packing lots of books

Friends with Kids

I see your friends with benefits fics and raise you friends with kids.

A/N: So this started out as a list fic and then turned into 5,000 words.

For your consideration. Picture Holster as a coach for peewee hockey and there’s this little girl, let’s call her Piper, and she’s super cute and her parents are literally always late to pick her up from practice. Once Holster had to call them and remind them to come pick her up cause practice had ended an hour ago - and just, this girl is so awesome and loves hockey even though she kind of sucks at it and she carries this little Dora the Explorer backpack with her everywhere.

So whenever she’s waiting for her parents to pick her up she’ll grab a book or toy or coloring book out of her back pack and at first she’d just play quietly while waiting, but then Holster tells the other coaches they can go on ahead (cause they’re always anxious to leave once practice is done since it’s unpaid volunteer work) and he starts talking to her. Eventually one day after practice she just sort of climbs up into Holster’s lap while they’re waiting in the lobby and gives him her book to read to her and his heart just? melts a little honestly

And he legit always comes home to Ransom - they’re roommates, again because Holster tried the whole nine to five thing three states away from Ransom and he would rather be barely making ends meet by working at the local hockey rink than making six figures if it means he gets to spend every day with his best friend - but that’s a whole other story. But anyway he is always talking about how smart Piper is and what funny thing she did that day. Ransom even feels like he kind of knows her because Holster talks about her so much.

One day when they have a game on a day that Ransom has off from the hospital he surprises Holster by showing up. He talks to the other parents in the stands and quickly figures out which kid is Piper, because when they come out onto the ice Holster is practically carrying her and it takes almost a full three minutes of coaxing before she lets go of him and skates over to her spot on the ice.

Ransom thinks that’s like the cutest thing ever. He asks the parents who are sitting near him whose kid she is and all the parents are saying she isn’t theirs and Ransom is confused before one of the moms sitting nearby asks who he’s talking about again. He points to number three on the ice and the mom tells him that Piper is in foster care and the parents – “are a steaming pile of shit.”

Where Y/N is in an unhealthy relationship, and Harry helps her realize and understand that she should be treated better.

Sneak Peak:
“You always did like Harry more than a friend should. But then you got into a relationship and you knew your feelings never went away they were just repressed.

But right now it’s like they all came back again in full force, they weren’t hiding anymore.

“Why didn’t you text me back last night. Were my jokes so bad you threw your phone out the window?” He chuckled.

You suddenly frowned remembering last night with Lucas coming home drunk. And everything after that. You didn’t want to think about what happened, because whatever you thought would help didn’t. You woke up feeling shitter then before and Lucas was still being the same, he didn’t change. You were stupid to think that him having sex with you would change that.”

I’ll probably do a part two. Tell me if you want that!

As soon as you heard the front door shut downstairs you sighed. You looked over at your phone and it was 2am. But what’s new with him coming home late you thought sadly. You hoped he wasn’t in that mood because you certainly weren’t. But that hasn’t stopped him before.

You heard him downstairs in the kitchen probably getting some water to minimize his drunken state. Oh you really hope he wasn’t drinking tonight. So you quickly locked your phone and pretended you were fast asleep. And maybe he would just climb in bed and just fall asleep too.

As you buried your head in the covers, you saw your phone light up. It was a text from Harry, and you grinned.

You always texted each other about random stuff when you couldn’t sleep at night. Harry usually busts out the awful jokes and sends you funny memes to make you smile.

Harry was a great friend and you’ve became even closer ever since you both worked together in the bookstore down the road. Your whole life you never really had a true best friend where you could tell almost everything to, until him. So you were sad you didn’t have time to reply to his text at least to say goodnight.

You laid down in silence for a little. But You didn’t hear him come up the stairs so you decided quickly to maybe send Harry a quick “goodnight text” just so he doesn’t think your not replying. But as soon as you reached for your phone the sound of footsteps stopped you. You quickly brought your hand back to the bed and closed your eyes to look asleep.

The bedroom door opened and you heard him shuffle in. You could already tell he was drunk because you could hear him trip over his feet multiple times as curse words flew out his mouth.

He walked over to the closet to take off his clothes and was left in just his underwear. The bathroom light illuminated and he walked into brush his teeth and do some other things. Usually he would just jump into bed. He never cared to get fully ready for bed if he was drinking.

Maybe he wasn’t you thought, and smiled a little. Maybe he just came home late from work and wasn’t out get pissed drunk. Which made you think that he was getting back to his old self, and that’s who you loved.

