paper streamers

Surprise!

Based on this prompt.

Harry couldn’t help but snicker at the outraged expression on Draco’s face.

“What in the name of Merlin is going on?” he grumbled as he wiped off the confetti of his shoulder.

“Well,” Harry began, trying hard not to laugh out loud. That would only make Draco angrier. “It seems we walked right into a Muggle parade.”

Draco huffed, grabbing the hem of his shirt to shake off more confetti. Harry’s eyes immediately fell to his exposed stomach, making him gulp. The urge to touch Draco was getting stronger every day now.

Mother’s Day      She Gets It From You

Bucky Barnes had no idea what time it was, but he knew it was way too early for a pair of blue eyes to be staring him in the face.

“Becca, go back to bed,” he mumbled, pulling the covers over his head. He felt the bed dip as his daughter climbed up and cuddled against Bucky’s blanketed form. A small hand stroked the top of his head, and he couldn’t help but smile. He pulled the covers off and greeted his little girl.

Friday nights were the busiest nights for Hawkeyes and add onto the little fact that it was St Patrick’s Day it was all hands on deck behind the bar. Even though you had been working flat out for four hours and your feet could do with a good hot soak you were happy for the distraction. Not to mention your friends had claimed the end of the bar as their own so you could listen to their conversation and chip in with your own thoughts.

“I never knew you had Irish roots Steve” Wanda laughed as she cleared away their dirty glasses, you and Sharon were busy stocking up the bar with new bottles of spirits while Luis, Clint, and Darcy were busy serving the ever coming on slaughter of customers.

“They are faint but Ma’s family are all still over here, St Patrick’s Day is always a big celebration” Steve grinned holding up his beer glass.

“I think Clint could have toned it down with the decorations” you wafted the stray green paper streamer out of your way as you collected the empty spirit bottles to discard in the bin.

“Not a fan of the color green?” Natasha smirked at you as you tore away a cardboard cut out of a leprechaun blocking the bin.

RFA + V + Saeran decorating their house with MC for Halloween

I didn’t realize this said with :~S hopefully this is alright, but if you’d like it redone, I’d be more than happy to

Yoosung:
-the broke college student is a huge believer in DIY decorations
-cutting paper plates to look like little ghosts, orange and purple streamers, toilet paper to mummify things
-he tries to get into the Halloween spirit on a budget
-you’d have to give this boy some good decorations cause his place basically looks like a third grade arts & crafts class

Zen:
-he’s not huge on decorating for halloween
-always too busy or just isn’t into halloween enough to do so
-it isn’t until you encourage him to do so and he just re-uses decorations from other holidays
-the true horror to his decorations is him trying to put a vampire costume on a reindeer decoration
-putting ‘2013’ new year glasses on an easter bunny he had, even though he doesn’t remember ever celebrating that
-by the end of it, you couldn’t tell what holiday you were celebrating anymore

Jaehee:
-she always had some small decorations here and there for halloween
-but she had never truly gone full out on decorating for this holiday
-and she kept it that way, unless you said something about it
-then she would absolutely decorate, just for you
-although if she didn’t have enough guidance on how to do so, it wouldn’t look too different from how she did it before except that everything is doubled
-so it’s just two of every small decoration she has
-you appreciated her effort though

Jumin:
-he had never decorated for halloween before
-or any holiday for that matter
-he was just always too busy and never saw a need to
-until you brought it up, then he would absolutely go all out for you
-he insisted on hiring someone to do it, but you suggested maybe doing it himself to truly get into the spirit
-and he really tried
-but as soon as he tried to stick something to the windows only to get it all on himself, he called it quits and hired a professional decorator
-the next time you walked through the door to see his place, he had convinced you that it was all him
-you didn’t buy it, but just let him have it

Saeyoung:
-he either forgets to decorate and doesn’t do much but a small plastic pumpkin on his desk
-or goes all out
-when it’s the latter, it usually starts on the first day of October
-and progressively becomes more and more as the days go on
-one day, it’s a few cobwebs throughout the house
-by the 25th, it looks like the inside of a tacky haunted house
-everything looks mummified or spooky
-even buys plenty of those animatronics and inflatables that you put outside, but puts them around every corner of the house
-getting up in the middle of the night to get water proves to be a challenge towards the end of the month

V:
-he’s always wanted to decorate for halloween, but never did for one reason or another
-it wasn’t until you talked him into it
-it started with little DIY things
-like paper-mâché skulls or ghosts
-and one day walked in to see he had made a gargoyle out of foam
-most of his decorations were elaborate and home-made
-his house looked pretty spooky in no time

