perfect people everyone else go home

A.C.E. as Artists

Donghun

  • Illustrator and zine maker
  • yes zines are a form of art
  • Donghun loves communication so why not??
  • He made zines before he became an illustrator, everyone convinced him to insert his own little doodles into them and the rest was history
  • He’s made many posters and covers for people
  • You’ve probably seen his stuff somewhere before
  • Likes the quiet work place
  • The work place is less quiet with his friends in the room
  • *cough* Jason and Chan *cough* *cough*
  • Always has a tiny sketchbook, he just prefers to work in small scales
  • Has Chan help him when he needed something printed on a larger scale
  • He may know how to work photo shop but printers are another story
  • He’s ruined many pieces in photoshop so Chan just does it automatically
  • It was a dark day for everyone when it first happened
  • Many late nights in the studio but unlike everyone else he always makes sure to go home
  • Will go around and tell everyone else in their studios to go home
  • “Get actual rest please”
  • He’s everyone’s art dad

  • He will randomly go up to someone and ask “May I take a photo of you for a painting”
  • Will add “your face is perfect for it”
  • that usually gets him a giggle and a yes
  • or chased down the street
  • “I’M SORRY I’M SORRY I’M SORRY”
  • He gets the most frustrated because he feels like he has the least amount of time for all of the projects he wants to do
  • Once tried to work on multiple projects at once
  • it did not end well and none of them got done
  • Donghun had to convince him to take it one at a time
  • His goal is to make it into a large scale exhibition like at MoMA or something
  • He will always do his best

Seyoon (Wow)

  • Photographer extraordinaire
  • Actually had photography classes, and some self taught knowledge and doesn’t classify himself as a photographer just because he has a nice phone camera
  • *sips tea*
  • anyways
  • He rolls his eyes at the people that want him to have photo shoots with him for free
  • “Atleast support the artist” is his motto
  • He’s really good at documentation so his friends always bring their pieces to his studio to be photographed
  • If you call yourself a photographer he will be a little critical but also give good criticism
  • Has random shots of lots of things from the sky to a close up of Jason
  • Takes a good 10 minutes before he takes a photo because camera adjustments
  • If you criticize his work without giving an actual reason he will ignore you
  • saying something like “I just don’t like it” will get you a death glare
  • He needs reasons he wants to improve

  • Just something hands on that he can do
  • He likes doing large scaled pieces
  • He often sometimes forgets about transporting pieces especially if they’re being put outside or in exhibitions
  • Sighs to himself as he realizes he has to dismantle it and put it back together where ever the piece is going
  • He often does get help from his other friends
  • “Hey hand me the hammer please”
  • “Um…I’m holding this thing here”
  • “Okay then you hand it to me”
  • “I’m already holding these pieces”
  • “MUST I DO EVERYTHING MYSELF??”
  • He appreciates the help that he gets and always credits the friends that helped him
  • That friend is usually Seyoon
  • Seyoon often helps with cataloging his work because we always need photos
  • Just a little baby that enjoys his giant masterpieces

  • Has made multiple animations of his friend Seyoon
  • Seyoon does not openly volunteer to be in these animations
  • Chan gets in trouble for including Seyoon in said animations, he now locks the door of studio and hides his equipment
  • His style is really clean and sharp but also really colorful
  • He just loves the idea of making stories come to life and them bringing people joy
  • He has a mini fridge in his studio because he gets too engrossed in his work to leave so he just reaches over and pulls some random sandwich out of it maybe even a lunchable
  • Has made many shorts on youtube
  • Appreciate his work

I… think I may have hosted the perfect party?

We had the perfect amount of food and drinks, everyone was satisfied but there aren’t mountains of leftovers to deal with.

My house is somehow clean right now.

We were having so much fun multiple people stayed til past 3am, like the only reason they left was we were all passing out tired.

No one was isolated or had to go hide in a corner.

Belly laughter throughout my house for hours.

I got really drunk, but roommates confirm neither I nor anyone else made an ass of themselves.

