I’m not an overly shy person, but it never hurts to know peeps are okay with you doing certain things so by liking this post you are reassuring me that you are okay with me..

‌• Sending you in memes

‌‌• Talking to you OOC through IM’s or other things like that

‌• Tagging you in stuff such as dashboard games and other such things

‌• Acting like a wackjob (even more so) ‘round you

‌• Probably asking you dumb questions

‌• Throwing random starters at you if inspiration strikes (and I’ve talked to you IM asking if it’s ok)

‌• Anything else that usually comes equipped with these kinds of posts

…so a while ago I had a dream that Niantic revealed that Spark was actually blind! And his saying “trust your instincts” took on a completely different meaning. Furthermore, the reason he specializes in egg-hatching is because he feels like he can get a closer bond with hearing, touch, etc. And why’s he so enthusiastic about every Pokemon? Because he CAN’T SEE he’s just happy to have caught something and have another friend. PLS SAVE SPARK

tbh the dream made me kinda sad but now I’m like rlly on board??

I've thought about a Youtubing AU for Team RWBY actually. Ruby is resident computer nerd and will put a liquid cooler on anything she can. She also knows OBS and other tools extremely well. Weiss is kind of a "Totalbiscuit" style personality, because she's spent so much time with Ruby she knows exactly what all the settings do and how they affect performance and all that and will talk about it at length. Blake is the one who streams at obscene hours of the night/morning and it's usually (1/2)

(2/2) is some chill open world stuff or RPGs, she LOVES the lore and will talk all day about Zelda timelines and similar stuff. Yang has action on lockdown, whether it be Dark Souls or DOOM, she’s down for a bit of carnage with a comedic twist and often drags the rest of them into videos and streams. Ruby’s the editor, she’s kinda like Grump’s Barry, at first she doesn’t show up in stuff but she does ever so slowly later.

Yeah see I think this is really fun. Like I imagine Yang as the console kid. She only plays Xbox/Playstation and goes for more of the AAA titles. She drags the other girls into Call of Duty Let’s Plays and shows off other big games like Dragon Age and Hitman. She’s currently playing Horizon: Zero Dawn and is a lot in love with Aloy.

Blake is, as you said, the RPG nerd. She streams late at night and sometimes into the morning. She’s quieter than most of the others and likes to just let the games play and occasionally chime in with information or a funny thing here or there. Sometimes Yang will join her and raise a little chaos on the chill streams. Eventually she and Yang start playing WoW together regularly and it becomes their first big series that all the girls eventually join in on. Though Weiss thinks it’s boring and slow and hates it - but that’s part of the fun.

Weiss is the multiplayer queen. She LOVES owning noobs online and talking shit. Weiss has a really popular Overwatch series where she just plays for a few hours every other day. She’s also really good at Battlefield and any sort of twitch shooter. She’s a sniper in most games and knows all the platforming tricks to get into the best spots. She also loves to teabag and will sometimes play Call of Duty rounds with no gun. Just a knife an infinite sprint.

Ruby is the retro gamer and resident PC nerd. She is a huge fan of older games like Mega Man and the original Zelda games. She loves Nintendo and takes her Switch EVERYWHERE. She’s also big into PC gaming and has the best setup. She is a completionist and, as you said, the resident techie who sets everything up and troubleshoots. Weiss has picked up on enough to help out but Ruby knows her shit.

Yes, I am a fan of this lol.

Toxic tween joins D.va’s live stream

“Hey drama queens! D.va here for the usual Tuesday stream! Today I’ll be playing World Of Warcraft! So take a sit, kick back, and watch be own some noobs!”

As the stream went on Hana continued to dominate the game and talk with her teammates, some who were very excited to find out they were being featured on her stream in that moment.

But that all changed when some dickhead twelve year old turned on his mic.

As soon as he did his pterodactyl like screeching filled Hana’s headphones, causing her to wince in pain as his voice filled her ears.

“Sorry about that guys!” She said, addressing her fans who were currently questioning in the chat who that prick was. “Seems like this twelve year old forgot how to turn down his volume!”

Kids like these were a double edged sword when it came to gaming. On one hand they were fun to taunt and tease, especially if they were on the opposing team that she was crushing (which she usually is.) But then on the other hand.

Jesus Christ they are nauseating.

“Um I’m fourteen actually so how about you shut the fuck up you stupid bitch I’ll fucking rape you.” He threatened with three voice cracks.

Hana sighed, hoo boy this’ll be fun. “Listen kid I don’t wanna-”

“shUT THE FUCK UUUUUPP!!! I’m the best player on our team so how about you- MOM GET OUT OF MY ROOM JESUS CHriST!”

She counted six voice cracks from all of that. She looked at her chat to see many of her fans were getting angry, some of them talking about messaging the boy and getting him taken down, or messaging him themselves and threatening the kid.

