Food names are the best for any house pet but it has to be like unrelated to the animal itself for example naming a piglet “Bacon” is rude but naming a piglet “Pea Pod” is perfect

Headlines were made earlier this year when it was announced that a “secret” dolphin facility was under construction deep in the Arizona desert. Several animal rights activist groups were quick to condemn the very idea of the facility, creating petitions and protesting with the slogan: “dolphins don’t belong in the desert.”

But what does this phrase really mean? These animals obviously aren’t going to be thrown into a sand dune nor are they going to be fed a diet of fresh frozen cacti. In reality the dolphins aren’t going to be interacting with much outside of their 925,000 gallon habitat. Moreover this state-of-the-art enclosure was built quite creatively to ensure that the desert stays far away from the dolphins’ little oasis. Several shade structures have been built to protect surfacing dolphins from prolonged exposure to the harsh Arizona sun. And about those ridiculous desert temperature swings, well the dolphin habitat has both heaters and chillers to keep it comfortably within the 70′s all year long. But let’s not forget about the coolest aspect of this habitat: Dolphinaris Arizona will be one of the first dolphin exhibits with pools that can be transformed from indoors to outdoors and back again. Two of the pools in the habitat can be enclosed with the help of a sliding glass panel, thus ensuring that the dolphins are safe from climate hazards such as severe dust storms. In many ways, the dolphins in this facility will be in better shape than those in environments closer to their home range, such as the hurricane-prone Floridian coast.

So what does the phrase “dolphins don’t belong in the desert” really mean after all? Considering the fact that this new habitat has been designed to keep its resident animals cool, wet and comfortable, I’m not quite sure. We have to face it, the location of this facility isn’t going to be affecting these animals’ welfare. Instead, it’s a rather ingenious method of connecting a population hundreds of miles from the coast with an ocean strangled by the run-off of their green, sparkling suburbs. CO2 emissions pumping out of cars deep in the heart of Arizona are making their way to the sea and mixing with saltwater, bleaching corals and dissolving the shells of countless oceanic creatures. It’s hip Scottsdale restaurants and run-of-the-mill grocery stores, along with their counterparts across the country, whose insatiable desire for seafood are depleting fish populations thousands of miles away. So if this new dolphin facility turns a few Arizona kids destined to be accountants into future marine biologists or makes a few Scottsdale retirees develop a passion for sustainable living, we’ll see that this location is more of a bonus than a drawback. Rather than “not belonging in the desert,” it seems that the dry, hot Arizona desert is the perfect home for a pod of Atlantic bottlenose dolphins.

here’s a little story about Jaehee that i’ve titled ‘distraction’ <3

It had been a while since you had joined the RFA. Jaehee was still getting used to having you there - a voice of reason, sometimes, and just as bad as all the others, on occasion. Still, she would never admit it, but it was nice to have another girl. Even if you were, sometimes, a little off-piste, she felt as thought she could confide in you; maybe that ‘bond of sisterhood’ was a reality.

Or maybe it was a little more.

“Jumin, that’s not how you should pick her up…”

“Are you trying to tell me I don’t know how to pick up my own cat?”

“Yes.”

It was a sheer coincidence that you happened to love cats as much as her boss - even more so that you and he were like two peas in a pod. Perfect for each other. Jaehee felt a small pain in her chest, and straightened her back, looking back at her screen.

“… There. Don’t force her legs up.”

“That feels unnatural.”

“Ok, but look at Elizabeth-”

Really, Jaehee doubted whether you had to have this conversation right in front of her desk. It was distracting.

“I don’t like it.”

“Jumin, with all due respect, you’re an-”

“Do you really have to do this in front of my work space?” Jaehee couldn’t help the annoyance in her voice; seeing you and Jumin interact like this wasn’t improving her mood in the slightest. “I’m behind schedule, and you’re distracting.”

“But this is my building.”

“Please leave.”

Jaehee was used to being firm with Jumin, but you weren’t usually this unreasonable. “____?” The pain returned momentarily when you looked towards her, eyes glittering with mirth. “Please, if you’re going to be distracting, leave.”

She’s always distracting.

“Aw, but I like being around you, Jaehee…” Your cooing voice nearly, nearly, made Jaehee break face - in reality, she could sit at her desk and watch you play with that cat all day. Seeing you and her boss so close, however…
“Well, we can talk later.” Jaehee turned back to the screen, staring blankly at her inbox. She hated pushing you away like that, but you were being distracting.

Even more than usual?

When she heard the door slam, her heart fell a little. Jaehee dared not look up from her emails - if her mind started wandering, god only knows how long it would take for her to complete her work. She just had to focus. Focus.

She knew she was jealous. That she had absolutely fallen for you, the moment she saw you… The moment she sent you that first message, she knew you’d be more than just another member. A close friend, she expected - but this? She wasn’t one for falling in love so easily, let alone getting distracted over unrequited love. Maybe she’d be fine if you and Jumin weren’t so close. Seeing him grow a bond with you - over a damn cat, of all things - hurt her in more ways than she cared to admit.

“You’re awfully deep in thought.”

Jaehee very nearly flew backwards off her chair, and did actually squeal when she heard your voice. So deep in thought had she been, she had completely neglected to detect your presence. You were still there, in her office, perched on her chair, chin in palm, eyes still glittering, hair perfect, and smile as lovely as always.

“You’re still awfully deep in thought.”

Finally, Jaehee snapped out of her reverie - clearing her throat, she ran her hand through her hair.

You’re nervous, Jaehee…

“Why are you still here?”

“Awfully blunt.” Jaehee couldn’t help but notice how one side of your mouth tilted upwards slightly more than the other when you smiled. “I told you - I like being around you.” Now you were walking towards her, still smiling that stupid smile. “I think you like being around me, too…” Was that a blush Jaehee detected on your face? She could feel her own heart racing - you were now stood on the other side of her desk, the two of you separated only by the object.

“I don’t… Entirely know what you mean.” Jaehee was grateful for the desk, now; you couldn’t see her nervously fidgeting with the hem of her skirt. “If you wouldn’t mind, I-" "Jaehee.”

“… Yes?” All her willpower had dissipated under your gaze - as steely as her nerves were usually, you changed everything.

“I really, really like you.” That was definitely a blush on your face. “And I was wondering how you would feel about… Coffee? A picnic? I don’t-” You chuckled nervously, and Jaehee felt her heart flutter - you were just adorable… “I don’t really know what you’d prefer, but I’m just… Asking you on a date, I guess?”

It felt like an eternity passed before you spoke again, flustered. “I mean, if you don’t want to, then that’s- that’s fine too, and I’m- it’s all good if we’re still… Just friends?”

“No!” Jaehee cringed at the volume of her voice - she hadn’t intended to be so loud… Clearing her throat, she tried again. “No. I’d… I’d love to go out with you. At some point.”

“At some point?”

“Work.”

“I’ve already handled that.” Through the window in her door, Jaehee saw a 'thumbs up’.

Jumin…?

“So, uh… Tomorrow? Or is that too soon?” Jaehee could hardly believe her ears - she really believed that you were…

“Tomorrow.”

No matter what she thought - you liked her. Really, really liked her. And she really, really liked you, too.

Oh man so

I’m watching ANH for the first time in a while and, in light of Rebels, and the early Rebellion’s tendency to blow up or damage Imperial ships with debris, specifically by luring them into firing on freefloating cargo?

Not firing on a suspiciously empty escape pod makes perfect sense.

For all they know, that thing is one of Sabine’s little presents.
