people shots

anonymous asked:

Watching a James Bond movie, I noticed James gets shot, winces a little and continues on as normal, bleeding and all. Is that plausible? Later in in the movie, he gets shot again, falls unconscious onto a river and survives with recovery. I've never been shot but I'd imagine that even if my body is pumping adrenaline, I would be in pain. Is there such thing as "getting used" to getting shot to the point where you can just carry on after an injury? I suppose it also depends on where you got shot.

No, or at least not through that logic. You don’t build up a tolerance for getting shot, but people can, and do, keep fighting through gunshot wounds.

It’s fairly common for someone to not realize they’ve been shot. Adrenaline actually deadens the sensation of pain, and so they’ll take a bullet, then begin feeling fatigue as they bleed to death and, eventually collapse. In situations where the bullet missed hitting anything vital, and the actual bloodloss is slow, they can remain functional for quite some time. This is one of the reasons you’ll frequently see characters checking themselves for injuries after a fight. This is also one of the reasons why you’ll see “professional” characters firing multiple shots in quick succession. It’s not that one bullet won’t get the job done, it’s that depending on where it hits, a single wound won’t stop their foe.

Even in situations where the bullet damages vital internal organs, like the lungs, it’s sometimes possible the victim still won’t realize they’ve been hit until after the fact. Ironically, this can include headshots, which are only lethal about 98% of the time.

So, getting shot, or hit by shrapnel, is something that you can, absolutely, keep fighting through. It’s not that you’re dealing with a character who’s so badass they can go through the pain, it’s that in most cases they do not know they’ve been hit. If there is an unrealistic element to this, it’s that Bond felt the hit, and responded to it, not that he could keep fighting afterwards.

what are some fics you think are underappreciated and what do you like about them?

This is really tough. I think most fics are underappreciated by ME; I haven’t been giving any fics much love lately

No Light by @giantbandgeeks was amazing. Katie put a ton of work into those characters and it was the first soul mates fic I ever came across

I say this all the time but I don’t know why people aren’t gushing over Vo’ke like all the time. Sometimes I’ll just be minding my own business and Harry and Scarlet and those damn wolves pop into my head and I curse @beggingforfics

All of the mini fics and one shots that people write always seem to slip under the radar. People don’t get enough recognition for the little things they write!!

according to the score, "Nhl to introduce four line challenge" for the all star game. it just sounds like a long-distance accuracy competition. why does the nhl hate fun? why does the nhl hate its fans? why won't the nhl just give the people what they want?

i really just am angry that they took out the one creative component. i mean the biggest event is always the hardest shot competition. but who goes in like “can’t wait for the accuracy comp”??? like people like the hardest shot because you can always break the record and it’s all about Shea trying to beat Chara. But literally someone got 4/4 with the accuracy comp before and like it’s just okay people cna only match that??? the breakaway challenge was really not like the NHL at all so i’m not surprised but…like i think it was Kypreos who said only 8 year olds and friedman will miss it and it’s like…but bruh…it’s the 8 year olds that are going to be fans their whole life. it’s the 8 year olds who are gonna decide to change the channel to a basketball game because he never got to see the players do anything actually cool. but whatever the NHL is more concerned with like fucking gatekeeping their audience as opposed to entertaining them.

?? bish what the fuck are you even talking about i never even posted about dylann roof in my life i hate him with all my heart ?????

edit: is this about when i replied to that post with “anyway both dylann roof and dylan klebold can eat me the fuck out” because omg… do know that ‘x can eat me out’ is a rude exclamation right….its meant the same way as “suck my dick”… oh hunny. catch me outside, how about that?

Not a word in the news about this. Totally disgusting. All happened at the Back Water Bridge on MLK Day, a National Holiday. Thanks to Martin Luther King these bullets were rubber, there were times when people were shot dead for speaking out.

These days the Native American people still continue to save their land and protect their water. God bless you, warriors, stay safe.

The media is silent. #NoDapl hasn’t stopped. People need to stay woke.

Several people requested more detailed shots of my room. It’s “clean” and I’m happy to oblige so I too know what it looks like when it’s relatively organized.

Haikyuu - Criminal AU

This au is thought up by two artists, @nekokat42 and me, we’re not trying to write so the AU is just a bunch of events without an actual plot (for now- we’re open to collaborate w/ writers tho ^^)

The au is very violent and very sad. If you don’t like seeing your favs getting hurt, it’s probably not for you!

the HQ teams are criminal families. The captains are heads of these families.

The characters are aged up to mid thirties, the youngest is Akane at 18.

There are big time gaps between these events:

Christmas Present Exchange

Request: Can you do a Christmas one?

Your family was one of those families that went all out for Christmas.  The decorations were put up the morning after Thanksgiving with Christmas music blasting through the house 24/7.

You couldn’t complain, Christmas was one of your favorite holidays.  You loved the atmosphere that surrounded the holiday season and the Christmas movies playing all day was a blessing.  But your favorite thing about Christmas was going out and buying gifts for your friends and family, and then seeing their reactions when they open their gifts.

I’ve started a new side blog, Pippin Noodle, strictly dedicated to cute pictures and videos of my kitten, Pippin.  After 2016 being such a rough year, I’ve decided that I want to do something positive and upbeat to put some joy back into the general ether for 2017.  And what better way to do that than by sharing pictures of a kitten who never fails to make me smile?  So stop by  @pippinnoodle for your daily dose of orange tabby kitten and let a bit of therapeutic cuteness wash away some of the stress of your day.

Pippin Noodle updates at least twice daily with new pictures and/or videos.
