K: It’s been a while since I slept that well. I feel really good.
D: Well that’s awesome and we should celebrate, you know how we should celebrate then? Deeks’ Frittatas, Deeks’ famous Frittatas and then we should go paddle-boarding down the Marina. You know the guy renting out all the boards…
Remember that there’s a version where Feanor died via drowning?
(Lost tales part 1, “and here Fëanor died, drowned in the Waters of Mithrim”)
The Feanorians just go and camp out there. Feanor goes into the water for whatever fuckin reason and drowns. Here’s the thing. It’s a lake. And I’m guessing there’s not huge waves and currents along the shoreline. And we know he had no clue how to make boats so he couldn’t have been out far. Why was he in a lake??? My best guess is bathing or something. Feanor straight up drowned taking a bath. Feanor can’t swim. And his sons didn’t rescue him? None of the 7 could get him out of the water? Guys, NONE OF THE FEANORIANS CAN SWIM. THEY JUST FLAT OUT CAN’T SWIM FOR SHIT. 7 PRINCES AND A KING, NOT A SINGLE ONE CAN DOGGY PADDLE. THESE GUYS.
It was a weekend filled with adventure, laughter and tears of joy.
We celebrated this little girls 4th birthday, the daughter of a best friend, who also announced she is pregnant with her second child, a boy (squeal!!!!). Melissa and I don’t speak or get to visit as often as we would like, but we always pick up where we left off. Iris was halfway through opening gifts when we realized she had developed a system - she was ranking her gifts into piles of her favorites and least favorites… ours made the favorite pile. I support her.
Later that day we celebrated the birth of another wonderful person - @ironmq. I love birthdays. I love other people’s birthdays more than I love my own. I wrangled up the gang to brainstorm some birthday ideas - piano bars, restaurants, house party, etc… and then it clicked… sunset paddle at our local lake. We had 14 people and somehow we were able to get enough kayaks for everyone. Afterward we all stood around, talking and laughing, under a blanket of stars. When I sit back and truly think about the evening, I can’t help but smile. I never imagined doing the things we do. I never imagined finding a whole group of people who are always down for an adventure. We love our people and we go hard for them, too.
Yesterday started with spin and ended with a lousy run. But in between I caught up with these beautiful ladies. It had easily been over two years since we were all together. The conversation topics today vs our Denton days have changed drastically. It ranges anywhere between Fiestaware dishes to families and specific death wishes. We’ve all grown up so much, we’re all in different stages of our lives, but it has always been easy with them. My heart was so happy.
A man drives up to his RV, parked in a parking lot. He enters the RV after turning on the propane. Opening his fridge, he finds warm beer and flashing lights. He checks the outlet and sees it has been tampered with. Yelling “Oh no, no,” he tries to make it to the door. The RV explodes before he gets out.
Callen is riding an exercise bike, Sam is doing weight work with bean bags. Sam is all about strength, Callen all about flexibility. Sam wonders when Callen became so pro-flexibility. He heard it when Anna had it in a podcast.
Kensi wakes up a sleeping Deeks. She’s been up for a while. She had a great night’s sleep, he wants to go paddle boarding, she wants to do more that paddle board. She wants to say “thank you for everything.: "You were the strong one, I was just along for the ride,” Deeks tells her. Kissing ensues but Kenai’s phone rings. They have to go to work. Deeks wants four minutes. Maybe two and a half.
Nell and Eric brief Callen and Sam. The man killed in the explosion is Sheldon Rhodes, an engineer working on a highly secret project for the Navy’s new guided missile destroyers – “Stealth ships” according to Sam. SecNav needs to know if his designs have been compromised. Kensi and Deeks are on their way to Rhodes’s engineering firm. Callen and Sam are off to the explosion site.
Sneak Peek #1 – Sam and his explosives.
Kensi and Deeks are at the engineering firm. They are “outsiders” according to the head of PR. She’s hitting on Deeks. Two of Sheldon’s lead engineers of the team’s seven are not in because Sheldon’s grief. The PR chief starts weeping about Sheldon’s death and throws herself at Deeks for comfort. Kensi goes to talk to the engineers while Deeks deals with the head of PR. It is all played for laughs.
Aiden Tinker, one of the missing engineers is on his way to Japan. Hetty is concerned that he is going to Tokyo to sell the plans. Nell was able to backstop Callen and Sam as businessmen on the flight but since they don’t know if anyone is working with Aiden, they can’t get a diplomatic pouch on the plane – no guns for Callen or Sam.
