people stand up

ok

first of all: if you’re hating on jungkook for getting lines and more screen time and you’re saying horrible things about him, please choke :) wtf :) how are you so insensitive as to put down that boy (on stuff that doesn’t even have to do with him getting more lines, like his appearance wtf) when all he does is work hard? and the thing is he’s main vocalist, of course he will get lines– that is not an excuse as to bighit not giving other members (in this case: JIN) lines, BUT IT DOES NOT GIVE YOU THE RIGHT TO PUT DOWN A SINGLE MEMBER OF A GROUP

secondly: if you’re not complaining about jin not getting lines, when you complained about jhope not getting lines, the again, choke. the thing is, i see so many people standing up (not everyone obviously) for jhope and i was really happy because yes, same, it upset me quite a bit, but i understood; sometimes in a song, there just isn’t a sensible way to split songs etc etc. so yes i was sad and angry he didn’t get lines but i also understood. but for those people who got so angry, i don’t see a reason for you to not get EQUALLY as angry if jin didn’t get lines, because now that’s just wrong (AND THE SOLUTION ISN’T FUCKING HATING ON JUNGKOOK)

so, conclusion: please stop hating on someone who doesn’t deserve it, and start caring about ALL members of a group. thank you.

Demonstrations are NOT enough

Revisionist history says that everyone in Germany was totally cool with Nazism, but there were over 100k people willing to take to the street to protest the rise of Nazism in Berlin in 1932.

Even in a time where Nazism was the only platform estimated to bring Germany out of post-war poverty, this many people were willing to stand up against it.

The Nazis won because this energy was not sustained.

If yesterday was your 1st demonstration, don’t let it be your last! Don’t let it be your only method of resistance!

remember:

Many voices feel silenced today

(If you ridicule me and/or this comic, you’re only proving my point)

obama deported 3 million ppl. now that it’s gonna be trump doing the deporting, will white liberals finally start taking it seriously? what about american war crimes abroad – will white liberals finally put money into a unified opposition to our foreign policy now that trump’s gonna be the one killing kids with drone strikes? will liberals remember guantanamo exists now? will people stand up and actually support the next chelsea manning? will white people finally start pushing back against the distribution of military weaponry to cops? will all the clinton stans out there make a coherent effort to abolish the electoral college? or what??

I understand there’s been some confusion online as to whether it’s ever right to punch a Nazi in the face.  There is a compelling argument that all speech is equal and we should trust to the discourse to reveal these ideas for what they are and confidently expect them to be denounced and crushed out by the mechanisms of democracy and freedom.

All I can tell you is, from my perspective as an old English socialist and cultural liberal who is probably way to the woolly left from most of you and actually has a medal for services to free speech – yes, it is always correct to punch Nazis. They lost the right to not be punched in the face when they started spouting genocidal ideologies that in living memory killed millions upon millions of people. And anyone who stands up and respectfully applauds their perfect right to say these things should probably also be punched, because they are clearly surplus to human requirements. Nazis do not need a hug. Nazis do not need to be indulged. Their world doesn’t get better until you’ve been removed from it. Your false equivalences mean nothing. Their agenda is always, always, extermination. Nazis need a punch in the face.

(And the argument that such assaults allow Nazis to get more attention doesn’t work so well when they were already going live on a national television network, because this is where we are now. This is how normalised their presence in our culture is.)

Glad we got that cleared up.

This thread perfectly sums up why I’m not here for powerful and privileged, alleged “feminists” who bow out when things get tough. These are perilous times. Fascists and white nationalists are openly using their White House positions to oppress minorities, and white men and white women were an integral part of making that happen. So it’s hard not to see silence - especially of the rich and powerful - as anything but self-absorption at best, and complicity at worst.

We need all hands on deck.

NOW is the time for good people to stand up and speak out against Trump.

In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.“ - MLKjr

Privilege

When you think that there is not a problem simply because it is not affecting you.

As a human being we all have a duty to help others that suffer, even if you do not understand their suffering

This is what I think most of the current politicians on TV are forgetting. They’re far too concerned with bashing the opposition so that they can get into power instead of helping the people they are meant to represent.

Compassion, empathy and understanding are three of the most important emotions a person can feel because they combat privilege and encourage selflessness.

if you know information about tarjei and henrik’s personal lives you need to keep that shit to yourself and not spread it around on the false pretense of preventing rumors please and thank you

Happy 37th birthday Diego Luna! (29th December, 1979)

It’s [Rogue One] coming out at the right time, isn’t it? A bunch of people standing up against dangerous political figures.

Exactly. Standing up, saying “We’re going to take control of the reality we live in”. Which is this thing about the message that is important in the time that it comes. The genesis of Star Wars [1977] is also a message, a marker of that time. If you see what was happening in the country in the ’70s, clearly the first film is a reaction to that, and it was sending messages that mattered back then. So this film is also very Star Wars-ish. It’s talking about diversity, it’s rethinking the role of men and women, it’s exploring new subjects.

Trump actually won the presidency … Now I understand we can try to get him impeached but I got some things to rant about so excuse the caplocks…

FOR ALL Y'ALL WHO WERE ON MY FACEBOOK TELLING PEOPLE TO VOTE THIRD PARTY OR TELLING PEOPLE THEIR VOTE WOULDN’T MATTER LOOK WHAT HAPPENED. FOR ALL Y'ALL WHO WERE SAYING THE ELECTION WAS RIGGED AND SAYING “HILLARY IS GONNA WIN NO MATTER WHAT, DON’T SWEAT IT” LOOK WHAT HAPPENED. FOR ALL THE BLACK PEOPLE WHO DECIDED TO BOYCOTT THE ELECTION BECAUSE “WE NEED BLACK PEOPLE TO STAND UP FOR THEMSELVES” ALTHOUGH OUR LIVES ALONG WITH OTHER POC WERE LITERALLY ON THE DANG LINE. LOOK. WHAT. HAPPENED. THIS WAS NOT THE TIME TO SAY THESE THINGS. THIS WAS THE TIME TO VOTE FOR CLINTON BECAUSE WE CANNOT HAVE TRUMP. I UNDERSTAND BOTH CANDIDATES WERE AND ARE HORRIBLE. BUT MY GOD Y'ALL REALLY LET A CHEETO PUFF WITH NO EXPERIENCE WIN THE PRESIDENCY. Y'ALL REALLY LET A SEXIST, RACIST, MISOGYNIST, SEXUAL OFFENDER WIN THIS ELECTION. SO I HOPE Y'ALL GOT WHAT YA WANTED. DON’T COMPLAIN NOW BECAUSE YOU GUYS CAUSED THIS WITH ALL THAT FOOLISH TALK
