it
Peter finding an old jacket of Yondu’s that he really likes but it’s too big so he resolves to work out until his muscles get big enough for it to fit and that’s the real reason he’s so in shape
Yondu teaching Peter to shoot and regretting it when Peter uses some of his dashboard figurines for target practice
But then Peter feels really guilty and buys him some new ones
Yondu always thinking up something to critique when Peter tries to show off to him so Peter always thinks Yondu wasn’t impressed but then one of the crew members mentions how Yondu’s always bragging about him when Peter’s not around
So Peter doesn’t let Yondu hear the end of that for weeks
Storytime with the Ravagers - Peter retelling (and sometimes reenacting) movies from Earth. “So this one’s called Indiana Jones…”
Peter wanting to have some Earth food, only they can’t find all the ingredients and then one day Tulk brings back the coveted ingredient of **PEPPERONI** and they have a pizza party
Peter exaggerating how much parents on Earth buy for their kids because every time he talks about it he seems to find some new piece of tech in his room which Yondu always denies is from him (“Me? Why would I buy you a new blaster? You’re plenty spoiled already, brat.”) but Peter is totally onto him
None of the crew can sing but they all know Peter’s music and whenever he’s in a bad mood someone conveniently starts humming one of his favorite songs and it’s so bad it always makes him laugh.
Peter sneaking a pet onboard and everyone keeps it a secret from Yondu because he has a strict no-animals rule but then one day he comes in to find Kraglin and Peter playing with it and they both totally freeze up (Kraglin starts stuttering an explanation and Peter tries to hide the animal) but Yondu agrees to let them keep it (pretending to be angry about it even though he doesn’t really mind) as long as they clean up after it and don’t let it cause any trouble. He takes care to leave them with the impression that he’s doing them a huge favor and he’s not happy about it.
It was gym class and Ned was currently holding down Peter’s feet as he did sit ups. Ned had recently found out that Peter was Spiderman and was constantly asking his best friend questions about being an Avenger.
“Hey,” Ned piped up. “Can I be your guy in the chair?”
“What?” Peter whispered, not wanting to be too loud.
“You know there is a guy with a headset telling the other guy where to go. Like if you were stuck or lost somewhere, I could tell you where to go because there would be screens and monitors around me. And I could be your guy in the chair,” Ned pleaded.
“Ned, I don’t need a guy in the chair,” Peter insisted.
“Looking good, Parker,” the gym teacher said. Peter paused momentarily before continuing with his sit ups.
“You see for me it would be…f*ck Thor, marry Iron Man, and kill Hulk,” Betty Brant said from the bleachers.
“What about the Spiderman,” Y/N voice piped up, making all her friends on the bleachers look at her.
“It’s just Spiderman,” Liz shrugged.
“Did you guys see that big security cam on youtube? He fought off four guys!” Peter and Ned watched Y/N as she practically praised the Spiderman.
“Oh my gosh. She’s crushing on Spiderman,” Betty joked.
“Kinda,” Y/N shrugged, a blush creeping up onto her face. Peter glance at Ned then turned his attention back to the group.
“Ugh. Gross. He’s probably like thirty,” Betty said.
“You don’t even know what he looks like. What if he is like seriously burned?” Liz suggested.
“I wouldn’t care. I would still love him for the person he is on the inside,” Y/N replied. “He’s a good man and its obvious he really cares about this city. That is something I really admire about him.”
“Peter knows Spiderman,” Ned blurted. Peter’s mouth dropped open and he turned towards Ned. Everyone in the room went silent and all their eyes were on Peter, even Y/N’s.
“Uh, no I don’t,” Peter said, scrambling to his feet. “No. I-I mean.” He turned and faced Y/N and her friends.
“They’re friends,” Ned added with a smile on his face.
“Yeah, like coach Wilson and Captain America are friends,” Flash teased, now walking over to his rival.
“I-I’ve met him. Yeah, a couple times but its uh…through the Stark internship,” Peter clarified, briefly looking at Y/N. Flash seemed to be enjoying this for a smirk was evident on his face. “Mhmm. Yeah but I am not really suppose to talk about it,” Peter turned around, glaring at Ned.
