A/N: Warning, this fic is garbage. Read with caution bc I swear I need help.
*Reader is best friends with Cheryl Blossom and good friends with Ethel Muggs… and literally everyone. You’re a fan of Overwatch and a low-key cosplayer, bruh. (I’m sorry, it’s a Halloween party might as well)
((Using she/her pronouns mostly bc I suck at writing, I just wanted to give Reggie more love and I failed))
“Y/N, you’re going to come to my Halloween party whether you like it or not. I’m not having one of my River Vixens mope and become a homebody.” Mentally screaming, I sighed and joined Cheryl as she stretched before the other girls came for practice. Cheryl Blossom’s been my best friend since we were kids. “Rich Kid Squad”, but I didn’t like hanging out with those other preppy shits. Jason and Cheryl were the only exception… They had my back and I had theirs in ways they never knew they needed. Since her twin brother’s death, I’ve done my best to help her cope. I guess my way of helping her is just being there and… joining the River Vixens.
“I already am, Cheryl, you know already that parties aren’t my kind of thing.” I replied, stretching my arms until I heard a satisfying pop from my elbow. Cheryl visibly cringed at the sound and continued to scold me like I was her child.
“Oh, please Y/N. You’re going and it’s final.”
She snapped at me and led me to the bleachers and sat down, patting the spot next to her.
“If you insist.” I sighed dejectedly. ‘My loot boxes will have to wait then… Daddy will have to wait,’ I thought to myself and tried to think of better days to lock myself in my room and level up on Overwatch with Reaper as my main.
“I know you’re thinking about your video games again, so I’ll make you a deal,” I stopped moping and stared at her, beckoning her to continue her sudden proposal because knowing Cheryl there’s always a catch.
“You can bring your video games and set up in the main hall,” I was about to scream. ‘Is she for real? Oh my gosh and she has a good wifi connection, a night without lagging! Huzzah!’
“But!” She interjected my notion. ‘Fuck my life, I knew it was too good to be true.’
“You have to dress up.” I scoffed and stood up straight. “You’re kidding, right? That’s it?”
“Yeah, why?” ‘That’s too easy, cosplaying is easy as pie Miss Cheryl. What’s really going on?’
“Cheryl, I know you. What’s the catch?”
“Okay fine, you have to bring a date and wear matching costumes.”
“Cheryl Blossom, you know I can’t talk to guys! What am I going to do? I’ve never been on a date, why are you doing this? Oh my God… I’m going to throw up.” I held my stomach, butterflies fluttering inside of me at the thought of asking a guy out.
“Y/N, calm down it’s not a big deal-”
“Uh, Cheryl yes. It IS a huuuuge deal! You know I hate talking to guys!”
“But, you talk to so many on that stupid video game chat whatever it is?”
“That’s different, they can’t see me.”
“Y/N. Listen up, you’re going to ask someone to the party and wear matching costumes. I’ll make sure to have the flat screen and your favorite snacks ready for you when you come, okay?”
“Fine… I’ll do it.”
“Good. And you don’t even have to hang out with him the whole night.”
“Well, that defeats the purpose of even having a date, but okay…”, tossing the conversation aside as the girls came into the gym, ready for cheerleading practice and more of Cheryl’s drama.
“Yup. Alright ladies, line up. We have to perfect this routine by tonight and if it’s not, we’ll be staying late so let’s get going.”
“Who do I even ask? I don’t even talk to any guys other than Archie, Kevin and Jughead. Archie’s going with Betty, Veronica asked Kevin and I highly doubt that Jughead would want to go to a party for Halloween, he’ll probably be working on his novel.” I ranted to Ethel Muggs, she’s my study partner for Chemistry and Statistics. Ethel laughed and quickly copied my notes from a day she missed when she was sick. We were in the library and it was just us two and the librarian and she didn’t mind us chatting away, we were her assistants so we were in the clear.
“I don’t know. At least you were invited.” I froze at that thought. ‘Dang it, I should’ve been more considerate. It’s Ethel, why am I so stupid? …Wait.’
“You wanna be my date?!” I blurted out. Her eyes widened and she shook her head no.
“No no no no Y/N, I am good as done. I don’t want to be anywhere near those dumb jocks.”
I sighed and nodded my head in understanding, she’s had it rough the past year and I should’ve known better.
“This is gonna suck so badly. I just wanted to spend the night with Daddy and-” Ethel cut my rant short.
“Daddy? Who’s that?” I froze. Did I really say Daddy out loud? In front of Ethel?