The side of the bed dipped and you could feel the warmth of his body come in contact with you. He got himself comfortable on the bed before he slipped his arm around your waist to pull you onto his bare chest. You almost leaned into his touch until he spoke.

“I know your not sleeping.” He said and you could smell the alcohol on his breathe and you cringed.

You didn’t say anything hoping he would just go to sleep and you can all just start off tomorrow morning fresh.

He sighed into the side of your neck, you thought in defeat. But then you felt him slowly start to leave kisses on your neck. While creeping his hand up the shirt your were only wearing which was his.

You thought it would just end there before he fell asleep. But then you felt his hands coming down to your underwear.

“Lucas, I’m really tired.” You finally gave up the act.

He smirked down at you “I knew you weren’t sleeping.” He said while still assaulting your neck.

Your weren’t facing him so he couldn’t see the uneasiness on your face. But that soon changed when he flipped you around to face him. Even in this dim light you could see his blood shot blue eyes and you missed seeing his ocean eyes.

They use to be so clear and beautiful before they were tainted with the red rims that is now part of him most of the days.

“That’s better.” He says to you as he leaned in for a kiss but this time on the lips. You didn’t push him away because you thought this was just a good night kiss. So when you felt his lips connect with yours you brought your hands up to his cheek and kissed him back. It was slow and gentle and you missed this. Just simply kissing him and not doing anything else.

You pulled away from the kiss to lean your head back down on the pillow because in all honesty you were getting tired. But Lucas wasn’t having it.

“Come on Y/N don’t sleep on me yet baby.” He says well placing his hands between your thighs.

“Lucas your drunk…”

“I’m not that drunk” he tells you while his hand still hasn’t moved.

You tried to reason with him. “Babe, I’m just really tired can we just do this another time. Please.” Why are you begging him, you shouldn’t be. Your subconscious told you.

“Come on Y/N, let’s just fuck around for a little bit. We haven’t in a while.” He whines while kissing your cheek.

But you remember the last time you did have sex it was like a week ago. In the car after you left one of your friends birthday parties.

Lucas said he couldn’t keep his eyes and hands off you all night. Which did make you feel pretty. But he literally made you guys leave early because he wanted you right then and wouldn’t wait. You couldn’t really say no when he went behind your back to tell everyone you weren’t feeling well so you left early, which was a lie.

You did want to stay longer, but Lucas insisted that you guys leave. You felt bad for lying but Lucas kept saying it was alright because he was gonna make you feel so good.

He couldn’t even wait until you guys got home.

You remembered he stopped driving and pulled over. Even when you told him that you felt more comfortable if you were at home in your own bed.

But he didn’t listen.

He said how he couldn’t restrain himself any longer and how he had to take you right in that car.

You remembered him saying how if you weren’t so beautiful and sexy that he could of waited.

Like it was your fault.

But he didn’t wait.

You were uncomfortable and not enjoying yourself that whole time he was inside of you, because yet again he put his own needs before yours.

So right now in this moment it felt like the same thing was happening.

“Lucas. I am really tired right now okay?!” You said in a stern voice. You tried to get him to face you so he could see how serious you were. But his face was still on your neck.

“I’ll be quick. Come on… I’ve had a long day at work and you’ve been so busy too. I miss you…” he tells you.

It was those times when he would say things like that, that you think it’s the truth. You hoped it was because you missed him too, but the old him. Maybe things are turning around for the better. But you weren’t sure.

Silence filled the room but you could still hear the sound of his lips on your skin. He moved lower and lower until he got to the rim of your underwear. He didn’t look up for confirmation but at the same time you didn’t stop him.

You have been working a lot so maybe this would make him happy again. Maybe after this he would stop coming home drunk. Maybe You were being to busy with work and everything.

Maybe this was a way to make up for it.

But you didn’t feel good because deep down you knew you didn’t want to be doing this right now.

And after it was over and Lucas pulled out of you and said those three words.

You knew something didn’t feel right.

There were so many new books that arrived today. You could barely keep up with the whole catalogue and making sure you put them on the right shelf.

The book store was packed today probably because of these new books. A lot of them you had to put aside because so many people were calling them to put them on hold before they sold out.

You were humming a tune that’s been stuck in your head for weeks until you heard something behind you.

You turned around a saw a book on the floor. It must of fallen off the cart you thought as you grabbed “Everything Everything” and put it back on the cart.

You then continue with the teen fiction section making sure you put them in the right alphabetical order by the authors last name.

Sometimes you have these brain farts when you can’t remember which letter comes first in the alphabet so you have to start from the beginning and sing the alphabet song.

