EVER WANTED TO FEEL COOL? THEN LISTEN TO THIS SONG AND YOU’LL FEEL LIKE LOU REED IN NO TIME! THIS MAY BE THE MOST FAR-OUT, GROOVIEST SONG IN EXISTENCE! DON’T LET THE SPACEMEN 3 CREDIT FOOL YOU, THIS IS REALLY JUST A SPECTRUM/SONIC BOOM/PETE KEMBER SONG. SONIC BOOM AND SPIRITUALIZED’S RELATIONSHIP WAS DONE BY THE TIME THEY STARTED RECORDING RECURRING, AS THE A-SIDE IS ALL PETE AND THE B-SIDE IS ALL JASON. ENJOY!
I always was very impressed by droning washing machines, heard through the floor on those sick days in bed off school, and more so by the symphony of summer mowers in suburbia, accompanied by various planes.
yes , Andrew was there a whole bunch . he tried a bass take for me on something that we couldnt ‘find’ , but it was un-used . 4 of us including me & Noah tried it , but in the end it found its own solution . A & B were away when we started mixing , but I sent them mixes as we did them and Andrew particularly was regularly responsive & supportive & positive about it (at a time when some others outside of Noah & Me were'nt) .
Andrew usually lets me crash at his place if i’m working , and it’s seconds away from the studio .
I like to do as much at Blanker Unsinn as possible .
It’s a collaborative studio between MGMT & my go-to Engineer & best buddy -Nick Kramer - so it’s double nice.
Andrew & Ben also generously let the studio area be used by various of their friends w/ bands. Between the differant bods theres a fairly constant but chilled stream of interested parties/friends mooching thru . which I like ……
I wish I could quite articulate quite what a trip it is to work on stuff like MGMT & Panda Bear …. its a lot of fun…..
Pete Sonic Boom Kember on recording Panda Bear’s record in MGMT’s studio.