Saeran:
-low key, halloween was his favourite time of year
-absolutely loved going to haunted houses
-so when you suggested decorating his place, he had already had a few ideas in mind
-actually he basically knew what he wanted to do
-so when you went over one day and walked into a dimly lit place that looked straight out of a horror movie, you wondered whether you had walked into someone else’s creepy house
-until your boyfriend came up behind you to scare you and made you scream
-“Did you do this yourself?”
-“Maybe,” he said, “it’s not finished yet.”
-it already looked horrifying enough with all the fake-blood on the walls and dark, spooky decorations
-“What could this possibly be missing?”
-“Oh, this,” he said, pulling a fake rat out from behind him only to scare you once again

Art Trade with @wemblr has reached completion with featuring LiamSixx!

My first time drawing the guy and I got experimental with the mixed media, simply because of my curiosity of fusing colored pencils and acrylic paints. I went for a concept art appearance with a Super Plushie in the mix.

Yes, the glowing LiamSixx is air-guitaring like a boss. He’s simply bad-ass! 😃

I hope you like, @wemblr! Again, many thanks for the trade. You are more than welcome to trade with me again! 😊

Happy Birthday, Pidge-kid!

Author: Admin Miraculous

Word Count: 2345

Princess Allura had called an emergency afternoon meeting between the Paladins of Voltron, surprisingly Pidge was let off the hook and allowed to do what she pleased. As the young Green Paladin left with a smug look on her face the others stared in confusion. You frowned, you and Pidge were supposed to add some more upgrades to Green after all.

Lance let out a loud groan. “Oh, come on! How come Pidge gets to leave?!” Lance yelled, throwing his hands up in the air for extra effect. Allura pointed her index fingers up to her lips, effectively quieting him.

Coran quickly pulled up a holographic screen and scanned the Castle’s camera systems, only to confirm that Pidge was in her hangar with the Green Lion. The duo appeared to be ‘chatting’ with one another happily, so he turned towards Allura and gave her a thumbs up.

Shiro rose an eyebrow towards the young princess, “Any particular reason you allowed Pidge to leave?” He questioned the two Alteans.

Coran cleared his throat rather loudly, “Well, after looking into your background from Earth, Allura and I have discovered that today is our Green Paladin’s birthday!” He said happily, as he clasped his hands together towards the end for added effect. Your eyes widened in surprise.

“Wait, really?! I didn’t know! Aw man, now I feel like a bad friend,” You said in shock, Lance looked genuinely surprised as well. “You didn’t know either, Lance?” Keith asked the surprised boy, who shook his head. “You were literally on the same team in the Garrison, how did you not know?”

“Well, I knew,” Hunk said, as he rose his hand. Lance shot him a glare. “You’re supposed to say you didn’t know so I don’t seem dumb!” He scolded, while Hunk shrugged. “You look stupid on your own already, there’s no way I can make it worse,” Hunk fired back quickly, as Lance let out an offended gasp. You and Keith laughed in the background.

“Okay, no need for fighting! The question is what should we do for her birthday?” Shiro settled, as Coran handed out juice packs. You gratefully took one and mumbled a thanks, causing the ginger altean to smile.

“I say we throw her a party like back on earth!” You exclaimed, as Shiro looked away. “I really don’t remember what a party is like, so I can’t be of much help,” He mumbled dejectedly.  “That’s fine!” You replied, starting to panic, “You can just get Pidge a gift, as us kids from Earth settle the party—” You started before Keith cut you off. “I don’t know if I am apart of this ‘kids from Earth’ group, but I haven’t been to a party. So I can’t help much either,” Keith said with crossed his arms.

“Let’s get this settled then; [Name], Lance, Hunk, and I are going to set up the party while Keith, Coran, and Shiro set off to go get gifts for our favorite Green Paladin! I will accept no objections,” Allura said, clearly becoming annoyed at the bickering.

Everyone nodded their heads in approval, then Shiro and Keith went to follow Coran. He had begun to talk about great places that had various gifts, “Acelr is simply marvelous! I’ve heard of tales of a majestic, white lion who could only tamed by a young female around your age. Quite fascinating, really.”

“Let’s start off by getting a cake,” Lance suggested, as everyone nodded eagerly. Who doesn’t like cake? As the four of you hurried to the kitchen, Pidge suddenly decided to get a drink. Everyone froze in their tracks, as their beloved birthday kid stared at them.

“Um … everything okay?” She asked in confusion, as everyone smiled awkwardly at her. “Nothing! Just do whatever you were going to do,” Allura said, then shooed everyone away to the kitchen.

