yo fam i gotta ask, ur KiriBaku fic is the only 1 i read cus im picky asf with fanfics, im curious if you know any good fanfics out there bout these 2. because there's more fanfictions than im willing totake the time to go through

Oh!!! Thank you so much anon! I actually don’t read too many KiriBaku fics myself (I plan to make my way through them soon!) But here are the top three that have stayed in my mind!

Heart Strings by starofjems
Teen, One-Shot, ~8000 words

Summary: Red. Red was all Bakugou could see sometimes. His father called this ability to see strings of fate a gift. Bakugou called it curse. He never wanted to be fate’s pawn, never wanted to willingly play its games. More than anything, Bakugou had never wanted to know who was at the end of his string. There was no turning back.

This starts off like any other well-written but cliche “red string of fate” quirkless soulmate!AU, but it is so well-written, and there is a twist that completely took my breath away, and for those reasons, I highly highly recommend it!

don’t count on me to let you know when by newamsterdam
Explicit, One-Shot, ~16000 words

Summary: Kirishima has always made things easy for Bakugou. But that doesn’t mean that Bakugou’s gotten any better at these things, even after all of these years.

This a future!fic about Bakugou and Kirishima reuniting after years apart, as they learn to become a part of each other’s lives again. This fic is so well-written. Like, damn. The characterization, the dialogue, the drama, heck, even the smut is well-written, and I usually don’t even like smut. This fic had me in tears and I absolutely cannot recommend it enough times.

but i’ve got an angry heart by newamsterdam
Teen, Multi-Chapter, Incomplete

Summary: Bakugou Katsuki is not going to jeopardize his future a second time, and that means staying away from anyone who gets too close. Kirishima Eijirou has never learned how not to be close to someone. Of course, they end up as next-door neighbors.

This one isn’t finished just yet, but it is still excellent. It’s kind-of a quirkless college!AU, but it’s not mindless fluff like those tend to be. There’s really good, thought-out angst with some unforgettably chilling scenes as you and Eijirou both slowly figure out what happened in his past that made Bakugou so tight-strung. The pacing of this is fantastic, and the touch of mystery is so so good.

First, thank you to those of you who are sending good thoughts my way.  I’m not too anxious (yet) about the surgery, so fingers crossed.  It helps that I can prepare for it since it’s a scheduled surgery.

As for what I’ve been up to the last couple of days…. I’ve been working on Modified Cupid (the pole dancing fic).  The story is done, I’m just working on the epilogue (which… yeah, this epilogue is going to make the whole fic have an E rating….) which I’m hoping to finish tonight, and then it’s in Io’s hands. :D  All 15k+ words of it…

It’s been super hot lately and I’m melting, so I don’t really get much done during the day… I’ve been hiding out inside and trying to find ways around having to cook because omg it’s so hot.

Next on the to-do list will be 10 Yuuris… which I will continue doing livestream style.

And I have a rec list that will be coming out soon.  I’ve been collecting fics for a while.  Lots of stuff coming from Sassy, hopefully.

(And don’t worry about bysoti(d)… I’m still plugging away on it, it’s just going to be a long chapter)

Chapter 14: Love Like A Sunset
By: @a-girl-named-whiskey

“How do you do that?” she asked, in a breathless tone.

“What?” he inquired, tilting his head to the side.

“Make me feel as if I’m the most important and beautiful person in this town,” Betty stated without hesitation.

“Well, that’s simple,” Jughead remarked, as his hand caressed Betty’s soft skin, feeling her shiver under his tender touch. “Because in my world…you are. You’ve stolen my heart, Betty Cooper.”

This is probably my last aesthetic/imagines for the week. (Going on a much-needed beach trip this weekend).

A BIG THANK YOU to everyone who liked, commented, re-blogged my edits! I didn’t expect to get so much love from you guys. I started this hobby as I have been stressed out and anxious lately and I found that doing these helped relieve them.

Also, a SHOUT OUT to all the amazing and talented fanfic writers in this fandom. I must’ve said this a million times already but I’m gonna say it again, you guys are wonderful and such an inspiration! Thank you! ❤️❤️❤️

Witchcraft Authors to Avoid

None. And I’ll tell you why.