Kitties were on their best and most charming behavior.

Everyone got home safe.

No drama.

I am blessed.

The Only Person Reading This is Probably My Best Friend (and I'm learning to be okay with that)

My mom tells this story all the time about when I was in kindergarten and my teacher wrote on my report card that, “That Bridget is a hot ticket!” My mom declares that this was the very moment she knew she had a kid who was going to kick and kill her way up the food chain to success.

I went through high school, and consequently college, believing that if I wasn’t successful, I was nothing. I don’t necessarily believe it was my family or my environment that instilled this within me, but If I didn’t have an award, or a title, or something that everyone remembered about me at the end of the year, I felt like I just hadn’t made it yet. I learned to be ashamed of the moments when I was mediocre, and thus, went through the first 22 years of my life desperate to prove myself to everyone around me.

I recently graduated from undergrad and moved to Boston to pursue my graduate degree. I’ve embarked on this mental journey with the age old question - What am I looking for? Who am I trying to prove myself to? Why is it so damn important to me to appear better off than everyone else?

Truthfully, I have absolutely no idea where this obsession with success came from, but what I have recently realized is the insane level of anxiety it has given me. Who has the chops to be perfect all the time? How are those people not going home every night and downing the nearest bottle of red wine within arms reach?

I’m learning that success is really defined within us. It’s not something anyone else can declare. I don’t quite believe in God, but I imagine we don’t get up to the pearly gates at the end of this journey and see him say, “great job Bridget, you became a Senator, created the world’s largest charity to end global hunger, saved the lives of seventeen dogs, won a Nobel Peace Prize and opened a microbrewery in your spare time.”

Like I said, I don’t have a ton of faith in the man (or woman, just saying), but I bet he’s just like the rest of us. He remembers the way other people make him feel, not what they did or how many awards they won.

This blog is going to be a mixture of political and feminist musings, some lifestyle commentary, my journey of self discovery and perspectives from (yes, you guessed it) another millennial. While I’m okay with the fact that only my best friend is reading this, I hope you’ll follow the page and stick around.

I think the reason why people like Phandom members love Dan and Phil so much and are so far up their asses is because we simply all want what they have. We want to live the lives they're fortunate to have. Not "being famous" per se, but the home life. The feeling of having someone be your perfect, PERFECT, significant other. To always go everywhere with without a drop of a hat. Or to have everyone else around you know that you're a packaged deal. To be so incredibly happy with just one person...

in your life, forever, and be okay with that. What they have isn’t just a friendship, or a partnership, hell, not even a MARRIAGE is the equivalent to what Dan and Phil have. We love them for their chemistry, we love them for what they have with each other and we all just damn WISH WE HAD THAT TYPE OF HAPPINESS TOO. THAT FEELING OF BEING ADMIRED IN A SECRET BUBBLE. TO HAVE YOUR PRIVATE LIFE MEAN EVERYTHING TO YOU FROM EVERYONE ELSE.

I’m sorry I let the demon within me get the best of it haha…. anyway, I want what Dan and Phil have and I swear that’s probably the reason why I love them so much. And want to know what they’re up to 24/7 and what their house looks like. Because I want to live a life like theirs. Perfect and in a bubble and to have those struggles dealt with together and only together.

(The first thing that actually came to my mind after reading this)

I agree, as they are easily goals of mine to find someone to fill all those gaps of myself that I’m not even sure are present.

What Dan and Phil have is absolutely beautiful, and it’s a multitude of things that make us love them so much. But I do believe that this beautiful reasoning and explanation is one of them.

Everyone else thinks I've gone crazy.

Well, maybe I have.

Coming from a school where not a ton of people actually study for exams, they think I’m unreal. “Why are so you worried about passing IB?” I’m asked day in and day out. “You know you’ll get the Diploma.”

Maybe my quest for perfection is just going too far. Take history for an example: my best subject. I’ve decided that it’s not enough for me to pass. I need a 7.