This is starting to get out of hand...Hana thought solemnly. Just as she was about to exit the game another player entered the chat.

“You shouldn’t speak to your mom like that!” A tiny voice spoke out. “It’s very rude!”

The voice sounded like that of a young girl, which made the gesture even sweeter in Hana’s eyes. The gamertag was Jamie3567 and had just joined the game to hear the boy screaming.

“Ugh!’ The toxic twelve (fourteen) year old scoffed as he got killed (once again). “Shut up! I’m not gonna take advice from some kid who can barely play the game!”

“Hey! It’s my first time being healer!” Jamie responded, sounding heartbroken at the critique of her gameplay.

“Well I think you’re doing a great job!” Hana jumped in. “Every team needs a great healer, not a shitty tank who shouts instead of shooting.”

The stream chat was flooded with messages of positivity about Jamie. The hashtag #TeamJamie even started and Hana hoped she could get it trending to remember this magical match on some shitty online fps guild game.

“Thank you D.va!” Jamie gushed, “I usually just watch my brother play this game but today he’s letting me play instead!”

Hana could barely contain herself at the honest kindness of this little gamer, something you rarely see when playing online. Players like Jamie were one in a million which is why as soon as she stopped playing the game with her new friend she immediately sent hr a friend request that was accepted three minutes later.

Jaime became a frequent and a favorite in Hana’s live streams, and eventually she even began to stream on her own. (with help from Hana and her parent’s permission of course.) Becoming a popular, pure icon in esports.

All because of some toxic little twelve (fourteen) year old who yelled at his mom.

anonymous asked:

What do people who complain about representation want? Do you want all game, cartoon, whatever creators to cater to you? Does everything have to have a black character up to your standards? If you want good black characters you should honestly just make your own shit. Don't guilt trip others into it because you're uncreative and unimaginative.

if i had a hundred thousand years to prepare myself, i still wouldn’t have the energy to deal with picking apart this argument

i’m just gonna settle for telling you, anon, that the “make it yourself” argument is not new, and rings especially false in this culture where people can and do get out there and make their own. i’ll direct you to Afro Fantasy for a much more eloquent explaination of the point i’m trying to get across, but the part that i personally want to emphasize is this:

“A last bit: I was talking with a friend, and my wife, and they helped me to dig deeper into this and consider another reason why it’s both important that we give people space to make their own stuff AND why we keep the pressure on the mainstream. We’ve gotta do it for the children, who can’t find things on their own, or whose parents, for whatever reason, aren’t able to expose them to independent properties. There are kids all over the world who would love to be able to see themselves in superheroes or fairy tales, but don’t have access to the awesome things that exist outside of the mainstream. They only see Iron Man on their TV, so they close their eyes and imagine that Iron Man is brown, or a woman, or they disidentify in other ways. If we keep up the pressure and support the properties who exist to challenge this status quo, these children might seek out these properties when they grow up–then make their own stories.

Here’s a thought: Instead of tossing out “JUST MAKE YOUR OWN, NOOB!” when someone laments, support them and support someone else at the same time. It’s not hard to say, “here’s something that’s exactly like you’ve been consuming, in case there’s a time where you get tired of blasting away the pasty alabaster veneer of All White Man Everything.” And then let them go on about their business. Stop derailing and be effective.”

as i’ve said before, you cannot underestimate how important it is for children to have heroes to look up to that look like them

on that note, i’m gonna tell you a deeply personal story that actually relates to this blog’s content and hope that it puts this in perspective

my favorite FF game is Final Fantasy IV. always has been, i make no secret of it. it’s largely because it was the first one i played- they say your first is always your favorite. but here’s something i’ve never told anyone

the first time i played Final Fantasy IV, at the age of six or seven, i thought Cecil Harvey was black

now, i realize that must sound stupid in this day and age of high-rez remakes, but consider what Cecil actually looked like on SNES. this was his field sprite:

this was his battle sprite:

and this was his menu portrait:

he could have been anyone under that helmet, and what little i could see of him looked like me, so naturally, i thought he was like me (i realize that Cecil is, in fact, a Lunarian, shut the fuck up). i didn’t have access to the original Amano concept art. didn’t have the Internet. the game was a secondhand purchase from Blockbuster, didn’t have a manual for it. i had no frame of reference for what Cecil was actually designed to look like apart from how he looked in-game

so imagine my disappointment when he became a Paladin and the mask finally came off:

on subsequent playthroughs, i would prolong my climb up Mt. Ordeals, because i knew that when Cecil came back down, i wouldn’t be able to pretend anymore and the only person in the game that looked like me would be gone forever

that’s not an experience i want any child to ever have to go through

black children should be allowed to believe they can be the heroes of the story and have it actually be the truth
