When Bo Horvat was drafted, the Canucks were prepared to make him switch [numbers], too, before being told why he chose No. 53. Horvat was taken 20 spots ahead of Ian Jenkins in the 2011 OHL priority draft. Jenkins, a goalie who wore No. 35, died weeks later when he fell out of a pickup truck. Horvat flipped the digits as a tribute, much to the appreciation of the Jenkins family, which didn’t know about his plans beforehand.