Pidge squinted at your leaving figures, before shrugging it off and making her way to the training room: she wanted to be both physically and mentally helpful to Team Voltron after all.

After making sure the coast was clear, Hunk went to get special ingredients for the cake. “Since these ingredients aren’t like the ones from Earth, I’ve been experimenting and found some stuff close to the ingredients of cake. It should work,” He continued, as he pulled out a powdery substance from a secret compartment in the wall.

“Genius! Traditional Altean cakes are made with very different ingredients, but I think Earth cakes will turn out just as delicious,” Allura complimented with a intrigued smile. You and Lance looked on in awe, watching the Samoan native expertly measure powders and liquids before combining them into one, large bowl.

“I’m pretty sure none of us know how to cook except for Hunk, so how about we start decorating the living room? Or whatever they call it here,” Lance asked, causing you and Allura nodded in approval once more.

Lance quickly lead the two of you out of the kitchen and into one of the many empty rooms inside the castle, the room with the sunken couch to be exact. “I’m guessing you remembered that Pidge said that this was her favorite room?” You questioned as Lance flashed you a proud smile. “Why yes. Yes I did,” Lance answered in a matter-of-factly tone, causing you to snort.

“Let us decorate then!” Allura exclaimed. She started to tie back her long, white hair into a manageable bun with one hand, and soon the trio started decorating with what they had on hand.

The Yellow Paladin was surely proud of his work as he strided into the room, the cake carefully cradled in his hands. He was about to announce his presence, but the scene in front of him almost made him dropped the masterpiece in his hands.

[Name] and Lance were on the floor, various cuts littering their fingers, as Allura ordered her four faithful mice to string up a nicely made happy birthday sign.

“She made us cut it out 50 times because she deemed the other 49 as ‘imperfect’,” You explained. Your [Eye Color] eyes stared deep into his soul and he could feel the agony in the air. “If it makes you feel better, I have the cake ready!” He motioned towards the cake in his hands.

“I’m sure it’s amazing Hunk, but our hands hurt so much,” Lance said in despair as he got up from the floor and sat criss-cross.

“Well, we still have to continue on with the decorating! Think of it as extra training,” Allura mused, as she handed you a pack of balloons and a tank filled with an unknown air, she then walked over to Lance and placed three roll of green streamers in his hands.

“[Name], I need you to fill the balloons and tie them. Lance, you’ll be decorating the room paper streamers.” Allura proceeded to place some green paper plates and matching party hats on the table in front of the sunken-in couch.

You could feel invisible tears roll down your face, before you opened the pack of balloons and got to work.

“Hey, I bet I can decorate faster than you,” Lance said, disturbing the silence. You were actually grateful that he got rid of the silence, for you couldn’t bare to work without sound. “Bet you can’t,” You refuted.

“Let’s go then!” He exclaimed, throwing a green streamer across the room. You smirked and began to work faster, despite the cuts on your fingers telling you to stop.

Pidge’s head turned to face the entrance of the Green Lion’s Hangar, only for Coran to walk in with a blindfold. “Good evening, Pidge. How was your day?” He questioned her with a smile. “Good… ? Why do you have a blindfold,” She questioned back, gesturing towards the black blindfold in his hand.

“Oh, it’s nothing, really. I need to show you something, but it’s a secret! You must wear this blindfold if you want to know the secret!” He answered, thrusting the blindfold into her tiny hands. She looked at him in confusion, “Okay?”

Now Pidge was walking blindly through the hallways, Coran guiding her with his hands as she stumbled around. She probably should’ve denied his request, but he seemed so eager about it that she just couldn’t let him down.

You waited impatiently from your hiding spot besides everyone else. The plan was for everyone to hide in the space between the sunken in couch and table to surprise Pidge. You were both excited and nervous, as you didn’t want to upset her with this party—although people getting mad over parties most likely only happened in movies, you still thought there was a chance she’d be mad.

Shiro, Keith, and Coran had arrived before you and the others had finished decorating, so they helped you. The room was covered with an array of green, the green party hats everyone wore only added onto the green madness. There was quite a lot of green in this room, causing you to never want to see the color ever again. It had all been worth it though, as Pidge was gonna have the best space birthday ever.

You were surprised when they had came back with gifts Pidge would adore; a new laptop, a broken down galra droid, and some nice treats. After you had question the broken galra droid. the three of them remained silent and just looked away awkwardly.

You soon got the hint, they—mostly Keith—probably stole the laptop from a space mall and got caught by a droid that they proceeded to destroy. You could see Shiro’s distinct hand mark on the droid after all. You didn’t recall any of them mentioning they had G.A.C after all.