“Well, that’s awesome,” Flash replied. “Hey, you know what? Maybe you should invite him to Liz’s party.”
“Yeah, I am having people over tonight. You are more than welcome to come,” she smiled.
“You’re having a party,” Ned asked.
“W-Will you be there Y/N?” Peter stuttered. Y/N looked up and nodded her head.
“Y-Yeah. I’m going.” Peter smiled shyly at her.
“Yeah, its gonna be dope. You should totally invite your personal friend Spiderman,” Flash insisted.
“Flash,” Y/N warned. “Leave him alone.”
“Ah come on. He’ll be there,” Flash spat. The bell rang and everyone stood to their feet and made their way towards the door. Peter watched Y/N stand, the two of them briefly met each other’s gaze before she broke it. She walked with her friends out of the gym, Peter’s eyes following her form.
Peter groaned in annoyance and look at Ned. “What are you doing?!?”
“Helping you out,” Ned said. “Did you not hear her? Y/N has a crush on you!” Peter opened his mouth to say something but nothing came. He couldn’t believe his childhood crush had a crush on him…well Spiderman. “Dude, you are an avenger!” Ned said, snapping Peter out of his thoughts. “If any one of us has a chance with Y/N, its you.”
Y/N and Peter had known each other since grade school and had become pretty close friends. Peter developed his first crush on her but never had the guts to tell her. And here she was, years later, having a crush on Peter’s alter ego. It almost didn’t feel real to Peter. Was he hearing this right? Was she really in love with Spiderman?
That night, May drove Peter and Ned over to Liz’s house. May stopped the car in front of the house and nodded her head. “A house party in the suburbs! Oh, I remember these. I’m kinda jealous.”
“It will be a night to remember,” Ned said with excitement.
“Ned, some hats wear men. You wear that hat!”
“Yeah, it gives me confidence,” Ned grinned.
“This is a mistake,” Peter said, suddenly feeling nauseous. “Hey, let’s just go home.”
“Oh Peter. I know. I know its really hard trying to fit in with all the changes your body is going through,” Peter furrowed his eyebrows. “It’s flowering you.” Peter bit his lip and laughed slightly.
“Okay, yeah. I’m gonna go,” Peter said, unbuckling his seatbelt. He exited the car, Ned following his actions.
“Peter,” May called. “Have fun.”
“I will,” Peter smiled.
“Bye May,” Ned waved as the car drove away. The two of them turned around and began walking up the sidewalk, towards the house. “Dude, you have the suit, right?” Peter lifted up his arm sleeve and showed him the web shooters and red costume. “This is going to change our lives!”
They entered the house, music blasting in the background and kids walking around with drinks in their hands. “DJ Flash,” the announcer said, making both the boys look over at the Flash operating the music.
“Okay, we are gonna have Spiderman swing in, say you guys are tight and then I get a fist bump or one of those half bro hugs,” Ned whispered to his best friend.
“Can’t believe you guys are at this lame party,” Michelle said, standing next to them.
“But…you’re here too,” Ned insisted.
“Am I?” Michelle walked off.
“Oh my–. Hey guys,” Y/N said. “Cool hat, Ned.”
“Hey Y/N,” Ned said with a silly grin on his face.
“Hey Y/N,” Peter’s voice squeaked.
“I’m glad you guys came,” she smiled. “There is pizza and drinks so go and help yourself.”
“Wow, what a great party,” Peter added with a smile.
“I barely did anything. It was all Liz.” Someone called her name and she turned her head. “Oh, I should go.”
“Yeah,” Peter nodded. She walked away and Ned said goodbye to her.
“Dude! What are you doing? She’s here, spider it up!”
“No. No. No. I can’t. I cannot do this. Spiderman is not a party trick,” Peter said. “Look, I am just gonna…be myself.”
“Peter, no one wants that.”
“Dude,” Peter said hurtfully. He turned to walk away when Flash called out his name on the microphone.
