Mermaids

Take a moment and think about mermaids. Think about mermaid who live in the waters of Hawaii, with eyelashes made of sea-foam and tails the color of the sun. Think about mermaids sitting on the bottom of the ocean, watching the surfers above them in fascination and pointing out the patterns and designs on the bottom of their boards like children pointing out stars.

Think about mermaids in the Mediterranean being able to ‘speak human’ but they can only speak the dead languages. Think about Mediterranean mermaids still following old trade routes that ships from thousands of years followed to get from one place to the next.

Think about mermaids from the deep sea, odd colors illuminating off of their skin and tails. Think about them with skin nearly transparent and eerie smiles of teeth like needles and claws. Think about deep sea mermaids with bioluminescent tails three times the length of man.

Think about mermaids the size of whales, their upper body seeming like that of giant. Think about these mermaids swimming in large pods and helping out the smaller mermaids, fascinated by their loose, feathery tails in contrast to their relatively short stiff ones. Think about these mermaids trying to copy the smaller mermaid’s swimming patterns with quick flicks of their tails and instead sending a large splash at a nearby boat.

Think about mermaids in the tropics, with fancy fins that seem to ripple and blow in the current, creating illusions of movement to people above. Think about mermaids with fins that look like feathers who like to jump out of the water as if they’re flying before diving back into the sea in giggles. Think about topical mermaids with tails that reflect the colors of the sky and color the ocean with colors that people never thought the ocean could turn.

Think about mermaids in rivers who slither across the floor of the water like snakes and pinch at peoples toes like crayfish. Think about these mermaids living by huge waterfalls, the ones with dams built over them having long since been abandoned in favor for some other point of the river, even if it isn’t a traditional waterfall home. Think about river mermaids meeting with river spirits and nymphs and discussing daily events while listening to motorboats jet past above them.

Think about mermaids who live in creeks made from inland glacial melt in places like Glacier. Think about them sitting contentedly under a long thin waterfall, watching as cars march across the windy road far far above. Think about them writing messages on the cliff walls with the rocks from the bottom of their creeks. Think about them with short but pliable tails that they use to flit over rapids and jump playfully over bridges surpassing their domain.

Think about mermaids who live in streams of glacial melt in places like Greenland. Think about them being able to watch the stars above them in fascination through the clear blue water. Think about them dodging through the inside of large icy glaciers, sleeping on thick sheets of ice that seem to just barely be holding onto the glacier but which their family has slept on for years. Think about them with tails so blue that they seem to glow even when they’re twenty feet underwater, a melody of pastels.

Think about mermaids in the far north, with eyelashes frosted over and lips as blue as the water around them. Think about mermaids in the far north with tails of dark blues, purples and silvers. Imagine them breaking through the ice whenever their waters freeze over and rolling around the top of it in jest, laughing as they skid and slide across the ice. Think about mermaids in the far north who speak in tongues to trolls who live in caves in cliff-faces.

Think about mermaids in the north so old they remember vikings and teach the young Old Norse, believing it to still be the language of the people in the region. Think of mermaids in the Mediterranean that remember the epics that they heard rhapsodes sing of back in the fifth century.

Think about jellyfish mermaids with trailing tentacles instead of tails. Think about them with large umbrella-shaped bells wrapped around their waists like skirts. Think about these mermaids using their tentacles to jokingly sting each other, but never going towards a fish-mermaid in fear of stinging them. Think about jellyfish mermaids with bioluminescent bells and skin with patterns and designs unique to each one of them.

Think about mermaids who live in lava. Because, you know, why not? Think about them with tails of liquid precious metals. Mermaids with tails of liquid gold, nickel, diamonds, and obsidian; their tails not having a definite form and bits and pieces of them flying out into the lava. Think about their tails solidifying as soon as they make contact with water, pulling them down to the bottom of the ocean where they’re forced to live until they die. Think about them daring each other to flip their tails out into the air, seeing who can stay out of the lava the longest and not have their tails solidify.

Think about space mermaids. Think about mermaids who live in the seas of Titan, living in a sea of methane and ethane while watching the thick orange clouds circle above their heads. Think about mermaids on Enceladus, living deep in the interior next to the warm water. Think about adventurous mermaids swimming up into the cooler waters to try to see the ice fountains on the planet’s icy surface, most of them being sucked out and launched into space.

Think about mermaids on Europa. Think about them living in the ocean between the icy surface and the rocky interior. Think about the mermaids grabbing rocks from the interior and scratching long lines across the surface so as to play games and replicate the linear fractures on the surface. Think about these mermaids who live in the deep black darkness of the ocean, but swim up to the thinner parts of the ice sheet of the planet to watch the stars and galaxies light up around them when they aren’t facing Jupiter. Think about these mermaids having different constellations that they point out to others, different myths based off of them and how they arrived in the sky.

