This is my entry to the Penguin Design Competition 2011.
One Hundred Years of Solitude - Gabriel Garcia Marquez
The orange and yellow are motif colours Marquez uses to connote destruction and transience. Two characters in the novel face the firing squad - That is what the cover depicts. The golden fishes are featured prominently in the work, also.
The other book in the competition is James and the Giant Peach and frankly I think I prefer that one. I might take a shot at illustrating the cover to that, as well.