I know, I know. I’m a horrible person. How could I possibly agree with all of these horrible authors? But here’s the thing: You don’t have to–and shouldn’t–agree with an author 100% just because you read them.

Instead of telling beginner witches not to read books or presses, I think we should tell them to read A LOT of source material instead, and read with a critical eye. Here are some things to look out for:

Pay attention to when it was published. Yes, I know Scott Cunningham’s info is old and not often followed anymore. And in ten years, my information will be outdated, and so will yours. Witchcraft trends change. Yarrow and rue used to be very popular beginner plants, because they are commonly found in many areas of North America. Nowadays, it’s more popular to use kitchen spices such as cinnamon and rosemary, and therefore these two herbs became outdated and are no longer used for what they were originally used for. This is something to keep in mind when reading a book from 1988.

(As a side note, different witches use different techniques and materials. I use bloodstone to connect with ancestors; I’ve never seen any other death witch do that. That doesn’t mean I’m wrong, it means I do things differently.)

Whenever you read a work, read critiques on it as well. Triumph of the Moon is well-written, and has a lot of acclaim! But it also has a lot of backlash–cultures the author glossed over, historical inaccuracies, biased claims, and the like. Read up on these critiques, even summaries. Hell, the amazon comments section and wikipedia articles even have some necessary critiques. I know tumblr can be an echo-chamber sometimes, but when you’re studying witchcraft, you shouldn’t remain in an echo-chamber. Read other sources. You’ll decide which one to agree with.

Research the author. How you approach the work depends on how trustworthy the author is. If people have problems with them–if they’re historically inaccurate, or disregard other cultures–keep that in mind while you read. You don’t have to completely avoid an author just because they’re inconsiderate about some things, especially if that work is historically significant. I know Gerald Gardner was iffy at best, but I still recommend reading Witchcraft Today if you’re studying Wicca, because that book was a HUGE influence on modern day.

Don’t avoid a press entirely. I see a lot of people shitting on Llewellyn Worldwide. If you don’t know, that’s one of the biggest Pagan/Witchcraft publishing presses in the world, and they’ve been around for a long time. For those who aren’t familiar with how publishing works, there are two things to know about presses. (1) It is not the press’s job to fact-check people for inaccuracies; it’s the author’s. Especially in big presses, editors and curators are there to make sure the book is readable and sells. That’s it. (2) Presses often like to change their footprint. This means that they like to publish things that haven’t been published before, or, if their last book got shit on by the community, they’ll want to find an author who’s better. Hence, the quality of authorship varies in a press. So there’s no need to flat-out avoid presses.

Read with an open mind. These books are here for us to learn. They’re even here for us to learn what NOT to do, or what we don’t want as a witch. You should be disagreeing. You should be questioning. You should be asking other peoples’ opinions on the subject. Because at the end of the day, your craft is your own, and you want to make it as uniquely “you” as possible.

To clarify, I’m not here to disregard anyone’s opinions of certain works. It is my opinion that people should form their own opinions of works, and learn from them. Especially beginners.

Thanks for your time. Have a good one ♡^▽^♡

anonymous asked:

Is there a book that has changed your life or has made you a better human, in a way?

Sure. I get asked this a lot so I’ll just make a kind of master post. I’ve worked through a few books but these have been the most transformative:

The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying by Marie Kondo
(great for clearing room for a new era in your life)

The Power of Now and A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle (both helped me get a sense of awareness and control over my thoughts, helped me understand myself, people around me, society in general. Indispensible)

The Places That Scare you by Pema Chodron
(helped me learn to make peace with my negative emotions, to stop running from the moment, to be present for the whole of life, not just the ‘good’ bits)

Philosophy for Life and Other Dangerous Situations by Jules Evans (a great overview of various philosophical techniques that people have used over the ages to cope with life)

Also, there are a couple of talks that I love to listen to. They always bring me a sense of peace. They’re like 1-2 hours long and really condense the spirit of the books I mentioned above.