Just think about mermaids.

Yuri on ICE

Okay but guys remember how Viktor revealed that the part where the drums start is the part where Viktor became Yuri’s coach in the previous episode?

That just made the song so much deeper for me.

The first part where only the piano is heard, represents when Yuri was all alone and depressed and lacked all confidence.
Then, Yuri meets Viktor, and the drums start playing. Notice how the piano starts to get so much more upbeat and how perfectly it flows along with the drums? That is the part where Yuri really starts to develop himself as a person; the moment Viktor came into his life.

And then, the drums leave for a moment, and the piano suddenly get’s so much slower. I feel like this represents Yuri being alone with his thoughts again, trying to figure out why he was suddenly feeling so “upbeat”and happy, because it confused him.
Then, as the piano starts to pick up the pace again, that is the moment that he finally begins to realize: his true feelings for Viktor. His feelings of love.

Then, the drums kick in again, Yuri opens up to Viktor about his feelings and Viktor “meets him where he is”, playing along with the pace the piano is already in to create the most beautiful music.

Together they create such a beautiful harmony. The piano and the upbeat drums.  Yuri and Viktor. Yuri on Ice.

Thaw ( a selection)

“Lieber has always held a passion for ice, having travelled countless times to Arctic Norway, Iceland and Greenland. In the summer of 2016, he partnered with the Scott Polar Research Institute in Cambridge for an expedition to the Arctic ice cap. The photographer’s aim was to depict the swift rate of the environment’s continual changes. During his expedition, Lieber flew over deep blue lakes capturing remarkable images. Due to the expense of helicopter flight, he photographed from a twin-engine plane, which was described as a challenge for the pilot and the photographer. The resulting images that constitute Lieber’s ‘THAW’ series live from his passion for nature and understanding of the severity of climate change.”

so i just read @birlcholtz’s nhl!bitty au where bitty joins the falcs after graduation, and i was thinking.

the rpf community within the hockey fandom is pretty thriving. we already know that holster and ransom have found fic about jack.

so i think that in the omgcp universe (or, this au of an au), with bitty being so cute and relatively tiny for a hockey team, surrounded by all these giant dudes who are pretty affectionate with him, there’s probably a LOT of fic about bitty and his much taller, dark-haired boyfriend…

…tater.

seriously. tater’s probably the type to just pick up bitty and sit him on his lap. or plant a kiss on him in the middle of the ice after bitty scores. (see: crosby/hornqvist’s deeply passionate moment on the ice last year.)

certain types of hockey fans would eat that shit right up. there are 18468 coffee shop aus. aus where one of them plays for a rival team. locker room meet cutes.

bitty/jack is a rarepair.

Passion is a strong addictive drug. It flows through your bloodstream like a broken dam. It pounds on your heart with fire and ice. Passion feels great, but you have to understand that like all powerful things; it will fade. Don’t depend on passion to save you because passion is a fleeting, but instead learn to live without it. Because at the end of the day, if you need passion to do what you love, then do you really love it?

the main reason I love alex ovechkin is that he’s so unapologetic for who he is?? he’s a really really good player and he knows that very well, and he loves himself and isn’t afraid to show that to people. still, he isn’t selfish, he cares about others - his teammates, fans etcetc. and it’s wonderful

and i’m like…..so done seeing people call him a douche for recognizing the talent in himself and bringing that up. besides, he wouldn’t be where he is now without the effort his brother sergei, who passed away when alex was 10, put into getting him to practice and I think that most of his love for himself and his talent is also love for his brother. one of his childhood friends has even said that sergei is the reason why alex is so passionate on the ice and I just?? how COULD you still dislike this man

@townterror.

look at me & my little son hayato. having a fantastic time!!! we’re watering the yard.

speaking of my yard…. look how good it looks!!! the grass is growing very well this year. i’m so glad!! :D

Hello! Could you please do some RFA + Saeran imagines with MC taking them to the skating rink on Valentine’s day? Thank you, love your imagines a lot^^ @chen-meilin

Yoosung:

  • It was really an impromptu idea to go ice skating
  • Yoosung and you were walking around with hot drinks in hand (from your cafe date) when you both saw that the skating rink was open
  • It was only early afternoon, so why not? There was a lot of time to kill before dinner
  • Yoosung paid for both entering fees (so gentlemanly!)
  • You both got laced up and ready to go!
  • Luckily both you and Yoosung knew how to skate decently and it was really cute even though you acted like every other couple in the rink
  • He held your hand and pulled you along with him, just enjoying talking and spending time with you
  • Leans down to kiss your nose a lot because “It looked cold!”
  • If you got separated from him at any point and see you from a distance, he’d hold his arms wide open for you to skate into, resulting in a big hug!!
  • Skating was a lot of fun!
  • In fact, by the time you both left it was sundown
  • “We should go skating next weekend, MC!”