“A, b, c, d, e, f, g, h, i-” suddenly you heard another thud behind you.

You turned around again and saw another book on the ground. But it was down the end of the aisle and it couldn’t be from your cart.

You walked over there and picked it up and placed it back where it belonged. Right when you did that a book on the shelf right beside you fell. You slightly jumped before it could hit your foot.

“What the hell?” You said out loud. You swear if it’s those kids again from a few months ago.

You peaked through the slot where the book had fallen too see who was on the other side pushing the books down.

No one was there you just saw to the other aisle. You sighed in frustration. Maybe it was a ghost-

“BOO!” Harry jumps into your view on the other aisle. You jumped and yelled and hit your head on bookshelf.

“Owww” you touched your forehead but you looked at your fingers and didn’t see blood.

“Oh my gosh!” Harry comes over and starts laughing uncontrollably. “You should of seen your face!”

You tried to look mad at him but it was hard when he looked so cute and happy laughing.

“I swear I didn’t mean for you to hit your head.” He says while still laughing.

“Well I did. And you distracted me from my work, you ass.” You couldn’t keep a straight face anymore and grinned.

“I’m sorry.” Harry pouts. “But I’m not really, after you nearly got me fired last week for setting my phone alarm to go off while I was checking out people! And “I’m sexy and I know it” came on!“

You giggled remembering how embarrassed Harry was as he tried to search for his phone to shut off the alarm as he had a line of customers ready to check out.

“I’ll get you back styles.” You point at him to make yourself look intimidating but it really didn’t.

“I’ll be ready, Love.” He raises his eyebrow and You just shook your head.

“Well the least you could do is help me put these books on the shelf. Especially the ones on the top shelf Mr.Long Legs.”

“Sure thing Ms. Shorty.” He teased.

“Hey!” You went over to the cart and got another book and so did Harry.

You checked the list to make sure you were putting it in the right place. Okay where is the name Hopkins? You thought as you skimmed through the H’s. After you found it you slide the book.

“You know I’m not short your just insanely tall-” you turned around to get another book, when you almost crashed into Harry. He was standing behind you as you you were putting the other book away. While he was putting another book above your head.

You were pretty much trapped between Harry’s frame as his hands were above you looking for the right author.

“Oh so now your trying to trap me?”

Harry looks down on you and smirked.

And suddenly you wanted look at Harry all day. His green eyes were mesmerizing. You tried to look away but when you did you just ended up looking at his pink lips.

You always did like Harry more than a friend should.

You were stupid to think that him having sex with you would change that.

“Hey hey.” Harry lifted up your chin to see your sad expression and glossy eyes. “If my jokes were that bad you could just tell me. I promise I won’t be offended, Love.”

You blink away the water in your eyes. “What? No that’s now why. I just fell asleep. I’m sorry and you know I love your cheesy jokes.”

“Ok just making sure.” He pulled away from you and picked up another book.

“Ohh I heard this book was pretty good.” He held up the book “Before I Fall”.

“Me too, they made a movie too and I’ve been dying to see it. It’s kind of mysterious and creepy too.” You explain.

“Yeah but I don’t think it’s in theaters anymore.”

“Aww that’s too bad…” you remember seeing the trailer and maybe wanting to see it but you didn’t have anyone to see it with. Lucas hated doing things like that.

“Maybe you can come over tonight. It’s on my Apple TV and we can watch it together.” Harry offers.

You look up from cataloging to see that Harry was waiting for your answer. You knew your answer already. But your mind suddenly went to your boyfriend. It didn’t matter what he thinks you told yourself. You are just hanging out with a friend and will be done before 11 if he is even home that early.

“I mean if you have other plans I totally understand-.”

“No, I don’t I would love to come.” You say and he smiles.

“Ok I’ll wait for you after your shift is over.”

“I’ll be waiting.” You say as he walks away to finish the rest of the work he had to do.

Now all you were thinking was that you hoped four hours will go by quickly.

“Do you want coke or Pepsi?” Harry yelled from his kitchen.

“Coke definitely!”

A few moments later Harry comes back with two cokes in one hand and a big bowl of popcorn in another.

He handed you a coke and said,“ your a coke girl, my favorite kind” he said jokingly and you giggled.

He also brought a big blanket down from upstairs. When it was time to sit and watch the movie Harry sat down right next to you barely leaving any room between you too. He layed out the blanket over your bodies and put the popcorn between you two.

It was now about seven o'clock and the sun was setting soon. But Harry’s apartment was so cozy and homey. You loved coming over here.