“Um… He’s no one, forget I said anything.” Flustered, I tried changing the subject. I felt the heat creep up my neck. ‘Damn my abilities to blush, it’s not cute!!’
“Y/N, I don’t know. Sounds interesting and kinky, if you ask me. Spill the beans, Y/N/N.” Her grin teasing me whilst she shuffled her papers around into a neat pile.
“Oh my gosh! Okay, he’s a character from this game I’m playing, it’s called Overwatch.”
“Wow… Didn’t expect a rich and preppy cheerleader like you to be the gamer chick type, I’m a bit surprised but not really because I saw those books in your bag. If I’m correct, those are called ‘manga’, right?” I blushed heavily and covered my face.
“I am not preppy! I’m a disgusting nerd. Don’t look at me.” Ethel laughs and starts packing her stuff.
“Well, thanks for the notes and I hope you find someone to take because God forbid you get on Cheryl’s bad side for not bringing a date.” I shook my head lightly as I chuckled, “Yeah, it’s no problem Ethel. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
She smiled and walked out of the library, leaving me alone with Mrs. Walker.
“You mind closing up today, Y/N?” She asked and tossed me the keys. I smiled and nodded yes to her.
“Yes, no worries Mrs. Walker. I’ll just study for a few more minutes before I go.”
“Thank you, sweetie. Have a nice day and good luck finding someone for the party.” She shuffled her way out the double doors and left me alone. Me and the books.
I stared down at my neat stack of chem worksheets and statistics notebooks and let out a deep sigh. 'I shouldn’t be stressing over something so small… Wait, did I pack my pepper spray?’
Ever since Jason’s death, my parents insisted that I carry a can of pepper spray. They even went as far as buying five bottles for me, wrapped with the instructions.
A thud broke me from my thoughts and I looked around. 'I'm… the only one in here, right?’
Reaching into my bag, I searched my bag for the small spray can. “Aw dang nabbit.” Opting for a No. 2 pencil, I rose from the desk and made my way towards where the sound came from.
“Hello?” I called out. 'Wow, am I dumb? I’m that stupid dumb bitch that gets killed in every horror movie that goes towards the danger.’
I heard another thud and a small scuffle, I stood behind a bookshelf holding the pencil firmly in my hand against my chest. 'Lord, please help me now.’
The scuffling grew louder and sounded like it was getting closer to me.
“AAAAHHHH!!!” I shouted, swinging my arm everywhich way prepared to stab whatever was there.
“OH SHIT! WAIT, STOP!” A firm grip caught my wrist and in a panic, I clenched my eyes shut and swung my leg at my assailant and kicked them, I don’t even know where.
“Ow… shit, you kick hard.” Realizing whose voice it was, I opened my eyes and yanked my arm away from him. 'Neighbor boy?’
Out of all the guys in Riverdale, I hadn’t thought of HIM to ask. 'It’s not like we talk so?’
“Reginald, what the heck are you doing in here? The library is closed.”
A/N: this is pretty much trash lmao but im turning it into a two or three-shot idk but yeah… it’s not good so I’M SORRY GUYS 😭

I opened the bedroom door and I see her back was towards me. She had no interest in getting to know me or even talking to me. She didn’t even turn around to look at me when I walked into the room. “Are you planning on ever talking to me or just giving me the silent treatment forever?” I chuckled, but I got no response from her. I noticed she had a few ear piercing and a bar through her ear. She slightly cocked head and gave me a sideways glance, before turning back looking at her lap. She doesn’t say anything to me still. I pull out a cigarette and light it which catches her attention.
“Oh my God.” She groans which a smile appears on my lips. “That’s disgusting.” I imagine that her face is twisted into a repulsive look. I started to laugh which causes her to turn around and finally look at me. “You think this is funny? You’re honestly holding a girl captive and you’re laughing about it? What the hell is wrong with you?” She asks with furrowed eyebrows and narrow eyes. I just smiled to myself.
“Well it got you to talk to me.” I remarked as I cocked a crooked smile. She rolled her eyes and let out a huff. She turns her face forwards and continues the silent treatment. “It’s not my fault your boyfriend lost my shit. You’re here because of him. Remember that.” I snapped back sternly.
“And I’m still here because of you.” She snaps back before she turns around and goes back to turning around.
“Do you have your phone?” I asked with a huff. She huffed with an eyeroll.
“No. Your dirty blond boy who wrestled me in here took my phone, car keys, wallet, pepper spray and a pack of gum.” She snaps at me which makes me sigh in annoyance.
