BRGR Co. Is a bespoke burger restaurant, with a refined twist. I visited their location on Wardour St in the heart of London’s Soho. The cosy space has dim lighting and plain features, keeping it as simple as their menu. No fluff or fuzz, burgers are what’s on offer, vegetarian, chicken or beef, they recommend a premium butchers cut or a ground steak patty, cooked to order. Starters or sides and toppings or dips, it pretty much let’s the diner assemble as they please. Devils or hunters dip for the adventurous or a creamy Cajun spiced aoili. The savvy wedge salad, their take on vegetable crisps in a provolone cheesy sauce and crisp buttermilk onion rings. Their parmesan fries were smothered in a rich cheesy sauce and tossed in truffle oil. Burgers were juicy, the brioche buns sweet and light. Only four desserts on offer, I sampled a sort of cheesecake sundae. A heavenly mix of strawberry coulis and crumbly biscuit layer. On weekend there’s even a burger centric afternoon tea to splurge on with a glass of fizz. A smart move upgrading the humble burger joint, pitching to a more sophisticated Soho clientèle.
