anonymous asked:

do you know any western cartoons that feature memorable e/se characters? all I can come up with are: Avatar/Korra, Samurai Jack, American Dragon Jake Long, Pucca, and so on

Hi! Tbh, this is a tough question, because I don’t really watch a lot of animation or animated shows… Aside from the examples you’ve listed, there’s that old Hanna-Barbera Saturday morning cartoon The Amazing Chan and the Chan Clan (from the same line-up as Scooby-Doo and The Archie Show). Keye Luke provided the voice for Mr. (Charlie) Chan.

Speaking of protagonists, all I can think of right now are Hiro Hamada and GoGo Tomago from the upcoming Big Hero 6: The Series (Premiering on Disney XD in Fall 2017) and Marinette Dupain-Cheng (superhero Ladybug) from French animated show Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir (second and third seasons are in progress).

Then there are Jubilee from X-Men: The Animated Series and Katana from DC Super Hero Girls, Hay Lin from W.I.T.C.H. and Yumi Ishiyama from Code Lyoko. Neither of these is the main protagonist, but they’re all are in the core cast of their respective shows, as far as I’m concerned.

If anyone knows more to this list, feel free to add or drop a message!

Also, We Bare Bears!! Created by an actual Asian (Korean) American animator. The anti-bear sentiment itself is meant to mirror anti-Asian sentiment, but it also stars Chloe Park, a Korean American child prodigy, who’s the most important character after the bears.

cartoon of the week :1

Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero

This weeks cartoon is a personal favorite and of the time writing this it recently  ended. Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero is about penn zero (the main character) and his friends traveling to different dimensions to save the world and keep the balance between good and evil.

The shows characters are fairly well written and have good chemistry. the comedy isn't burst into tears funny but it leaves you with a smile who knows it might be your style, but hands down the best part of the show is the idea and the way it was handled their always in a new place but it still feels like the same show. Since it takes place in different dimensions the ideas are endless and there are some really interesting worlds its fun to see what’s next. My only complaint about the show was the pacing since it ended so early they couldn’t tell the full story and the ending seems rushed I wish it could of lasted longer. In all its a amazing show and It had some real potential.

“A message to the cast, crew, and the fans.”

Sam Levine!

A million thanks for creating Penn Zero! I couldn’t thank you and your team enough for making such an awesome and fun show, and I am so amazed at all of the hard work and effort that your team puts into it. The fans truly appreciate it! Most of all, I sincerely thank you for being incredibly nice and giving us time to interact and share thoughts, and also for believing in us. You inspire us to support the show! Thank you so much for the memories, the brilliant stories and animation, and the characters. The moments when we share GIFs on Twitter are priceless! I really hope you have a wonderful day, and I’m sure all of the fans would agree!

Penn Zero is the main reason why I joined Tumblr, and I want to thank everyone. Every single one of you! It’s very exciting for me to learn new stuff; but also, thank you all for reblogging the GIF posts I’ve made because you’re all doing me a favor of promoting the show even more, especially to other fan bases. I truly encourage everyone to keep posting more Penn Zero-related stuff (screenshots, GIFs, fan art!) to give more people an idea on how great this show is.

I can’t wait for Season 2 and I’m looking forward to seeing more fun adventures the characters will have. Also, the fan base will have my continued support, as always, for the next season.

P.S. Thanks so much again rinnysega for this awesome challenge! I had so much fun making GIFs! And also, you have incredible cake decorating skills! I haven’t forgotten the flurgle burgle cake and the cupcakes you’ve made from before and hopefully we get to see more in the future!

I have to admit, I’m the slightest bit disappointed that they went to the same worlds a few times in Penn Zero. It kind of gives the whole ‘infinite universes’ concept a smaller feel, especially since it was in the first season too