I come home to a desk littered with old notes, data booklets, study guides, and question banks. Put my hair up and change into my UC Santa Cruz hoodie, before sitting down to pour over notes for the next few hours. Chemistry, History, Spanish – whatever. I’ve decided that I don’t just need to get the Diploma – I need the 36 I deserve.

At this point, I don’t care that I’m turning 18 in less than 48 hours. Don’t care about prom dresses or partying up my last 2 months of high school. And senioritis?! I wish. I really do. My inferiority complex presides over all.

I am the person who is unhappy with Bs. I was the one who cried when 8 of my CAS hours weren’t approved. I am the girl whose mind is both her best friend and worst enemy.

Wait. I think I might actually be insane after all.

The Signs on a Trip by Themselves

Aries: The decision to leave in spontaneous. They probably don’t pack anything practical with them like soap and blankets, they just bring along one or two sentimental items and a camera to record themselves with in the place they’re going to. Once they’re there, they fall in love with their get-away place, waking up early to watch the sunrise and moon rise, taking pictures of everything and recording themselves all the while. They go out to parks, clubs, all of the things the city has to offer and meet new people that fall for them quickly.
Taurus: Something that would make them want to leave must have been emotionally exasperating, so they carefully plan to go somewhere fun that will relieve them of their emotional stress. Despite their best efforts at planning, they probably get lost, forget their suitcase at the airport/train station/gas station, and get so frustrated that they consider just going home until they reason that losing their things and getting lost may not be all that bad and get acquainted with the area they are lost in. They wind up walking a while outside at night, having a change of heart and mind as they mull things over until they come across a quaint (and quirky) themed hotel where they decide to stay for their rest of their trip enjoying the peace and quiet.
Gemini: This person is leaving to find themselves. They’re good at everything, but they are scatter brained and don’t know which one they should choose to excel in and the thought that they have to choose things terrifies them and they feel out of control. The decision to leave however, is one that they do not fear, one that they’re sure of, and one that helps them feel in control. They probably pack heavily and have no intentions of coming back until they’ve really found inner peace. They travel by plane, feeling most at home where they’re high up in the sky and soaring above the clouds. When they land, they’re probably in a capital city and set out to make their dreams come true, visiting art museums, singing at karaoke bars, playing their guitar or other instrument on the street corner, trying to find what makes them feel the most satisfied.
Cancer: A Cancer who has never felt at home will spend most of their life desperately trying to find one. If they leave on a trip by themselves, they’re probably trying to do just that. They don’t have any troubles leaving what they’ve known behind, because it has never nurtured their heart in the way they crave for it to. They make the decision on where to go with their gut, deciding finally on a place they just know in their heart is where they were meant to be all along. They pack a lot of practical things since they don’t plan on coming back, as well as their most sentimental items from the people in their lives, maybe a stuffed animal they’ve had since childhood or a friendship bracelet, and most importantly a journal for them to write down how they feel about the trip and the place they’re going to. They had no trouble navigating their way through the unfamiliar city, their intuition guiding them effortlessly as though they’d lived there their whole lives. As they sit on the balcony of their hotel room overlooking the sky line, they know at last that they are home.
Leo: This person is leaving because they feel restless inside. They’ve been living the same way their whole lives in an endless cycle of monotony, and this trip is going to help break them free of that. The decision to leave is sudden to some, but the Leo has felt it coming for years and to them it seems like a long over due vacation. They pack lightly because they’re going to come back eventually once they feel better. They probably leave with their car and drive across the country with their windows down and blaring their favorite songs, singing them along all the while and enjoying the feeling of the wind blowing through their hair. Once they arrive at their destination, they may feel a little emotional; they’ve spent their whole lives being positive that they wound up suppressing some of their sadness and they only feel comfortable releasing it once they’re alone. They return to their home completely recharged and with new ideas on how to keep themselves from getting restless with their same old routine and with a new-found respect of their own emotions.
Virgo: They have spent their whole life falling victim to their perfectionist tendencies, all the while their shyness holding them back from good family relationships, strong friendships, and even romance. They are leaving to escape the stress they have created for themselves. They’re always grounded, so for once, they want to fly. They leave without notice to any of their friends or family and leave pretty much everything behind, for once wanting to know what it’s like to be careless and to do something without planning beforehand. They take a train, sitting by the window and looking outside at the grassy fields they travel through. They arrive in a small town and immediately go to buy art supplies with which to pain/draw the beautiful scenery they saw on the train. Here, as they stand in a city far away from everything they’ve known, they are relaxed and free and cheery. This experience helps them learn that nobody is perfect and is okay to stop and set aside time for yourself when you’re feeling overwhelmed. They never want to go back home.
