Norfolk Southern’s Erie Lackawanna heritage SD45-2 number 1700 leads train 10N across the Conemaugh River in Bolivar, Pennsylvania. Arrangements were made for the locomotive to lead this train from Conway towards Allentown rather than dead-in-tow. It will soon be back at its home assigned terminal, Oak Island, New Jersey. Railfans take note-photo taken at 5:39 p.m. today.
Today we say farewell but not goodbye to locomotive engineer Robert L. Hoover who has been part of our family since 1974. Bob made his last run today on the 228. Bob started out with Penn Central and enters into the world of retirement today in Harrisburg, Pa. Best wishes to our railroading teammate embarking upon this new chapter of his life. And one last time….“Notch 8, don’t be late!”
