Excellent looking film from the director of Blue Valentine. What I like about this trailer is how they used dialogue from the film and placed it over scenes stripped of almost any audio. Music wise, Suicide’s “Che” sets the tone of inevitable consequences, while Mike Patton’s “Snow Angel” helps the audience to understand the reasoning behind the characters’ actions. "You ride like lightning, you’re going to crash like thunder.“
Been staring at this for the past 5 min. And it made me happy that it just so happened to work with this song xD #mymusic #gif #adorable #kawaii #KAWAIIASFUCK #kitteh #kitten #dancing #capitalcities #perfectsync
Trailer - Beyond The Black Rainbow. Saw this trailer when it first came out and was intrigued. Haven’t seen the film yet, but from what I hear, it’s all style and no substance. "The trailer is better than the movie.“ That happens a lot - hey, good advertising. But I would definitely watch this for the visuals and soundtrack alone.
As much as I love car commercials, liquor ads take a close second. Not going for the glamorous, sophisticated image (Dos Equis, Disaronno), Southern Comfort’s new campaign is all about not giving a damn what anybody thinks - “whatever’s comfortable.” The hip, cool, and groovy track is “Hit or Miss” by Odetta.
Speaking of cars…Drive - Awesome movie. Awesome soundtrack. Awesome opening credits. Check out the label, Italians Do It Better, for retro/nu disco artists, with two of them featured on the soundtrack - Desire and The Chromatics.
Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. What I love about this trailer: How the visual pace is seamlessly cut to the music. How there is no dialogue or sound from the film itself. If you weren’t familiar with the story beforehand, you would have no idea what the hell this movie is about. But it would probably leave you pretty intrigued to learn more. That’s effective advertising.
Exceptional trailer for this dark and mysterious thriller coming out in the Fall. CSS’s “Faith In Love” sets a perfect tone of impending madness…and the inevitable trail of destruction it will leave in its wake.
In a perfect world, I’d be a music supervisor for GoPro. Insightful represents a genre of electronic music I’m very much into, and it lends itself well to these kinds of cinematic and airy visuals that GoPro showcases. If you’re into his track, you should definitely check out the entire Soulection label. The video should start playing at the 04m18s mark.
An amazing looking story of heroism and brotherhood. I’m assuming the post-rock cue is Explosions In The Sky, which is great for the expansive and unknown territory that is Afghanistan. Peter Gabriel’s cover of David Bowie’s “Heroes” is what really makes this trailer stick out.
Commercial - The Windows Phone Nokia Lumia 928. Windows has been featuring some of the coolest music in their advertising as of late. Alt-J’s “Fitzpleasure” sets the driving pace to capture the night with the “best low light smartphone.”
Fast paced, unsettling trailer with a dark subject matter. Watch for yourself as it unravels with Matthew Dear’s “You Put A Spell On Me” taking you along for the ride. I’ve always loved trailers with flashing text graphics and critic reviews - perfectly cut.
2013 Honda Civic Sedan spot, featuring Santigold - Disparate Youth. Unbelievable. Easily the second time in my life where a song I wanted to sync myself has been done so. I need to get my ass to LA with the quickness.
I heard Awolnation’s “Sail” in the background at some point, somewhere…and realized what an epically, amazing track it is for syncing to picture. I knew it’d been synced before, so I had to do some You-tubing….lo and behold, an auto spot. I swear, my calling is to be a music supervisor exclusively for the auto industry. I also have a huge, cinematic vision for this song in a film. I’ll keep that to myself.