“Um, Coran? We’ve been walking for awhile, where are we?” You heard a small voice. Allura quickly shushed everyone and hid them. “Oh, don’t worry, Number Five! You’ll love it!” Coran said.

The door to the room slid open and Pidge walked into the room, “Uh, Corannn? Where are we?” The group looked towards Coran hands that had been counting down from three, when it reached one he swiped the blindfold off Pidge. The group took it at a sign and jumped from your hiding places with a big smile, causing the birthday kid to jump like a cat.

“HAPPY BIRTHDAY!” Everyone yelled in unison. Pidge stood there, blinking, for a moment as she took in the sight. Her best friends, holding a cake for her, with big smiles on their faces. The room covered in green, for her again. A wide smile slowly made it’s way onto her face.

You swiftly jumped over the couch to deliver your favorite paladin a big hug, soon everyone else joined in to give the birthday girl a giant bear hug. “We love you so, so much Pidge! Thank you for being here with us! You’re such an amazing person, so Happy Birthday!” You exclaimed, before feeling small droplets of water onto your shirt. You looked down towards the Green Paladin who hugged you back.

She looked up to you a grin, that’s when you notice that her nose was slightly red and her eyes somewhat puffy. “I-I’m sorry, I—I j-just haven’t h-had a pa—party like this si—since M-Matt left and all,” She stuttered in between hiccups. Pidge then wiped the loose tears that fell onto her cheeks away with her sleeve.

A look of solemn and remembrance spread across Shiro’s face as he thought of the stories Matt told him during the Kerberos mission. “He always did tell me that he threw his younger sister awesome parties,” Shiro said, as he placed a reassuring hand on her fluffy hair. Pidge’s hiccups slowly faded away as she stubbornly wiped away any stray tears.

Lance felt the discomfort in the air from Hunk and the others, so he decided to get rid of it. He stood up, “Sorry to ruin the mood, Pidge, but I remembered that you liked Disney Movies, so me and Coran teamed up to stream Big Hero 6 from an Earth station!” He exclaimed joyfully.

With a press of a remote that had appeared in Lance’s hand, a TV rose from the pristine white floors and hovered near the couch. The TV tuned to the Earth Channel playing Big Hero 6.

You gently guided Pidge to the sunken in couch, causing everyone to follow; including Allura and Coran who began to talk about the strange Earth movie, and Hunk who began to serve out his specially made cake.

“This cake is great, Hunk! Thanks for making it” Pidge complimented with a wide smile. Hunk smiled back, before he went into detail about what he did to make it. “Um, [Name], Lance, mind telling us what happened to your fingers?” Keith spoke up.

You rose an eyebrow, then you remembered the events that led to you and Lance’s bandaged covered fingers. “Haha, funny story actually…” You answered, before explaining what happened. Shiro, Pidge, Coran and Keith couldn’t help but laugh as Allura pouted. “It’s Pidge’s birthday! It had to be perfect!” She yelled.

“Our hands had to pay the price,” Lance said, faking a tone of agony, as he swung his head back with a bandaged hand on his forehead. “Anyone wanna see it?” He added on, already peeling off the first bandage. “Oh god no, Lance. LANCE!” Keith yelled, trying to get the cuban boy to stop. You and Pidge just layed back and laughed at them while watching the movie.

You sighed in content, a warm smile on you face, days like these were the best.

We Didn’t Go To The Snowball Together (but it's okay)

The brown carpet burned against her knees. She readjusted, biting her lip as she straightened his tie. Mike winced. “Does it really have to be so tight?”

“Well…” she loosened it a little, and saw relief flood his features. “Better?”

“Yeah. Way better. Thanks.”

Nancy stood. She brushed off her dress—it was an older one, which their mom had let her borrow. I wore it to my junior prom, Karen had said with a small, sentimental smile. She had run her hands over the blue silk skirt, reminiscing about her glory days; hiding in the bathroom with Joyce Byers, throwing snowballs at Hopper, drinking a little too much…

Some of the beading was missing. It was still beautiful to Nancy, though.

“Are you sure you wanna go?”

Nancy watched as her brother brushed a comb through his hair for the thousandth time that day. He looked smaller, somehow—almost like he’d sunken into himself. But he was taller, and older in a way that she couldn’t put her finger on. It had only been a month since Eleven, but he’d cried every night between then and now. Sometimes the tears were silent. Others, they were louder than thunderstorms and shook the walls of her heart.