Jaehee:

  • She’d love to go ice skating for Valentine’s!
  • The only problem is that she’s a little worried because the last time she’s skated was as a child
  • But right when she hopped onto the ice, it was like she never stopped
  • Baehee’s got this
  • She’s having so much fun doing spins and twirling with you, her smiles and laughter is so contagious
  • Luckily for the both of you, there was a cafe in the arena so she definitely stopped there for a break
  • There was a couple’s deal for coffee too! Buy the Valentine’s themed drink with your partner and get them both half off!
  • “MC COME HERE I’M GOING TO GET TWO DRINKS FOR THE PRICE OF ONE”
  • The coffee was a rich chocolaty flavor and the swoosh of warmth in your stomachs was so refreshing
  • After the coffee break you and Jaehee skated together for another hour or so before leaving
  • “I almost forgot how fun ice skating was! We should go again sometime.”

Zen:

  • He’s down for Valentine’s ice skating
  • He actually learned it sometime in the last year for a role where the character he played was an ice skater so Zen was still pretty passionate about ice skating
  • The producers had professionals teach him how to skate so he was really good at it
  • Zen will totally make the whole date as romantic as possible, holding your hand constantly and kissing said hand
  • “Babe, are you cold? Here take my jacket!”
  • Lowkey showing off his skills to you by trying to teach you some of tricks he’s learned
  • This sweetheart will also make sure you don’t get hurt
  • Accidentally slipped? Not happening babe, he’s gonna catch you
  • So happy when the couple’s skate starts and sings to you softly while skating with you around the giant heart they illuminated in the middle of the rink
  • When you get really tired, it’s time to head home
  • But right when you reach the outside, he pulls you in for a deep kiss
  • “I had a fun night tonight, I love you.”

Jumin:

  • “Ice skating for Valentine’s Day?”
  • “Yeah!! It’ll be really fun, Jumin!”
  • You bet he rented out the entire rink much to other’s couple’s dismay for Valentine’s Day
  • While you knew how to skate, Jumin did not
  • He insisted on having a trainer come out and teach him but you happily said that you could teach him
  • Jumin liked that idea more because you were so sweet and patient with him
  • Your hands were always securing his balance unless he was trying to skate a short distance
  • It took a little while, but he could keep up with you now!
  • Relaxing romantic music played in the arena while you and Jumin idly skated about while talking
  • He actually found ice skating quite fun with you, maybe he should try this more often
  • “Thank you, MC. I would have never gotten to experience this if not for you.”

707:

  • The local lake froze over and dammit Saeyoung wanted to get his fill on the childhood he never got
  • So he dragged you there on Valentine’s day at midnight, where there would be no people around
  • Admittedly, it was a little creepy being in an empty park but thankfully they kept the lights on around the lake in case that wackos like Saeyoung come at midnight
  • He had his skates on in a flash and got frustrated when you took too long, so he did them quickly for you
  • Right when you were ready, he ran onto the ice
  • This guy is such a big show off, he’s doing jumps and twirls with a huge smile on his face
  • “AM I I LIKE THE GUYS FROM YURI ON ICE YET, MC??” he yells over to you
  • He’s so goofy, chasing you around the lake and trying to tackle you
  • You’re so happy to see that he’s having a good time, it’s worth the cold and tiredness
  • Around 3am was when he deemed too tired to continue
  • He skated up behind you, wrapping his arms around your neck and resting his chin on your shoulder
  • “Thanks for letting me fill in my missing childhood, MC. This was the best Valentine’s Day so far.”

Unknown:

  • “What’s Valentine’s Day got to do with ice skating?”
  • He wasn’t so fond with being in a crowded rink so you took him to a lake deep in the woods where nobody really went
  • It was serene and beautiful surrounding
  • You laced up your skates and Saeran’s as well since he didn’t really know how
  • He didn’t really know how to skate either since he never got the opportunity to
  • You carefully guided him around, but he was still having a lot of trouble
  • It took a good portion of your time there to teach him how to skate on your own, but he admitted that he kind of liked you constantly holding him
  • So even when he learned, you still held on to him
  • When he got tired, it was time for a break! You packed hot chocolates in the thermos and boy did they warm you up
  • “Thank you for taking me here, MC…Happy Valentine’s Day? That’s what I’m supposed to say, right?”