Libra: They are tired of being a people-pleaser and always trying to make everyone else around them happy, in turn neglecting their own feelings. For once, they want to be selfish, they want to reckless, and they want to ask for advice from people rather than always be the one to give it. The sign that always craves peace wants a little chaos to make up for a lifetime spent trying to avoid it. They really just hop on a plane to who knows where last minute with a hurriedly-packed bag and eventually land in a city that they’ve never even heard of, but still, the feeling of restlessness plagues them. They can’t seem to shake it until they finally find themselves sitting on a bench in a park at night with no company but the night sky, getting a strange feeling of comfort in their hearts as the stars and moon shine down on them as though to thank them for all of the sacrifices they make in order to keep their loved ones happy. This appreciation for all that they do was what they needed all along, not recklessness and selfishness as they had first suspected. They return home shortly good as new with apologies at the read for their friends and family who they neglected to tell they were leaving to begin with, and knowledge that their efforts are never unappreciated.
Scorpio: The Scorpio is misunderstood. People always pass judgement of them based on their appearance, generalize them when they only know one of their traits, and are deterred by the apparent intensity that they radiate. They are deprived of close relationships in that way, so they leave in hopes of findings friends or lovers that will finally understand, accept, and appreciate them. They probably travel by boat, drowning out their feelings in waves as they sit on the dock of the ship staring up at the moon and wondering if leaving on this trip is vain, wondering if they are just meant to be alone after all. While sitting alone, a person probably approaches them that they immediately feel connected to, and the two sit out all night talking to each other, learning everything about each other. By the end of the night, the Scorpio knows they have found the person that their  heart has been yearning for all this time, and the feeling is mutual. They wind up following the stranger wherever they go in the city, who welcomes their company. When they finally return home months later, they have the person they met on the boat hanging off of their arm with a ring on their finger.
Sagittarius: They have been planning to leave their whole life with a set goal in mind, anticipating it all the while, marking off the days on their calenders. They say their goodbyes to their friends and family and pack heavily because if things go they way they’ve planned, they aren’t ever coming back. They are probably travelling over a long distance, taking planes, trains, cars, bikes, the works until they finally arrive in the place they’ve been waiting to be in their whole life. They immediately get established their, finding a cheap hotel to hold them over while they go house-hunting, job hunting, and even lot hunting to see if they want to start up their own business. They have endless possibilities, really. They have never been more productive and more happy than they are in this city where they have a fresh start to set up their life.
Capricorn: Like the Sagittarius, Capricorn has had this place in mind for a while and they don’t intend on coming back either. They have always planned to go to this city and establish their new life and their career, but their plans are just a little less thorough than they should be because of their desire to hurry up and leave and begin anew. When they get they, they’re a little flustered because the place where they had planned to stay doesn’t have a vacancy, but they don’t let themselves get discouraged and are determined to find a place to stay. By the end of the night, they’ve already gotten themselves an apartment and find themselves in a department store at 4 am picking out the colors they’re going to paint their living room, working tirelessly to make their new home perfect for days until they finally collapse on the floor of the bedroom, overwhelmed with satisfaction at all they have accomplished in such a short time and dreaming up new goals as they fall asleep.
Aquarius: They originally meant to go on a weekend trip to a nearby town, but know that they’ve lost track of time when they wake up in a place they don’t even remember travelling to thousands of miles away from home. They go along with it though, travelling whenever the wind may carry them with a smile on their face the whole time. They love the unknown and willingly go to places they’ve never been, talk to people they’ve never met, and try things they normally wouldn’t dream of doing. They easily find themselves helping  strangers and becoming their friends, not having to get a hotel room anywhere they travel because new people love them way too much to have them go through the trouble and let them stay in their homes. They probably don’t come back for a year, and when they do, they may be unrecognizable, with new tattoos, a new hair style, and a new wardrobe, even talking with the speech patterns of the people they met on their journey.
Pisces: Like Scorpio, the Pisces is constantly misunderstand and generalized based on their strong emotions so often that they are never truly recognized and appreciated for all that they have to offer and spend their whole lives trying to prove that they are more than what they seem to be. This person leaves because they’re sick of trying to prove themselves to people who won’t listen to them, they know they have so much to offer, and they set out in search of freedom from preconceived notions about who they are. They take comfort in a far away place around people who don’t know them, and are relaxed and at their friendliest there. People are quick to become captivated by the Pisces, loving them for their poetic way of speaking and their charming demeanor. This person finds themselves on the beach more often them not painting the waves that crash against the shores and singing songs, finding comfort in the sea, who they feel understands them. They may never go back home.

