paper craft art

AT LAST I HAVE SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED A YOI THING

Yurio first because he is the easiest to draw and also my favorite. <3 I was pretty torn on whether to use this floral pattern or a pattern of gold tiger stripes for his hair, but in the end decided the flowers felt more Agape.

He’s for sale, my lovelies! Send me an ask or use the chat feature if you’re interested!  Sold!

I Made a Bison*-with-Headphones Out of Paper

I made some other Sherlock-y type paper projects, too:

A friend in case I need someone to talk to,

a replica of the black origami lotus from TBB in case I need to let someone know they are marked for assassination,

an origami deer-stalker cap (shown here lined with tin-foil and modeled by Archimedes),

and a “Persian slipper” (khussa) color, cut, and paste project (I keep nicotine lozenges in mine.)

I’m told there will be an arts-and-crafts room @221bcon this year, and I plan to bring supplies and materials for the origami lotus, tin-foil lined deer-stalker, and Persian slipper to share**.

The bison* skull is my original work and I reconfigured the human skull so I can print, score, and cut the pieces for both with a scrapbooking machine***. If anyone is interested in attempting to assemble their own human or bison* skull, I would love nothing more than to give that brave person or persons**** the instructions and printed, scored, and cut cardstock to make a skull.

Unfortunately, I am emotionally fragile and terrified of preparing supplies for twenty or so skulls that no one wants. So, I am posting this in an attempt to gauge interest. If you are going to 221bcon and you want to attempt one of the skulls, reply to this post to let me know. (If you are not going to 221bcon and you are really interested in making the bison* skull, let me know anyway and I can email you the pdf or possibly snail mail you the printed, scored, and cut pages.)

Finally, if you read this far and you are not embarrassed on my behalf I would appreciate any signal boost you are willing to give by reblogging this post. Thank you.

   * I spent a lot of time looking at bovine skulls and I’m fairly certain it’s actually a yak skull, not a bison.
** I figured these are relatively easy projects suitable for all ages. I intend to find some safety scissors and washable markers instead of only bringing the pointy scissors and sharpies I have lying around.
*** I don’t want to say the brand name. There’s nothing wrong with scrapbooking, but I just never saw myself as the kind of person who buys a cr!cut. I did, though. I bought one for the sole purpose of cutting out peppakura/papercraft patterns. I’d feel bad, but it’s too awesome.
**** Up to 12 people who are interested in the bison skull and 20 people who are interested in the human skull.

A girl who loves her people, and a girl who loves the sea!

Papercraft Moana! This was such a great movie; I spent most of it with my hands pressed over my mouth in sheer awe of how beautiful everything was - the visuals and the music and the message. Amazing.

She’s for sale, my lovelies! Send me an ask or use the chat feature if you’re interested!

How to make a pumpkin head

Since I defs didn’t want to carve a real pumpkin to put on my head and get nasts pumpkin insides all over my hair I decided to paper mache one. Unfortunately there was no good tutorials anywhere so I will share my trial and error knowledge.

First I got some supplies: 1 Punch balloon (they’re rounder and larger they regular balloons), some paper mache stuff in a bag, cardboard, a glue gun, paint, sculpey clay, tape, some news paper and some water and flour mixed together.

I then put at least three - five paper mache layers of newspaper with flour water on the balloon. I also measured my head and left an opening at the bottom. (NOTE: Don’t put tape on the balloon and try to peel it off after you’re done paper macheing, RIP)

After that’s all dry I put glue gunned some cardboard onto it to give it some pumpkin like ridges.

Then I filled the gaps between the cardboard and the newspaper with the paper mache in a bag stuff. Wait for it to dry. (Note: Don’t pop balloon until the paper mache in a bag stuff is dry cause it holds a LOT of water and your paper mache project will sink, RIP) After that I popped the balloon and lightly dampened the top with a sponge and water until it was wet enough to slowly press down into more of a pumpkin shape.

After it’s all dry I taped a stem I made out of card board on the top and put another layer or two of newspaper mache over top.

More drying wait time (you can use your oven on the lowest setting to make it dry faster) then I sanded it down and cut out a face with an exacto blade.

I added a little bit of backing behind the face on the inside with the paper mache in a bag to give it more of a 3D look which wasn’t that noticeable but oh well, it kidna worked… After all that stuffs done I painted it all white otherwise the newsprint would bleed through and make my colours not as bright, I also added some sculpey clay to the brow area to give it some more emotion in which I used an iron to dry it with cause it was too late to put it in the oven with paint all over it (Note: Put clay on before painting).

I sprayed it with a sealer before painting colours on it cause I find acrylics do weird things sometimes. After it was all dry I begin to paint.

I also painted the inside a red and added a kinda head rest thing on the inside since when I pushed the top down it made an uncomfortable point at the top when putting it on your head. Then once it was all dry I sprayed it with some more sealer, added some cool stuff like stitches with some ribbon and blood which I used nail polish for a shiny effect and put in some lights which weren’t very effective when my head was in the pumpkin but that’s okay, it still looked cool.

And that’s that!

Hope this helps some people, Enjoy!
