A hardman for nearly every kind of race, Sylvain Chavanel of France performs well from spring to fall and in between all season long. Here he rides in the main breakaway on Bastille Day, July 14, 2013, during the 100th Tour de France. (That’s a custom-painted Tarmac SL4 made just for him; it complements his matching Chevy Camaro.) #pelotonmag #TdF #TdF100 #TdF2013 #TdF13 #tourdefrance #cycling #procycling #bikes #bicycles #France (Photo: Yuzuru Sunada) Go to pelotonmagazine.com for Tour de France news, results, analysis, features. After the race. Belgium’s Maxime Monfort tries to collect himself after a grueling stage 18 of the 2013 Tour de France. The queen stage featured several categorized climbs, including two ascents of Alpe-d'Huez, a first for the Tour. Photo by Yuzuru Sunada for #pelotonmag #TdF (at @pelotonmagazine at Tour de France)

Stage 20: 2009 Les Racines Gigondas from Les Pallieres: an earthy, mineral-driven blend of Grenache, Syrah and Clairette from vines that at 65 years of age could legitimately carry their AARP card. It’s these old vines in France that often impart so much of the wine’s complexity. Red fruits are balanced with forest floor aromas and the palate matches. #instapour by @clivity for #pelotonmag (at @pelotonmagazine at Tour de France)

Stage 17: 2010 Les Fils des Gras Moutons Muscadet Sevre et Maine, Muscadet represents the western edge of the Loire Valley and creates one of the region’s signature wines. Near the town of Nantes by the Atlantic coast Muscadet Sevre et Maine produces the world’s perfect oyster wine. Bone dry with citrus and limestone aromatics, the palate exhibits, lemon zest, and a nearly saline quality. #Instapour by @clivity for #pelotonmag (at @pelotonmagazine at Tour de France)