This Moment is the Perfect Teacher by Pema Chodron (I listen to this like once every two weeks or something. Really amazing talk, funny, compassionate, enlightening. I think this is available to buy, but it’s like $30 or something, idk. I’m broke so I just downloaded it as a torrent from here)

In the Presence of a Great Mystery by Eckhart Tolle (again, a super transformative, warm and funny talk about personal growth etc. again, I got this as a torrent here)

I also use an app called Headspace which taught me the basics of meditation, I use it daily to help keep my mind somewhat grounded.

Hope that helps! x

If you’re not a morning person, you know the struggle. It’s not just about waking up, it’s about actually getting yourself to do stuff in the morning. While I usually recommend you adapt to your body’s own schedule, as you’ll work much better, school, work or other activities may not allow you to do so. Therefore, here’s a guide on how to get shit done in the morning.

The night before

  • Prepare whatever study materials you’re going to use that day. Open your notes and make sure you know where you should start (i personally lay a pen on the exact paragraph).
  • Put a bottle of water and some tea (with caffeine) or coffee on your desk so that you don’t have to go get it next morning.
  • If you’re usually cold in the mornings, get yourself a blanket. I promise you mine has made me more productive than all the coffee I’ve ever had.
  • Write a to-do list for next day. Then distribute those tasks in a schedule (you can either use a printable or just scribble it on some piece of paper). Take into account you’ll need time for breakfast and personal hygiene.
  • Other than that, don’t leave anything else on your desk, as it may be distracting.
  • Make an effort to go to bed at least an hour earlier. It makes a huge difference when you wake up

Actually waking up

if you struggle to wake up, try the following:

  • Ask someone to wake you up (a parent, a roommate).
  • Put your phone accross the room and inside a glass to amplify the sound.
  • If your phone has an option for voice alarm, use it. Make it something really motivating or, even better, really annoying.
  • Combine all of the above for foolproof results.

Tips to get stuff done

  1. Chug your liquids! - The very first thing you should do after your feet touch the floor is drink some water and drink something caffeinated (yes, in that order) (caffeine because it will kick in by the time you’re done with breakfast and water because caffeine can be dehydrating + water will also jumpstart your body).
  2. Put on some fluffy socks - okay maybe this is just a personal thing but I’m personally much less likely to go back to bed once i have some socks on.
  3. Smol workout - do something that will send blood to your brain. It can literally be ten jumping jacks.
  4. Breakfast? Not yet - you’ve gotten up, you want food, understandable. BUT remember that book/notebook you put on your table last night? Well, get to work on it for 15-30 minutes. You may be sleepy and not able to comprehend much of what you’re doing, but the important thing is that once you come back from having breakfast, you will already have started, which is the most difficult part.
  5. Avoid anything with a shit-ton of sugar - it will give you a sugar crash in about an hour and all you’ll want to do is go back to bed. (Personal rec is overnight oats with some fruit on top - delicious, fast af and super filling and energizing).
  6. A big breakfast can make you sleepy. Instead, make it a little bit smaller and have some healthy snacks (like hummus) throughout the morning. Look at them as your reward for studying.
  7. Stay off the internet. During breakfast, I find that social media (especially youtube) tend to put me off working afterwards, as they give me something more insteresting to do. Therefore I reccommend you either find something else to do (write your to do list, read a book) or limit your Internet time to 5-10 minutes.
  8. Remember that you control your mindset. If after doing all of this you still don’t feel like studying, it’s perfectly okay to stare at your desk for five minutes and have an argument with yourself about how much you do want to study. Seems stupid but trust me, it works most of the time.

anything, anything by  drunktuesdays | 5.2K

Stiles wakes up in Derek’s bed in a world where they’re married now, and Derek keeps leaving the room every time he tries to have a conversation about how this happened, since they weren’t even dating.

“Did you sic everyone in this damn town on me?” Stiles said, furious.

“No,” Derek drawled.