In relation to that last ask, what if the Oikawa, Kuroo, Ushijima see their crush put on glasses for the first time (cos usually wears contacts) and their crush looks super adorable?

I love these because you know what? You look fucking amazing in glasses okay

Oikawa would pause. “[Name]? You wear glasses?” His crush would look over at him. “I normally wear contacts, but yeah.” He grinned and got out of seat, walking over. “You look adorable!” He would exclaim, crouching to see better. “They frame your face so well! It’s so cute!” He would ask for a few pictures of them together, because they were adorable. The next day, most of the girls at school were wearing fake glasses, his crush was back to contacts, and he continued to gush over how cute his crush was in glasses.

“Oooh are those real?” Kuroo would ask, stopping and spinning in front of them. They would nod, looking down. “You look great.” He would grin at them. “I think I like the glasses more than the contacts.” He would drop random compliments through out the day, and when he saw two people teasing them, he would grab their hand gently and start talking about how amazing they looked, purposefully pushing himself between them.

Ushijima would be surprised, but it wouldn’t show. It was obvious they were uncomfortable by the amount of people and what they were saying, mainly insults. So he sat with them at lunch, scaring off anyone who would have said anything. Before he left to go to practice, he would lean over. “I think you look amazing, ignore everyone else.” He would whisper softly into their ear, making them turn bright red. He had people check on them until school was over, and then made they got home safely. “You look perfect.” He would say quickly before leaving.

we the fireworks

It’s the morning after the night before and Louis doesn’t know how on earth he made it home in one piece but he reckons it maybe has something to do with the curly-haired stranger, standing half-naked in his kitchen. The problem is that this mysterious stranger, who has a huge secret and an even huger heart, doesn’t seem to plan on leaving Louis’ life anytime soon and doesn’t seem to be able to get it into his stupidly adorable, curly head that Louis is absolutely, utterly, completely, one hundred percent beyond help. Out of reach. Lost in the night.

Or

The AU where Louis needs saving and Harry wants to save him but doesn’t want to admit that maybe he needs saving a little bit too.

after hours

Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson are the bane of each other’s existences. Unfortunately, they’re already in love–even if they aren’t completely aware of this minor detail.

[A “You’ve Got Mail” AU]

bigger than life

“Boybander Harry Styles spotted leaving West Hollywood joined hand in hand with new beau, Xander Ritz”

His heart drops in his chest as he scrolls down, ignoring the short irrelevant article and looking desperately for a picture. Sure enough, there’s pap shots of Harry and Xander, walking hand in hand, looking drunk and cheerful and together.