“Parker! What’s up? Hey, where is your pal, Spiderman? Let me guess, in Canada with your imaginary girlfriend?” The crowd laughed and Peter clenched his fists in anger. “That’s not Spiderman. That’s just Ned in a red shirt.”
Somehow, through peer pressure, Peter found himself outside. He disregarded his regular clothing and underneath it was his red and blue Spiderman outfit. He knelt down on the rooftop and gazed down at Liz’s house.
“Hey! What’s up? I am Spiderman,” he whispered to himself as he took off his shirt. “Just thought I would swing by, say hello to my buddy Peter. Oh hey, what’s up Ned? Where is Peter anyways?”
He sighed, looking down at Ned who stood awkwardly in the middle of the room. Peter shook his head.
“I can’t do this.” Peter noticed Y/N walk up to Ned and ask him a question. In response, Ned shrugged and she nodded her head before walking away. As soon as she was out of sight, Ned yanked out his phone and dialed Peter’s number. Peter answered it immediately.
“Peter! Where are you? Y/N’s asking for you,” Ned said, desperately.
“I will be there in a second.”
Peter hung up and gazed down at Y/N’s concerned face. She fiddled with her fingers and her eyes continued to wander around the room. Peter put his mask on and stood to his feet before swinging down.
“Oh sorry,” he apologized to some people. Everyone turned around to look at him and all mouth’s dropped open. He maneuvered his way through the crowd of people until he made it inside. “Sorry, I just gotta…find my friend Peter.”
“Spiderman?” He turned around at the sound of Y/N’s voice. His robotic eyes dilated and his head moved up and down her body. His actions did not go unnoticed by Y/N. “W-What are you doing here?”
“Oh, you know. Peter called me and asked if I could show.”
“No way,” Flash said in disbelief. He pushed past the crowd and soon came face to face with the superhero himself. “You’re really him? Are you really friends with Peter Parker?”
Peter turned his eyes towards Y/N who stood behind Flash. He pushed past his rival and approached her. “Hi,” he said awkwardly.
“Hi,” she smiled.
“What’s your name? Wait. No. Let me guess. Y/N, right?”
“Y-Yeah, how did you know?”
“Peter talks a lot about you,” Spiderman said.
“Spiderman!” He turned around and faced Ned. “Hi! It’s Ned. Remember me?”
“Yeah I do. How are you doing?” He gave Ned his fist bump and the boy nearly collapsed when realizing he was going to be popular for the rest of his life.
“Fine. I’ll let you get back to Y/N. She’s a big fan,” Ned laughed. Peter turned his head and eyed Y/N.
“Really?” He teased and she looked down at her feet.
“Well, kinda,” she replied, blushing like crazy.
“Well, I should get going. New York isn’t going to save itself,” Spiderman said.
“Yeah,” Y/N added, dreamily admiring the superhero.
“It was nice to finally meet you. Oh and tell Peter that Mr Stark needs him at the internship at four thirty tomorrow,” Spiderman added. “Can you do that for me?”
Y/N nodded and Spiderman winked at her with his big eyes, making her smile. Spiderman used his web shooters and swung away from the party. He made his way back up to the rooftop when everyone had lost interest and began to change back into his normal clothes.
“I can’t believe he actually showed,” Flash said to Y/N.
“What’s the matter, Flash? Jealous of Peter or of Spiderman?”
What do you think the other Avengers think of Peter's trans status? I imagine Thor would be pretty impressed that humans can transition like that haha
*rubs hands* Oh man I’m so glad you asked about this!
So first of all, Thor is Asgardian. It’s been mentioned in some of the newer comics (namely, Loki: Agent of Asgard and The Young Avengers) that Asgardian’s don’t have the same societal perception of sexuality or gender that most human cultures do. Male, female, gay, straight, etc. are all just meaningless labels to most of them. Because of this, I doubt Thor would care that Peter is trans. If anything, Thor would be surprised that Peter’s transition is so difficult. Thor knows Loki, who iscanonically genderfluidand can change his appearance from ‘male’ to ‘female’ at will. Upon finding out that Peter is trans, Thor would probably react like, “So, Man of Spiders, when will you perform the Trans Magic?”