“Fernando at the coffee shop refused to serve me,” Stiles shouted. “Do you know how long he’s known me? Since I was five. When I asked him what his problem was, his wife told me you were a nice boy and I shouldn’t be so mean.”

“I am a nice boy,” Derek said, smirking a little.

thank god your heart is too close by  hoars | 3.4K

There’s a boy, (“Fuck you, dude. I’m seventeen. Not fifteen.” Stiles laughs in his memory) waiting for him back home.

There’s this boy that carries Derek’s heart around in his pocket in Beacon Hills, California. He has short brown hair and brown eyes and should by all accounts be ordinary. He isn’t. He smiles mischievously over popcorn buckets, laughs during sex and never runs from Derek but to him.

Derek is kind of awed. Still. It’s been two years together and this boy is still his.

Beltane by  DevilDoll | 8.2K

“Watching Stiles heal someone has always been a little uncomfortable for Derek, like he’s seeing something intimate and private that shouldn’t have an audience. That’s nothing compared to how it feels.” This is an AU in which Stiles has magical healing powers.

“What did she say, Stiles?” Derek asks him. His fingers tighten on the elastic of Stiles’ underwear. He can’t seem to let go.

“She said my fate was tied to it, and I…”

“Tell me,” Derek urges softly, when Stiles falters again.

Stiles squares his shoulders and closes his eyes, and it’s clear he’s reciting from memory when he says, voice not quite steady, “This is for the one you are destined to find. He is your fate. You are his salvation. The tooth and the claw, the light and the hope. The protector and the healer.”

I Do Do You? by  Captain_Loki | 6.5K

Stiles and Derek wake up hung over and married in a hotel room in Las Vegas. It wouldn’t be so bad if the year before their relationship hadn’t fallen apart.

You make me…” Derek pauses, shakes his head trying to find the right words, and Stiles watches, bites at his thumb nail. “You make me patient, and…and balanced, and kind…and…” Derek stops suddenly, brows flicking together and then he bursts out laughing and Stiles’ breath catches in his throat.

“Fuck, no, those are they lyrics to Skinny Love,” and Stiles laughs, openly for the first time as the Derek in his palm covers his face in broad hands until he’s pulling away, wiping away the tears from his eyes. “Fuck, I’m so bad at this. And I’m drunk. God, I’m drunk. And I’m married. Fuck we got married.” Derek shakes his head and pauses, staring off into the distance somewhere for a long time before he looks back.

“I just want to make you happy Stiles,” Derek says, sobering slightly. “If…tomorrow you watch this and you think…you think I could…I just want to try. I’m not good with people, but I…”

“I just love you, okay?”

never found a boy (to love me like you do) by  stilinskisparkles | 6.6K

Stiles sits down opposite him, long fingers wrapping round the vodka bottle’s neck as he drags it towards him. “Huh.” He’s practically caressing the lid as he unscrews it and Derek shifts in his seat, looks determinedly elsewhere.

“I never told someone I was in love with, I was in love with them,” Stiles says quietly, hands still petting through Derek’s hair. “Even though I was in love with them, and I didn’t want to say anything so I let them go and they really fucking missed me and now they’re back and they’re sick of waiting, and they love you, too.”

Derek tightens his arms where they’re wrapped round Stiles’ waist, leans forward and rests his head on Stiles’ shoulder. “You fucking knew?”

Stiles squirms around on his lap and Derek lets out a ragged breath, tries to keep him still. “Not till right this second.”

Wild and Reckless Breeze by  GotTheSilver | 15.7K

In which Stiles is killing time working at a bookshop, Derek buys a lot of Chuck Palahniuk and they start hanging out, much to the confusion of Scott and the Sheriff.

“I was just,” Derek waves a hand towards the American Classics section. “Picking up something.”

“Catcher In The Rye? On The Road?”

Derek shakes his head and smirks, “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, actually.”

“Of course,” Stiles says. “You know, just because you dress like an angsty teenager, doesn’t mean you actually are one.”

Derek’s lips twitch, and for a moment Stiles thinks he might smile—really smile—but he just walks off to find his book. Stiles gets back to work and doesn’t notice when Derek leaves.