Mike smiled. “I’m good.”

“Mike…” she sat down on the edge of his bed, “no more secrets, remember?”

The glory days of ocean travel….

There was a certain romance to going to sea in a passenger ship before the jet-age replaced ocean liners with cruise ships in the 1960s.

Before the jets, one would go to sea to get from point to point on an ocean liner. You had a final destination….and it wasn’t the parking garage where you left your car before the cruise.

After the jets came….one now goes to sea for leisure and a vacation on a cruise ship.

                                            *          *          *          *

The departure – or sailing – was one of the highlights of any voyage way back when.

The image above, from 1949, shows the thousands of paper streamers thrown by RMS Orion passengers to well-wishers on the pier….before leaving Australia on the very long sea voyage to England.

There were no flights. This was “Good-Bye” for a long time. Those paper streamers….and the web they created just minutes before the ship sailed…. signified the bonds with family and friends remaining behind.

Today, security precautions and environmental concerns have eliminated most of the party atmosphere of a ship-sailing. The focus is on the onboard experience and the itinerary.

                                           *          *          *          *

Although it’s still a romantic and exciting experience for many to go to sea (like me)….it’s certainly not the glory days of a half-century ago.

The first British ocean liner with air conditioning in all public rooms, the RMS Orion was launched in 1934….and called “a landmark in the evolution of the modern liner” with its open-air and tropical layout. The ship provided transportation service for a half-million people between England and Australia over three decades.

Summer Dreams -- an Ichabbie Ficlet

I promised @sneetchstar I’d write her an Ichabbie birthday fic way back in early 2016. A year and a half later, here it is! With “summer” thrown in just for fun! Rated E.

Abbie is tired of winter and Crane tries to make her forget about the cold.

“I wish it was summer already,” Abbie muttered, putting on her heaviest black North Face puffy coat and her favorite leather gloves all so she’d be able to make her way into work. She already had her snow boots on - they were just part of her ensemble lately since this winter seemed endless. She was thankful that her street had been plowed early and that Crane had gone out and shoveled the driveway so she could get out easily. “February is brutal.”

“Indeed it is,” Crane said.

“I don’t need to hear about Valley Forge,” Abbie warned him, pointing a leather-clad finger in his direction.

You bring down your phone and look at the photo on the screen, a sea of heads, lit by strings of paper lanterns and festive streamers, under the night sky. You tuck your hair behind your ear as a gust of wind blows through the roof deck. You peer over the edge of the railing. From five floors up, you see bare streets and small figures heading home. You face the party, futzing with your outfit as you see models, stylists, and artists pass you by. You check the time on your phone, 30 minutes have passed since you got here, and your battery is already low. You shove it into your pocket.

You can handle a party, right? You ask yourself. You scan the venue and spot the bar. You walk in its direction.

On the way, you catch snippets of conversation, floating on top of the live band’s music. People asking about other people, famous spots, and whether anyone will show up to this party. You feel like an outsider, exploring a completely new scene.

As you slowly maneuver through the spaces between bodies and dodging eccentric accessories, you spot a radiant Ara, still as energetic ever despite standing on sky-high heels. You notice she’s surrounded by handsome men, vying for her attention. You pull out your phone and snap a picture. You make a mental reminder to send it to Ara later as you continue your trek towards the bar.

After much finessing, you finally reach the back of the crowd waiting for drinks. You crane your neck and tiptoe, counting the people separating you and a cold bottle of beer.

You lose your balance and push into someone on your side. “Ah, sorry!” You turn towards him and bow in apology.

You look at him and you get the feeling that you’ve seen him before. Tan skin, a little scruffy, you go through your mental directory of the few people you know until there’s a match.

“Aren’t you Tae-hee-ssi?”

“It’s (Y/N)-ssi, right?”

You both point at each other simultaneously.

There’s a pause and then laughter. You exchange greetings.

“Glad to meet you! Your editorial with VIXX was nice.”, Tae-hee smiles wide. You think he looks just like his display pictures on social media.

“Thank you, Tae-hee-ssi! Your comic for this month’s CHICK was really heartbreaking!”

“Thank you, I love to make people cry.” He chuckles under his breath.

You finally reach the front of the bar and you wait patiently as three bartenders frantically open bottles and pour drinks for guests. One of them spots you and points towards a drink menu taped on the top of the counter.

“What will you have?” Tae-hee asks.

You notice they have nothing but beer or tequila shots. “I’ll have a beer please.”

He raises two fingers, “Two beers please.” The bartender nods.