Obviously, Tony “Daddy Warbucks” Stark would be supportive of Peter. I also headcanon Tony as trans so?? i might write about that in a separate post. Tony probably found out Peter was trans before he met the kid, while he was still researching ‘Spider-Man’. Tony knows, and he’s been on Peter’s side from day one. I’m a big fan of the theory that Tony designed a special binder in the Spider-Man suit, but also: Tony takes Peter shopping to buy him a ‘male’ wardrobe. As a philanthropist, he donates to charities that help trans kid, and as an adopt-a-dad, he does his best to finance Peter’s transition in any way he can.
Steve is also such a good ally about the whole deal. Sometimes, he’ll dress up in ‘civilian disguise’ and spend the day with Peter. Steve accompanies him into locker rooms, bathrooms, and all other “men only” spaces to make sure Peter feels safe (and honestly, who’s gonna fuck with you when there’s a 6′0″ beefcake at your side?). Steve also talks to Peter’s bullies like a total dad. When he found out Flash was calling Peter “Penis Parker” he showed up at the Thompson’s house and had a polite discussion with their son about the importance of respecting others.
Natasha has a different approach to bullies. She always tells Peter, “If you ever need a transphobe ‘taken care of’, just call me.” She says it with a smile, but Peter still can’t tell if she’s joking or not. She’s tried to teach him self-defense that doesn’t involve web shooters. They spar together after Peter finishes school on Tuesdays. Natasha taught him the ever-useful ‘leg scissor’ move, from one spider to another.
Bruce didn’t know much about the whole trans thing before Peter came along. Sure, he had heard stories on the news from time to time, but he had a very surface-level understanding of the matter. When Bruce found out Peter was trans, he took the opportunity to research as much about the subject as possible. He wants to respect Peter’s privacy, but he’s also very curious by nature. Tony eventually designates Bruce as Peter’s personal doctor (which excites the both of them). At some point, Bruce designs a form of testosterone that can keep up with Peter’s heightened immune system. Bruce also does most of Peter’s T injections, because Peter is squeamish about needles.
Clint is cool with it. He taught Peter how to skateboard.
when you hear people using Tony’s line “if you’re nothing without the suit, then you shouldn’t have it” as evidence that somehow Tony is emotionally abusive or purposely manipulative or being a douchebag and you’re just “WTF??????”
did people literally forgot how the entirety of Iron Man 3 is Tony learning this very lesson amidst his panic attacks and PTSD??? Tony had to learn that it wasn’t the suit that made the hero but the hero was inside him all along, that the suit doesn’t define him but what’s in his heart and soul - and here is Tony taking in what he learned and trying to teach that lesson to Peter, so that Peter understood that the cool gadgets doesn’t make him Spider Man, or a better hero, but what he believes, what he stands for, and what responsibility he’s willing to take.
and even without all that very obvious call back, Peter literally was in way over his head and using the suit inappropriately, purposely sneaking past the safeguards that Tony put in place so that Peter could gradually learn all the skills he needs to fully operate the suit well - safeguards that are designed to protect him and protect others around him - Tony had every right to take the suit away from him when Peter was clearly going behind his back to sneak around, like it or not, Tony built that suit, it is Tony’s property, he can and should take it away if Peter is not going to use it properly and have only endangered the lives of other people.
Tony wasn’t angry at him because he just randomly is being a douchebag, Tony is angry because INNOCENT PEOPLE COULD HAVE DIED, PETER COULD HAVE DIED. If Tony hadn’t been checking in and keeping an eye on things, a lot of people could have died because of Peter’s actions and that would have been something Peter would have to carry on his conscience. Tony isn’t mean for funsies. Tony is trying to impress upon Peter the extreme seriousness of what he did and how his overconfidence and recklessness put other people in danger, something Tony himself has experienced and learned the hard way which he didn’t want Peter to have to learn that way.