Harry pressed play and the movie started. As the movie was rolling Harry kept asking questions and making commentary that made you laugh.

“Why would she do that-”

“Harry be quiet this is the good part.” You placed your hand over his mouth and he licked your hand making you pull away and wipe your hand on your shirt.

“Your such a child!”

But then Harry hushed you to be quiet because the climax of the movie was happening.

When the movie ended you guys decided to watch The Notebook. It was Harry’s idea actually but you loved the movie too.

As the movie progressed. Your eyes began to get droopy but you tried fighting it. But you barely got any sleep last night.

So when you placed your head on Harry’s shoulder you fell into a deep sleep.

The sound of a phone ringing woke you up. Your eyes were still closed as you grabbed your phone from your pocket and answered.

“Hello?” You said with you groggy voice.

“Y/N, where the fuck are you?!” Lucas’ voice boomed from the line.

Your eyes flew open. You were confused where you were for a second. But you took in your state as your laying in Harry’s lap as he’s fast asleep next to you practically holding you. You looked at your phone to see the time, and when it read 1am you nearly had a heart attack.

Holy Fuck.

“I’m so-rry. I’m at a friends and we were watching a movie and I accidentally fell asleep. I lost track of time.”

“Where are you? Send me the address I’m picking you up.” He demanded.

“No, it’s ok. I’m leaving right now. I swear you don’t need to come.” You tried no calm yourself from panicking.

“I swear to fucking god Y/N, if your not hear in a fucking 30 minutes I will-”

“I’ll be there, I promise I’m leaving right now. I’m sorry. I love you bye.” Lucas hangs up on you without saying anything.

“Is everything alright?” Harry yawns beside you. Making you realize that you were still very close to him. “Who was that? You got up quickly and started gathering your stuff.

“I have to go. I should of been home awhile ago. Lucas is worried” You frantically look for your other shoe as Harry watched you.

Harry knew who Lucas was, he met him a few times when they started dating. But he always gave him a weird vibe.

“Oh crap it is 1am. We slept for awhile did we?”

“That was the best nap I’ve ever taken. Your very warm and cozy Y/N like a pillow.” Harry said randomly.

Your stomach did a weird flip after Harry said that. You looked over at him with his hair a little messy from sleeping, and looked adorable.

You wanted to go back to the couch and let him hold you again.

“Let me at least drive you home.” Harry offered getting up from the coach.

“Of no you’ve done so much already. It’s fine I can walk.” You said too quickly.

“Absolutely not Y/N it’s 1am. What kind of friend would I be if I let my pretty friend walk home at night.”

“No way, at least let me call you an uber?”

The uber arrived 7 minutes later. As soon as you saw there headlights you went to the door.

“Hey I don’t even get a goodbye hug?” Harry pouted.

You smiled and turned back around and Harry wrapped his hands around your waist pulling you closer to him.

“Text me when your home safe.” Harry whispers in your ear and you just nod. You didn’t want to leave but when Harry pulled away you knew you had to go.

But all you wanted was to back in Harry’s arms.

A/N: I was stuck on this for so long and then I thought it was due today so I worked on an ending and then realized it’s not due until next week… But here we are anyways. I’m happy with it. Feedback would be great!

You’d always been the type of girl who would live in a bookstore, if you could. And when you’d moved to New York to try your hand at being an author, you scoured the city for weeks before you found the right bookstore to make your base camp.

You know the type of store, that one that’s cozy and comfy and gives you such a sense of home, of right, that you really can’t explain to anyone who doesn’t get it. That’s the kind of bookstore you find.

Barely anyone else comes into the store, ever, and you and the owner, a sweet old lady named Mabel, become quick friends. She’s always waiting with a cup of tea and a short story when you arrive, usually of her childhood or her late husband, Ben. Stories of him are secretly your favorite, because you’re a hopeless romantic at heart, and hearing how sweet and chivalrous he was makes you practically swoon. If only men today were like that. Of course, as your mother says, thinking like that is why you’re single. Not that you really care; you prefer your book boyfriends anyways.

Finished the memory quilt! Which is good since it goes to its owner this Saturday.

It was a lot of fun (and a bit weepy) since it’s my family. We packed in a lot of personal references in the knickknacks and the book titles.

I also feel like it’s my crafters thesis. It has sewing, quilting, crochet, felting, hand and machine embroidery, caligraphy, photo editing, and a bead craft I used to do with my grandpa. Every textile hobby I’ve done has come together into this one project. I’m very pleased with how things turned out.

Come this Saturday we’re all going to be bawling emotional messes to celebrate granny’s 90th!

