pentecostal girl

I thought the pants story was going to be about the pants themselves for a second. I grew up Pentecostal and Girls Do Not Wear Pants. Something about showing the shape of your legs and it being sinful. If you couldn't do something in a knee length or longer skirt, then God just didn't intend for girls to do that thing. They never adequately measured my question about how bare skin from the knee down was less sinful than fabric all the way up and down that reminds people pubic bones exist.

I like the use of the word “reminds” here because like

the people looking at someone wearing a skirt know they exist

but if covered over

they ain’t there

maybe calves are all there are to a woman’s lower body

who knows

nobody when skirt is involved

To Every Pentecostal Girl

I hope you are loving your uncut hair, for that is made as your covering for the glory of God. But no, I don’t condemn anyone who cuts her hair, I just pray that time comes you’ll appreciate it.

I hope you find yourself wonderful wearing long skirts, sleeved shirts because I do. I love your simplicity and I am in awe every time I see a girl confident in her modesty. The word “holy” is a lot cooler than “sexy.”

You don’t need some colors on your face because the Holy Spirit brightens up your aura and your smile is contagious. You are beyond price value that no gold, silver or diamond would increase your cost. But the blood of Jesus flows in you that makes you above any woman who idolizes jewelries.

You are a woman of substance and your holiness is what makes you really special!
