Flower Fantasy: Models being photographed by Patrick Demarchelier for the most wonderful archive book to date - ‘Dior Couture by Demarchelier’ (image scanned by me)

Pieces worn here are from the flower-inspired Christian Dior Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2010 collection. Silhouettes mirroring tulips and textures emulating rouched petals made it clear that designer John Galliano was heavily influenced by beautiful blossoms, he is even said to of spent hours studying the hues and light of plants which led him to experiment with different techniques. Frothy tulle, bursts of lilac ombre organza and intricate pansy patterned plumage along with the colourful cellophane on models heads meant you could easily confuse them for bouquets of flowers after being freshly picked from a French garden; now that’s what I call pulling off florals.