Good Enough (11)

prologue; part one; part two; part three; part four; part five; part six; part seven; part eight; part nine; part ten; part eleven; part twelve; part thirteen; part fourteen; part fifteen; part sixteen; part seventeen; part eighteen; part nineteen; part twenty; part twenty one; part twenty two; part twenty three; part twenty four; epilogue.

“Just over four months pregnant and already I’m the size of a whale,” you muttered grumpily, slouching in your chair and resting your sandwich on your bump while you reached for your water, which was just a bit too far away from you.

Coming Home

Dean finally gets up the courage to ask out the cute boy who works the reference desk in the library. When he’s rejected however, he assumes it’s because Castiel simply isn’t interested. Until they find each other in the middle of a blizzard, Dean learning that maybe Castiel’s rejection stems from something entirely different than disinterest.

Rated T for adult themes.

Dean supposed he was kind of cute.

Okay, maybe that was a lie. He was really cute. With the disheveled, dark brown hair, and those big, big blue eyes. There were slight bags beneath them, like the skin hooked up over his high cheeks bones, and his lips pulled into these delicate, pretty points. Yes, Dean had spent a considerable time watching the other boy, taking in such features. He spent a considerable amount of time at the library anyway, being an English major, and Castiel spent a considerable amount of time behind the reference desk, where he worked. It seemed only natural that they run into each rather often, or so Dean had reasoned upon realizing he saw Castiel almost every day.

He didn’t come to the library just to see those blue eyes however. That’d be ridiculous.

Biting his lip, he watched as Castiel ran someone through the computer, no doubt looking something up, his mouth muttering out an explanation as the clueless student asked more questions.

Dean sighed.

“Why don’t you just go talk to him?” Charlie muttered in his ear, Dean starting before turning to look at her. She was standing behind him, arms crossed over her chest as she cocked a knowing eyebrow.

“Yeah, okay,” Dean frowned, not appreciative of his friend’s suggestion. Charlie worked at the library too, at the front desk, and sometimes joined Dean after her shift ended, the two of them studying some before heading back to their respective dorms.

“I’m serious,” she persisted, flopping down in the chair beside him. “What’s the worst that could happen? All he can do is say ‘no.’”

“That is the worst that could happen,” Dean grumbled out, looking down at his textbook as his teeth ground together. The idea of talking to Castiel, or maybe even asking him out, not only put his heart a-flutter, but sent a kind of hesitant fear down through him. He didn’t want to be rejected, and would take silent watching over that any day.

“So you’re just going to stalk him for the rest of however long you’re both going here?” Charlie sighed. “Wow, what a trade-off.”

“I don’t even know if he likes guys, okay?!” Dean hissed rather violently. “I don’t know anything about him, actually.” This realization was a rather glum one – an inevitability of staying distant.

What They Do For Your First Day of the Semester

Sam Winchester:

Sam remembered how stressful the first day of a new semester was for him and he could tell how bored you were with the idea of having to sit through a half dozen sylabi and fake introductions. He helped you pack your bag and before you could pick it up to go, Sam slung it over his shoulder. You insisted he didn’t need to go with you, but Sam used the excuse that you were going to be buying a lot of new books and needed a pack mule to carry them. Of course, he really just wanted to spend time with you and make sure your day went okay. He enjoyed the stares from several girls in the class when he dropped you off at your seat with a warm kiss for you to distract yourself with until he came to pick you up at the end of the hour. He loved the way your hand felt in his walking towards the bookstore. Any stress you carried this morning seemed lighter with him there and that night you thanked him for taking care of you as you fell asleep against his chest, one of your textbooks still in your lap.

Dean Winchester:

An 8AM class. Dean was certain you had lost your mind and even checked your temperature to make sure you weren’t feverish. You just rolled your eyes at him. He both loved and hated when you did that. It meant you weren’t going to listen to reason. You crawled out of bed before he woke up and were ready by the time his eyes opened. You gave him a quick goodbye kiss before telling him to go back to sleep. He couldn’t. He was too worried about you. It was too early. It was your first semester back in years. The Rolodex of things which could happen to you kept him up. He decided it wouldn’t cause any harm to go to campus and keep an eye on you. With a coffee in hand, he pulled Baby into the parking lot near your car and waited. When he finally saw your head come into view he popped out of the impala and leaned against her, still sipping on the now cold coffee. When you finally spotted him you shook your head. He prepared himself to be scolded, but instead you took the mug from his hands and sent it on the asphalt before jumping into his arms, your legs wrapped around his waist and your lips against his. “Dean, while I appreciate your overbearing protectiveness, how about you just drive me to school tomorrow instead of stalk me in the parking lot?”