“Well get comfortable here. You’re going to be here for a while.” Before I walk out of the room I stop in my tracks. “Stand up.” I ordered. She looked at me with confusion in her eyes. “Stand up. Now.” I demanded more sternly, but she still didn’t listen. I grabbed her by her arm and I yanked her off of the bed.
“Hey!” She screamed before I slammed her up against the wall. I noticed she had a tattoo of a yin yang symbol on her arm. I chuckled to myself before I pinned her against neck against the wall.
“Hey!” She screamed before I slammed her up against the wall. I noticed she had a tattoo of a yin yang symbol on her arm. I chuckled to myself before I made a pinned her against the wall.
“When I fucking tell you to do something you listen. Do I make myself clear?” I asked
with my jaw clench. I could feel her trembling in my arms. I slammed her up against the door where she lets out a small yelp. My hands immediately grip her small waist and I give them a good squeeze. I then turn her around and slam her body with her face towards the door annoyed. My hands roam over her body. My fingertips graze in between her thighs as I make my way up the rest of her body. I attempt to feel for an suspicious bumps on her. My hands reach her chest area and I press my body against hers and I smile into her neck. I decided to take advantage of the situation and I squeezed her boobs hard making her gasp.
“Hey!” He pushed me back and slapped me in the face hard. “I don’t have anything! My boyfriend, my phone, my keys, everything your stupid friends have! Get the fuck off me and leave me alone!” She shouts and shoves me back hard. I clutch my fist tight and clench my jaw.
“Yeah you’re not leaving anytime soon so you’d better start warming up to me sweetheart.” I hissed as I gripped her jaw in my grasp. I shoved her back against the wall as I search through the nightstand for anything that she may have brought with her.
“What will you do when they come looking for me? You know Justin knows where I am. He knew I was coming over here.” She says as a small smirk appears on her face. I slammed my right arm up against the wall right next to her head as now a small smirk appeared on my face.
“Justin may be stupid, but he’s not stupid enough to come for you. He’s more worried to protect his own ass to even worry about yours. He knows what we can do and he won’t risk it. Trust me, you’re going to want to get comfortable here sweetheart.” I sneered at her. I leaned back and I stormed out of the room after not finding anything but a lighter and some condoms in the drawers. I peeked into the room one last time. “Oh don’t worry about your clothes. Angie will probably be coming over so she can bring you some clothes.” I smiled and gave a taunting wave, before I locked the door behind me as I stomped to my room in need of another cigarette.
“Yeah you’re not leaving anytime soon so you’d better start warming up to me sweetheart.” He snaps at me as he shoved me back against the wall. He stomps out of the room and I hear his footsteps disappear down the hall. I could feel tears start to well up in my eyes. I stumbled to the futon and flopped down. I reached under one of the two pillows and I grabbed a picture of Justin and I.
We were lying on the cold grass of the late October grass. Fall was just settling in and I had my photographer friend, Maya, take a picture of Justin and I while I held a cigarette in his mouth. This was taken just a few months before we moved in together. A few months before he told me about the gang. A few months before he told me the truth about anything. I knew Justin did drugs, but a gang? I had no idea he was with a gang of the sort. Especially one ran by such a rude guy. I needed to get out of here. I knew Justin would miss me and so would my family and friends.
What did he mean when he said ‘my friend will take care of the rest so you don’t have to worry.’ Was he going to kill everyone I loved so he could keep me here as a sex slave of his? I didn’t want to wait around and find out. I shoved the picture back under my pillows as I scrambled off the bed and I looked around the room. I first tried the bedroom door and I jiggled the handle which not to my surprise, the door was locked. The leader guy had locked me in here. I look around the room and I see an air vent and I see that there is a window above where the dresser is. I decide to go try the window, because I knew nothing about air vents and I was not about to wiggle my way through dust and dead bugs just yet. I climb on top of the red lounge chair which was next to the dresser. I grab the corners opposite of me and I hoist myself on top of the wooden dresser. I look at the window which is super glued shut. I mentally kicked myself annoyed that I was in this situation. I was also becoming more and more frustrated. I knew I shouldn’t be freaking out since I knew Justin would be coming for me, but what if he was right? I mean Justin isn’t the most selfish guy, but he does look out from himself. But he told me not to come here, because he knew it would be bad news. I just needed to get out at this point.
