This is one of Francis Picabia’s earliest ‘mechanomorphic’ works, according to Lucy Flint of the Guggenheim. The machine presented in Very Rare Picture on the Earth is depicted as a somewhat confrontational portrait. There is something undeniably human-facelike about its composition, I would say.