And that’s—that’s really not what Louis was expecting at all.

here comes the sun (little darling)

louis and liam are a trapeze act who’ve just joined syco circus. despite his best efforts, louis immediately falls head over heels for harry, one of the jugglers with a penchant for glittery pink leotards. but louis’s had issues before with intra-circus dating, so he’s trying his best to ignore his feelings. which is why he’s not at all bothered by harry flirting with everyone but him.

featuring lots of pining, lots of ot5 friendship, runaway boys reconnecting with their families, harry and louis becoming co-dependent best friends until they figure out they’re in love with each other, liam fancying zayn who’s already dating perrie, and a beatles-themed circus.

cupid’s chokehold

But - naively, stupidly, blindly - Harry holds out hope for a love that’s written across the stars. He can’t give up the feeling that there’s someone out there, waiting for him.

He’s just going to have to wait for them, too.

Or: Louis is a Cupid who tries to match up Niall and Harry. It doesn’t work out as planned.

don’t tell the gods (we left a mess)

After a misunderstanding with Liam’s mother, Louis agrees to accompany his best friend to a family wedding and pretend to be the world’s best boyfriend. But their simple plan goes awry when he learns that Harry, ex-boyfriend/ex-love of Louis’ life, will also be in attendance. (aka: fake!boyfriends with a twist ft. bromance, romance and cake.)

smoke and mirrors

Louis and Harry meet on a night out and find they can help each other out by pretending to be a couple. It just might get Louis’ mum off his back and Harry’s maybe-ex to want him back. Simple plan, right? Wrong.

scoring position

Harry Styles hasn’t pitched a perfect game, but if he closes out this final inning, he’ll get the win and bring handsome soccer star Louis Tomlinson home.

[Or the one where they’re all athlete-type people (except Gucci model Zayn and overly-friendly sports journalist Niall) and long-fated lovers Harry and Louis finally get together after Liam plays in the Superbowl.]

the lunatic, the lover, and the poet

Louis Tomlinson, Harry’s long-time crush, shows up at summer Writing Camp. But, of course, like everyone else on the planet, Louis is interested in Veronica, not Harry.

the same ground

What if the one that got away came back?

do not go gentle into that good night

“If we leave right now they’ll never find us Lou, then it’ll be just you and me and the road.”

Louis turned and slammed his fist in the wall. “I fucking hate you!” he suddenly exclaimed, resting his head in his elbow. “Why here and why me? You couldn’t just fucking settle your ass in a different town and make someone over there fall in love with you?!”

or the one 1997 AU where Harry is a bank robber and Louis falls in love with him

I hate the way banking screws people over. But if your anti-banking message basically says “if you use banks at all you’re supporting a corrupt system, you should use only cash and boycott it and if you don’t do that then you’re two-faced” or something, you can fuck off. Do you know how hard it is to live without a fucking debit card these days? Especially if you’re stuck at home a lot due to disability? This modern world relies heavily on having a bank account, and some one can hate the ways banks punish the poor WHILE STILL HAVING A BANK ACCOUNT BECAUSE THEY HAVE TO SOMEHOW STILL PAY BILLS AND SUCH.

On a very similar note, not everyone has the option of going everywhere on a bicycle or using public transportation only. Yes I want a greener world too but I also want to eat and the only fucking way I can get to a grocery store is in a fucking car because there IS no public transportation here and I can’t ride a bike and I am FAR from the only one limited in their “socially progressive” capabilities.

So before you rag on some one for being “part of the problem”, recognize that the system traps people and there’s frequently no way around that. Instead support people who still use these things while wanting those things to change for the better.

… And definitely don’t rag on people for literally just LIVING in a place. I live in Texas, Texas frequently sucks. Don’t tell me to “just move somewhere else”, leaving my friends and family and home and spending a bunch of money I don’t have to totally uproot my life instead of me staying where I am and hopefully doing my part to change this place for the better. And northerners, y’all aren’t so perfect up there either so stop looking down one everyone else as if your system isn’t just as fucked up.

I was going to stick with just the issue of banks here, but seriously, I’m sick of ALL of these things. Stop making other progressive people feel guilty for the things they can’t fucking help or change all by themselves. You’re not better than them just because you pay for everything in cash while riding around your accessible city on a bicycle.