I looked around the room thinking of any other ideas. I saw that there was a hammer in the corner of the dusty old room. I quietly jumped off the dresser and to my surprise, I landed on my feet. I scurried over and quickly snatched the hammer, only for the handle to slip and fall on the floor creating a loud thud. I knew they would come in here and see what was going on. I grabbed the hammer as quick as I could and I hopped into the bed sliding the tool under my pillows. I heard footsteps outside of the door as they shuffled back and forth. Soon they disappeared and I was back on my mission. I grabbed the photo and I shoved it back in my pocket. I climbed back on top of the wooden dresser. I looked around the window and I saw that only the bottom was glued down. I peeled what I could off, but then I just went for it. I smacked the hammer a couple times against the window and I even started to kick at the window. After a few attempts the glass cracks. I heard the glass cracking and on my last kick, my leg busted through the glass as I fell forward outside falling about 15 feet to the ground. Thankfully I fell on a soft long grass area. I stood to my feet before I looked around the area. I was in the backyard and I was surrounded by a six foot white fence. I knew what I had to do. I darted towards the fence for a running start. Just as I was about to jump, a voice boomed which caught me off guard and scared me.
“What do you think you’re doing Y/N?” He asked coldly.
Many witches hold that your actions return to you threefold. I myself have never believed this, having never witnessed anything of the sort born out in reality. Nevertheless, the idea of reaping what one sows is powerful, and most people have some concept of it in their minds. This makes it an excellent concept to utilize in defensive magick.
With this spell, you can create magically-induced consequences for a person’s malevolent actions. The spell will only take effect if the person continues their abhorrent behavior. If they do, it provides immediate repercussions that are difficult to ignore. Ultimately, the person will hopefully make the connection between the misfortune they’re experiences and their own behavior, and change their ways.
Tobacco (or another baneful herb that you’re comfortable using)
Sharp nails or other pointy objects
Something to represent the target
A small pouch or bottle.
Plastic wrap or a container
Don gloves to keep the pepper and tobacco at bay!
Begin by cutting the top off the pepper in such a way that it can be replaced like a lid. Then, hollow out the pepper as best you can, taking care to leave it as intact as possible. Then, very carefully, begin to line the edges of the pepper with the tobacco, packing it into the crevices as best you can to create a small layer of the herb just along the inside of the pepper. Be sure to leave the center of the pepper relatively clear.
Now, put the taglock inside the pouch or bottle.
Gently place the bottle containing the taglock into the center of the pepper. Add more baneful herbs to cover and surround it, stuffing the pepper until it is mostly full. Then, close it up by putting the top back on the pepper.
Next, take the nails and, with slow deliberation, stick them into the flesh of the pepper one by one, but be sure not to press too hard and damage the pepper. Once you have four or five nails stuck into it, you can begin empowering the spell.
Hold the pepper carefully and visualize the spell’s target as existing within a cage made of flames. They are quite safe within the cage, but if they move from it or attempt to strike at you again, they’ll surely be devoured. Once you have this image fixed in your mind, imagine the essence of it flowing out of your hands and into the pepper. Your spell is cast.
Disposing of the pepper and everything in it can be tricky. When I performed this spell as a teenager, I saved the pepper for a few weeks in a safe place, then buried it pepper in the forest near my college. This allowed the natural effects of decomposition to take effect, thus putting a realistic time limit on the spell and not turning it into some kind of life sentence within a fiery prison. There are ecological issues to consider, as well, though, and if you are not comfortable burying it, you might simply throw it away after the spell has produced the necessary effects.
I apologise for the clearly not proof read beginning of the last post, and I hope no one was offended by it. I had a bit of writers block when putting it together, but overcame it as I continued and so the beginning was not at all at the standard I had expected of myself. Sorry again. I’ll endeavour to put more care into this as I continue
But one more thing. A lot of people have posted shout outs to just bloggers that they like or mutuals they’re close with and I’ll do all of those in one long list. As for the rest of it, I want to showcase blogs who create original MTG content and who can’t quite reach the audience they deserve. Cool, all that’s cleared up, let’s go.
With a not yet fully realised series, Oracle of Kruphix boasts a unique insight into the story of magic as expressed through their plot analyses and reviews. Done mostly for their own sake, they state that with more readers will also come more in depth looks and critiques of the stories from a structural stand point, as well as by virtue of enjoyment.
Thrice is nothing if not an opinionated individual, however their best work comes in the form of customised Set symbols, graphics and other such things, created in photoshop for the program Magic Set Editor. Through this, they enable a greater scope of creativity in custom magic cards. What’s more, they’re even happy to mock up some cards for you, if you wish.
Vorthos Jay is incredible. With a seemly endless understanding of the ways of the multi-verse, especially in a pre-mending setting, they can answer any question you throw their way. Heck, if you’re not even sure what ‘pre-mending’ means, then they are absolutely your go to person. Even just spending an hour scrolling through their blog is like spending an hour in an MTG lore wiki. But, like, a good one.