He pulls two cold, dark green bottles out of a large ice-filled cooler. He places them on the bar and swiftly removes the caps. You watch the cold stream of air lazily rise above the rim.

Tae-hee grabs the bottles and hands one to you, “Cheers.” You clink your drinks and take a swig. You feel the alcohol warming your body and smile at Tae-hee. You think the night shouldn’t go too badly at all. The two of you squeeze yourselves through the throngs of people to the edge of the party.

Tae-hee leans his back towards the railing, the wind billowing through him. You watch him take a drink of his beer and before either of you could speak, you hear a commotion. You turn your head to see people slowly swarming towards the entrance, cameras flashing, and growing chatter.

“Must be someone famous.” Tae-hee shrugs, “There’s always at least one in these magazine parties.”

You a notice a paper lantern flickering to life over him, bathing him in a warm red light. “Could I take a picture of you?” You blurt out.

Tae-hee raises his eyebrows and shrugs again. “I guess so.” He smiles, his drink held slackly in his hand and the city skyline as his backdrop.

You set your beer on the floor and get your phone ready. You bring up the camera and take the picture.

“How about this?” Tae-hee shows off his profile and runs his hand through his hair with dramatic flourish, his expression imitating the smoldering models of CHICK. You laugh, adjust the composition, and take another picture.

“Okay, stop, or else I’ll have to charge you.” He waves his hand, embarrassed at the attention. “Show me, show me.”

You walk to stand beside him and he steps closer to look at the result. You feel his breathing and smell the faint scent of cigarettes from his clothes.

“Not bad!” His mouth comically downturned. “Now I can say I have a portrait by the great (Y/N)-ssi!” He makes a gesture of grandeur.

You laugh as you elbow him away. Tae-hee moans and clutches his stomach exaggeratedly. You move to pick up your beer from your previous spot and drink. You exhale with a refreshing ah when you finish and look up to find Hyuk standing in front of you.

You spot the differences, his ash-brown hair slicked down and dyed jet black, his dark, rugged clothes. You find it hard to believe this was the soft maknae from a month ago. Hyuk’s eyes dart up and down, inspecting you and Tae-hee. He shoves his hands in his pockets as he smiles and walks towards you.

“(Y/N)-ssi, it’s nice to see you again!” You feel his body heat as he stands beside you. Goosebumps prickle all over your skin.

“Hyuk-ssi, this is Tae-hee, he writes for CHICK and also writes comics.”

Tae-hee bows and extends his hand. “Happy to meet you, Hyuk-ssi! I’m a fan of VIXX’s work. Don’t know how idols do it!”

Hyuk takes his hand and gives it a firm shake, “Thank you, don’t know how you writers do it or get paid but it must be fun!” He lets go of Tae-hee’s hand.

You see the corner of Tae-hee’s mouth twitch. You hear Hyuk chuckle, enjoying himself. You look down and fidget with your empty beer bottle.

Tae-hee clears his throat, “It is! I’m just in this month’s CHICK and have a few indie comics out. Honestly, it makes me nervous when I see my works printed!”

“Oh, I see!” Hyuk feigns interest.

“Come on, Hyuk-ssi,” You nudge him gently, “You were just saying how nervous you were at my photo shoot.”

He scoffs. “Well, usually we have professionals shoot us.” He laughs but stops himself midway.

You feel a thud in your chest. You’re unable to move or to speak, busy processing what you just heard, feeling the self-doubt creep in.

Tae-hee looks blatantly at his watch, “I’ve got to go. See you around, (Y/N)-ssi, Hyuk-ssi.” He bows and scuttles away, disappearing into the party.

Your face grows hot with confusion, embarrassment, and frustration, Hyuk’s words echoing in your ears. You step away from him and hold your head up, wiping away the hot tears welling in the corners of your eyes. You hear Hyuk clear his throat and saying your name but a fog fills your head. You push yourself into the thick of the crowd.

You squeeze through the people, looking for a place to toss your bottle before going home. You erase any remnants of crying before you spot a trash can far off to the side. You make yourself as small as you can and move quickly to get to the bin. You haphazardly toss the beer into the trash and face the opposite way but before you could leave, you see N beaming at you.

“(Y/N)-ssi!” He waves, “Congratulations on the photos, all of us loved it. You made us look super cool!” He claps his hands excitedly.

You give him a tight-lipped smile, “I just tried my best, N-ssi.” You bow and try to slink away but you fail to find a path through the other party guests.

“We actually sent Hyuk to go find you when Ara told us you were here! Did you see him?”

“Yeah, we talked a minute ago.” You try to angle your face away from N as you feel your eyes grow puffy and swell.