Tony is there for Peter because he doesn’t want Peter to be going through this alone like Tony himself had to. He wants Peter to be better than him and not make his mistakes.
seriously people, are you telling me that if you snuck around your parents/guardian doing something extremely dangerous that they specifically and explicitly told you NOT to do, and that action ended up causing other bystanders to nearly die, you’re telling me that they wouldn’t be absolutely furious at you? you’re telling me they’d just be coddling you and not be mad that you didn’t listen and you almost got other people and yourself killed?
Tony’s reaction is as realistic as it gets given the magnitude of the situation. This wasn’t Peter being late to class or skipping school or losing his suit or his backpack, or getting a bad grade, no, this is Peter nearly getting people killed because he wouldn’t listen when someone older told him that he wasn’t ready and that there were more trained people to handle all of this.
there is such a thing as appropriate/proportional reaction given situation and context - yes Peter is a child, but just because he’s a child doesn’t mean there isn’t boundaries, or that he is simply absolved of all guilt because he’s a child - the whole point is to teach young children what they should or shouldn’t do and what is right and wrong and how to behave - Tony was stern, clearly angry, his voice slightly raised and firm, yet he wasn’t screaming in Peter’s face nor was he physical in any way. No, Tony simply made it very clear with his tone of voice and his words that he wasn’t going to let Peter go on acting recklessly like this. That is it. And the same that you’d ground your children or put them in time out when they misbehave or do something dangerous, Tony taking away the suit is exactly that.

It was a new year. A new year of hell. Peter always did fairly well in his classes, especially his science classes, but he still hated the idea of being invisible as he navigated the crowds of hormonal teenagers. He also hated listening to guys and girls complain about broken phones when he had to worry about broken bones as he kept the streets safe.
He didn’t hate school quite as much, however, when he walked into chemistry and saw you. You were a new student and you sat perched on a stool, alone at a back table. Your hair shone in the sunlight that streaked through the classroom window. Peter would swear that your eyes glittered like (Y/E/C) jewels when your eyes met his. You flashed him a shy smile before looking away. It was only for a moment but Peter was undeniably head-over-heels.
“Parker,” the teacher barked. Peter snapped his head to look at the teacher. He gripped the strap of his backpack nervously. “It is nice of you to finally join us. For the rest of the year, I think it would be kind to your new science partner that you arrive on time.” The teacher gestured to you with one liver-spotted hand.
Peter’s heart leaped into his throat as he willed his feet to move towards you. He placed his bag down with a thud and nervously took the stool next to you. “I’m (Y/N),” you whispered, tapping his shoulder lightly.
“I’m Peter!” he blurted out as the teacher was going over the syllabus. His face went as red as a tomato and a few students snickered. The teacher shot him a threatening glare before continuing. You smiled and giggled lightly, pink creeping up your cheeks.
The entire hour, Peter kept stealing glances at you. Everything about you was perfect. The shape of your lips, the color of your eyes, the rise of your cheek bones, the curve of your nose. An oral pop quiz was given and Peter was impressed by your intelligence. You raised your hand for almost every question and every time you were right.
Every now and then you would catch Peter staring. Your heartbeat was rapid the entire class period. His chocolaty brown gaze made your breath hitch and your stomach flutter. When he wasn’t looking, you would also steal glances. His jaw clenched in concentration. His messy hair fluttered in his eyes. His surprisingly defined arms and chest moved gracefully under his sweater.
Towards the end of class, the teacher handed out a list of various labs you could choose from to get yourself acquainted with the lab. You looked over the purple paper and looked up at Peter who was staring directly at you. His chin was propped up on his hand and he had a dazed smile on his face. “So, um, Peter, what do you think?” you asked.
“I think you’re amazing,” he mumbled. His eyes grew wide as he realized what he said. You looked away, hoping to hide the intense blush on your cheeks. “I.. I mean no, well, yes, you are, but I, uh…” You could say that Peter was saved by the bell, for the high pitched school bell began to ring and Peter was out the door before anyone else. You stared at the empty stool and your shoulders drooped a little. This was going to be an interesting year.