Castiel didn’t understand why you wanted to go to college. You were certainly seemed smarter than most humans he knew. But you insisted you wanted a degree and who was he to stop you. You gave him a quick kiss on the lips before slipping out the bunker door to your first class of the new semester. As soon as he heard the metal door lock, Castiel sent you a text. And another. And a dozen more by the time your first class finished. When you called him after the class ended to inquire about the influx of notifications, he simply told you he hoped the string of smiley faces kept you from missing him as much as he missed you. Cas was delighted that the rest of the day you responded to each text with a selfie of your attempt at the emojis faces he sent. When you got home you dropped your bag at the door and texted him a few emoji’s of your own. He cleared his throat, set his phone down and headed towards the bedroom you shared to show you his own attempts at those special texts.

“Did you even study?”

The biggest test of the semester is approaching. Of course being the study worm I am, I have been studying 24/7. Constantly studying with Jack and Jack, Mike or Swazz and little bits with Sammy. If Organic Chemistry wasn’t so hard, maybe we would enjoy that class.

“We have been studying for 2 weeks straight. We have to get out before the test on Monday. Study today, party and relax tomorrow, then Sunday is hard core studying, then test Monday. Sound like a plan?” G said looking around the table that had J, Mike, Swazz and me. Mike, J and Swazz agreed, “I don’t know guys. I don’t feel comfortable relaxing until after this test.” I said playing with my pencil hoping they wouldn’t care that I didn’t want to party. “Come on Y/N. We have been studying nonstop. We deserve a break especially you! You literally don’t stop studying! You need to give that mind of yours a break!” “I don’t know guys. I rather just study. You guys can go have fun. I’ll just be here in the library or at home studying.” I said.

“No you’re going out with us. Even if we have to force you.” J said. “Sam will be there.” Mike said wiggling his eyebrows. “And how is that convincing me?” “We all know you like him Y/N. You will literally do anything for that boy. We’ve all seen your heart eyes at him when he’s around.” I looked down, blushing. All of a sudden a figure sat on one of my arm rest, “what’s up guys?” I know that voice anywhere. I looked up and saw Sammy smiling down at me. “Ha, hi.” I said quietly. “About to go play basketball. You guys in?” He asked the guys. “Sam we have a big test Monday.” “Yeah and?”

“Did you even study?” Swazz asked. “No but i know what we need to know already. So I should be good. So you guys in or out?” They all looked at each other then at me. I just sighed, “Go head. You guys can leave your stuff here and go have some fun for a little then come back when you’re done.” They all thanked me and got up, only grabbing their phones. “You look nice today y/n” Sam said, smirking at me before leaving the table. I blushed so hard.

Next day, I was thinking of ways to not go party with them. I just don’t feel comfortable being around people that don’t really know me. I’m really close with J, G, Swazz and Mike. Somewhat Sammy but not really because he’s always hanging out with the basketball guys. I’m just that quiet, nerdy girl that not a lot of people even know I exist. I packed my books and notes and made my way to the library as fast as possible. Once I got there, I got a text,

J: Where are you? We are at your house.

Me: Oh I’m at the library. Sorry. It’s ok. Go on without me.

J: Are you shitting me Y/N? You said you’d go!

Me: I made no promises.

J: Come on!!! G will send you the address and we better see you there in an hour. Get ready girl!

i just read the message and got to studying.

An hour has passed and I was just reading my book when a body sat down. I closed my eyes knowing it was one of the guys, coming to get me. “I said, I didn’t-” I stopped when I saw who was sitting there. “Sammy?” “What are you doing here y/n? I thought you were coming to the party with us.” “I’m studying.” I shrugged my shoulders at him. “Come on, you’ll enjoy the party. I’ll be your date. Let’s go.” “Sam, I just- I don’t want to go somewhere, where I am unwelcome. Those aren’t my friends. They barely know who I am.” “You know the Jacks, Swazz, Mike, and me. That’s all you need to know. Come on. I dropped by your house, picked out a dress for you to wear.” He started getting my things together and putting it in my backpack before swinging it over his shoulder. “Come on.” He stood up, holding out his hand and smiling at me.

I grabbed his arm and just hugged it while walking, leaning my head on his shoulder. “I didn’t know you wore glasses. You should wear them more often. It makes you look even cuter.” I just blushed so much into his arm.