“Are you all right, (Y/N)-ssi?” You feel N get closer, “Did something happen?”.

“No, I think I’m just tired!” You laugh nervously, “I’m already heading home.”

N straightens up, “Oh no! I’m sorry to hear that.” He puts his hands on his hips and clicks his tongue. “Want to say bye to the others before leaving? They wanted to thank you!”

“All right.” You smile weakly as N leads you to Ken, Ravi, Leo, and Hongbin, waiting in front of a photo wall.

“(Y/N)-ssi!” Ken calls out to you. They all walk over, bow, and thank you for your work, talking over each other.

“I wouldn’t have thought that was your first time doing a magazine photo shoot!” Ravi says.

“I think they turned out really nice,” Leo says as he nods in agreement.

“Have you seen Hyogi? He was looking for you.” Hongbin asks as he checks his phone for messages.

“I’m here.” Hyuk walks out from behind him, avoiding your gaze, his head tilted down.

“VIXX and my dear chick, (Y/N)! Group photo please!” Ara shouts, appearing from thin air, trailed by one of the many party photographers. She flails her arms horizontally, gesturing for you and VIXX to compress.

Like clockwork, the men shuffle into formation, placing you in the middle, between Ken and N. You struggle to keep your smile after the camera clicks multiple times and you slowly step out of frame before more cameras appear to take the idols’ photos.

You finally make it to the elevator room after navigating your way through the packed roof deck. The sounds of the party become muffled behind the heavy door. You sigh with relief, finally alone. You mash the down button and the doors slide open. You step into the bare box and slouch against the wall. You close your eyes and breathe for a minute until you hear footsteps racing towards the elevator and see the doors open again.

“Can we talk?” Hyuk asks, “I understand if you don’t want to though but if you give me a chance.” A drop of sweat rolls down his brow.

“Oh!” You play looking around the elevator, “You want to talk to a nobody like me?”

The elevator doors try to shut but can’t with Hyuk blocking the way. “Just get in, Hyuk-ssi.”

Hyuk steps in and it closes, trapping the both of you inside. You begin praying that it’s a quick trip to the ground floor as you feel tension fill up the space.

“I’m sorry.”  Hyuk stammers, “I didn’t mean what I said but there’s no excuse for hurting you.”

“Yeah, what was that?” You sneer, “I know we’re not…friends…but that…came out of nowhere.”

“I wasn’t,” Hyuk rubs the back of his neck, “feeling myself.“

“I was annoyed or angry or something, I don’t know… when I saw you with another guy.”

You look at him and his eyes fall to the floor.

“I want you to know that I really was nervous when I met you because you were so professional and cool. When you called me last time, I was happy that you noticed me and I was excited to see you tonight but I messed up. I’m sorry.”

“Hyuk-ssi, you can stop apologizing.” Your eyes meet, completely different from his cold gaze before.

“I’m actually surprised with how I reacted.” You clasp your hands behind you. “I’m proud of my work and as long as I was happy with it, others opinions didn’t matter. I guess I was wrong. I know I still lack a lot.” You laugh softly.

A breeze blows in as the doors slide open to a hallway facing the city streets. You shake off the cold and step out of the elevator.

“Anyway, it’s fine. I’m going home now. Good night.” You bow and begin walking.

“Wait!” You don’t stop but Hyuk catches up to you. “How are you getting home?”

“Hmm…it’s like a fifteen-minute walk from here?” You blink, trying to remember how long it took you earlier.

“Can I walk you home?”

“You don’t have to. It’s really near.”

“I want to and I want to make sure you get home safe.”

You stop walking and you swerve towards him, staring him down.

“Suit yourself.” You say.

Hyuk grins and you both walk in silence in the dimly-lit, quiet city, passing by empty malls, convenience stores, and fast food joints.

He breaks the silence, “How can I make it up to you, (Y/N)-ssi? Anything you want. I’m not very rich so don’t ask for five million won or a trip abroad.”

You laugh while side eyeing him, “Come on.”

“Please, I’ll do anything.”

You shake your head but you get an idea. You begin thinking of all of the possibilities.

“Do you need a butler for a day? A nice fancy restaurant dinner?” He rattles off suggestions, “How about a date?”

“Hyuk-ssi.” You stop walking before a street crossing. The red light blinks across the two of you.

“Yes?” He smiles.

“Could you model for me?”

“What?” Hyuk furrows his eyebrows.