Run by numerous members of the MTG tumblr community, MTG Fan Set is exactly what it says on the box. An MTG Set made entirely by fans of the game. You know what, each individual person people who is helping to organise it deserves their own shout out. They are @magicarasa as Project Lead, @conorace as Head Designer, @johannstrottman as Head Developer, @luckylooter as Rules Manager and @rosebuncat as Creative Manager. Each of them are incredible in their own right and it’s incredible to see them all come together like this. I’m sorry if I missed anyone.
If you’re a huge fan of pre-mending MTG humour and good art, I highly recommend Zomburai because that is what they do and they do it well. They even have commissions open, so I can’t help but suggest you peruse their art and then ask for them to make you some, if you have the money. They absolutely should have a larger audience than they do.
There are few blogs that surprise me, quite like this, with their content. Not to rag on people, all your stuff it great, but everyone once in a while you’ll see something so incredibly unique and you’ll wonder how 1) you never thought of it first and 2) they manage to maintain the same quality of content over time. To put it briefly, Sharuum’s Puzzle Box is a blog that pumps out puzzles based on real world interactions one may expect to find in a game of magic. Using real cards and somewhat realistic scenarios, you’re tasked with solving the problem presented. Most of them are beyond me. I’m not that kind of thinker. But if you love tight plays and undoing troubling scenarios and improving you problem solving abilities, they’re absolutely someone you need to check out. The fact that this paragraph is easily twice the size of any other person in this list and I don’t wanna stop gushing out them is a testament to how great they are.
Packed to the brims with their minis Papper Jaq is never afraid to sprinkle them about their posts adding an hint of character to their blogging that one might not normally see. However, in the area of content made, Jaq is just as an amazing artist in their own right. Like, to both the degree in which the Minis are amazing but also their full scale art.
Now this one might be pushing the whole ‘smaller blog’ because I don’t personally know their metrics, but I see them more often than a lot of these other blogs so please forgive me if I underestimate. Their commentary on the community and the way that the game presents itself and how it’s evolved is something completely unique to them and really needs to be read to be understood. Their most recent piece on The Collector as an often overlooked archetype of player is something I had never ever thought about and so speaks to their unique perspective. Definitely worth a read.
“The problem is Sakura-chan, and this is the way I see it, you have the right to ignore my love for you, but you ignoring me doesn’t stop me from loving you. I am dreamer Sakura and in this case, the only solution is for me to wake up. You’ve got to wake me up, you’ve got to reject me for real.”
Sakura who had been half-way through a ramen slurp choked momentarily on a noodle.
“Naruto, you’ve got to let a girl finish slurping before dropping that kind of talk on her.”
“Before you reject me. Give me a week.”
“Give me a week to win you over. If I can’t win your heart by the end of the week, you can reject me for good and I’ll move on forever.”
Sakura glanced over her shoulders to see if anyone at the
was eavesdropping on their suddenly serious conversation.
“Let’s slow down for a second Naruto, I’m still trying to process the unusual direction this conversation seems to be taking.”
“Sakura, I know this sound strange. But I’ve made this promise to myself to finally win your heart.”
“You made a promise to yourself?”
Naruto nodded. “Yes, as I watching watching you slurp I promised that I’d put everything I have on the line to win you over. But I need you to give me a chance. Give me a week.”
“Okay let’s summarize all of this. You, just now-made a promise to yourself to win me over in seven days.”
“If I can’t do it in seven days I’ll move on.”
Sakura looked at Naruto closely now, gauging his seriousness. “I appreciate the melodrama. I actually enjoy melodrama to be honest, but it’s not–”
“All I need from you Sakura is a chance.”
“You can reject me at the end of the week” Naruto interrupted. “No hard feelings.”
“I understand what you’re saying but–”
“We’ll still be friends, as close as ever, I swear.”
“That’s good to know bu–”
“One week Sakura, just give me one week.”
She sighed. “There’s literally nothing I can say right now that’s going to stop you from going through with this right?”
Sakura took a moment to consider this. “How do you plan on–.”
“I don’t know. But it’s gonna be romantic and it’s going to be memorable. I guarantee that it will blow you away.”
“Is it wise wise to make that kind of guarantee when you have no idea what you’re going to do?”
“If I knew how to win your heart Sakura, I would have already done it. But I am going to do it, I just need you to open to it. Just give me a chance Sakura-chan.”
Again Sakura paused to reflect. “You’ve….okay you’ve got a chance.”