Peter made his way to the lunch room, trying to block out the embarrassing image of him making a fool of himself. He somberly waited in line for his lunch and then took his usual seat with his friend, Ned. “New year, dude. New year means new girls,” Ned said, nudging Peter’s shoulder. Peter just slowly shook his head, staring down at his grease soaked pizza. “What’s wrong with you?”
“I met the new girl,” Peter mumbled.
“Dude, tell me about her! Is she that bad that so you’re like this now?”
Peter shook his head once more. “No, Ned. She’s astounding. She’s so intelligent and she made this really funny joke in class and her face… Ned, her face. She’s the most gorgeous girl I’ve ever seen. And she’s my science partner..” Peter went on and on with great enthusiasm about you. Ned encouraged it.
You walked into the lunch room, gripping your bagged lunch and looking around nervously. You finally found who you were looking for and made a bee-line for the table. “And Ned, her shirt fit in all of the right…”
“Um, Peter?” you interrupted nervously, standing behind him as Ned eyed you humorously. You saw his shoulders tense and his ostentatious hand gestures freeze in mid-air. He slowly turned in his seat and looked up at you. “You forgot this in chemistry,” you held up the hand not holding your lunch to show Peter’s backpack.
He gingerly took the bag from you, his fingertips brushing against your hand. You would laugh at yourself later but you could have sworn you felt sparks when his hand touched yours. “Thank you,” he mumbled, looking into your eyes. You could feel a heat creeping up your neck and you gripped your lunch nervously.
“Would you like to sit with us?” Ned piped up, breaking your attention away from Peter’s gold-flecked eyes.
You flashed him a smile, and nodded. “Yes, thank you,” you stammered.
“You wouldn’t mind, Pete, right?” Ned winked at him.
“Not… Not at all,” Peter said, scooting over so you could sit next to him. You made yourself comfortable as you slid in next to your cute new lab partner. Your shoulders brushed together and Peter cleared his throat.
“So, (Y/N), I’m Ned. Peter has told me a lot about you.” Peter angrily took a bite out of his pizza. You giggled shyly and began unpacking your lunch. “Peter here is very good at chemistry with other people, just so you know.” The boy in question let out a very angry sigh, his jaw clenching. You bit your lip and saw that Ned was playing wing-man.
“Is he now?” you asked, sounding intrigued. “Maybe you could show me a thing or two… In the lab, of course.” Peter perked up but continued to stare down at his food.
“So, (Y/N), have you ever studied anatomy?” Ned asked, waggling his eyebrows at you and nodding towards Peter. You suppressed a giggle as you felt Peter kick him under the table.
You made sure to flutter your eyelashes a little as you looked sideways at the very embarrassed boy and said, “The human body happens to be a.. main interest of mine.”
Peter almost choked on his milk and you couldn’t help but let out a laugh. Ned roared with laughter and Peter was once again bright red. “He’ll get this flirting thing down eventually,” Ned said through fits of laughter, patting your hand reassuringly. “So, where ya from?”
Ned made pleasant conversation the rest of the lunch period and Peter gradually came out of his shell. You could tell that you would become fast friends with the two boys and your feelings for Peter had already begun to take root. Peter, at one point, even attempted a pick-up line.
“What lab were you thinking of doing?” you asked Peter.
“Well,” he began, puffing out his chest and looking at you through half-lidded eyes, “I was thinking we could mix copper and tellurium because you’re CuTe.”
“Impressive, Peter,” you said with a giggle. He looked very proud of himself for the “effectiveness” of his flirting. The lunch bell rang and all three of you stood up to leave. “Well, I’ll see you in gym, Peter. See you tomorrow, Ned!” you shouted over your shoulder.
“Gym, huh? You guys can be gym partners! You can help her with her squats, spot that a… ouch, dude!” Peter punched Ned’s shoulder as he was talking. Peter watched you walk away, a soft smile on his face. You glanced once more over your shoulder and flashed a gorgeous smile at Peter. Peter was not going to hate school at all this year.