You forcefully take his hand with both of yours. “You see, you are right. Nobody really knows who I am besides that one photo shoot we did. I need more for my portfolio and more exposure and what better way to fill it up than with someone who has a bajillion followers, so let’s have a shoot!” You look into his eyes as earnestly as you can, taking your shot in the dark.

He cocks his head and licks his lips, scratching the side of his head. The red walking sign turns green.

“Well, okay, I’ll do it! Just the two of us though. This is just for your portfolio!”

“Yes!” You happily walk across the street with a skip to your step, hand-in-hand with Hyuk, dragging him along.

You reach the front of your building and point at the door. “Well, this is me.” You swing your arms until you feel the familiar warmth of Hyuk’s hand. You see he looks pleased.

“Thank you for letting me walk you home.”

“Hyuk-ssi, it’s no problem.” You step towards your door and loosen your hold but he tugs you back.

“And thank you for giving me a second chance.” He smiles at you and squeezes your hand. You feel your heart pounding in your chest. You lose yourself staring at him for a second but you blink and let go of his hand.

“It’s okay.” You shrug as you open the door to your building. “You were jealous.” You bid him good night, leaving a red-faced, dumbfounded Hyuk on the street.

Fire Emblem Fates - Hanabi

This (nsfw!) work was created as part of the Fire Emblem Femsplash exchange as a gift for @peeta-arts

“Again, she heard the sound, scraping at the carriage roof. Srrrkt. Srrrkt. Srrrkt.”

Hoshido was uncommonly hot during the first summer festival following the war’s end, but, despite the ill climate, the spirit of celebration abounded. Children of Hoshido and Nohr frolicked together through mazes of festival stalls and paper streamers, partaking in games of chance and skill, sharing festive treats both savory and sweet. Some of the bolder Nohrians even had a go at donning the traditional festival yukatas.

Indeed, armistice is a time for reconciliation. Thus, with this noble endeavor in mind, far above the festival proper, in a secluded copse of trees near castle Hoshido, Camilla, the eldest princess of Nohr, had decided to show her new Hoshidan allies how Nohr once celebrated their solstice.

Camilla’s deep voice cut the humid air with ominous intent as she continued her story. “The words of her love resounded in her head, ‘wait here, I’ll be back soon’ and left her paralyzed. And always, from the carriage roof. Srrrkt. Srrrkt. Srrkt. Was it a branch, she wondered?”

The One Where It’s Kakashi’s Birthday (Kakashi/Reader)

It’s only appropriate to be late for Kakashi’s birthday celebration. Even he would be late.

I did a few sketches for Kaka’s bday while watching PLL and then I ended up writing a fic to go with it, because the fic I wrote at 11.30pm last night wasn’t working out. Is this one any better? Idk I wrote it kinda fast and read it through once to do a quick revision because if I don’t get it posted tonight it’ll never see the light of day …

Also kind of a gift to @thefoxthief because Ash said she wanted more of my Kakashi/Reader fic but I’ll be busy with Kakashi Week! So hopefully this li’l ol’ rushed thing will tide you over for now. (-:

Kakashi stared in dismay at the scene when he stepped into his apartment. There were no paper streamers hanging from the ceiling or balloons floating in the air; there were no massive centerpieces or banners or anything else that would indicate that today was different from any other day. It’s not like he wanted a big celebration - truth be told, he hated the attention it brought and the false sentimentality people spewed for the sake of appearing to care. But he couldn’t help but feel a little bit disappointed that you hadn’t done anything for his birthday. You’d been dating the Copy Ninja for a little over a year now, and this would be the second birthday you spent with him.

Maybe how I acted last time made them think I didn’t want them to do anything, Kakashi thought as he shed his flak jacket and sandals at the door. He grimaced at the memory of his last birthday. You’d only been dating for a few weeks then and you’d been so excited to celebrate his birthday that you went ahead and made plans without asking him because “it was a surprise.” You had done pretty much everything Kakashi despised - you’d made reservations at a popular restaurant, you’d baked him an unnecessarily sweet cake, you bought a handful of gifts, and you invited an even larger handful of people over to your own apartment for an after-dinner surprise party. As soon as Kakashi caught wind of your plan, he balked and spent most of the day wandering in the village to stay away from you. By the time he showed up, he was late for dinner (which, you had expected him to be a little late but three hours was just ridiculous), he looked you straight in the eye and said, “I don’t eat sweets”, he wouldn’t even look at the gifts you’d bought, and he declined your invitation to at least go back to your apartment so you could whip up a quick make-up dinner (and, you know, have the surprise party). Without so much as a hint of an apology, Kakashi disappeared into the night and left you standing in the middle of the street.

Yeah, I screwed that one up.