I changed in his car before we went inside the house. When we entered, every eyes were on us. Whispers started filling the air. “Who is that?” “Why is she here?” “Is she with Sammy?” “Why would he bring her?” I started getting uncomfortable as I kept hearing what they were saying, then bodies popped out of the kitchen, “Hey! I was hoping those whispers were about you!” J said, handing me a drink and hugging me, following the boys. It has only been 30 minutes and I was already getting hate for being there. We were all in the kitchen just talking and laughing. But all I could think about was wanting to leave.

Out of nowhere, a couple of girls walked up to the guys are started talking to them. When they were done, they passed by me and yelled to grab the whole party’s attention, “WHO BROUGHT THE NERD? I DIDN’T KNOW IT WAS A BRING YOUR NERD TO THE PARTY THEME!” And splashed one of their drinks on my shirt. “Go back to where you belong, nerd.” They all laughed and walked off, as everyone, but the guys, laughed at me. I just put down my drink and looked at them, “Thanks guys but like I said to Sam, I just don’t belong here.” and quickly walked out the house as they tried calling my name from leaving. I grabbed my bag from Sam’s car and jogged to the library. I changed my outfits and went back to the same table as always and started studying again, crying from embarrassment at the same time.

40 minutes later, a chair screeched from moving it back and someone sat down, putting their stuff on the table. I wiped my tears before looking up, and saw Sammy, looking at me with an apologetic look. “I’m so sorry y/n.” “No, it’s ok. You tried to have me have fun. You didn’t mean for any of that to happen. It’s ok.” “No it’s not. You’re not a nerd. You are just very smart and intelligent. And I like that about you. Don’t listen to them. If they were going to be rude to you, then I didn’t want to be there. Because I’d rather be hanging out with you than with them.” He said with a soft smile. He stood up a little and kissed my cheek and sat back down. “Besides, I need some help studying.” I just chuckled a little, shaking my head. “Did you even study at all?” I gave him a look.

Then all of a sudden, the rest of the boys dropped their stuff on the table and took a seat. “So, carbon-hydrogen bond?” J asked, as they all opened their books. “This is our type of Saturday night. With you. They won’t be bothering you Y/N. We took care of it.” Swazz said to me. I smiled as we all started arguing about organic bonds.

Who are some of your favorite comic book artist? I love Jorge Jimenez!

He’s my favorite too! His art is dynamic and maintains that heroic comic book type of tone. It’s expressive and so pretty to look at

Other favorites are Dustin Nguyen

Nicola Scott is gorgeous and really nails that comic book feel

Jock packs a lot of emotion and atmosphere into his art

I love art styles that are serious and emotionally evocative

Hi, I'm just beginning my study, I have bought Timothy Roderick's "Wicca: A Year and a Day" as previously suggested on this blog. I'm basically starting with almost nothing and I need to start collecting candles, herbs, tools etc. Can you suggest any good online shops I could source everything I need to begin my practice? I don't have a lot to spend at the moment and I'm located in Australia. So far postage costs have been the biggest issue but I understand it's hard to avoid! Thank you

I strongly recommend Amazon for cheap bulk items - you can get like a 120 pc pack of white tealight candles for $20 USD, and that’s pretty good!

I know that book is pretty resource heavy, especially as you get further into it. That was an issue for me when I was starting out so I’m going to give you a tip that helped me - if you’re short on cash, collect your materials slowly and give the book a trial read through. Don’t feel like you need to get everything at once. There’s a lot of information packed into that book that can be read without performing the spells and rituals they teach, as well as a lot of question sections that have you focus on figuring out your own beliefs and don’t require materials. Read through it until you feel like you’ve got enough materials to start the rituals.

And another tip - if you’re short on materials and need to variety of colors/herbs/oils, due the following (simply charge them with the specific intent before using):

- White candles can replace any color candle that you need
- Rosemary can be substituted for any herbs
- Extra Virgin Olive Oil can be used to anoint anything
- Any stone can be used in stone spells if they’re charged correctly

Hope this helps!

I’m a terrible packer. I don’t pack lots and lots because I think I’ll wear everything, I pack a lot because I never know what I’m going to need. I always go over the weight limit. I genuinely take all of my clothes and only wear about 20% of them. Thankfully I don’t have to pack the black fur coats, the crew gets that for me. I always forget my swimming kit though, so I always buy swimming trunks when I travel. I have like 13 pairs of trunks now. I pack lots of books, too.

what are your top 5 literary theory works?

Well, you asked for it.

