“We are delighted and honoured to be able to share these captivating photos of Brad and Angelina on their wedding day with their children and other close family members and friends in attendance,”HELLO!’s editor-in-chief Eduardo Sanchez Perez said. “We wish them all the very best for the future.”
As the incredibly natural photos show, the pair chose to marry in a ceremony on 23 August that was as simple as it was intimate. There’s the first look at Angelina in her breathtaking wedding gown by Luigi Massi of Atelier Versace, the veil covered with artwork by her and Brad’s children - Maddox, 13, Pax, ten, Zahara, nine, Shiloh, eight, and six-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox.
“It was important to us that the day was relaxed and full of laughter. It was such a special day to share with our children and a very happy time for our family,” Brad and Angelina told HELLO!.
When Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie went about planning their big day, they didn’t have to look far to find the perfect wedding planners: their six children. The intimate Aug. 23 ceremony – attended by just 20 friends and family members – was held in the chapel of Château Miraval, the family’s estate in the French village of Correns. The wedding – including exclusive photos of the ceremony, Jolie’s unique dress (decorated with her children’s artwork!) and the entire family’s celebration – is featured in this week’s issue of PEOPLE, in conjunction with Hello! magazine internationally. Each child had a key role to play: Eldest sons Maddox, 13, and Pax, 10, walked their mom down the aisle; flower girls Zahara, 9, and Vivienne, 6, tossed petals gathered from the garden; and Shiloh, 8, and Knox, 6, served as ring bearers. The kids also helped write their parents’ vows. And Pax baked the cake!
“It was important to us that the day was relaxed and full of laughter,” Pitt, 50, and Jolie, 39, tell PEOPLE. “It was such a special day to share with our children and a very happy time for our family." Even Jolie’s dress was an expression of her kids’ creativity: Luigi Massi, the master tailor at Atelier Versace, sewed dozens of designs from her children’s drawings into the dress and veil.
"Luigi is like family to me and I couldn’t imagine anyone else making this dress,” says Jolie. “He knows and cares for the children and it was great fun putting it together."
Pitt wore a suit from his closet – with a tie borrowed from one of his sons because Pitt forgot to pack his. Zahara’s dress was designed by family friend Adama Kebe. Maddox, Pax, Shiloh, and Knox wore black suits (Shiloh’s included shorts and a top hat), and Vivienne wore a white dress from her closet. Jeweler Robert Procop, who designed Jolie's engagement ring, created the couple’s wedding bands.

Hollywood’s most famous couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie got married on
The intimate ceremony was held at the Château Miraval, which is family’s estate in the French village of Correns.
Only 20 people were in attendance, including theit 6 children, Brad’s parents and siblings, Angelina’s brother and Brad’s close friend director David Fincher.
The kids were heavily involved in the ceremony: from drawing on Angelina’s Versace dress and veil, to baking the cake and writing the vows.
The couple told Hello, “[The children] picked their clothes and their duties. They all took it very seriously. Knox practised carrying coins and acorns on his little pillow before he got the ring.”
Maddox, 13, and Pax, 10, walked their adoptive mother down the aisle
Shiloh, eight, and Knox, six, served as ring bearers while Zahara, nine, and Vivienne, six, threw petals.
The timing was ‘not some happy accident’ as it marks the 10 year anniversary of Brad and Angelina filming Mr & Mrs Smith together.
Pitt supplied the background music himself, humming the ‘Wedding March’.
Later, the wedding party enjoyed a cake baked by one of the couple’s kids, and shared a “home-cooked provincial-style meal.”
After a short family honeymoon in Nice, the Jolie-Pitts headed to Malta on Wednesday to start shooting By The Sea, a film written and directed by the Oscar-winning actress, and the second in which they both star.