I have decided to choose personal favourites, not necessarily the ones that have objectively been the most influential or revolutionary. These are works that have affected me personally and how I see literature as an art form, the ones that truly stuck with me. Some of these texts are not strictly speaking literary theory as such, but all have been part of the assigned reading during my Comparative Literature studies. After all, literature does not exist in a vacuum and studying the form means studying history, culture, philosophy, other art forms, and so on.

(Disclaimer: I am a cultural memory and general media nerd, so naturally this list is heavily biased towards my personal interests. Anything about how the human desire to make sense of things and to fit events into a narrative affects how we see ourselves and our place in the universe is likely to do well with me. Also, I value clear and well-structured writing, which has greatly influenced my picks as well.)

AU where almost everything is the same except everyone in Beacon Hills knows about all the weird shit that happens in town and accepts it. And shit gets really weird.

Just last week old Mr. Jansen was dragged underneath his house by what neighbours described as a ‘clawed hell-beast’. Nobody accepts dinner invites from the Smiths unless they want to end up on the menu. If someone disappears odds are a few limbs will turn up around town sooner or later.

Everyone knows you never, ever go into the woods alone.

And on Halloween everyone stays inside and locks their doors because everyone with a half a brain knows that’s when the veil between worlds is the thinnest, when all the monsters come out. But there’s always a few stupid high school kids who try to prove they can survive All Hallows’ Eve.

But of course this would be the year Scott gets stuck outside on Halloween and Stiles isn’t stupid but he can’t just leave him. “Oh my god, Scott. I can’t believe you let the new girl drag you out tonight, I don’t care if you like her. You know what happens to new kids. They die, Scott!”

Stiles is seriously contemplating his life choices when 20 minutes later he’s halfway through the woods and some kind of shadow creature has an inky black tentacle wrapped around his leg. At this point he’s hoping it just kills him because he thinks he saw some tentacle porn that started disturbingly similar to this once.

It’s then that the woods explode with a flash of light and the creature releases Stiles with a hiss and disappears into the night.

“You trying to end up in pieces, kid?” A voice sounds behind him.

“Nope I, uh, totally had that handled.”

His saviours are dressed in tactical gear, their eyes flashing. Hales then, Laura and Derek he thinks. There must be some kind of god watching out for him tonight if a patrol found him.

“Come on, we’ll take you home.” Derek says, looking like he’d rather be doing anything else.

“No way, Sourwolf. My friend’s out here and I’m not leaving without him.” Stiles replies, hefting his bat over his shoulder. Derek’s scowling at him now and Laura’s trying to hide a smile.

“Well, you haven’t burst into hysterics yet like the other people we’ve come across tonight, so I suppose you can come along. Not on us if you get eaten by something though.” Laura grins, showing her fangs. Derek stares at his sister in disbelief.

Stiles takes a deep breath. The things he does for Scott.

“Lead the way then.”

Is This Love or Loathing? || Closed Rp with it-s-all-about-popular || Elphaba & Glinda

“Marriage?! You sending me off to marry someone I don’t know and love?!” Elphaba shouted at her parents. She couldn’t believe they were doing this and she didn’t want too but she knew she had no choice in it. What’s done is done. They hadn’t even told her who she was to marry.

Frex and Melena ignored their daughter’s shouts. Frex ordered her to go to her room to pack. Stubbornly, she did as he said. She didn’t have much to pack though considering she moved around a lot. She packed her two outfits into a bag along with some books for the trip before strolling back into the living room, pouting.

The Home Owners Manual – A handy guide to basic home repair and maintenance

The Home Owner’s Manual: Operating Instructions, Troubleshooting Tips, and Advice on System Maintenance

Quirk Books

$14 Buy a copy on Amazon

Author Dan Ramsey packs a lot of handy info in this cute book that would fit into a back pocket of a pair of painter pants. As a licensed building contractor, Ramsey shares his expertise with us, offering step-by-step instructions on topics such as: electrical maintenance, checking pipes for leaks, inspecting the roof and cleaning out gutters, cleaning a chimney, unclogging drains, cleaning duct work, repairing damaged siding, and so much more on both the interior and exterior of the house.

What the title doesn’t convey is that it’s not only a manual for repairing and maintaining the guts and shell of your home, but also a nice guide for new home-owners who are in the process of buying a home. In this section he talks about agents, FSBOs, closing a deal, different financing options, and even touches on the process of moving into a house. He includes a nice four-page checklist you can use when inspecting a house before making an offer on it.

For old hands who already have knowledge in the basics of home buying, repairing, and maintenance, this book might be too elementary, but for newbies or homeowners who’ve decided to take matters into their own hands rather than hiring outsiders to help, this is a wonderful book to get you started. – Carla Sinclair
